Availablity date keeps moving - why?

I'm not happy with my current broad band supplier and I've been considering a move for a while.
I have been considering BT but unless I can get a faster speed I don't really think the move is worth it. Our exchange has been updated (Consett) but the cabinet hasn't (DH8 0DH). I've been keeping tabs on infinity availability for the past year but every time we get with a few days of the availability date it changes and the date is pushed back 3 months.
This has been going on for over a year and I'm just waiting for it to happen again (current date is forecast for 31/12/2012). I can understand the date being moved by a few weeks due to unforseen circumstances but by 3 months each time and for over a year?
Surely you can come up with a more accurate estimate?
Any idea if the end of december estimate will stick this time? If so why is it getting pushed back by 3 months each time?

Firstly, welcome to the forum!
I'm sorry to tell you that your story of moving dates, just before the end of the quarter, seems all too common!
But this is not the fault of BT Retail, but BT OpenReach, whic h operates as an entirely separate company.  Open Reach was set up to provide the infrastructure to all ISPs (apart from Virgin, who have their own cable network).
Because OR is a virtual monopoly, they can do (and seem to do) exactly as they like.
So, there is very little you can do to speed things along, unless you want to contact your MP to try to raise the profile of your case.

    I have been waiting for the roll out for 4 months now. When I checked the availability in May the telephone number checking program  said it would be available on June 30th. Then a few days before this date it slipped to September 30th. Now a few days ago it went back to 31st December. Why does this keep on happening ?

    i have the same problem - even brought a super-duper-new win7 4core computer a month ago as my old xp 2xcore one may be too slow to cope with infinity.
    it is either the demand they have for those who have infinity, or they are sending too many engineers sorting out the problems with the current system, and would not cope with the demand. on reading the other forums on here, i would say the latter is more apt, even if moving people to infinity may cure theother problems.

  • The time and date keeps unlocking, why wont it stay locked?

    everytime i start my computer the date and time has changed to some crazy past date lite 1969. I fix and lock it and when i shutdown and return it has unlocked and changed again. How do I keep it locked.

    PowerBooks, with a couple of minor exceptions, have a clock/PRAM backup battery inside, usually a Li-Ion rechargeable battery that can last nearly ten years or which can punk out after five years or so, depending on the luck of the draw.  When the clock comes up set to baseline (midnight GMT January 1, 1970) repeatedly, that is a dead giveaway that the backup battery is kaput.  That being said, the main battery should hold things up for quite a while, unless it is tanking as well.  (More on that below.)  There are relatively easy fixes for the problem that we can point you to.
    What is the specific PowerBook model giving you this problem?  Screen size, processor speed and machine model.  Launch System Profiler in your Utilities folder in the Applications folder.  You should see a Hardware Overview like this in Tiger:

    I have mine set to Snap to Grid and my Macintosh HD icon stays in the upper right corner, and I’m also using Spaces.
    Maybe if you try adjusting the Grid Spacing it would help.
    Or you could try moving the finder.plist file to the Desktop from your Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences folder and restarting. If that doesn’t fix it you can move the finder.plist file back to the Preferences folder to replace the new one it created.

    You need to be using the same icloud account on both devices if you want your data synced between them.

    if you want to, i can also try to guide you through it. it shouldn't be that difficult, but will require a bit of time.
    * first you'd have to download and install (confirm all setup steps & click close once the process is completed) the the tool from http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mozilla/libraries/win32/MozillaBuildSetup-Latest.exe
    * then open windows explorer and navigate to your C:-drive and then the ''mozilla-build'' folder. in there you'll find a file named ''start-l10n.bat'' - just double-click on that.
    *in the black terminal window that opens, type in: ''easy_install mozregression'' & hit enter
    *once this process is finished, enter ''mozregression --good=2013-06-24 --bad=2013-08-05'' into the same window.
    *now the process will automatically download browser builds from the time the error first occurred - just wait until a firefox "nightly" window opens and test if you can reproduce the bug there. then close the browser windows and enter ''good'' or ''bad'' into the terminal depending on if you got the error this time.
    *this process will continue automatically until the exact date is found when the bug was introduced in the browser - the window will then display a so called regression window and a pushlog. this is the critical piece of information we'd need, so developers can take over and start fixing what's going wrong...
    *you can then close the terminal window and delete the ''C:\mozilla-build'' folder again

  • TIme and Date keep changoing

    I am running the New 21.5 iMac with 10.6.1 and bootcamp with windows 7. My time and date keep changing, going forward 2-3 days and changing from AM to PM. This happens when I boot into Windows 7 or put it to sleep. I tried setting it to use the Apple NTP server and setting it manually, but neither keep it correct. Also, this is another issue, the display drivers do not offer the highest or correct resolution in Windows 7, it only shows a generic VGA display adapter in device manager.
