Available capacity less than total capacity?

I just purchased a used iPod 5th generation, model number MA444LL, version 1.2. The capacity reads 27.8 GB but available on reads 16.9 GB. The iPod shows there are no songs. How can I regain this lost capacity on the iPod?

Restore it in iTunes.

  • User disk space available showing less than actually available on drive

Can anyone tell me why the space available to a user would be different, less than, that on the drive?
My user home folder is showing only 72Gb available, while I've actually still got some 350Gb available on the drive, which I can see in the finder by clicking on the drive. I certainly haven't manually given myself a quota or anything.
I am using encryption, file vault. And I'm using time machine.

FileVault only encrypts the Home folder. It does so by creating a sparsebundle type of disc image file. Any space available information you see is related to the sparsebundle. As your Home folder expands in space usage so will the sparsebundle. However, if you remove files from the Home folder the sparsebundle will not shrink.

  • Samsung IDE HDD shows less than total capacity

    Hi Everyone,
It's been over a year without any major issues with my PB which is nearly 5 yrs old. However, recently I bought a Samsung (Model: HM160HC) 160GB IDE Hard Disk for back-up. Funnily, it showed me a total capacity of 128GB when I connected it through a External FW Enclosure. This is what it showed me on Disk Utility application before I could format the drive.
The vendor took the drive back, formatted it on a windows machine and gave it back to me where it showed me 160GB total capacity. But when I formatted it (Mac OS Extended, Journaled) though Disk Utility, it once again showed me a total capacity of 128GB and an available space of appx 127GB.
What am I missing here? Need some help very badly, very soon...

    Hello eww,
Thanks a ton for your reply. Unfortunately I have two FW Enclosures with identical Chipset and both show 128GB available space. And I will not be able to figure this one out, till I lay my hands on another FW or USB enclosure.
Having said that, when I put the Samsung HDD in the very same FW enclosure which I have after the hard disk came to me MS-Dos formatted, it did show 160GB. I have 2 questions now:
    1. How can the same Firweire casing with the same drive inside which is wondows/MS-Dos formatted (on a windows machine) recognize full capacity of 160Gb and when I do a Mac OS Extended-Journaled formatting to the same drive inside the same casing the capacity shown is 128GB?
    2. If I decide to put the same Samsung HDD inside my laptop, boot from my external back-up drive, format the internal, will it show full capacity?
Looking forward to a workable solution...

I doubt it. The clue should be the price. Any time you see a copy available for less than from Adobe, I would be suspicious. You can inquire with the Adobe sales folks, but don't expect any credit. At this point, I would suggest just buying AA DC, rather than AA XI.

  • Capacity less than 30 GB

I just bought my first iPdo - a 30GB. WHen I look under my setting, though, it lists my capacity as only 27.8 GB (and I hadn't even put anything on it yet).
Is this normal? Is there a reason that my iPod's capacity is less than 30 GB? Thanks for any help!

  • I tunes says capacity used is less than I pod classic states

I tunes says capacity used is less than I pod classic states i have a 120gb classic but itunes state capacity is 111gb

The difference is explained by the complicated way that memory is counted and the fact that some space is used up by the operating system which makes the iPod work. My 160GB Classic has about 148GB that I can actually use.
So your iPod is reporting the amount of space that you can use - 111GB

    Hi CPI Pierre,
You can determine what is using the memory in your iPad Air by looking at Settings > General > Usage > Manage Storage.
If you are having issues with insufficient memory you may want to troubleshoot using the steps in this article -

  • WL 10.2 Current capacity less than Initial capacity

    Hi all,
Could you please share any ideas regarding situation below :
WL10.2 JDBC pool configured with “Initial capacity” = “Max capacity” = 50
When I checked status of a pool with “weblogic.Admin GET -pretty -type JDBCConnectionPoolRuntime” I got :
    ActiveConnectionsAverageCount: 1
    ActiveConnectionsCurrentCount: 3
    ActiveConnectionsHighCount: 34_
    CachingDisabled: true
    ConnectionDelayTime: 77
    ConnectionLeakProfileCount: 0
    ConnectionsTotalCount: 105
    CurrCapacity: 34_
    DeploymentState: 2
    Enabled: true
    FailuresToReconnectCount: 0
    HighestNumAvailable: 50
    HighestNumUnavailable: 0
    LeakedConnectionCount: 0
    MaxCapacity: 50
    NumAvailable: 31
    NumUnavailable: 0
Any ideas why CurrCapacity = 34 and less than Initial capacity , In my understanding WL should run with CurrCapacity=50.
    Thanks in advance

Hi. I there comes an episode where WLS needs to purge it's pool, such as if there was
a network hiccup or DBMS cycling that killed all the connections, then WLS will repopulate
the pool lazily, one-by-one as load requires. So, the current contents when purged will
be zero (less than initial capacity) and has grown for you according to need, to 34 so far.

