AVCHD on PowerPC even though it's Intel
I am getting a warning with AVCHD not being compatible with PowerPC even though I am on a Mac Pro Intel Dual Quad-core. I set up another user on the tower and it works without a problem on the other user. My main account, however, gets the same AVCHD on PowerPC warning every time I try to log and transfer from my Canon HF-10 (same as HF-100). I can do it on my MacBook Pro laptop, and the second user on my Mac Pro tower, but not my main user? I have tried FCP Rescue 6 (as recommended by another user) and I have followed the steps in this forum post http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=7194922#7194922 but for the life of me I cant make it work.
Anyone have any suggestions? I am desperate and need to solve this quickly!

After upgrading to Lion, Image Capture does not work, even though it is intel software. Gives error 9931. What gives?
Ouch, if it is indeed damaged, then sadly you need to restore the whole danged huge OS!
Didn't used to be this way before Lion/10.7.
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS. -
On my ibook G4v 10.4.7, I have itunes v 4.7.1(30) and even though I have downloaded the newest itunes version I still cannot get my itunes to recognize the shuffle to sync my music onto it. What do I need to do to get music onto the new shuffle?
Hi, you need to upgrade to 10.5.x...
Mac system requirements
Mac computer with USB 2.0 port
Mac OS X v10.5.8 or later
iTunes 10 or later4
Internet access is required; broadband recommended; fees may apply
http://www.apple.com/ipodshuffle/specs.html
Leopard requirements/10.5.x...
* Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (867MHz or faster) processor
minimum system requirements
* 512MB of memory (I say 2GB at least)
* DVD drive for installation
* 9GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
You have to call Apple & likely ask for a Product Specialist to get it, if they still have it! Helps to tell them you have an iPad/iPhone & you can't run 10.6.
There are workarounds if the 867MHz is the only hangup...

I just updated my RAM (replaced the two 2 gig cards with two Corsair 8 gig cards) and I keep getting a crash report. I have a 21.5 Inch mid 2010 imac. I also am experiencing slow load times with Photoshop and when I try to open Final Cut it says that quartz extreme is not compatible and that I have no VRAM even though I do.
Here is the crash report:

The recommendation on here, mostly, is to only buy RAM from macsales.com or crucial.com as they guarantee their modules will work and offer a no quibble lifetime guarantee.
I'd put the original RAM back in, return the Corsair chips for a refund and re-order from one of those two companies.

I downloaded digital hd copies of movies onto my parents' computer and they have a new computer now, and the movies aren't there, even though they have the same apple ID. What do I do to get them to download?
New computer: Dell, Windows 8.1
Processor: Intel Core i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz
64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor
16 GB RAM
itunes up-to-date
Old computer: Dell, Microsoft Windows XP
Processor: Intel Pentium D CPU @ 2.80GHz
1 GB RAM
itunes not up-to-date (updating it isn't really an option)
I have these movies downloaded on the old computer from digital hd redeemed codes: Fantastic Mr. Fox, Super 98, Thor, Inception, The Hunger Games, and Star Trek Into Darkness. I bought Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl on itunes with money, and that one isn't showing up either. When I search it on itunes to see if I can just re-download it, that isn't an option. I would have to buy it again. Home Sharing isn't what I want because the old computer will not be here forever and it is not connected to wifi.
It's kind of a lot of movies, and I want them on the new computer.im so happy I have a iTunes Card Code absolutely free! I got it at http://linkbitty.com/freeitunes2014

I downloaded and installed Firefox 4 RC using tar.bz2 so that I could still use Firefox 3.6.15 as per normal, having to start Firefox 4 using the terminal which worked great (except for many videos on different websites). When Firefox 4 was released, I suppose I was in a hurry to get it to work normal from my menu, but it kept saying that 3.6.15 was the latest version (I'll be quite embarrassed if it wasn't available for Linux users - I do love Firefox!). I did something silly, like purge Firefox from my operating system (Kubuntu 10.10) and when I reinstalled it was still 3.6.15 (it wasn't really downloading, but unpacking). Am I in too much of a hurry or is there a fix-it? I can use Firefox 4, but only through the terminal and I suspect it is slower than it should be. I would like only one version now.
First, that cannot be an iBook G4 as that machine cannot run Snow Leopard let alone Mountain Lion. To run Snow Leopard it has to be an Intel processor, not a G4. What does it show as the Model Identifier in About This Mac, More Info, System Report, Hardware, Model Identifier?
Second, if you have erased the hard drive there should not be remnants of any prior content. Even though Disk Warrior is saying nothing is wrong with the hard drive, it sounds as though there are problems. You may want to consider simply replacing the hard drive so there are no questions about faults. A good source is OWC, http://www.macsales.com where they also have on-line videos showing how to do the replacement.
Third, you could also try again to restart using the Snow Leopard DVD/CD and use Disk Utility on that install disk to erase again, and do it a couple times, then try to install. If it continues to refuse, then it sounds as though there is a fault with the hard drive. -
Thunderbird won't print, even though Firefox will. Print preview works fine. Job queued, but seems to think printer is offline? Port is not listed when look at print job. (USB connection) Wasn't getting an error message... job just never printed or leaves the queue. Restarting job does not help.

With only one cartridge light blinking I would suspect the cartridge, they do rarely fail (much more often for reman cartridges, see here). Clean the cartridge contascts as shown here. If that fails and the cartridge is an original HP then check the warranty date as shown here. If the cartridge is in warranty return it to your dealer for a warranty replacement.
The printer will automatically switch to backup mode if the black (or color in some printers) cartridge is removed. I do not know if this works with the PSC 1510, some all-in-on devices insist on having both cartridges present.

