Available Loops and Effect Presets Disappeared?

Hello.
Been on garage band for about 2 weeks now. Suddenly when I looked at my loop index there was a bunch of them greyed out. They were not like this before. Also, when I click an effect, say "Track Reverb" it doesn't give me any preset options.. They just aren't there, and they were before.
What has happened?

In Adobe 3.0 I seem to be able to access the plugins but all the presets that they originally came with, as well as the ones I had added have disappeared. Does anyone know how to restore them?

Unfortunately, due to Adobe's attitude to the running of forums (don't get me started on that again!) none of the FAQs that were on this forum exist at all on it any more. Fortunately for you, AudioMasters managed to save them all, and with the blessing of the person who wrote most of them, we have incorporated them into the ones we already had, so we now have the lot, in a form where they can be preserved and maintained - the two things that this forum management seem to be congenitally incapable of doing. Saving Sequence and Effects Presets that go with the project itself

Hi, please be gentle as I'm a newbie to the site.
I have been asked to create several master Premiere Pro projects in CC (templates if you like) that will be being sent to quite a few ops worldwide, many of whom are completely new to the Adobe Platform, so I would like to keep things as simple as I can for them.
Is it possible to create sequence presets and a few effects presets that actually go with the project. At the moment when I've tried opening projects on another machine with a different user account, it overwrites everything with their presets and I can't find anything to stop that from happening. I'm assuming it's to do with sync settings.
However, is there a function to allow premiere pro to open the project with the project's last settings (sequence and effects presets) rather than default to the user prefs? As an aside, I'm not interested in workspace or keyboard shortcuts - that's down to them!
If it's not possible, is there a very simple step-by-step workflow I can use? But I'd really like to avoid trying to explain how to install sequence and effect presets to loads of different ops if I can!!
Finally (wrong forum I know) but I need to do exactly the same thing with the assocated After Effects master template projects, so any help on that would be gratefully received too.

Welcome to the forum!
When it comes to effects presets, you should be able to right-click on the Presets in the Effects bin and Export Presets...
The ops can then import the presets using the same method (right-click on the presets in the effects bin and choose Import Presets...)
For sequence presets, I can't find a way to do it within the software. Someone else will probably have to help you find it, but I'm certain there is a file somewhere in your computer that stores all of your Sequence Presets, so it would be a matter of finding and sharing that file with the ops, and then telling them where to put that file.

Professional Animated Lower Thirds, Transitions, and effect presets.

I shoot and edit a lot of video and would like to know of some professional template HD animations I could get to spice these projects up a bit. Some are business projects, some personal like weddings and parties, some are live bands or music videos.
Is there a company/site out there that has a great selection of these sorts of templates and/or even presets for fast/great effects? mostly I need animated templates for lower thirds, transitions, and intros...
Also, if anyone would like to share what they do in premiere for professional effects that would be sweet. Like what effects you use that I should consider to make the videos more interesting while staying professional...

I make graphic sequences from scratch for lwer 3rds in Premiere. Main tool being the title maker.
I start with HD sequence I'll call Lwr_3rdBking. On this I'll compose motion and layering of solid graphic clips created with Premiere's title maker, photoshop, AE, In camera FX shots, whatever works. I use the Blend option in the opacity controls to create some neat looks.
Then I'll nest the Lwr_3rdBking sequence, and use a 4 point garbage matt to draw a shape the size of a lower 3rd bar. Basically cropping the nested Lwr_3rdBking sequence.
Then I'll use the title maker to draw a lwer 3rd box over the cropped and matted Lwr_3rdBking. I take care to match the size neatly. I turn off the fill color of the box I just made, the turn on inner stroke, set it to bevel and adjust the bevel gradient. Shadow could also be added.
When I'm happy with the lower 3rd frame that I created with Title maker, I will lay it on top of the nested & cropped Lwr_3rdBking sequence, The gives me a lower 3rd graphic that has motion within and is framed nicely.
If I use it repeatedly, I just duplicated the original Lwr_3rdBking sequence in the project window, rename it for it's purpose. Then add whatever text to the each new Lwr_3rd sequence.
It may seem laborious, but really once you settle on an initial design, the creation of subsequent title sequences is very speedy.

Here's the short-cut solution:
Green Apple tracks are MIDI files (so to speak). If you drag one from the loop browser (Capitol C Orchestral hit, as you mentioned in this exable) directly into the arrange page it creates the MIDI file and the instrument to play it back on.
HOWEVER.If you create and audio track first, THEN drag the green Apple loop onto that track, the loop will get "bounced" with the reverb in tact and you'll have the exact sound that you heard in the preview.
Make sense?

"Lightroom Effect Presets" Don't Always Work (especially vignette 1 and sharpen-faces). Suggestions?

