AVC INTRA CODEC is not working

Im using a dual 2.5 GHz Power PC G5 8GB ram OSX 10.4.11 and FCP studio 2 w/all the latest
updates.
I get a WARNING " AVC-intra codec is unsuported on PPC" when I try to log and transfer
a avc 100 file from my 32GB P2 card .
I downloaded the codec from panasonic but its not working.
I read that it need to have an intel based mac, is this true?

  • AVC Intra Codec QT not playing

Hi, I just received footage in QT from a third party that I can't seem to play, neither on FCP or QT. The footage is in AVC Intra 100M Codec, I've downloaded the Panasonic P2 AVC Intra Codec, but still....no luck. Any ideas? Should I use compressor? I'm running FCP 6....
    Thanks.

You need at least FCP 7 to see the AVCIntra QT codec. Otherwise, you need the people to convert it to ProRes.

  • Does FCP support the new Panasonic AVC Intra codec?

Does FCP support the new Panasonic AVC Intra codec?
    NOT AVCHD but AVC Intra?
Will it require more rendering or converting before I can use it?
I am looking at buying the HPX-2000 with the new AVC Intra board, recording to P2. AVC Intra is H.264 codec.

I don't think this is supported yet.. but the camera's ability to shoot DVCPROHD certainly is.

  • Unable to install AVC-Intra codec

I'm trying to play a file created on a Panasonic P2 camera using the new AVC-Intra codec. I downloaded Pro Apps Quicktime Codec from Apple: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1396. Specs say it requires OS X 10.5.6 or later and QT 7.6 or later.
I have a Mac running OSX 10.5.8 and QT 7.7 (1680.25). It is an old PowerPC G5, but everything about the system meets the published specs I've seen for running this codec. I haven't seen anywhere that an Intel Mac is required, which is the only "gotcha" I am able to imagine at this point.
ProAppsQTCodec will not install by clicking on the .pkg file, but in researching on the net, I saw that this was a common complaint and that using the program "Pacifist" to install was recommended. Installing the codecs via Pacifist did work, but the AVC-Intra .mov files in Quicktime Player play only audio with a black screen.
I went to the Genius Bar yesterday and the Tech tried several (to me) exotic methods of dealing with the problem, including a Network boot and manually re-installing the codecs. The result was the same, audio-only playback.
The files are good; they play back correctly on a more current Intel Mac system in both Final Cut Pro 7 and in Quicktime.
For what it's worth, I had originally intended to use these files on my 4-year old Intel Mac, but neither Final Cut Pro (version 6.0.6), the operating system (OSX 10.4.11) or Quicktime (7.6.4) which have served me well in every situation other than dealing with these P2 files, seem to be upgradeable at this point. :-(
I'm at a loss how to proceed on this and would appreciate any suggestions.
    Thanks,
    --Dave

The calibrated{Q} AVC-Intra Decode allowed me to view the files in Quicktime, but as far as I was able to determine, not to use them in Final Cut Pro 6. We spent a morning at the 'Genius Bar' puzzling through things, but although the machine, the OS and the QT version all met the published spec for this software, and it looks like it *might* have worked, it would have involved some work-arounds. I finally decided to try to update the Intel machine instead.I was not able to do it on my own, but they were able to beat it into submission at the bar. After several hours on each of two additional days at the Apple Store, they were able to update the OS on my Intel Mac enough to allow me to install Panasonic's AVC-Intra codec. Apple's own ProAppsQTCodecs is supposed to allow these P2 files to play on this machine, but it didn't.  I'm currently in the process of re-Log&Transfer-ing everything into FCP6 successfully.

  • Premier 4.1 Update and AVC-Intra codec

I am very interested in when Adobe is going to release support for Panasonic's professional codec, AVC-Intra 100.  We love Premier but use the AVC-Intra codec now almost exclusively (along with RED).  We understood from NAB that Premier was working natively with AVC-Intra codec and that it was likely going to be included in the big 4.1 update.
Any news Adobe gurus?  This would be a huge help to many studios.
    Cheers.

