AVCHD m2ts - no video, only audio imported

Hi, I'm using Premiere Pro CS5.
I have a m2ts AVCHD file. Using mediainfo it says that the format is BDAV (though windows propeties says AVCHD...same thing?) and VC-1 (which I believe is the codec). I didn't film it btw so I don't know anything else about it.
When I import it into my premiere project it shows up as an audio file. The file in the imported list doesn't even have that video icon next to it but rather it has that speaker audio icon when clearly this is a video file. It's like the video is being recognised as an audio file. When I drag it onto the timeline there is only audio added!
I've already tried many things using tsmuxer and mkvtoolnix but no matter what I still don't get any video. The last thing I want to do is to have to re-encode the video cause I don't want to lose any quality at all and it's all too time consuming. Could it be some kind of codec problem?

I had the same problem with a new HD camera just purchased, PP CS5 saw my footage as an AVI and would only play the audio portion of the AVI file. The solution for me was to use the provided software which converted the file into a useable AVCHD m2ts file which PP CS5 then recogised and l was then able to edit.

C100 MP4, AVCHD playback no video, only audio

Hello, I recently bought the Canon C100 mk II, and I took some test footage, but the problem is after importing, there is no video in the playback.
There are all the thumbnails for preview in the event list, but when you hit play all you hear is the audio.
I tried both MP4 and AVCHD, and both the same result. I also tried to convert the files into ProRes 422 using Compressor, but (very strangely) upon import, the files revert back to the original and has the same issue. Even when I rename the ProRes file, it reverts back to the original.
Can anyone help, or has anyone any suggestions?

QuickTime stand alone not playing video, only audio

Am running QuickTime stand alone on my PC with Windows XP Home 2002. For some reason the .mov files that were created with my digital camera will not play video (only audio) on this computer. The files seem to play fine on other computers. Have also found out that I can play downloand or streamed videos (only audio).
Can't figure out why video won't play. Other video formats (.avi for example) play fine through Windows Player.
Any insight? . . . anyone?

Atv2,atv3 iphone5 ipad2 airport extreme base station. NO video only audio.

I have an atv2 and atv3 on an AirPort Extreme base wifi network. All devices with latest software. I can play audio, show pictures, and play videos from iTunes (preview videos) on all devices. When I buy a video from iTunes, play the video and press the airplay button i only have audio and a small badge of the video in the bottom left corner but no video. Also no YouTube videos only audio. I have reset all devices and same results. Been battling this a while and would appreciate any help.

No video only audio in front row from my .mov files from my Iphone 3gs

I am having trouble with front row playing my video's shot with my Iphone 3gs.
At first, I only had audio and no video, but since the software update it was working fine.
But I just Imported some new vids from my Iphone to my mini.
The old vids have video and audio, but the newly imported vids I only hear audio and see no video....
Anyone knows how to fix this??

No Video, only Audio when building a DVD in Encore CS6

Hi everyone!
First post here, and I apologize if this has been somewhat covered in other posts, I couldn't seem to find any similar issues in this matter, and I pray someone here can help.
I'm new to DVD authoring, and just started using Adobe Encore CS6 over the summer. I shot a dance recital, and after following some tutorials, made an awesome DVD that was very well received.
However, my last two DVDs have not come out working properly. I imported .m2v files from HC Encoder (DVD Compliant, max 7500kbps for safety) into Adobe Encore CS6, where the .m2v files say "Don't Transcode." They play just fine in the timelines in Encore.
When I build the DVD to either a folder, image, or disc, only audio plays for the video portions of the DVD. The only way to get the video to play is if I run the DVD through VLC. I tested in Windows Media Center (on Windows 8) as well as my PlayStaton 4, and the black picture with audio persists for each video element of the DVD.
Between making the DVD of the dance recital and the DVD today, I have gone through at least two complete system restores, if this is something that could possibly have made things go awry. If it helps to know, I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro.

I imported an *.m2v file along with a *.wav file, both the exact same durations and lined up correctly in the timeline. In the project panel, for the *.m2v it says "Don't Transcode" for Status and "Don't Transcode" for Settings; for the *.wav it says, "Untranscoded" for Status and "Automatic" for settings.
That's all that Encore's telling me about the files.
Side note, interestingly enough, I went back and re-exported the DVD of the Dance Recital that I had mentioned earlier, and it plays just fine. (I'm trying to compare the two projects as best I can) It seems as if the *.m2v file that I made in HCEncoder for the recital plays just fine in Windows Media Player, however my most recent ones do not. But they still play in Encore. Needless to say, I'm baffled.

