Avchd-1080/50i problem

Hello! I have a sony HDR-AX2000 (avchd) , I film in 1080/50i FX and I import from the cam into final cut pro x(I also use apple prores).
Yesterday I noticed that my project properties were incorrect: format-1080iHD  resolution-1920x1080 rate-25i.
I filmed in 1080/50i FX (24mbps)... So.. how can I modify my project? Do I must import the footage another time?(I have the footage on the cam)
PS: I can also rec. in 1080/50i FH (17 mbps) or 1080/50i HQ (9mbps) or 1080/50i LP (5 mbps) or 1080/25 p FX or 1080/25p FH... Is one of these formats best for fcpx?
Sorry for my English, I'm italian!!! Write me soon... it is very important!!!

50i is a stupid nomenclature. It means your video is 50 fields, 25 frames per second. FCP rightly uses the nomenclature 25i or 25p to indicate media that's 25fps either interlaced or progressive. Your media is 25i.

  • AVCHD 1080/50i export to mpeg 1080/50i - video stutters

when exporting the complete sequence to mpeg 1080/50i the resulting video stutters at 2 to 3 points. Thus I exported 3 parts of the sequence: no video stutters. Then I create a new sequence based on the resulting 3 videoclips, export the complete sequences and the exported video stutters again at some points.
    Can anybody help?

What version of Premiere Pro?  ==> PP CC
Have you installed the recent updates?  ==> yes
    What operating system? ==> Win 7 Professional SP1 64-Bit
What kind(s) of source footage?  ==> AVCHD 1080/50i
If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)? ==> not relevant
Has this ever worked before? ==> yes, has been working for smaller export files (less than 120 seconds)
What other software are you running? ==> nothing in parallel except security & firewall SW
Do you have any third-party effects or codecs installed? ==> No
Tell us about your computer hardware. ==> 6 core CPU 3,4 GHz, 64GB RAM - 6 GB RAM for other applications
Are you using Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration?  ==> yes - NVIDIA Quadro 2000
Does the problem only happen with your final output, with previews, or both? ==> only with the final output - the preview is fine - combining the shorter files (up to 120 sec) to one big sequence (4 min) --> the final export is stuttering at some times (even the export of the shorter files was fine)

  • 1080 50i disadvantages and editing problems?

I am about to buy cosumer camera Sony HDR CX350ve. It records in AVCHD 1080 50i footage. I am in big doubt because of this interlaced scaning and all of discussions about film-like or no film like look. What it is all about?
How Premiere CS4 deals with 50i during editing? When i will see artifacts? What is the best way to convert to progressive scanining?
What i will see on 1080p LCD? Is this interlaced scaning really worse than progressive?
I really like this camera but I don't want to regret buying it while editing footage. Please help.

Nothing worth mentioning. But let's be practical, many users only edit and export interlaced material, you have no way to export to 25P on BRD or DVD, PC players like VLC or MPC automatically correct interlaced material for display on a progressive monitor, just as flatscreen TV's do.
Jeff's tutorial is great in NTSC land, but not in PAL land to introduce that "Filmic / Stuttering" look. The software solution is the best approach in NTSC land to create the stutter, not here. IMO even a software solution is only a band-aid, and does interpolate between fields to create a frame which will always entail mathematical inaccuracies and errors. If the information is not there, you can't create the information in post. So it will by definition look softer than the original. Converting i material to P will work reasonably nice on static shots, but not on fast moving shots or fast pans.

  • How to Import AVCHD 1080/60p Files into Final Cut Pro 7?