I am trying to upload files to an Apple hosted feed on KSU iTunes U (unpublished site). The file size in the Feed Editor shows as 2 GB even though the files are 50MB. I am using Safari on Intel Mac 10.5.8. at Kennesaw State University. Any help would be appreciated.
This is the second day. I tried using a new Apple feed to test. Still not working. I uploaded a 50MB mp3 file. The first time the upload failed. The second time the file showed that it was uploading a 2 GB file. It has been about 20 minutes now and shows "3.5GB of 2.0GB 178% Completed". Now it has started uploading all over again - it is now showing 399.4MB or 2.0 GB - 19% Completed. I dont know if this will keep looping - but I am going to Cancel.
Please let me know what other information do you need from me. Definitely need some help with this! -

My imac switches itself on even though it has been shut down properly (i:e not sleeping)!
Any reasons why or ideas please?

iMac 2 Ghz Intel Core Duo Mac OS X (10.4.6) 20" screenHi Spenny,
Do you have any Apps that are not working properly or Apps that appear open from the Dock and shows the menu bar but no App window?
Have you looked here (System Profiler): Go to Apple Menu > About this Mac > More Info > Contents > Hardware > Diagnostics... you can see what kind of Power up info is contained...
If it were me, I would go ahead and try resetting the SMC and pay careful attention to the instructions. If this does not help, I believe your machine is not actually turning off. So, if were me, I would force a shut down by holding the POWER BUTTON till machine turns off, this may take a few seconds but it will shut down and then go through resetting the SMC again....
Let us know, good luck, Rick

I'm doing everything the same and have made many successful slideshow recordings using Keynote, but since updating the Yosemite and then updating Keynote the audio just stops recording after about 30 seconds.
The slides keep on changing and recording the video, but after 30 seconds the audio stops recording even though it seems to be registering the sound and the mic is not muted in Keynote.
Is there some change or new setting I am not aware of that needs to be altered?
Any advice would be helpful as I need to record a lot of presentations.
OS X Yosemite version 10.10
Keynote version 6.5
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013)
2.6 GHz Intel Core i7
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Intel Iris Pro 1536 MBI can't imagine this will work as the the application is tied into a specific computer and user ID to prevent unauthorised use of single use applications. Copying over has not worked with previous versions of Keynote.
It worked for me. I guess it could be because we bought our Macs together and have home sharing or something. Either way, I'm running Yosemite but with Keynote 6.2.2. and not updating again until Apple do something about this bug. -
I downloaded Firefox 4 & it overwrote 3.6. F is saying that it will not open with my configuration even though I'm running 10.5.8. How do I find & download 3.6? I'm totally screwed, since I can't seem to import my bookmarks, setting, etc, into Safari or any other browser.
Unfortunately, Firefox 4 supports only Mac OS X 10.5 and above on Intel hardware. The system that you are currently using is no longer supported by Firefox (details can be found [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/system-requirements.html here)].
<BR><BR>You can revert back to previous version of Firefox by following these steps:
# Open the Applications folder.
# Drag the Firefox application to the Trash.
# Download and install Firefox 3.6 from [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html here]. -
When using my new nano 7 with nike+, my music stops after the 30 minute voice alert even though I have set my run/workout for over 30 minutes. It also cancels/deletes that run/workout. This has happened several times. How can I keep this from happening?
If possible I would arrange for a good service center to go over it. Hopefully they have a variety of parts in stock. They can test and verify all is working. The previous attempts are based on guesses by the person at the other end of the phone without diagnostic tests to assess the culprit. It is extremely unlikely for a webcam to fail & for it & a Mic to fail together should be an indicator to a good technician it is something else. EG Motherboard
Take it to a servicing dealer and wait for it.

When offered the free upgrade in App Store, I am unable to upgrade to Mavericks even though I seem to have all the requirements listed by Apple.
Model: MacBookPro 2,2, Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo, Speed: 2,33 GHz, Processors: 1, Cores: 2, L2 Cache: 4 MB, Memory: 4GB
Bus Speed: 667MHz, Boot Rom Version: MBP22 00A5.B07, SMC Version: 1.12f5.10.7.5 is the max for your model. Your mac is one model too old to run anything higher.

I am getting a message that my version of Firefox 3.5.6 is no longer secure against attacks, yet when I try to update to Firefox 4, I'm told that my Mac system isn't compatible even though I have system 10.5.8 and the requirement is supposed to be 10.5.
Firefox 3.6.17 should work on a PowerPC Mac and OS X 10.5<br />
Firefox 4 won't work on your computer.

For an unofficial Firefox 4 compatible version that runs on Mac OS X 10.4.11 or Mac OS X 10.5.8 (PowerPC) you can look at:

Firefox 3.6.x (Mac OS X 10.4 and later) can be found here:

Can't stop the email notifications even though I turned them off
I can't seem to stop the email notifications -- after receiving 240 emails this morning -- even though I have clicked on the notifications to STOP. How do I get them to stop? Apparently I'm getting all email notifications for ANYTHING iMac (Intel).

Hi Guys, Simple question really. Is there a way of switching back to advanced mode after selecting simple mode on install? I can't seem to find the option for determining output size, or do you determine that under export options? Thanks, Tony G.
