hi Guys,
i need help on configuration of a port which is connected to avaya phone. the data vlan is 10 and voice vlan is 20.

amit

Hi Amit,
I have not worked with Avaya IP Phones, but here are 3 threads with good switchport configs;

    Hi All,
    Problem Resolved!
I notice the arrows indicated on the SFP and i swap the cables making 1A to 2B and 1B to 2A instead of the previous 1A to 2A and 1B to 2B.
How I do it? Took the risk of breaking the cables and took out 1 side of the fibre cable encasement on the LC connector from just 1 end and swap it. Fix it back and plug back to SFP.
Green LED shown! Console shows "01:10:28: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface GigabitEthernet0/2, changed state to up" and "01:10:30: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface GigabitEthernet0/2, changed state to up"!
    Great! I'm done!
Thanks a lot for all the suggestion and knowledge!

  • Ipsec tunnel across Avaya 4620 phone terminating to cisco vpn concentrator

I have been asked to test out an avaya 4620 phone with the vpn remote client installed on it for our home users.
Here is my problem. The phone connects fine to my concentrator and I have a successful ipsec tunnel built, however, the phone cannot route back to the corportate network. When I look at the tunnel stats, I see bytes received and none transferred. Also, for the ip address of the remote end, I see the ip address that was assigned to it from my local dsl router. My concentrator is supposed to forward dhcp requests on to my internal dhcp server, but this is not occurring. Has anyone seen this before or know where I should start here? any input will be greatly appreciated, thank you all for your time.

  • 802.1x MDA with Cisco 3750, ACS and Avaya phones

    Hello,
What is the minimum software level on the C3750 to support the 'device type class=voice' AV-pair returned by ACS?  I found 12.2(35) introduced MDA, but also I found 12.2(40) required for dynamic voice VLAN on MDA ports.
    What i observe is :
    - phone connects
    - phone is dot1x authenticated in data VLAN and gets its DHCP address there
    - DHCP advertises (option 242) the voice vlan id
    - phone reauthenticates in voice vlan
    - phone reacquires a new DHCP address, now in voice VLAN
so far so good ... and we start using the phone
    - pc behind phone starts and enters credentials
    - pc authenticates ok (in data vlan)
but 3750 shuts the port down per security violation ("new mac-address found").
The mac-address of the phone stays in the data vlan's  mac table, despite the phone moved correctly to the voice vlan.  This macaddress excludes the 'new' pc mac-address, causing a shutdown of the port.
NB : "setting port-security max mac-addresses" to say 5 does not change anything to  this behavior.
    Can anybody give some hints?
    Tx.

Searching further, I found that 12.2(40) requirement for dynamic voice VLAN on MDA ports only applies to dynamically provisioning the voice vlan ID by radius, applying the (65)tunnel (medium) type and (81) tunnel private groupid  attributes.  So, obviously, MDA support with 'static' voice vlan assignment by switchport configuration *should work* with our 12.2(35), *
So, the question remains : why does the data VLAN keep an entry with the phone's MAC address in its MAC table?
    Tx.

  • DHCP and voice vlan on Cisco 3560 switch

    Greetings,
I'm setting up a Cisco 3560 switch for voice and data comms. I'm looking for documentation with best practice guidelines for the following requirements.
    1. Using the Cisco 3560 as a DHCP server - Config examples.  Do I need to use different subnets for the voice and data vlans?
    2. Layer 2 CoS QoS  - I'm connecting Aastra phones as well as notebooks - I've been told that Aastra also makes use of the voice vlan config through LLDP and that Aastra phones supports CDP.
    Your assistance will be appreciated.

    Hi ,
Cisco recommends that you have a separate vlan for  voice and data with different ip subnets for voice and data. You will need to configure the dhcp pool accordingly.
Here is the config guide for setting up IOS DHCP server:

Here is the LAN qos recommendations:

  • Unable to Externally Register Phone Services on Cisco Jabber Client via Expressway E

    Hi,
I have currently deployed Cisco Jabber along with Expressway C and E for external regeneration without VPN. I have successfully registered IM and Presence service externally on the internet and I am able to chat with other Jabber users.
I am not able to register phone services for Cisco Jabber client who are registering externally over the internet without VPN.
I have checked that all the users are able to use IM and Presence along with Phone services in the internal network and over the internet using VPN. I have configured the required DNS SRV records on both the internal and external DNS Servers.
I am attaching a screen shot of the Jabber Client that is registered over the internet along with this post for your reference.
Appreciate if you can share your thoughts on the same.
Please do let me know if you need any further informaiton.
    Thank you.

I am testing with an android device, and I had to add a "digest user" on the BOT device in order for this to work. Phone services are now connected.