How do I import AVCHD 1080 / 60p Files into Final Cut Pro 7? And if there is no direct way [I certainly haven't found one, but I'm no expert], what additional software would be used? I want to import the files from a Panasonic HDC-HS700 onto an Intel Mac laptop [Mac OSX 10.5.8]? Obviously I don't want to compress & compromise my footage.
I’m sure a simple, straightforward series of steps would help many people with this issue.
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the response!
I'm guessing you've found ClipWrap2 to be better than competing products [such as AVCHD Converter for Mac, Toast Titanium, or Voltaic].
On to the next steps. Using Clipwrap2, would I leave the checkbox "Convert Audio to LPCM" selected or deselected [and what the heck is LPCM?]. In the pulldown menu would I choose "Rewrap (Don't alter video samples)" or do I save a step by choosing "Apple ProRes 422"?
And finally, am I gaining anything by shooting 1080/60p on this Panasonic HD Camera other than a headache? [Some have suggested this is not a True 60p.]

  • Canon hfs20 1080 50i vs 25PF Final Cut Pro X Project settings

I apologise in advance if this is a newbie frustrating question....
But I have been searching and reading....and reading....and just cant seem to work it out.
I have a Canon hfs 20 legria (PAL version) camera.
I have purchased Final Cut Pro X.
The camera highest quality settings are 1080 50i or 1080 25pf.
Now, I think I understand the difference between interlaced and progressive (did some reading on the net).
What confuses me, is when I import the footage from the camera...into final cut pro X
I shot some footage at 1080 50i.   ( it is intended to be used as a music video, eventually)
When I imported the footage into FCPX i let it set the project properties, taking it from the footage shot.
Expecting the project would set itself, to 1080i 50i.
I check the project properties, and they say its 1920 X 1080i 25i ( now from my reading, i assumed if it was gonna set 25 anything, it would have been 25p)
I then copied the project, and manually set its settings, to 1920 X 1080p 25p
When I play either project, and look at them in the viewer, I cant see a difference. (Now that is probably attributed to the fact that I am a newbie and dont know what I am looking for in the first place)
Now, also during my searching, I came across a plethora of people, selling coversion software, for the canon hfs20 to get it into FCP. Now I cant tell if this was prior to FCPX , and now FCPX handles my cameras footage. To be honest, from what I had read, I kinda didnt expect my footage to import, and was pleasantly surprised when it did.
So, on to my questions, you say...8)
My cameras highest quality settings, are 1080 50i or 1080 25p
I wish to get the best footage I can, and have it set so it works well with FCP X.
I dont shoot, sports, hummingbirds etc...its mainly me, sitting playing the guitar, long walks on the beach, looking longingly into the distance...8)
Which settings would work best, and what should my project be set at , in FCPX to deal with those settings.
Final delivery, will be, internet, Beta tape for TV broadcast, possibly DVD but that is a distant 3rd.
Look, I know this is probably a frustrating question, but I would really love some help. Audio, i get, Video makes my head spin..8)
    thanks in advance
    Wiz

    Hi Tom
and thank you very much for your reply.
Okay, I will shoot in 25FP from now on...8).
I also made the change to the viewer settings, though I cant find anything in the online help manual about what it is or what it does...
    thanks mate
    cheers

  • DVCPRO HD 1080 50i in AE 8.

We've been shooting on the new Panasonic HVX500 in 1080 50i and I'm finding that when I bring the clips into AE they are incredibly muddy and grainy looking. When I drop the clips into the Make Composition window, the composition it creates uses the setting: HDV1080/DVCPRO HD 720 (1.33), 25 fps, FULL resolution. I've tried using different codecs native to AE, but still get the same result, which is a slightly washed out, grainy image. Whereas in FCP it looks fantastic and sharp. Greenscreen pulls also look terrible. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong or what settings to adjust to fix this? Thanks.

I would think that it's an issue with the color space conversion which may not be properly supported in MediaCore. File it as a bug at
    http://www.adobe.com/go/wish
You may also open the file as a legacy Quicktime movie (requires manual file type selection in the import dialog) to bypass all the optimized MediaCore stuff. Maybe this helps. Also check whether the clip got assigend some odd color profile.

  • How to export in 1080 50i in After Effects ?

