AVCHD 5.1 audio Help

I'm trying to audio sweeten some AVCHD SD 4:3 shot with 5.1 sound. (Big mistake... should have been Stereo which works fine for audio sweetining). Everything goes well in soundbooth till I try and save the 5.1 audio file. I get a "unknown compression or Unsupported destination rate, please choose your destination format and location". I've tried everything, and nothing works that gets the file linked back up to the video clip in PPCS4.
Somehow I got it to work once on a fluke. Don't know what I did.
How Can I get it to save correctly and work correctly in PP?
Note... I don't need 5.1 Stereo would be just fine. If I can convert it to get it to work... Great. But I haven't figured that out yet.
(I have no problems with AVCHD SD 4:3 Stereo).

[...AVCHD and 5.1 camera audio are both very much consumer recording options,...Mostly you'd find people making home movies doing that, and most of that crowd probably work with consumer software (or no software, as many probably just shoot and watch).]
Jim... that has nothing to do with my post, and you missed the point. Stick to the subject, if you don't know, don't reply. Plus... it shows you can't back up what you say... so don't post what you can't back up.
We've been over this format war thing before.
Adobe spent big bucks to made CS4 handle AVCHD because of pros not consumers, and to try and take pro customers away from Vegas.
If you want to do a "Format War" thing... make your own post, but please get off your soapbox and don't clutter my post because your on an ego trip. You'll loose the war with this old salt.
I know a lot of pro's that know how to use AVCHD as a very effective tool and do as good as or better than the tools others use with tool that cost up to $5K. Like any tools... the good stuff comes from the real pros that know how to use the tool they have. In my case I've been in the buisness since 1980 when you had to be a teck to operate the camera... how about you?
I don't know how you have time for all the posts that you do.
Me... I'm too busy shooting the big jobs including broadcast, and smiling all the way to the bank (and yes, sometimes I do use other formats).

  • MPG video file importing as audio HELP!!!

MPG video file importing as audio HELP!!!
I am using Premiere pro CS5 trial version. The videos I have are in .mpg format and play fine in other programs. When I import them into Premiere they are importing as audio files.
I have a week to get this project done for uni and Im freaking out! It worked on the uni computer before christmas but isnt working here, its the same program and same operating system (windows 7).
    What am I doing wrong!!!?

You are doing nothing wrong. The trial version does not support MPEG. The full-paid version has no such limitations, and also comes with a 30-day, money-back guarantee, so if you do not like it, you can return it for a refund.
The limitations of the trial version are HERE.
Good luck, and welcome to the forum.

  • Need Audio Help - USB External Speakers

    This should be fun!
Need Audio Help!  My USB external speakers are recognized in Garage Band Preferences, but NOT in System Preferences. (I use the audio interface, US-144 Tascam)
    Which means:
I can only play my speakers using Garage band and not iTunes.
They were working in both iTunes and GB many times before.
I see that others have had problems losing their external speakers after updating their iMac.
I've called Apple for assistance (no help)
    Changed the order of connections
    I've shut down again, again...
    Help please

Open System Preferences/Sound and select the USB Speakers as your Output device
If that doesn't do as you expect, or you need to tweak them, run Utilities/Audio MIDI Setup and select them there then adjust the Format and Volume etc.

  • AVCHD/5.1 audio/PE7

    Hi all,
My parents just got a new camcorder and have recorded a load of footage that they (and I) would like to now be able to edit (details at foot of message, incl our not-so-fantastic system specs).
So, as you might expect, playback of AVCHD clips in PE7 is choppy to say the least. What I'm hoping you guys might be able to help me with is working out a workflow to get smooth playback while editing. Ideally, editing in HD realtime, but since space is not a premium on either system, down-rezzing for editing and then playing out final clip based on EDL+Original HD media.
I've been looking around, both here and Doom9, but keep getting horribly lost with all the different options for transcoding etc. Most understandable suggestion I've had so far is to use DGAVCIndex to demux the H.264 and AC3, then remux (??using Avisynth??) to a more standard container, e.g. MP4. Obviously this will work, but will it lose me quality in the process? And will I be able to retain the 6-track audio that's been recorded? Is there a more efficient way to run the whole process?
I'm new to PE7, but have done some work with Avid and FCPro before, should that information influence any suggestions. No longer have access to them unfortunately.
Thanks for any help/pointers you can give me, apologies if this is the wrong place to ask these questions!
    C
    Details/Specs are:
    Camera: Panasonic HDC-SD9
    Encoded: AVCHD
    Res: 1920x1080 PAL
    FPS: 25
    Audio: 6 stream AC3
    Machine specs ar:
    PC1
    Win XP 32-bit
    E5200
    4Gb RAM
    Internal Graphics (G35)
Samsung Spinpoint F1 1Tb SATA Hdd
while I'm (perhaps more ambitiously??) on:
    PC2
    Win XP 32-bit
    P8400
    2Gb RAM
    Internal Graphics (GMA4500 MHD)
    160Gb 5400rpm SATA Hdd
    500Gb 5400rpm eSATA Hdd

