Availibility of ADOBE forms in IDES

Hey Gurus,
SAP implementation is in progress in my group, mostly all the members are kinda freshers in this project from both the sides, So kindly suggest me how to do practice on ADOBE form as i have been told that ADLC can not be installed in IDES.
I have tried out a lot but couldnt find any solution.
Waiting for the valuable comments.

Hi Vicky,
ADLC(Adobe livecycle designer) is installed on user machine so it can be installed on your desktop to design adobe forms.
But you cannot practice adobe forms in IDES. for that you must have a licensed server.
However you can practice on free miniSAP servers provided online:
like one given below:

I am not sure whether it has ADS configuration done on it or not but you can try.

How to display Formatted text view in adobe forms

Hi Folks,
We have a element formatted text edit/view in webdynpro so it is easy to make the text formates(Bullets, font sizes, etc..) in webdynpro, but the same feature is not available in Adobe forms designer...I don't find any element in the Adobe Library...
If any body have an idea how to display the formatted text in adobe, please let me know the procedure.
I have a html tag related data in my Ztable..I want to display this converted string from HTML Tab on adobe, please explain me how to fix this issue.

I found Your blog and found it really interesting... though I was not able to use it: I (like Jun Li is asking, I guess) need to use a dynamic text, containing formatting informations (according the xhtml syntax).
I tried to pass it to the form by an ABAP-dictionary based interface and by means of the context (in a webdynpro page), but both tries failed.
Some suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

We do allow Adobe Forms questions in this forum only if the question pertains to their usage within Web Dynpro ABAP. I don't see anything in your question that fits that description. You seem to have general forms questions and ones that pertain to the usage by print driver programs. I would suggest that your question is really better suited to the Adobe Forms Forum or the ABAP Print Forms Forum.

If ur transaction supports message control technique then u can attach a PDF form and its driver prog. name with an output type from transaction NACE.

Regarding adobe forms.

While executing the standard dunning adobe form it is displaying some error .
can anybody say the reason for this and procedure to check the output.

Using SFP Tcode , first you need to create a interface . in interface you can declare the import and export parameters and also the declaration part, coding etc : This is nothing but similar to Function module interface.
And now we have to create the Form which is interactive. Create the form and enter the interface name which you have created in first step, so that the parameters , declarations of fields etc : will be copied and available in the form layout. So that you can drag and drop these declared fields ( dclared fields of interface ) to the layout.
Create the context and layout in the form.
The layout generated can be previewed and saved as PDF output.
Now we need to integrate the driver program and the PDF form to get the final output as per the requirement.
On activating and executing the form you will get a function module name just similar to smartforms.
The driver program needs to call this FM.
Refer to the below sample code :

Adobe form as a webdynpto component

Hi all,
I am working on cprojects.
The requirement is to add a new tab in the cproject screen, which has been done.
when we press the new tab, one layout should be displayed in Pdf format, where some fields should be editable to enter values by the user. All the data entered by the user should be stored in a ztable.
For which, I've created a layout using Adobe form, which has to be attached in that tab page. How to attach the form interface as webdynpro component in cproject.

hi all,
i need to develop adobe forms...i have never done adobe forms before this..except the layout part other things are almost clear..in help.sap.com there is no details on layout..i want to know about body pages,master pages,subforms,content area and how to use them....

ADOBE Forms.

Hello All,
Can anybody confirm who has worked on ADOBE Forms confirm that when a new spool request is generated what format the spool is in.
1. Is the spool in old script format or in PDF format ?
2. Can I have some ADOBE forms documentatino ?

Interactive Forms based on Adobe software is SAP's new solution for forms development. Its first release has the focus on interactive use of forms. High-volume printing is supported in principle, but - being a new solution - the performance has not yet reached the same level as Smart Forms or SAPscript, two established solutions that had years to grow. Interactive Forms is the only solution that will continue to be enhanced with new features, while SAPscript and Smart Forms will be supported without limitations.
When (or if) to move to Interactive Forms depends on your requirements. For interactive forms usage, i.e. the new functions, you have no choice, as the existing solutions don't support it. High-volume print scenarios need to be carefully analyzed to see whether your concrete requirements can be met at this point.
However, it is possible to move to Smart Forms and design your forms in such a way that a migration at any point in the future would be but a small step. Smart Forms offers from Web AS 6.40 a migration wizard to Interactive Forms. Technically, everything can be migrated, but we recommend against things like ABAP program nodes, for example.
You are not forced to ever go to Interactive Forms if you don't want to. It really depends on whether your client needs any of the new features in Interactive Forms. Also, if they are currently working with JetForms, they could enquire with Adobe directly what migration path they offer to the joint solution.