I am using version 5.4 and have had a consistent problem with this and earlier versions on two different machines, both powerful. The Lightroom Effect Presets sometimes do not respond.
Anyone have the same problem and a solution? Thank you.

I have no clue, but it might make a difference depending on the form being produced in Acrobat versus Designer. Acrobat will take you both places and one of them may have an issue with backward compatibility. I have not heard of that, but it is a possibility.

Focus search field when open Presets and Effects panel

Hi Adobe-Forum.
I like to get the cursor automatically placed into the search-field of the preset and effects panel.
Exists a shortcut or an option for that?
It’s annoying to use the mouse to get into this field by hand.

I was mistaken. Every time I go to that panel I click in the search field. I don't recall ever clicking in the panel first then the search field. It was not until I tried it buy clicking outside the search field that I discovered the problem.
It looks like there is no way to make it automatically focus when selecting the panel with a keyboard shortcut. Might be time for a feature request.
For most of my effects I add them in the ECP (Effects control Panel and then type the first letter of the category, right arrow, then the first letter of the effect. This works for me because I know where just about all of them are from experience. If I do have to search I simply click directly in the search field.

Lion 10.7.5 Recovery install loops and will not complete install.

Hi on my Mid 2009 Macbook Pro with 8GB Ram it seems that a virus got into the system and was causing Safari to crash then affected iTunes, MS Word 2008, and others to malfunction.
Steps taken:
1. Started in recovery mode on Recovery Partiion selected and recovered from TimeMachine backup
2. On start up checked Software update and said All Up to Date.
3. Safari still quiting unexpectedly.
4. Started in recovery mode on Recovery Partiion selected and Installed new OS X Lion from recovery. This would not complete after 2 attempts was starting to loop. It will show the blue bar that it has 2 hrs 22 min, 1 hr 11 min, 34 min 32 ...etc then after 2 min it will then say -1,384,587,231 hours to complete, then go back to about 34 min. the blue bar is filled 100% at this point. Then it will do it all over and over again.
I restarted and things appeared to be working okay. I left the computer on with one web page and a Word file open while I did work on another computer. It started a new Time Machine backup and seemed to be doing fine. Then I heard it restart itself! I checked to see what would happen. It showed the grey progress bar below the apple logo like it is starting in Safe Mode, then the progress bar disappeared before completing and it just shows the spining icon for over an hour? It appeared to be screwed. I shut the computer off and same result to restart.
5. Started in recovery mode on Recovery Disk usb drive selected and erased Hard Drive to Mac OS (Extened Journaled).
Tested OK after erase.
6. Ran Recover Lion again, and again and again same result.
7. Left running overnight, and still running the loop and not completing.
8. Reset SMC
9. Reset PRAM
10. Erased hard drive again formated Mac OS (Extened Journaled)
11. Started in recovery mode on Recovery Disk usb drive Installed new OS X Lion from recovery - Same result loops and Never completes
12. downloaded RecoveryDiskAssistant.dmg and created a new Lion Recovery usb
13. Erased hard drive again formated Mac OS (Extened Journaled)
14. Started in recovery mode on Recovery Disk new usb drive Installed new OS X Lion from recovery - Same result loops and Never completes
That is where I am at at this point. The drive is new (within 2 months or so since installed) and it reformats okay and seems to test okay in Disk Utiliy
I had also used the Terminal to run diskutil eraseDisk HFS+ MacHD "/Volumes/disk0"
This did erase the disk and had tried Lion recovery install again and still fails. I would even try Mountain Lion, but have not upgraded to it yet. I think I need the computer working to purchase and install it.
I checked the TimeMachine back up disk on my iMac and disk utility says it needs repairs, when repairing it just goes and goes with no result and does not seem to be able to repair.
So at this point I would like to just get the laptop to install an operating system and work. Then I will see if there is a way to recover files on the time machine back up disk.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

I have even reinstalled Safari to no avail.
The only way to reinstall Safari on a Mac running Lion or Mountain Lion is to reinstall OS X using OS X Lion: About Lion Recovery
You mentioned that you have v10.7.5 installed but I see v10.8.1 in your profile ??
Exactly which OS X is installed ???
Troubleshooting suggestions may be based on that information.

Effects Presets Missing!!!

Well, here's a new one. Suddenly, a number of my effects and effect pre-sets have disappeared!
I go to studio reverb, and the only preset there is "studio reverb"...no drum plates...nothing else...in fact if I go to the "time and pitch" effect, the only choice there is "Pitch Shifter", and it has no presets...
several of my "restoration" effects are gone!
Yet, oddly enough, all my "Delay" effects and pre-sets are still there.
I'm guessing that it may have been caused by a power outage last night, but I wasn't even using Audition at the time...
I'm just not sure what to do here...any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Check your hard drive by using check disk... Open up My Computer then right click the hard drive and select properties. In the dialog that appears select the 'Tools' tab at the top and then click 'Check now'... This will start the Check Disk utility where all you should have to do is click start... If you do this on all drives before restarting it will scan all the scheduled ones after a restart...
If this doesn't help then you can try checking the Audition.ini (or .cfg I just can't remember) file for errors and possibly fix them that way...
If that doesn't help then just backup your .ini (or .cfg) file after setting the presets you want... You should be able to get all the default ones by re-installing or repairing the installation, but that won't restore any of the ones you lost...
Just a shot in the dark though...