You can view the mutiple audio channels within the 5.1 surround sound but you can not adjust individual channels or mix them. You can mix the tracks but not to the channel level in the 5.1 surround sound. Maybe in a future release.
Although MP4 is offically supported be PE7 it will be just as processor intensive as the AVCHD. If you convert to HDV MPEG2 PE7 will handle this natively and you will get smooth playback. You could convert to an AVI, but the resulting file will be very large compared to MPEG2 and again will not be natively handled by PE7... although playback will be smoother than AVCHD, but no better than MPEG2. In PE7 you could only convert to uncompressed AVI (hige files), otherwise you would need to purchase a suitable AVI codec. Neo scene is one that I previously mentioned http://www.cineform.com/products/NeoScene.htm
You are not blind, PE7 does not have a batch convert function. You could look at AVCHD Upshift... http://www.newbluefx.com/avchd-upshift.html this can batch convert to MPEG2 and is reasinable priced... problem is there are few free conversion packages that support AVCHD.

  • Snow Leopard - No Output devices found - (Audio)  Help?

    Folks
I just installed Snow Leopard on my Mac Mini which I use as my home media centre. It upgraded fine except for the lack of audio devices it now reports. Ive been combing forum threads but to no avail.
    Appreciate any help or suggestions
    Model Name: Mac mini
    Model Identifier: Macmini1,1
    Processor Name: Intel Core Duo
    Processor Speed: 1.83 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 2 MB
    Memory: 2 GB
    Bus Speed: 667 MHz

    Update:
Syetm profiler told me I had no sound device. I did the PRAM thing and the plist thing. no help.
I then pulled opened the mac up and checked to make sure the daugther boards were properly seated ... I was desperate.
When I rebooted the machine, it came up WITH SOUND. I dont think it was me opening the box as it could have also been me booting the machine up with no toslink f/o cable plugged into the output jack.
When the mini restarted I got the bing over the system speaker, and once the machine had started the audio worked perfectly and I plugged the cable back in.
Since the sound has been working I have lost it a couple of time since, particularly after using DVD player. this has ofetn happened as I think it gets tripped up when swthching between 5.1 audio out and normal output. Again this sorts itself out if rebooting with the output cable disconnected.
I hate these type of issues as it seems so erratic. Let me know if starting with the cable out sorts things out.

  • Sony HDR-SR11 /AVCHD/NON-INTEL MAC/HELP

I have called both sony and apple tech support and both offered little help today.
I have a Sony HDR-SR11 that I shot some HD content with. The computer registers that the camera is there as an external HDD. Sony's FAQ suggested that I save the AVCHD file to my HDD and it should work....NOPE
I hooked it up to a PC and installed the software it comes with and I was able to view my files but not export them into a normal format.
I have 2 sets of files one set is .m2t and the other is .mts both say they are Unix Executable files..***!
I have a Power MAc G5 running Leopard and Final Cut Pro 6 I ran the software update and it says that as of today 100% up to date yet it says that FCP should be 6.0.2 mine says 6.0
Apple support said that it may not even work on a non-intel Mac.....HELP
anyone get this to work, supposedly Imovie work s with it but the files are grayed out in the menus for imovie so I dunno all I know is I need this footage off the camera ASAP.
    Thanks

I came here actually looking for a different solution and not the one I'm about to say... but I will tell you that the new iMovie will import the video straight off the camera (in either 960x540 or 1920x1080). It's not ideal, but it works.
In fact, I'm doing so right now, but I came here hoping there might be news of a new fix so that FCP will import it directly (it will not, log & capture will not do it, just so others are clear on this).
That said, the video off the camera looks very nice. I'm still happy with the camera, even if I do have to do one hoop jump before I can edit.

  • Satellite P75-A7100 No HDMI Audio Help Please!

