AVCHD folder Issue

Hello -
I have AVCHD files from Sony NX5.
I am not able to import it into FCPX.
When I got Finder and goto AVCHD folder it actually shows AVCHD folder as Quicktime file.
I am on Mountain Lion.

the AVCHD is probably stored in a quicktime container. You either need the right quicktime codec or you need to transcode your media to codec that FCPx understands...

Working with raw .MTS files, no AVCHD folder structure

Hi, I've backed up raw .MTS files to Blu-ray data discs, just the files not the AVCHD folder structures.
I've read about this and everyone says it's not the right way of doing things, that it requires the entire ACVHD folder structure to function.
However when I load these files back onto my Mac from the discs they import just fine into FCPX 10.1.1 natively or optimized. I've had no issues with it at all so why are people so against that way of doing things?

Your camera(s) shot in a certain format. It could use any of a number of codecs – including variants of MPEG2, H.264, whatever. So you import that into FCP and edit – either natively or in optimized. Then you export. When you export, it recompresses – in this case to a fairly high bit rate version of H,264. Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced. If necessary grant your account and SYSTEM full control of this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to replace permissions on child objects which will repair permissions throughout the library. This is the XP dialog but Windows 7 shouldn't be too different.
If it won't let you change the permissions use the Owner tab to take ownneship from an account with administror privileges.

Sharer folder issue between two directly connected PC

Dear All, I have an issue regarding folder sharing. need your help to resolve this. the scenario is
two PC's are connected directly to share a folder, to open *.mdb file of a accounting software. this problem start when I moved windows XP PC's and installed windows 7 64 bit PC's. there is no compatibility issue as I run the same software on other
locations
PC A (192.168.1.200) has that *.mdb file and PC B (192.168.1.100) has to open this file through a network.
when I configured the folder share and network setting, all done well and PC B can connect with PC A and that software work well. After two days, when we start the software at PC B, its not responding when it try's to open that database file.
while analyzing, I found out that PC B can open the share folder of PC A but when open the desired database folder explore starts not responding and need to quit it by force. I also tried to share another folder of PC A but results are same.
PC A run the software with out any problem.
It seems like network issue, so I check the cable with cable tester, found it good, than I check the connectivity by ping command, it giving me <1ms time. but still change the connectors.
the hard part is that, this share folder issue arises 3-4 days a week and 2-3 days it works well, and this is happening from last 28 days. I mean, one day we start the the PC B and use the software via network, the next day we start the PC B and we don't
able to use the software,..strange.
I also change the cable connection from cross to straight as both new PC's have gigabit Ethernet but results are same.
I already contact with software company, as per them its network issue as we can use the software on local PC (PC A) and there is no error messages popup.
please help me out in this regard.

Hi,
Firstly, we need to identify is this file sharing or netowrking problem. If you can access to the shared folder and modify its files which locate at PC B through PC A, it indicates file sharing works with no problem.
After that, we need to check if its networking or software itself problem when reading the .mdb file.
Put the .mdb file at PC A, then using the software open it for test. If no problem, we need to use Process Monitor to capture the access trace of the software process, we should be able to find some clues.

Add Date and Time Stamp to video from AVCHD folder

New to this software and forum, so I apologize if this has been asked and answered. I am trying to insert the date and time metadata from the AVCHD folder using the .mts clips. Curently I am using VaTS to stamp the video then render the clips through Power Director. I would appreciate any help on this topic. Thank you for your time

BenB, thanks for responding to both of my posts. The footage was shot using a Sony HDR-XR500 AKA consumer video camera. Date and time is not burned into the image when captured digitally. The only way to do it would be to run the video through a video capture device that basically just records what the video outputs. This solution really ***** so i'm looking for somthing more effective.

Question mark Folder issue.

Hey i've been looking around about the question mark Folder issue i have tried every step from PRAM to Disk Utility(repairing/verifying) to Recovering over Internet the whole 9 yards. (BTW It didn't let me Internet Recover because i have a later version of OS X i gave up on that). After a while i gave up went to sleep later turned it on and it booted up normally. After a bit of use i noticed that my Mac HD OS X isn't selected on the Startup Disk to boot from. I select my Mac HD OS X, clicked restart, then folder with question mark pops up again. I let it rest like i did last time and it let me boot up normally.
I have no idea how to fix this. What i noticed was the spinning color wheel before all this happened was popping up more often. My laptop actually froze with the wheel and i did a hard shut down and that is when the folder with ? popped up. Now it pops up once or twice every hour or depending on how much CPU i use. I can't quite figure this out.
I don't want to think my drive has failed or is failing cause it is barely a year oldl treat it very well.
Any help would be appreciated!