Let me start by saying that I don't have any more info then most on this site, but I disagree with you, Eddie.
If I had to bet, I'd say we see AVC-Intra in another update before the years out. I think we're a long way from CS5 (maybe NAB 2010 timeframe?), and for the presets to be there now tells me that they are working on it...they were showing it at NAB so they can't be that far off.
CS3 had quite a few updates, and CS4 has only had 2 so far. I think it's within the realm of possibility that we could see another update or two...hopefully one that fixes the program monitor freeze issue.
And as for Adobe announcing patches, they very rarely seem to do that - it seems like we hear about them no to long before they come out.
Again, you could be completely right. Who knows. But I tend to think it'll be soon...but not soon enough for many of us waiting for it.

  • Panasonic AVC Intra codec and FCP 2

Does anyone know if the latest version of FCP supports the new AVC Intra codec found on the higher-end Panasonic P2 HD cameras? We're a production house, and are considering investing in the Panasonic AJ-HPX3000 P2 HD camera, which is starting to ship this month. I know FCP Studio 2 supports the ProRes 422 codec; I'm wondering if we would have to convert the footage from the HPX3000 to ProRes 422 so it could be edited in FCP, and how long that process would take. Thanks!

If the camera does component or sdi out, you can use a Kona3 or io hd to convert to ProRes422 during real time playback.

  • My Internal Microphone Array (IDT High Definition Audio Codec) is not working

    Hi,
My Internal Microphone Array (IDT High Definition Audio Codec) is not working.
    I cannot do Skype calls.
I have already tried everything but still I'm not able to fix the problem.
Could you please advice me what to do?
Could you please provide me with a link with the drivers I may need to reinstall.
My computer is HP, Windos 8.1, 64-bit operating system, Intel i-7 processor.
I would really appreciate your quick answer to resolve this issue.
    Many thanks,
    Antonio

    Hey,
Try installing this driver: IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver
If that fails, try using the HP Recovery Manager to roll back to the factory installed driver.
Test after both. Let me know if either option worked.
I worked on behalf of HP.

  • Apple avc-intra codec?

Hey there, I just got some quicktime .movs that will not open on my mac. The codec is Apple AVC-Intra. Final Cut wont recognize it, nor does quicktime. I'm running FCP 6.06 and Quicktime 10 on Snow Leopard. I've found a codec but only for older versions of FCP. I believe the footage was shot on an HVX300.
Usually when I get this codec, i think its from P2 cards, which log n transfer works with. But these are in quicktime movie form, like they have been transcoded already.

Sorry, that codec is only available with FCP 7. You will have to get the client to injest the footage as ProRes, or get the originals to you so that you can do the same.
I find it odd for people to choose that codec anyway, as FCP doesn't have sequence settings for that one...not even in FCP 7.

  • Audio-Problem with Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 by using long Clips in AVC-Intra Codec (4Gb Border)

    Hello
We own a Panasonic camera (AJ-PX5000G) and we film in 1080p50 with the AVC-Intra100 Codec. When importing longer clips in Premiere Pro, the video is fully loaded, but the waveform of the sound ends at the Time Code 00:02:28:35.
Sometimes the sound could be played after this Timecode but otherwise there is no audio. Even if we use the same clip several times we see that it works sometimes and sometimes not. It looks random.
We also tried to import the Clips with Adobe Prelude directly from the P2-Card but there are the same problems.
The Clips in 1080p50 AVC-Intra100 have a bitrate of 227Mbps. After 2 Minutes and 28 Seconds 4Gb are written on the P2-Card and the Camera starts a new picture file and 4 sound files..
It looks like Adobe Premiere Pro has problems with the correct relation of the files that all get together to one clip.
Is there anybody who can confirm this problem? Can anybody help me with this Premiere Problem?

  • Does Premiere suport the Panasonic AVC-Intra codec?