    Hi
I import AVCHD 1920x1080 50i MTS files , after doing the effetcs , I want to export it in 50i but it only export at 25p instead of the 50i. So i lose some fluid motion.
    How can I proceed?
    Thanks

First, make sure all video footage is interpreted in the proper field order.  Go File>Interpret>Main, and make sure it's upper field first. Add your comp to the AE render Queue.  In the render settings, select upper field first, then render in the codec of your choice.
Are you using Final Cut Pro?  It has a difficult time distinguishing between interlaced and progressive scan sometimes.  Highlight the movie in the FCP Browser, and check the field order (incorrectly called Field Dominance in FCP) make sure it to is upper field first.  Then check your edit timeline for the same thing.

  • FCP settings for HDCAM 1080 @ 50i

    Hello people,
This is my 1st (of many I'm sure) posts..
I have a bunch of tapes shot on a HDCAM 750 and 1080/50i. I've poppped them into FCP at DVCPRO50 for the rough cut.
What settings do I use witin FCP to capture the HDCAM uncompressed.. I have a Kona LHe and 3Tb of storage on a fibre channel, 8 gig RAM so we're ready to cook.. just not sure which setting to go.. I'm confused with the 50i thing.. there's not an 'easy setup' for this.. Is there?
    Help me people!

    Welcome to the forums.
Yes, I have the Kona LH as well and I note that there isn't an Easy Setup for 1080i50. 1080i25, but not 50. Could it be as simple as duplicating a 1080i25 setup, and changing the frame rate from 25 to 50? I dunno...that is an AWEFULLY high rate. There isn't a 1080i60 either. The highest it goes is 29.97. And when I deliver 1080 masters, they are 23.98.
I only mention the duplicating option as I see that Decklink HD codecs offer that option.
What happens if you capture at uncompressed 10-bit HD 1080i25?

  • Editing Mixing 720 50p mts h264 and 1080 50i  xdcam mxf

Hi all, I'm going to shoot an event this weekend on XDCAM 1080 50i, I will probably need some B roll and and I was thinking to add my lil handycam and test it in 720 50p...
I plan to output mainly on a blu ray, but it will definitely end up on youtube and vimeo as well.
The handycam is able to 1080 50i as well so am I looking for trouble trying this?
    Thanks

Output to BDR is usually 1920 x 1080i/25. I would use both the lil camera and the XDCAM at 1080i/25 to avoid scaling and frame blending. Uprezzing is always a bad idea, it costs too much quality, downrezzing makes no sense if both cameras support 1080i/25 and shooting P makes no sense since BDR only supports i/25 and not p/25.

  • Importing Canon XA-25  AVCHD 1080 60p

Running CS6 on Mac 2.66 intel xeon with 16 gb memory, gobs of hard drive space and runing OS 10.7.5.
When inporting AVCHD 1080 60p from new Canon XA-25, video is choppy, and continues to be after placing on timeline and rendering.
The timeline was created by dragging clip onto new item.  1080 24 and 30 works fine and 1080i 60 works fine.
    Thoughts?"

Yes reset resolution and the type is MPEG. the camera allows one to chose AVCHD or MPEG...  If you want 720P or SD video you must use mpeg. I have sent copies of the clips to Adobe Support and they say they are analyzing.

  • 1080/50i or 720/50p

    Hi!
I just got a new camera from my new work, a Panasonic AG-AC160
I have to record a short commercial tomorrow, but I dont know if I should record in 1080/50i or 720/50p?
the commercial will be be a One shot movie, and I will have to use some few fast forward effects and slow motion effects, when i edit it.
The commercial will be uploadet on a website and a youtube channel.
but can anyone tell me pros and cons? (1080/50i vs. 720/50p)
    what will You record in?
    Thanks
    /Dennis

If the commercial will NOT be shown on TV, shoot 720p and you'll get superb slomo.
Interlaced is primarily for TV (not internet).

