AVCHD Audio Problem Importing to CS4

I have imported several AVCHD clips to CS4.  Occasionally one clip will play the video and audio OK for a part of the clip and then the audio blanks out.  In the Audio timeline I can see the audio waveform displayed, but it does not play.  I have tried cutting the clip and dragging it again to the timeline but it doesn't play. The audio in the clip played most of the way through the clip but blanked in the last15-20 seconds.  This has happened previously to other clips. I have played the clip in the source monitor and the same thing happens, always at the same point in the clip.  I deleted the clip from CS4 and re-imported it and all was well this time.
Any ideas about this?  As I said, I can see the waveform in the timeline, so I know it imported with the complete audio.  Why won't CS4 play it.  I am using the 64-bit Windows Vista Ultimate with 4gb of RAM and a quad 2.26gb processor.  The video files are all on a dedicated 360gb hard drive.
Roy

They were imported as .avi files via firewire through my VX2100 Sony Camcorder, edited in Premiere, exported out as an entire .avi sequence and authored in Encore. The audio is fine when the final DVD is played by my customers and played back on the timeline, but when I try to import the authored DVD back into Premiere to capture a few clips that are needed later on, that is when I get the massive distortion on the audio.
Everything is fine up until the point of recapturing the authored DVD back into Premiere from Encore.
Thanks

  • AVCHD Audio not importing correctly to Premiere

    Hey folks,
I have some interviews in AVCHD files that I am editing for work. I correctly preserved the AVCHD file structure, and when I playback the interview in Quicktime, there is no issue with the audio. However, when imported into Premiere Pro, the final ~6 min of the interview has bugged audio which just repeats one sample over and over again. Image attached
I have tried transcoding the clip to DNxHD but that did not solve the audio issue. I believe the problem lies with the Premiere software, or the file. But again, the audio playback in Quicktime is correct. Any help?

This could be a cache problem ... first, you might try deleting the cache files and see if that fixes it ...

  • Audio problems importing Supertintin files

We use Premiere Pro to edit small videos as part of our work, but none of us are professional video editors. We've been recording Skype interviews with Supertintin, which produces MP4 files.
When we brought these into PP, we were getting horrendous audio drift, so we got Aunsoft video converting software as recommended by Supertintin. Converting the MP4s into MOV files before importing seems to fix the audio drift problem, but it brings in the stereo audio tracks as 5.1  and puts them into audio track 4.
Is this a problem and are we doing something wrong? Thanks!

I came across a similar problem with a video with 2 video tracks... the following worked for the video tracks (but no guarantees it's the same for audio.)
    Try this:
Import the clip into FCPX -- for now, don't transcode anything (uncheck everything in the import dialog).
Once the clip is in FCPX, right click and select Open in Timeline.  See if both your audio tracks are in there. The overdub might be disabled (if it's in there.) You should be able to switch them by selecting the French track and typing V, and re-enable the English track by selecting it and typing V.
If you have Quicktime 7 Pro, you can verify if all your tracks are included with the video by opening the file, typing Command - J  to open the Properties dialog. You should see a table with columns Enabled, ID, Name etc. -- the Enabled column is a checkbox. The ID will usually be a sequential value for the track number and the Name column will be something like Video Track, Sound Track, Text Track, etc... so you can identify which track is what.
I'd hold off merging audio tracks until you figure out if you actually need to or not. At worst, you might have to export two different versions of the video.

  • Audio Problems Importing form Sonar 7

When I export something I've written from Sonar 7 In .aiff format, then import it into iTunes it plays fine until... I sync the song to my ipod Touch. It plays the song on my iPod way too loud, even in iTunes on my computer in my "iPod" playlist the song will play wrong, and in the "iTunes music" playlist play correctly. I can change the song in sonar 7 to sound better, export it again and import to iTunes again, and it play the changes I've made. However When I delete the old osng from the iPod and sync the new song, it will sound exactly the same. Very very frustrating. I export the songs from Sonar 7 in .aiff format, in 16 bit depth, 16 bitrate PC, and 44100 sample rate. can anyone tell why this is happening? Or possibly a better mp3 encoder than LAME that might correct this problem. Thank you soo much.

Thanks for the tip re: JPG v TIFF. And I've done a MP3 -> AIFF conversion now as well.
As it turned out, my problem was not a FCP preferences corruption, but was a matter of where the files came from...we were given a DVD with the still & audio files on them. When I copied those files from the DVD to our Server and then to the Raid hooked up to our Mac, the files would not import. If I went directly from the DVD to the raid, the files imported. Not sure how to make sense of that...but good to be aware of it, and hopefully if anyone else runs into this odd occurrence, this solves it for them...

  • Problems importing AVCHD clips from Panasonic GF1

I'm having problems importing clips from my new Panasonic Gf1. FCE (4.0.1) sees the device ok, and selecting and previewing the clips in the log and transfer window works fine, but once the clips are in FCE (converted to AIC) they play fast in the viewer or when placed in the sequence. Strange, because they play fine in the preview window before importing. Tried this in iMovie 08 and get the same effect.
I'm can convert them Toast to AIC and they work fine when imported to FCE but this is not my preferred workflow.