To get an overview idea about Adobe forms ,
Using SFP Tcode , first you need to create a interface . in interface you can declare the import and export parameters and also the declaration part, coding etc : This is nothing but similar to Function module interface.
And now we have to create the Form which is interactive. Create the form and enter the interface name which you have created in first step, so that the parameters , declarations of fields etc : will be copied and available in the form layout. So that you can drag and drop these declared fields ( dclared fields of interface ) to the layout.
Create the context and layout in the form.
The layout generated can be previewed and saved as PDF output.
Now we need to integrate the driver program and the PDF form to get the final output as per the requirement.
On activating and executing the form you will get a function module name just similar to smartforms.
The driver program needs to call this FM.
Refer to the below sample code :

Adobe Forms - Workflow - EP

Hi,
I am doing some loude thinking. Currently working on a proposal to create an application with Adobe Forms. The idea is to have a workflow as well where the relevant party fills in their part of a form and so it moves to the next. The forms will be made available centrally via EP. I just like some suggestions on what would be the best way to have the workflow. There is a WAS (Java) available as well.

Hi Khuram,
the integration of Interactive Forms and workflow is an area where SAP currently offers different possibilities. SAP plans to expand on the functions offered in the near future.
As of today, you have basically two choices:
1. Use the Internet Service Request framework used in mySAP ERP for HR and FI processes (see also http://service.sap.com/isr).
ISR has been expanded with mySAP ERP 2004 to be able to employ Interactive Forms (and Web Dynpro for Java at runtime), so it natively runs in the Portal. It currently offers the possibility to fill in forms online and make backend checks before processing the data entry. The downside: You need mySAP ERP 2004. (On the Interactive Forms homepage in SDN at http://sdn.sap.com/sdn/adobeforms.sdn you can find a good article under Current Articles on this written by Alan Rickayzen.)
2. Build your form using the ABAP integration of Interactive Forms, build a workflow from scratch using these development objects, then somehow get this into the Portal. This is, however, an option involving a lot of manual coding. I assume this wouldn't be wanted.
There will be an additional way to do this in the future:
With mySAP ERP 2005 (ramp-up starts in October 2005, mass shipment planned for Q2/2006), SAP will ship a framework called Guided Procedures that will do pretty much exactly what you are looking at: By default, it runs in the Portal (using the Universal Worklist) and uses, among others, PDF forms, including for offline workflows. It uses the SAP workflow engine to route the work items. You configure the workflow in a Portal-based interface that can be used by business process people as well.
As I said, it'll be shipped to all customers with mySAP ERP 2005 (in SAP NetWeaver 2004s). You will be able to hear more about this at SAP TechEd as part of the IT scenario Business Task Management.

SAP and Adobe Form - Scripting Issues

before i start with the the issue, I would like to describe some functions which we have developed in our adobe form (not interactive Form!).
We are displaying XHTML Text coming from SAP , in order to load the XTHML into the controls we are calling the following line of code during the initialize event:

The first functionality was working always pretty good. For making the second functionality available we started calling the Adobe Forms using the Parameter DYNAMIC = 'X'. Unfortunaltey the first functionality is then not working anymore correctly. We have tried to change javascript processing to server side/client side and both, but in the mode DYNAMIC = 'X' it does not have any influence, all javascript is performed at the client and at runtime. The result is that some pdf reader can not see the XTHML texts and we are expierencing some other problems with pictures.
We need to have both functionalities working at the same time for all readers. I guess this is only possible if the javascript is processed at the server side and the ADS returns a finished/static PDF document.
Does anyone has an idea how to solve this issue ?

Hi Santhosh,
You can try the following..
In the backend use Tcode SE91.. fill in QISR as the Message Class & 402 as the Message Number and click on the 'Where-Used List' icon in the menu.. If the message is not triggered dynamically, it will take you to the program where it is triggered.. may be that will help you locate the error..

Hiring Adobe Form-Performance problem

Hello,
We have developed a hiring Adobe form using HCM F & P. It has 8 pages, many user events. It gives the user option to enter
all infotypes used in hiring process. Now the issue is with the performance. The form is taking around 40 seconds to launch
and to do any user event. Let me know if you know of any method to improve the performance.
Is it possible to work with the form section by section, initially first page gets loaded, then on click of a button next page is loaded
like that. And when we do user event is it possible not to submit entire 8 pages to the backend and only submit the
required section.

We developed a very complex AIF that would have been much easier to develop in WDA, but the PM wanted a nicely designed UI for the users. We spent months on this process, when the same thing could have been done in a few weeks. W
There are a number of limitations in AIF that are available to you in WDA - it will make youre life simpler to take advantage of them and keep AIF for something less complex

Standard adobe form workflow error

Hey Expert,
I am using the standard workflow template WS17900260 for any adobe form. In this task there is a task which is TS17900108. I have some workflow that end in error because of this task raising an exception "Exception CX_SY_NO_HANDLER trigger.... An exception with the type CX_HRASR00_PROCESS_MODELLING occurred but was neither handled.
I have tested the workflow with the same set of data and the wierd thing is only some of the workflow end in error.
Anyone have any idea?

I am not sure , but would just try to give you pointers:
1. Techncial reason for workflow going to runtime error is, at this step in workflow, if there is an exception raised, it is not modelled in workflow.
2. This exception may be raise dif scenario, steps or process realted data is not available during processing of the task.
3. Authorization for specific activity is absent.