  • Panasonic AVCHD 1080/60p -- now we need 60p AVCHD support + 24p

According to Panasonic, they have the world first AVCHD 1080/60p HD camcorder, the HDC-TM700 featuring Panasonic advanced 3MOS technology.
With 96GB of internal memory and a SDXC slot (up to 64GB) the HDC-ATM700 yep it can record 1080/60p video in AVCHD but at 28Mbps.
It also include an 18x iA Zoom and a 12x optical Zoom, a 3” Wide Screen, an a 14.2Mpix Censor for still pictures. Like any descent camcorder the HDC-TM700 got a manual focus ring and Panasonic state of the ART O.IS.

Steve. Just bought this camcorder today. Would be very grateful for your guidance with these questions:
    1) For this camcorder, which one of your publications covers importing 1080p60 AND 1080i60 into iMovie, "Ins and Outs" or "Editing AVCHD" or both in order to achieve the highest quality iMovie output for Blu-Ray DVD burning? Asked another way, will this camcorder necessitate an update to those publications?
    2) Also, since the HDC-TM700 produces MP4 H.264 files (isn't that correct?), can't they be ingested directly by iMovie without using Quicktime to convert the files from AVCHD to MP4?
    Thank you -- Rick

  • Transcoding from 1080p 29.97 to 1080 50i?

My master project is mixed timeline of RED R3d's, Panni AVCHD and h264 and well as P2 material. I'm making my master as a TIFF, then need to send to Europe a 1080i 50i timeline to them with audio seperated....Can i get some of the tech savy to assist on this? :
    Here's what i've done:
    1. My sequence is set to: 1920x1080 @ 29.97  (see attached) with max bit depth & max render selected
    2. Export media, then set my MASTER as a TIFF sequence at 1080p 29.97 with max set in Export settings dialague box as well--in both places
    3. Send to QUEUE using AME for my Encode
    4. Once finished (24 hours later)....then import TIFF file to a new Sequence--i am just choosing a Generic Sequence--like DSLR or anything that is 1080p @ 29.97...then i Render the sequence...SO--now i have my MASTER....
How can i get to a 1080i 50i Prouct for my client in the UK?  Stumped here since i see plenty of 1080i 25 and 1080i 60.....
    Thanks,

Why don't you make your life a lot easier and simpler, since you are using stills (.TIFF) by using a 1080/25i sequence without the Maximum Bit Depth? Or are you using 10 bit TIFF's and a third party card?
Harm:  My original timeline is only moving images...R3s's, AVCHD and other material 90% 29.97 and a bit at 24fps....I should have preficed that i want my MASTER sequence as 29.97 since i have two markets that will get this...Europe and then USA. That said, if it is BETTER to make two Masters..great. But yes, i understand Tiff's are only images....and can then be put back any way....at least that is how i understand it....As for Maxium Bit Depth...Actually i have no idea what that is even used for---BUT, i do want highest quality possible for my master. So....why would i NOT use Max Bit Depth ? or Why turn off?
The whole Render to Tiff is new to me since i'm a throw over from FCP...and only rendered out prores for NGTV, Discovery etc....
Jim:  Ah...3x export---well, i had problems with some flickering because i used the effect Shadow/Highlight---which (see attached) caused flickering--took me 2-3 days to figure this out and little did i know it is a known issue with Adobe....but now that i'm rendering now for a 4th time as i write this....what i did was this...
when exporting out...i chose Tiff....you are right--i did not need to choose a frame-rate etc...but i did choose 1080p & 29.97, then send to Queue--then AME comes up and the actual coding shows as Tiff custom....so those settings i chose i'm sure do nothing then since each frame is merely a picture file.
So....now what i have done is render out the Tiffs....to a folder. I go back to PrPro...set a new sequence as 1080p & 29.97....import Tiffs as a sequence and then render again...now there is my sequence....
    Ok...so now that i have my Tiffs...i guess i can do anything i wish....But, how would i get to 1080i 50i ?