Try deselecting and reselecting the startup volume and then restart.

Outlook pst folder issue

I am currently using Outlook 2007 and found problem with its email managment in folders. I have kept doing email cleansing regularly but the folder pst is still full and found any deleted and infected emails are still found in the pst folder.
Please advise.

As per the information and details provided by you, to solve the Outlook pst folder issue, please follow these steps: -
When you delete the unwanted items from each folder, it moves to the
Deleted items folder, which is in the same file. You must delete the items from the Deleted Items folder to permanently delete them so that Outlook can compact the file.
How to manually Start PST Compaction: -
On the
File menu, Click Data File Mangement.
Click to select your
Personal Folder, and then Click Settings.
On the
General tab. Click Compact Now.
Click
OK, and then Click Close.

Home Folder Issues after data drive move.....

Hello All,
I have a Mac OS X Server Leopard (latest version) that we have had running without too much troubles for some time now. When we ran out of space, I added a new large hard drive into our xServe and dittoed the user home folders to the new drive. I unshared the home folder file on the old drive, and then setup an identical share on the new drive. When users login on the mac, the system finds the home directory on the new drive fine, no issue.
The problem arrises when the user does a connect to server request. Their home folder comes up in the list and they mount the drive. However this share-point seams to be the folder still on the old drive. I have now deleted the folder containing the user home folders on the old drive, but it simply gets recreated when as user does a connect to server request. This folder is not longer shared and I can't understand why it still comes up with this old share point.
It is not a huge issue, but rather annoying.
Any ideas would be great.

Functionality for customized setups may differ slightly with a new os. Power cycling the device daily is always a good idea for maintenance.
I don't really consider having groups of icons on my home screen a customized setup. This is a native feature of the Android OS and something on the update caused this issue. I've been running 4.3 on two other devices (Nexus 7 and Sprint Galaxy S4) for months and I've had zero issues. If I didn't use folders I would need to fill up 3+ home screens just to have enough space for the apps I have on my main home screen. I have an identical setup on the Sprint Galaxy S4 (test phone for work) that is running 4.3 and I don't have this issue.
Second, are you officially saying that rebooting an Android device on a daily basis is a best practice? I typically reboot my phone every couple of weeks, but daily seems a bit excessive. Since the update I have to reboot at least once every 2-3 hours during the day to resolve the folder issue. It's the first thing I have to do in the morning to be able to access any apps that are within a folder.

AVCHD File and Folder Issues

I am trying to import AVCHD files that I recorded from a Panasonic Camera from a SanDisk SDHD 32 GB card into Final Cut Pro X. When I clicked on the card on my mac, the folders went: NO NAME/PRIVATE/AVHD/BDMV/STREAM. I accidently moved the STREAM folder from under the BDMV folder. I fixed this problem, so the structure would be correct again, but Final Cut still will not let me import the .mts files in STREAM. Any help?

Which version of FCP X? The latest version can open the mts files.

AVCHD video issues on CS6

Having just upgraded, my AVCHD files now dont play... or at least the video, audio plays fine but the video window remains either green or black, the files are all ok as i've checked in media player and QT.
If I open the same files in 5.5 then all is fine and the play ok. I;'m having to export the files from 5.5 as a match squence settings, then import in CS6 and then they work fine.
Any ideas very welcome.
All my video from my CANON 5d mk11 play perfectly....
Its just issues with the AVCHD files from my Sony MC2000.

So do you have BOTH the CS5.5 and CS6 versions installed on the same machine? This could be an issue, it is best to completely uninstall the old version, run the Adobe Cleaner utility to make sure there are no remnants left, then do a clean install of CS6 and any updates.

Also, with tapeless video formats, it is best practice to copy the entire folder structure from memory card to hard drive, then in Premiere, use "Media Browser" to do the Imports.