I'm having similar issues, if I try and play video via the iPad 2 Videos app I only get sound on the ATV2, video is played on the iPad 2. Maybe I'm missing something because I can get the same videos playing on the apple tv via the atv2 menus and if I use the apple remote app no problems as well. Maybe I'm missing something here?
Video/Audio works using safari YouTube and iPad YouTube also apple remote app. As far as I can make out it seems an issues using the iPod App which links into the iPad Videos App, same issue if I use the iPad Videos App.
BTW if I try and play shared video using the iPod app on my iPhone same problem. I'm wondering if there is an issue with iOS 4.3.2 update. Apple TV did not get the update ?

Help: Having issues exporting (no video, only audio)

I created 3 movies that I now need to export. I initially exported them for import to iDVD so I could create a DVD for the collection. But, in iDVD, the movies are messed up. The video won't play and you can't see what it is. I can hear the background music I included in the movies, but that's it.
Thinking it might simply be an iDVD issue, I tried exporting to QuickTime, but the same problem occurs. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do? Or, maybe some idea of what I may be doing wrong would be helpful.

If by "the video won't play" you mean that is displays a "black" screen but audio plays normally, the usual answer is the codec used for you source file. Apple Animation and Video files will import and edit normally in iMovie '08. However, they currently export with this "black" screen as if a slug were placed on top of your video content during export which also, by the way, seems to drag you video data rate down to little more than that needed for your audio content. As to which is the cause and which is the end effect, no one seems to know. However, this problem has existed since release day one. Since many programs (like LiveType and Snapz Pro X) use the Animation codec as an "intermediate" rendering compression format, this topic is continuously coming up in the forum. The normal solution is to go back and convert your source file to another compatible format, re-edit your project, and remember not to use these codecs in the future (or until Apple fixes the problem or elects to error trap the codec to avoid wasting user time).

The current iOS is obviously seeing your Car as a TV. I would contact the manufacturer and see if your vehicle needs any update, or if they recommend changing any certain settings to be compatible with your vehicle so the iPhone is not seeing it as a TV. Each vehicle is 100% different so the manufacturer would be the best one to solve this issue for you. Alternately, if you have an aux input, buy a 3.5mm audio cable and plug your iPhone to the car using the headphones jack. This will obviously limit the connection to only audio.

Video doesn't play in Youtube. Only Audio. It was working fine only until a week ago. Tried uninstalling and re-installing Firefox. Tried several other sites like dailymotion and vimeo. However videos in screens.yahoo.com is payed perfectly.

Compressor 4 not compressing the video, only audio.

Hi,
I send my video to Compressor 4 from Final Cut Pro X for encoding into MPEG-2 for a DVD
Compressor encodes the audio but fails on the video.
Before sending my video to compressor I deleted all render files and re-rendered the video, doing that made no difference.
Have tried a number of time but can not get it to encode both video and audio.
Has any one got any idea's what the problem is?

My guess is you're not doing anything wrong - at least not in Compressor.
I'm not a big fan of the Send-to-Compressor workflow – whether it's from X or the legacy version. And I imagine that were you to export a Quick Time movie, using Export Media, and brought that file into Compressor, you'd get the two elementary streams that DVDSP wants. Try that with a short test project.
But that doesn't explain why you're getting these fails from X and you're able to get successful jobs completed from 7. My experience with the new programs hasn't all been clear sailing either. When I've run into oddball behavior, excessive beachballs, etc., with one exception one of three things has worked to restore order: trash preferences (I use Digital Rebellion's tool), repair permissions, delete render files. Once, none of that worked and I had to reinstall.

No video (only audio) in wmv file played in Quicktime

This has come up a couple of times recently with wmv files played in QT through Flip4Mac.
A window [sic] comes up saying "Additional software is required for Quicktime to playback this media. It may be available from the Quicktime Components page." When I click to go to the components page there's a whole raft of different components by different companies but none says anything about the problem I have. Even getting any of those components, let alone installing them, is too confusing to go there. There are very few of these kinds of unplayable (video only) wmv files, so I'm wondering if I should just give up trying to find a solution or if there is something out there that I should try.

No Video, Only Audio on H.264 movies

I just received some H.264 movies from a video editor. When I try to play them I get a pop up window stating that "Additional software is required for Quicktime to playback this media. etc..." but I have no idea what that additional software is. I viewed an old discussion and saw were someone else had this same problem and they downloaded Perian and fixed the problem but this did not work for me. All I am getting is audio and blank white screen.

Hello, and welcome to the forums!
That error message generally means that Quicktime doesn't have the correct codec to play back the video or audio. an H.264 movie usually has AAC audio, but not always, as you can add other codecs.
Try something - open the video in Quicktime, then press Command+i (Apple+i) to do a "Get info" on the video. It will display the codecs used in the video. Look at the audio codec - an unsupported codec may be the problem. If so, see if you can download a codec for it. The fact that Perian didn't work is odd...
Also, if you just want to play it back, try the VLC player - http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ - it works with a lot of movies that Quicktime won't work with. If this doesn't work, I'm not sure what to suggest. You may be able to convert the movie to another format using a program like iSquint/VisualHub, or FFmpegX.