I tried using Toast Titanium 10 for conversion as suggested but there was a slight issue with synch of video and audio. So I downloaded and bought Voltaic HD as suggested elsewhere and the AVCHD files of the Panasonic GF-1 are now playing in Final Cut Express 4 without issues - I am editing with no problem. Given that I can use the Log&Transfer Window (Final Cut 4) for my Olympus EP1 and my Panasonic HD video cam, it's odd that the files of the Panasonic GF-1 don't work in Final Cut (yet), but at least I am back editing. Voltaic HD was $35, a doable expense.... it does work flawless (so far).

  • Help urgently needed: bizarre problem - no audio in imported clip!

    Hey there!
I have a bizarre - never the less urgent problem:
When I import some material (presentations) which I have recorded on Mini DV with my Canon MVX10i Camcorder the following problem occurs:
There is one particular presentation which somehow looses the audio during the import process!
That means the imported clip has no audio even though the audfio is on tape! Other clips before and after do not have this problem - the audio is available after the import.
A bizarre but serious problem for me. Any suggestions?
    Thanks a lot in advance
    Thorge

I had a similar problem. When I started the tape from the beginning no audio would import. To solve it I started the tape a few seconds in and It seemed to work.
    Hope this helps.

  • No audio when importing AVCHD into FCP X?  Simple solution.

After hours of trial and error and several phone calls to support, I figured out why my AVCHD footage (MTS files from a Canon vixia HF S100)  had no audio when importing into FCPX.  The solution was to simply uncheck the box - "Remove silent channels" - under Audio in the pop-up import window .  That did the trick.
I had tried  importing from a card reader, the camera and from an external hard drive and then tried 2 converter programs (MPEG streamclick and   Wondershare Video Conerter Ultimate.)
    Final Cut Pro X
    OS X 10.8.2

It's usually something simple that can catch the best of us.

  • Problem Importing Audio in Vista

When trying to import audio into Captivate 2.0 in Windows
Vista I get the following error
"Unable to decode and import the selected wav/mp3 file"
I check to see if the file might have been curupted, but
plays fine inside of my media player. The thing that gets me is
when I import the audio on my Windows 2K machine, I never get an
error and it the audio is imported with no problem.

Vista is not a supported operating system (OS), so to what
extent that might be the problem is a question-mark to me.
However, not all WAV files are supported in other (supported)
Windows OSs'. Assuming you are importing a WAV file, check to be
sure the WAV file is "PCM" formatted.
NOTE: PCM is one of many formats that fall under the general
"type" of audio file with the extension "WAV", and is the supported
    type for Captivate imports.
Let us know if that helps.

  • Audio problem when importing video files.

    Hello everyone,
I just started using FCP X a few days ago for a university project and I seem to encounter an audio problem when importing videos in .mp4, .mov format or via the import from camera option.
Indeed I need to import videos in .mp4 and .mov format into FCP X. The import in itself is normal I can see my videos into the events/clips library and if I play them from the library I can hear the sound quite perfectly.
However, when I want to edit my videos and put it in the timeline, there is no audio. As a result I started to think that my videos could be the problem so I tried the option "import from camera" option using the Isight camera of my macbook pro but the same things happened. I could hear the sound from the events/clips library but not from the timeline (I can't see any audiowaves in the timeline).
I found a solution using quicktime and extracting the audio of the video in .m4a then importing the videos files and the audi files corresponding but it's a long process and a waste of time  as FCP X should be able to import the audio of my video into the timeline directly. Especially if it can read it from events/clips library.
I hope I explained myself clearly and you could help me resolve my problem.
    Cheers
    Christophe
    PS: I'm using FCP X version 10.0

    Update to 10.0.5.
You have an incorrect setting when you edit. Try trashing your preferences. Post screen shots of your timeline and toolbar.