  • CMP2 work force planning available capacity shows less

In CMP2 workforce planning : The available capacity for a person (assigned to activity) shows 7.5 Hrs each day although Capacity for that one resours is 8 Hrs (=Operating time). There is only 1 capacity in the work center.
Can some one give any idea why this descrepancy ?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Also check the formula used in the capacities tab of the workcenter.

  • MacBook Pro w 500 GB hard drive less than 10% avail.

I have a MacBook Pro w 500 GB hard drive less than 10% avail.  My iPhoto file is huge, almost all of my space.  Apple tech support suggested a 2 GB Time Capsule. I haven't been able to set up iPhotos off of the laptop to work remotely in iphotos.  Is this the setup I should be going for or would buying a iMac with 3 GB hard drive be better solution?

I agree with Linc.  I suggest you upgrade your internal drive to a 1 TB drive for lots of space and a substantial boost of speed.  Managing one internal drive is much easier than managing external storage, especially when you consider the need to backup the data.
New 1 TB hybrid SSD-disk drives deliver high capacity with an 8 GB SSD buffer that performs at SSD-like speeds.  Google "Seagate 1 TB hybrid-drive 2.5”.

  • Workforce planning- issue with available capacity

    Hi All,
I have an issue in workforce planning. I have created a workcentre and have entered the required details in capacity tab to arrive at available capacity. The available capacity for this workcentre is visible in transaction CM01.
I have done the workforce palnning using worcentre view in transaction CMP3, but for some reason I am unable to see the workcentre avaliabile capacity. I only see the distributed total requirements.
Would appreciate any pointers on this.
    Regards
    Pradeesh

Regarding the availablity of CMP3, it refers the availability of  assigned persons rather than the work centers.
Please check the involved person with transaction PA30 using infotype 007
(see details in consultant note 543362).
    Kind regards,

  • SNP Resource available capacity variance

    Hi friends,
    need your help??
I am using an SNP resource with capacity 500 min per day(Bucket). but after thew SNP run when i download the optimizer log data( Transaction:/SAPAPO/SNPOPLOG) the available capacity derived from the log is for the particular day is different than the actual capacity of the resource(i.e. it is less than the actual available capacity).
How can be this issue resolved.??
    please revert back urgently

    Hi kiran ,
Check for the following possible reasons :
Try this resource in SNP Heuristic and check the capacity and do levelling.
Check the Time zone and the calenders for this resource and plant.
Check the overload % and min load % rounding & down times.
    See oss note 510339.
Optimizer gives the results based on the settiing you have entered, and you will only be able to analyse it better .

  • PO is getting released even if the total amount is less than the last PO am

Purchase Order is getting released even if the total amount is less than the last PO amount. The release strategy is only working for the first Purchase Order and if the PO amount is greater than the last PO amount.
Please let me know how to correct this scenario (release strategy).
    Regards,
    Prishu

    Hi,
Release strategy has nothing do with the previous PO amount. May be, Co-incidently the amount in previous PO which you are referring and the characteristics value maintained in the release strategy is same.
    1) Please go in release strategy by the path mentioned below
IMG u2013 Material Management u2013 Purchasing u2013 Purchase Requisition u2013 Release Procedure u2013 Procedure with Classification u2013 Set Up Procedure with Classification
    2) Then go to release strategy. Here the total available release strategies would be displayed. Double click the strategy which is getting reflected in the PO you want and go the classifiction tab. There you will get the PO value. Based on this characteristic value the respective release streategy gets refelected.
    I hope this clarifies.

We just recently increased the available memory from 8GB to 24GB to help ensure that there is enough memory. This error never happened on CRM v4. According to the resource monitor, SQL is only reserving 20.7GB of RAM and there is 694MB of RAM in Standby.
The main Async service is using 660MB and the maintenance Async service is using 265MB.
To resolve the issue temporarily, I restarted both Async services this morning. Shortly after everything came back, they were holding fairly steady around 350MB and 200MB. It's been six hours since then.
The last time I spoke with Microsoft about a similar problem, they suggested increasing the amount of RAM.

It became more and more of a problem. It was impacting the users in a more subtle way at first. You couldn't configure the CRM for Outlook client. After a while, they couldn't use CRM in Outlook at all and users reporting not being able to complete phone
call activities. I opened a ticket with MS and they suggested the same as Wilson Lou did. The organization error had nothing to do with the creep on the async services usage of RAM. It was indeed caused by SQL stealing all of the memory. Limiting the max usage
to 24GB RAM has resolved that error.
My Async processes are still using a LOT of RAM, but now that I have more than enough RAM, it doesn't seem to be a problem anymore. They are currently using about 700MB RAM each.
    Also, I have upgraded to SP1, UR2.