  • Ivette manzur : Interface errors problems on cisco 3560

    Hello,
I have a problem on one of the interfaces on a cisco 3560 switch. In fact, I set up a monitoring network recently (cacti), and I have a significant number of errors on the interfaces. the problem is that when I do a sh interface I see no errors, and even by making a clear counters it does not solve my problem .. I also changed the wiring with cat 6 cables but nothing has changed ..
What are the main causes of errors on an interface of a switch? what should I do in this case?
Thank you for your help in advance
    ivette manzur

    Hello,
I've a e61i and I experience a similar problem. My phone work very well on WiFi network with no encryption as well as 64-bit wep.
At home I've 2 wireless routers, both encrypted at 128 bits, one with WEP and the other with WPA. On both of them I can correctly obtain an IP thru DHCP, but the traffic do not go thru.
By using IfInfo I think I discovered the reason of the problem (unless IfInfo is not working properly...) and it seems a bug related to the netmask, broadcast and gateway settings. The router is 192.168.15.1 and this is what I get:
    1) DHCP case -- I get two IP adresses: the 169.254.x.x and the one assigned to the router. DNS is also set properly, but both gateway, broadcast and netmask are set to 0.0.0.0 for both IPs.
    IP Addr: 169.254.162.106
    Netmask: 0.0.0.0
    Broadcast: 0.0.0.0
    Gateway: 0.0.0.0
    DNS1: 192.168.15.1
    IP Addr: 192.168.15.100
    Netmask: 0.0.0.0
    Broadcast: 0.0.0.0
    Gateway: 0.0.0.0
    DNS1: 192.168.15.1
    2) Static IP 192.168.15.64, netmask set to 255.255.255.0 and gateway and DNS set to 192.168.15.1. The 169.254.x.x disappears and I get only one IP which is set to:
    IP Addr: 192.168.15.64
    Netmask: 0.0.0.0
    Broadcast:192.168.15.255
    Gateway: 192.168.15.1
    DNS1: 192.168.15.1
So in conclusion, it seems that with 128bit encryption, in the DHCP case gateway, broadcast and netmask are not assigned correctly! While in the Static IP case the netmask is still not assigned correctly!!!
    Hope this can help...

  • Avaya Phone in same VLAN as workstation

Ok so here is my dilema, Avaya Phone with Docking station plugged in to it, dot1q passes the workstation fine, but hangs the phone. With out creating a voice vlan is there any way I can have the phone authenticat with mab, and the workstation with dot1q? I know the best solution is a re-design of the vlans, but thought I would throw this out to the group.
    Jeff

    Hi all,
My problem is the oposite. I have a Siemens phone connected to a c2960. The phone will do MAC authentication.
Connected to the phone I have a PC which authenticates using dot1x.
The MAC authentication is successfull but the Siemens phone is placed on the DATA vlan instead of the VOICE vlan.
At this point, for testing purposes I tried eliminating the dot1x configuration of the port. My current interface config is:
    interface GigabitEthernet0/13
    switchport access vlan 124
    switchport mode access
    switchport voice vlan 310
    authentication host-mode multi-domain
    authentication order mab
    authentication port-control auto
    authentication periodic
    authentication timer reauthenticate 300
    mab
    spanning-tree portfast
    end
I'm using an ACS radius server which is returning the "device-traffic-class=voice" but still the  phone will always end up on the Data vlan.
If no auth is configured the phone ends up in the voice vlan as expected.
Any help here will be appreciated since all the config guides I've read untill now just present the above as the necessary config.
    Best Regards,
    Pedro

  • DHCP IP assignment avaya phone

We have this config set up on our switches
    ip dhcp pool VOIP
       network 10.51.203.0 255.255.255.0
       default-router 10.51.203.254
       option 242 ascii "MCIPADD=10.51.203.250,MCPORT=1719,HTTPSRVR=10.51.3.6"
       lease 10
    interface GigabitEthernet0/3
    switchport mode access
    no logging event link-status
    no snmp trap link-status
    spanning-tree portfast
    interface GigabitEthernet0/40
description phone station 8613 mac 001b.4f31.cae1
    switchport access vlan 40
    switchport mode access
    speed 100
    duplex full
So the data vlan is default 1 on a seperate port.
And the avaya phone is on another port set to vlan 40.
I would like to use one port for both worksta and phone but how do I tell phone where its dhcp scope is and where dhcp is for the workstation?
if I need helper address where do I set it?
    This is a L3 switch
    interface Vlan1
    ip address 10.51.3.237 255.255.255.0
    ip helper-address 10.51.203.254
    no ip route-cache cef
    no ip route-cache
    interface Vlan40
    ip address 10.51.203.254 255.255.255.0
    ip default-gateway 10.51.3.254
    ip classless
    ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.51.3.254
    ip http server