Loops and building a library

I am a college student in songwriting and music technology. I am working in both Protools and Logic and I find Logic best for writing and Protools best for editing. I want to build even a larger loop library than what is available in Logic Pro 9. I have noticed that I can buy loops a la carte or large packages of loops and save ( Loopmasters.com has a producer package for $694) . I am concerned about format and the ability to manipulate these loops. Midi vs. audio files. Can anyone give me advice for the best way to approach building this massive library of loops?

If you choose to buy loops formatted for the Apple brand (Apple Loops) these audio files are optimized for the use of Logic Pro. So beat matching , tempo and Key changes will work as expected. If you have purchase the Logic Studio Box version, you will find an Apple Loop creating program in your Utility Folder. With it you can start to make your own Apple Loops from any file. And Logic can read rex files that time stretch well and broadcast wave files that contains data for tempo matching and so on. Also when using non apple loops in your project you can right click on the loop, follow the menu to export and create loops in your Apple Loops Browser as well.

Why are Loops and Drum Kit greyed out on GarageBand 10?

I've looked and researched every forum and help section on fixing this issue but to no avail, I see some people having success but they seem to have different situations. Unless I'm missing a step or something.
Here is my situation: I have OSX Mavericks installed on my iMac, I re-installed GarageBand from the App Store. I also bought the $5 loop in-app purchase. When I opened GarageBand and signed in, it asked if I wanted to download the loops and drum kits, so I clicked to download rather than cancel, it seemed to be downloading ok and after 2 hours the progress bar was filled up with blue but nothing happened, seemed like the app crashed, so I Force Quit GB. When I re-opened the app, I noticed the loops and drums were still greyed out, then a pop-up came up saying that it was unable to complete download and to check internet connection. When I go to Software Update, there are no updates showing for GB and the purchases tab shows GB installed.
I'd like to get these activated since I made the purchase. If I need to speak to someone directly from Apple, does anyone have a number I can call?

There is a "Contact Us" link directly on this page, in the lower right corner. On the page that will open look for the link "Start your Request Online".
Check the following things:
Do you have enough free disk space? The in-app purchase has 20.1 GB.
Do you have any firewall or antivirus filters active? Disable them, when you try again.
Try the download from an administrator account.
It may also be a problem with your AppleID and Region settings.
Did you buy (or accept) GarageBand 10 on your Mac with the same AppleID you are using to restore the Purchase? Did you buy GarageBand in the same country where you are now?

Click the "ViewAccount " link and reenter (not only check) all billing address setting.

To oversimplify, PDFs are for the user to read, and derivatives of the HTML versions are for the computer to read. Both formats are, of course, readily recognized and indexed by Spotlight. Journal articles have two essential components with regards to a database: the topical content of the article itself, and the cited references to other scientific literature. While a PDF merely lists these references, the HTML version has, in addition, links to the cited items. Each link URL contains the digital object identifier (doi) for the item it points to. A doi is a unique string that points to one and only one object, and can be quite useful if rendered in a manner that enables indexing by Spotlight. Embedded URL's are, of course, ignored by Spotlight. As a result, HTML-formatted articles must be processed so that URL's are openly displayed as readable text before Spotlight will recognize them. Conversion to DOC format using MS Word, followed by conversion to RTF using Text Edit accomplishes this, but is quite labor intensive.
In the last few months, I have added about 3,500 articles to this collection, which means that any procedure for rendering URL's must be automated and able to process large batches of documents with minimal user oversight. This procedure needs to generate a separate file for each HTML document processed. Trials using Automator's "Get Specified Finder Items" and "Get Selected Finder Items", as well as "Ask For Finder Items" (along with "Get URLs From Web Pages") give unsatisfactory results. What I need is a command that accepts multiple input documents, but processes them one at a time, generating a separate output for each file processed. Is there a way for Automator to do this?