Had to make device dual boot due to work circumstances with 7 32bit on one side and 8.1 64 bit on the other side.  Read the posts and lots of tinkering with but still no audio out on the HDMI on either sides.  Primarily looking to accomplish on the 8.1 side.  Went through thre reccomended driver install directly from the TOSHIBA page in the order reccomended:
    1. Chipset
    2. HD4600
    3. Conexant Audio Driver
No luck with the video being fine and no audio.  Not recognizing the audio connection in the drivers portion even under disconnected and disabled devices.
Also downloaded latest HD4600 driver from intel and tried to manually install AUDIO portion but getting the windows Error 10 and not allowing.  From what I read that is the fix but no luck there.
    Any suggestions or direction please?

    Satellite P75-A7100
    Downloads here.
I don't really know anything about this. I stopped by because you didn't mention looking for the HDMI audio here.
Control Panel > Sound > Playback tab
If you don't see it there, right-click in that panel and make sure all devices are showing. I once needed to change the default device there in order to enable the HDMI sound.
    Just a a thought. If that's not your trouble, I can't help.

  • In need of some audio help

Im fairly new to Premiere and haven't really encountered this problem before. I used a Nikon E4200 to create this video and when I play back the audio the sound cuts out where I've highlighted the track. If anybody could help me figure out what this means it would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Try and drag in just the audio track into the timeline from the source monitor. (Re- Open the clip in the source monitor then use the Speaker Icon)
Drag it on top of the existing ( overlay it) or onto a new track then trun off the old track  (or delete that audio - alt--click >del).

  • Streaming Audio Help Please!

I need to place streaming audio in a site that will run two six hour blocks of audio per day and then repeat them.  Each day will have different content.  Can anyone recommend a package to use for this?  I found live365.com but it's subscription based and I think it will end up being too expensive.  It has great bells and whistles including cover art, compatable with ipod and smartphones, but the cost... Also looked at a package by NCH, but it's missing a lot of the bells and whistles.
Any help would be very much appreciated!
    Sandy

If you want to use Playlists, and tie your catalog into e-commerce look at Wimpy MP3 Streaming.  Although this isn't REAL streaming, it's more on the order of progressive downloads.  It is highly customizable and can be configured a number of different ways depending on your needs.

  • Audio help for my 2001 Kia Sephia

    Hey all,
I'm a computer specialist, so when it comes to cars I'm an absolute novice. Long story short, my cars audio system sucks, and the guy who owned my car last did a great job of screwing the wireing up a lot, so I would not trust myself to install a new audio system. Yesterday I bought a Dual XHD7714 head unit, and now I'm looking at getting some new speakers. My car takes 5.25" front speakers and 5"x7" rear speakers. So right now here is what I'm looking at:
    Front: Alpine SPS-507
    Rear: Alpine SPS-500
Since I know pretty much zilch about car audio systems, I wanted to get your opinion before I bought any speakers. Basically my biggest worry is that the RMS power distribution won't work out correctly. But I don't know what I'm talking about anyways haha (^^,). Any advice as to some good quality speakers would be great, or any concerns about compatibility. Eventually I think I would like to put in an anmp and subwoofer, but I'm going to take this one step at a time.
    Thanks,
    -Sunflash M.
P.S. One more question, will Best Buy install the head unit and/or any speakers I purchase? And would it cost any extra money to get the head unit installed first, than add the speakers later on, as opposed to getting it all done at once?

    Hello SunflashMace,
About the best products to select, I would recommend consulting a mobile audio specialist at your local store.  They'll be able to provide you the best options to meet your needs and within your budget.
A schedule of installation fees can be found on GeekSquad.com, just click on the "Car & GPS" tab for additional information.  I hope this helps!

  • AUDIO help...IMAGES help!!!!

I have recently created a site using iWeb 1.1.2. All looks and works well in iWeb. I uploaded to the server, (my own domain, not .Mac) and the audio files I put up do not load, there is either a question mark or the quicktime Q. Nothing happens if you click around there. I saw the audio files being transferred (or rather saw the progress of them, as they are reasonably large mp3 files) so I imagine that they are on the server.
Also, some of the images have vanished from the site and have been replaced by question marks. Any ideas?
    Thanks a million.

Yes, I used Transmit and dragged both the site folder and the index.html file across. I have now discovered that the site works fine in iWeb but when I open the html from the sites folder the problems happen. Am I better of trying to use flash or something? Thanks for helping!