    Hi John,
    Modify your conffiguration as below.
First you need to define data vlan. There use option 176 to define voice vlan using option 179 and 242
    ip dhcp pool DATA
       network 10.51.3.0 255.255.255.0
       default-router 10.51.3.257
       option 179 ascii "MCIPADD=10.51.203.250,MCPORT=1719,HTTPSRVR=10.51.3.6,L2Q=1,L2QVLAN=40"
      option 242 ascii "MCIPADD=10.51.203.250,MCPORT=1719,HTTPSRVR=10.51.3.6,L2Q=1,L2QVLAN=40"
       lease 10
    ip dhcp pool VOIP
       network 10.51.203.0 255.255.255.0
       default-router 10.51.203.254
       option 242 ascii "MCIPADD=10.51.203.250,MCPORT=1719,HTTPSRVR=10.51.3.6"
      option 179 ascii "MCIPADD=10.51.203.250,MCPORT=1719,HTTPSRVR=10.51.3.6"
       lease 10
Configure the switch port as below to define data and voice vlan
    interface GigabitEthernet0/40
description phone station 8613 mac 001b.4f31.cae1
    switchport mode access
    switchport access vlan 1
    switchport voice vlan 40
    speed 100
    duplex full
Also exclude the address which you are using for gateway
    ip dhcp excluded-address 10.51.203.254
    ip dhcp excluded-address 10.51.3.257
You dont need the dhcp helper in your case  since the dhcp client connected to the same switch. In normal case the DHCP helper would be on the L3 interface
    Hope this helps.
    Regards
    Najaf

  • Call Manager and Avaya Phones

    Hello Guys,
I am running Cisco Call Manager 7.0. I ahve 2 Avaya 4620 IP Phones and want to add them to my existing VOIP network. How do I go about doing this? All of my other phones are Cisco 79xx.

I tkink you can add avaya phone to cisco environment as a thirt party  sip phones.

  • E71x & Call Connect for Cisco

After getting the runaround from both Nokia and AT&T regarding the functionality of Call Connect for Cisco on this model of device (Nokia bounced me to AT&T, saying the E71x was AT&T's custom model, AT&T bounced me back to Nokia, saying that Nokia was the manufacturer), I finally got someone that told me Call Connect would function.
On that advice, we ordered (4) E71x's from AT&T.
They arrived today, and I'm trying to install the .SIS Call Connect package.
PC Suite is installed, the phone is talking to my PC.
I attempt to install CC, and I get:
"Application not compatible with phone.  Continue anyway?"
I go ahead and continue, it checks certificate validity, gives me details on "License Manager".
I click continue, checks certificate validity again, and starts installing (progress bar time).
    I wait.
The Nokia CC Cisco EULA comes up, I click "OK" to agree to it, and receive the warning:
    "Nokia CC Cisco
Phone model is not supported!  Press Cancel to abort installation."
Obviously, cancel aborts.  If I continue, the progress bar returns, grows, and eventually errors out with an odd tone:
    "Unable to install.  No access."
Then dumps me back to the menu.
Has anyone played with this yet?

    Hrmm...
I see that it doesn't show the Nokia VoIP 2.3 - is that required for Call Connect?  I thought Nokia VoIP was a seperate functionality.
When speaking with both AT&T and Nokia prior to our purchase of these phones, I was assured that they had the VoIP capabilities.
That list appears to be inaccurate in some aspects for the E71x - it doesn't list the following for the E71x:
    Nokia AV 2.5mm
    Nokia microUSB Cable CA-101
    USB Mass Storage
The E71x has all of these.
I'm having another problem too, locating any 802.1X configuration, which is also advertised on this model...

  • Multilayer Cisco 3560 Switched network

    Hi,
I have a multilayer Cisco 3560 network. All sites are connected to each other using RIP V2. The area marked in red is what we are having an issue with.
    1. We have remote sites connected by microwave links using Cisco 3560.
    2. In the attached image "Site-1" inherits all the configuration from the Headoffice. They also get their internet connection from the Headoffice over the " 256Kbps DSL-DATALINK".
    3. The area marked in red are the 2 sites, they were connected to each other using a data link.
    4. The 100 Mbps microwave links were commissioned lately so we want to use these links for our Internet + Data connections.
    5. HEAD OFFICE switch is running the VTP Domain.
    Question
    1. I have rip version 2 running how do I get "SITE-1" to share the internet connection from Headoffice over the Wireless Links
    2. Site-1 should get the IP address from the HeadOffice DHCP server over the wireless links.
    3. The "DSL-DATALINK" should work as a backup/redundant link. If my 100 Mbps link is down it should automatically switch to the DSL link.
Kindly give me your expert comments/suggestions in how do I go about achieving the above.

RIP works on hop-count and it will prefer the DSL connection over the Wireless link (1 hop vs 4 hops).
You can alter this behavior by creating an offset list on routes incoming the data link.
    router rip
    version 2
    offset-list 0 in 5 [data link interface]
    http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios124/124cr/hirp_r/rte_rih.htm#wp999452
You need to this on both routers (site1 and HQ).

  • Cisco Call Connect for Cisco 2.0 and E52

    Hello,
We have a lot of Eserie, old models, using Call Connect for Cisco 1.1 registered to Cisco Communications Manager 6.1. They are well registered in SCCP protocol to the CallManager, and we use the phone model type 7970 to register them.
Now, we received new model E52 which requires Call Connect for Cisco 2.0 release. But we experienced issues registering them into the CallManager 6.1 and phone model type 7970. Apparently there is a model mismatch.
I would like to know if everyone found the right model type to register them without installing the COP addon adding the Nokia CC model.
    Best regards,
    Yorick

    Hi!
Just for curiosity; why wouldn´t you install COP addon?