I'm thinking about renting a HPX-2000 or the new Varicam 2700 because I want to play with 10bit 4:2:2 native files for an upcoming music video with lots of greenscreen and color correction.
Anyone have any experience with it? We're talking about going RED for it but I need other options for the bid.

Doesn't appear to right now. That was one of the bullet points in the literature pre-release, but it looks like it was canned for the time being. I would imagine we'll see it at some point in CS4--maybe the next point update?--but I wouldn't bet on that horse.
Panasonic does have a transcode module for FCP, that'll turn AVC-I into ProRes422. You could then install the ProRes422 decoder for Windows (I guess I'm assuming you're on Windows) and edit those in PPro--the decoder actually works pretty well, in my limited testing. Granted, it's not a native solution, but a solution, nonetheless. RED and the beta importer might be the better option.
EDIT: Another option would be to download and install the demo of Grass Valley Edius, which natively supports AVC-Intra. You could transcode to whatever you wanted, then--like Avid DNxHD, for example. Again, not native--but what can you do? :)

  • ZBFW Intra zone traffic not working

I am having an issue on one of our 2811 routers where I can't get traffic between interfaces within the same zone to flow. I know this should happen by default and that's why it is so confusing.
One of the interfaces is fastethernet0/0.1 which is internal LAN And the others are tunnel interfaces using IPSEC tunnel protection back to the main datacenter. By design one tunnel is preferred over the other by using OSPF costing. Due to this there doesn't seem to be any asymmetric routing.
I inter zone traffic working just fine by defining the policy and zone pair. It is just when I enable another zone on our internal LAN interfaces it stops passing traffic. Just to note I do have this working on our LAB 2811 router running the same IOS version.
Any recommendations would be helpful. I have a case open with TAC but they aren't figuring it out. So now I'm calling the experts.
    Thanks in advance. Elton
Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPhone App

Here is the sanitized configuration. The zone that I am trying to apply is "LAN".
I would like to apply it to all of the tunnel interfaces along with the fastethernet0/0.1 interface. This is working on another 2811 router.
    Thanks again for the assistance.

  • [Soulved][Media] Videos codecs are not working

    Hello there,
Recently re-installed Archlinux, and for some reason it will not play any video files with  Totem.
    What I have tried:
Followed this guide on arch wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Codecs#GStreamer
Installed the codec64 package from AUR
Installed MPlayer (Plays some videos but not all)
    Installed:
    gstreamer0.10-base-plugins
    gstreamer0.10-good-plugins
    gstreamer0.10-bad-plugins
    gstreamer0.10-ugly-plugins
    gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg
Installed also the 'above' packages from the guide
    Installed MPlayer codecs
    My goal:
To be able to play any video/codec with Totem Player.
Also Google dit had not the answer for me when googling the output/notifications beside the advice installing packages that I already have installed.
Notice: when installing some thing I have this driver related issue: ldconfig: libraries libvdpau.so.1 and libvdpau.so.1.0.0 in directory /usr/lib have same soname but different type.

    My distro was fully updated,
Its soulved (Thanks to Ioni & BinaryCode @ IRC)
The problem was affected by the NVIDIA Drivers from www.nvidia.com I un installed it and re installed trough the Repo.
    Fixes were:
    # sudo ./NVIDIA-*.run --uninstall
    -> Reboot
    # sudo pacman -S nvidia nvidia-utils
    $ startx
    # pacman -S mplayer smplayer
    instant fixed

  • Quicktime codec does not work, internet explorer just shuts down!

I have reinstalled quicktime many times and still I cannot view any videos or movie previews on internet explorer that use the quicktime plugin. When I open the page that is supposed to use the plupin, a window pops up saying I should install the ActivX controller. When I press ok another popup comes up saying that internet explorer needs to shut don because of an error. So it just shuts down. I have tried to go through the support pages and I cant see anything that would seem to help so there is anyone who knows how to fix this problem, I would appreciate it.
    Thanks.

It's been years since I use Internet Explorer (especially on a PC).
You must "enable" the ActiveX control in IE. (Probably a preference setting).
Have you tried using other Web browsers? Most are free.