Folder issues when importing to library

I've got a large cd library and I am using iTunes to put them all on a dedicated harddrive(B:), the only problem I'm having is how iTunes is creating folders.
When I go into B: then the iTunes folder, and I want a specific artists folder and a specific album. The problem is, like this... I find the Prince folder, but there's several other folders with one song by Prince & "whoever" from the album I'm looking for instead of the entire album being in one Prince folder with all his albums.
I use the file system to drag and drop songs onto my phone card and I don't want to hunt for every little song!
Is there a way to fix this issue about the file system?

What you are seeing is due to the way iTUnes stores files. As you know artist>album>track is default. If tracks on album have different artists then album will be split up. Several options available.
1. Set all tracks on album to be part of compilation. Files will then be stored in compilation>album>track.
2. Edit artist info to show same artist for all tracks in album. This will store files as artist>album>track like normal.
3. Change album artist info to be main artist for album. This will override sorting to store album under album artist name instead of split up by artist info.

WEIRD! AVCHD folder structure saved on HD appears different in Mountain Lion?

I saved all my old SD card contents fully onto an external hard drive.
Since saving I have upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion.
Today I opened the saved SD cards to find that the folder structure had altered dramatically.
It appears to be simplified and the "Private" folder is no longer a folder but a QT type file which when double-clicked opens in QT Player.
All the clips appear to be there and capable of being used but everything is drastically different.
Any idea what has happened . . . . is it ML related?

There seems to be no way of importing AVCHD video without copying it.
When it's in the camera you need to copy it but if it's stored on a HD there is no need but you are given no choice.

TS1440 I'm trying to fix the "Blinking Grey Folder" issue, but for some reason my MBP won't accept my internet password, how do I advance past this?

I've got an early 2011 Macbook Pro running the latest OS, but this afternoon it decided to not start properly, and I was faced with the blinking folder of death. Having googled around the subject a bit, it seems the thing to do is boot and hold the option key, then do a few things to sort it if its sortable. However, its asking for my network, and the password. For some reason, it is completely rejecting the password, even though I know thats the correct one (I'm using it now for instance!).
So how do I move this forward? I'd rather not have to buy a new MBP, but its looking like it might be necessary at this stage, as I need a laptop for my work! I've tried to book into a London apple store, but there are no free slots at any of them.

After 10.5.8 update no shut down, Finder, Dock, program folder issues

Hi all,
I've seen and read similar topics to these issues but as the given tips couldn't help me I open another topic.
Yesterday I installed the 10.5.8 update. Since then I cannot access the Dock, it even doesn't show up, the Finder does not let me access the program folder and my Mac doesn't shut down at all, only by using Contol, Command and Power (sorry, does not know the proper terms in English).
I tried to repair the disk by using Disk Utility from the initial DVD and it did repair a lot of stuff. In the end, it shows "Keys out of order" in red and that my disk could be repaired but one volume couldn't. If I try to repair permissions it doesn't even start saying something of "... inaccessible ...".
After trying this no change in my issues.
What could I do more?

LR cc does not save files in Original Folder - various folder issues

the LR cc application is in my Windows 7 C: drive, a 256 MB Solid State Drive. I keep all my images on a 1T Hard drive, "My Pictures." I convert raw CR2 files to DNG files using the Adobe DNG converter, and store them in a labeled folder in My Pictures (on the 1T hard drive). I then make jpegs from the DNG image files, often with lots of "development" (adjustments.) When I save them, I export them to the "Same Folder As Original." BUT, they are always exported to an entirely new folder located on my C: Drive, my SSD. This error started happening recently; I have used lightroom for several years and never had this issue. In addition, it seems to make a copy of my DNG files in the same folder, and those files seem to be different from my originals. (I think lightroom keeps track of the adjustments somehow, without using sidecar files. I don't know how that works. I got an error message when I tried to use one of the DNG files after I deleted them from the C: drive.
What's going on? I tried looking at Preferences but did not find a relevant topic.

I have to say that menu bar has been the same for many, if not all, versions of LR. It also give you a description of what each option does, IIRC.
You have all the options you need, "Copy as DNG" (What that does is take whatever file extension you are using, even a DNG file, and converts it to a DNG, Yes even if the original is a DNG), "Copy" (I hope you know what that does. COPIES the files from the original location to another location of your choosing), "Move" (MOVES the file/files from the original location and places it/them in a folder of your choosing) all the above also put the images in the LR database and last but not least Add (All that does is add the images to your Lightroom database).
I always use the ADD option as I copy my images off the memory card to a folder or folders of my choosing first.