With the project all done, i'm preparing for the presentation. Managed to get my hands on a HD beamer for the night (Epason TW2000) and planning to do the presentation in HD.
That of course managed to bring up some problems. I posted a thread which i'll repost here . Sorry for the repost, i normally do not intend to do this, but since this thread is actually about the same thing, i'd like to ask the same question to you. The end version is in AfterEffects, but that actually doesn't alter the question. It's about export:
"I want to export my AE project of approx 30 min containing several HD files to a Blu Ray disc. The end goal is to project the video in HD quality using the Epson EMP-TW2000 projector. This projector is HD compatible.
To project the video I need to connect the beamer to a computer capable of playing a heavy HD file (1), OR burn the project to a BRD (2) and play it using a BRplayer.
I prefer option 2, so my question is: which would be the preferred export preset?
Project specs:
                    - 1920x1080 sq pix (16:9)
                    - 25 fps
                    - my imported video files (Prem.Pro sequences) are also 25 fps and are Progressive (!)
To export to a BRD compatible format, do i not encounter a big problem: my projectfiles are 25 fps and progressive, and I believe that the only Bluray preset dispaying 1920x1080 with 25 fps requests an INTERLACED video (I viewed the presets found on this forum, this thread)... There is also a Progr. format, BUT then you need 30 fps (29,...).
So, is there one dimension that can be changed without changing the content of the video, and if yes which one (either the interlacing or the fps).
I'm not very familiar with the whole Blu-ray thing, I hope that someone can help me out."

Firefox main window goes black and all tools disappear.

Occasionally the Firefox main window will go black and all tools disappear.
It ends up with a black window, a blue frame, and the three buttons in the top right corner (minimize, maximize and close). If any audio (or video) is playing, the sound continues. If I click the X at top right to close it, it closes and when I restart it everything is ok. See the screenshot below.
This only happens once a day or so. I have no way of predicting it other than I'm usually scrolling down the page when it happens. It has happened in safe mode.
I'm using the most recent Firefox, 33.0.2, on Win 8.1 on an i5 system with 8G RAM.

My App store and itunes has disappeared from my iphone

My app store and itunes apps have disappeared from my iphone.
I suspect Apple is responsible and is trying to force an upgrade. Does anyone know if this is true? because if it is we should object to this.
The upgrade on my ipad was such a horrible experience, I don't want to do it to upgrade my iphone. (Upgrades have been a nightmare every since the itunes interface was changed. In my view, iTunes is the now one of the most unintuitive interface imaginable - [bar windows 8]. Prior to that it was generally easy to do upgrades and backups without hiccups and the interface was great. Now its too obscure to find what you need to do.)
I have been an Apple fan since the original Apple computer - but am not very happy with recent changes that affect use-ability and reliability.
General grumbling aside - every time you upgrade, you have to reload all of your apps; and a lot of favorite apps won't work with the new system. That's another reason I don't want to upgrade.
Without the App and iTunes application - you can't selectively update the apps you want to update or even access your music.
Questions:
1. Does anyone know why the Apps and iTunes apps disappeared? (I'm not the only one complaining about this.)
2. Does anyone know how to get them back without having to effectively erase your phone and start over?
3. Does anyone know how to get iTunes on the computer to recognize your iiphone when the itunes app disappeared off it?

Thank you again for the advice. But, rebooting did not help.
In the end I was forced to upgrade.
I am relieved to say that this upgrade went very smoothly compared to other upgrades.
I did not have to re-download apps and they appear to be in their normal folders - except a new app page 2 (after the primary page) appeared containing only the missing apps. This was not there before.
Answer to the disappearing Apple App Store and iTunes Dilemma:
The answer to this problem unfortunately appears to be to upgrade the system.
In my experience the Apps (which presumably are removed to force the user into an upgrade) then re-appear.
On the positive side, at least on this occasion, it did not turn out to be a nightmare make work project.

Contacts and calendar items disappear when exchange server is off

Hi All
I've been having this problem for a few weeks now and it's most frustrating. My iphone is setup to sync over the air to our corporate exchange server. It seems that when the server is down for repair/patching ALL my contacts and calendar items disappear from my iphone. This doesn't seem to happen if the phone is out of signal?
I know that I can sync directly with Outlook, however this would then mean that the phone is only updated when synced with my laptop at work. If I sync both over the air AND with Outlook, I get duplicates of everything in my calendar.
I'm not restoring my iphone to factory defaults to get rid of the duplicates and go back to over the air sync only.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get calendar and contacts to work "offline" when the exchange server is down?
Main PC is running Windows 7 and exchange is 2007. This problem is only recent, I think in the last month of two. Nothing has changed other than the last few firmware updates from Apple.

hi, cheers for the info. That would make sense, however how come when I'm out of signal and not connected to wifi, the data doesn't also disappear as that too would render the server "unavailable".
Is there a way to make the iphone keep a copy of the data much the same as "offline mode" in Outlook where you can still browse your email, calendar and contacts when the server is offline, and it picks up where it left off when the server is available again?
I appreciate this may not be a "problem" as such, but is frustrating as all my contacts and calendar live in Outlook and I can't function without them