  • Problems importing Word Doc footnotes/endnotes into Dreamweaver CS4

I am having a problem importing a Word doc with footnotes/endnotes into Dreamweaver. When I do the import (or a copy and paste) I get the references without the actual number for the endnotes in superscript!
I currently have Dreamweaver CS4 (though have also experienced this issue with Dreamweaver 8)
I am currently using Word 2007 (but experienced this same problem with earlier versions of Word).
The document has a standard sort of endnote. In the middle of the text there is a number in superscript that refers to a note at the end. When I do an import I get the nice set of back and forth references with anchors and links but missing the number! Let me copy and paste an example:
Here is the text I have:
the largest multilateral recipient of UK aid,[i] with the UK
    [i] DFID (2010) DFID in 2009-10.
Now here is the HTML I get when I import:
the largest multilateral recipient of UK aid,<a href="#_edn1" name="_ednref1" title="" id="_ednref1"> </a> with the  UK
    And as an endnote:
    <div id="edn1">
        <p><a href="#_ednref1" name="_edn1" title="" id="_edn1"> </a> DFID (2010) <em>DFID in 2009-10</em>.</p>
      </div>
      <div id="edn2">
    What I really need is:
the largest multilateral recipient of UK aid,<a href="#_edn1" name="_ednref1" title="" id="_ednref1">1</a> with the  UK
    And as an endnote:
    <div id="edn1"><p><a href="#_ednref1" name="_edn1" title="" id="_edn1">1</a> DFID (2010) <em>DFID in 2009-10</em>.</p>
      </div>  <div id="edn2">
Does anyone know why these superscript numbers are missing? And how I can get Dreamweaver to put them in. I have long documents with 50 or more footnotes and would hate to have to redo this by hand!

The problem is that some of the material in the endnote/footnote is explanatory in nature rather than just a reference or citation. So I need a way to include explanatory text and don't want to put multiple sentences in ( ) in the middle of the text.
I would have to say clearly someone at Adobe did think conversion of endnotes/footnotes is a worthwhile endeavour, because Dreamweaver is designed to do it! You can see clearly from the code snippet that they programmed Dreamweaver to do an import with a very nice set of back and forth anchor references. Just somehow the actual reference numbers don't show up. In fact the HTML code for this provided by Dreamweaver is very clean and nice (contradicting bemdesign's assertion that you can not turn a word doc into a good HTML doc), with the exception of the missing number references!
Is there a setting somewhere that I might need to play with to get this to work better?? Or something I need to do with the Word doc text before I do an import? Any other work around.

  • Audio problems in video imported fro iphone4

I imported some videos made on iphone on a windows XP - without using itunes.
Now the videos present audio problems in avidemux.
If I convert them using Handbrake in several formats (e.g. avi), I can't manage to make them readable by Windows MovieMaker

Is there a way to extract the audio so I can clean it up using Sound Soap
iMovie 06 has some good filters for that.
I also use Final Cut Express, so maybe it would be better to just export it to FCE and then extract the video from there?
Final Cut Express (or iMovie 06) will give you better quality but it won't solve the buzzing noise. I also suspect a grounding problem.

  • Audio problems with import

I am using a jvc gz-mg 155u camera and have made 2 previous movies with no audio problems.
I have about 1 hour of video in many different clips that i am trying to import.
    1) Not all of the clips "thumbnail" when the import window opens. when i click on any clip in the import window, the audio plays.
    2) When i play the video on the camcorder, the audio plays
    3) When i import the video clips, some of the initial clips have audio associated with them, but the latter clips do not.
In summary, it has worked fine before. Only some of the clips work now when imported and audio works fine in playback on the vid cam.
I just returned from costa rica and i am very anxious to build my trip movie.
    any suggestions??

Thanks for the fast reply. Much appreciated - I have found other reference to this since reading your reply, and I can see this should fix my problem.

  • Question re: audio when importing AVCHD footage

    Hi everyone,
I use a Panasonic AF-100 which records using the AVCHD codec and uncompressed PCM audio.  When using the Log and Transfer function to transcode my footage, I see that in the Preferences menu of Log and Transfer, under "AVCHD", audio is stated to be "AC3" (and I do not believe this setting can be changed).  When I transcode the footage to ProRes, does the audio get transcoded to the AC3 format and thereby gets compressed in the process?
If anyone knows and would like to share, that would be much appreciated!
    A.

According to the camera's specs (http://pro-av.panasonic.net/en/af100/spec.html):
    [Audio recording playback]
Recording Format: PH mode: Dolby Digital/2ch, linear PCM digital/2ch switch     HA/HE mode: Dolby Digital/2ch
    Sampling Frequency: 48 kHz
    Encoding: 16 bit
Compressed Bit Rate: Dolby Digital: PH mode: 384 kbpsHA, HE mode: 256 kbps
So the camera records audio in Dolby Digital.  I'm not 100% certain on this, but aren't Dolby Digital and AC3 the same thing?  At any rate, from the camera's specs, I don't see where the audio is recorded "uncompressed."
I don't think the audio gets transcoded to AC3 - I think it IS originally AC3 and gets transcoded to AIF (AIFF or AIFC) during the Log & Transfer process.

  • Problem importing Premier Pro CS4 files into CS5

I have loaded Premier Pro CS5 onto a spanking new 64 bit machine.  When I import a CS4 project file into CS5, it asks me to locate the raw video files but nothing else.  All titles with graphics in them are without the graphics. The text is OK.  The graphics have disappeared.  How do I import a project so the titles are complete and don't have to be rebuilt?  .

Can you please give your system specs?
In particular, how many physical HDD you have as well as memory. OS, CPU etc.
Also - what are the scratch disc settings in Premiere?
Finally - what is the video type - SD? HD?
Please give as many details as possible as it sounds like your system is going into overdrive.
