AVCHD Timeline Error with Preimere Pro CS4

I just bought an AVCHD camera that compresses to a m2ts file extension. Everytime I try and edit the AVCHD footage, this happens.
Priemere Error:
Everything works except for the playback. When I playback the footage in the timeline it has artifacts in the image, color streaks, and blockiness. Only when I playback, there is nothing wrong with the footage! I've tested it elsewhere. It only does it during playback on the time line, no other time
All other files work fine, also I still have CS3 installed on my computer, I don't know if that could cause this problem. I am on an xp computer.

With the limited details provided it is hard to tell, but something tells me it might be be a limitation of your hardware.

  • AVCHD with PR PRO CS4

    Hey guys
Wanted to ask about possibly upgrading in the near future to the SONY HDR AX2000 (currently use HDV- which has it's own issues with pr pro cs4- choppy playback not really being one of them though)
Anybody have this camera or similar cam with AVCHD- (either sony, panasonic)- does it run relatively smoothly in PR PRO CS4 or would I be running into choppy playback with just 2-3 pip video tracks

    Jim -
Pardon the interuption. I'll try to be brief. I'm an old PR PRO 6.5 user( current old desktop is truly 'outdated'/no power ).  I got out of the 'tape' cameras. For starters, bought a Canon Vixia HF21( AVCHD ).   Am having trouble importing into current laptop using PR PRO CS4(Master Collection ).   Installed AVS4YOU Video Converter.   Took 5HRS 28MIN to convert a 51min program( imported in 4, .mts files - the 2GB thing ) to .AVI file, then tried MPEG2.   When in PP CS4, shows up 1/4 size on Program Monitor( I even 'stretched it' in the Program Monitor to full size ).   After editing, sent to Encoder.  After 5HRS 21MIN, sent to Encore.  Resulting DVD is sluggish, blurry, choppy, anything else that can happen.
Currently using laptop....( 'cuz I have 2 small projects to finish )

I have 64 bit windows 7 and CS4 Production Premium. I have a problem with Premiere Pro CS4, it keeps freezing and Crashing. A simple thing like leaving the project idle for about 15 minutes, you come back and find that it has frozen. Also if you drag out a clip on the timeline you will find that the whole application freezes. Any possible solutions would be much appreciated.

  • I am unable to capture using Matrox MXO2 LE with Preimere Pro CS6 and Windows 8

I have a Matrox MXO2 LE and trying to capture with Preimere Pro CS6.  My OS is Windows 8 and it sees my Matrox Device via my device managers.  No option comes up in CS6 to allow me to actually capture.  I am a new beginner with both Matorx and Preimere so learning on the way.
    Background Information:
I have a Datavideo SE 600 Switcher (SD) and it is connected to the Matrox.  I am trying to capture into Preimere Pro so that we can make DVDs instanly after service, we are a church.  I am able to capture using Adobe Live Media Encoder for Live streaming but not Preimere Pro CS6.

Check with Matrox... ask 2 things
1-do you have a device driver that is "certified" for PProCS6?
2-do you have a device driver that is "certified" for Windows 8?
The only NATIVE support in Premiere (any version) is Firewire

  • Graphics Card issues with Premiere Pro CS4

    Hey there,
I've placed the screenshot of my problem at the bottom of this post.
I'm having lots of issues with premiere pro CS4 and editing videos since I upgraded to Windows 7. I have some .mpg and .MP4 videos. Both of which play fine in WMP, VLC, WinAmp, VirtualDJ etc. But when I load them into PPRO CS4, as you can see in the screenshot they go green and pink. And they don't move. I.e you see one still image and hear only audio.
Now a fix I have found for this is to uninstall my graphics card. But this is no way an option to edit videos, as the resoultion goes from 1920 x 1080 to 1024 x 768.
I should add that I am runnig the following system:
    Dell Vostro 1000 Latpop
    Windows 7 Ultimate 32Bit
    2.00Ghz AMD Sempron Processor
    2GB RAM
ATI Radeon XPress 1150 Graphics card
I have the latest graphics card drivers installed. I am just wondering what the problem is, and a potential fix. Would be great to hear any advice,
    Regards,
    Adam.

OK, here are some other things to think about:
ATI/AMD Catalyst seems to have an issue with one of the latest versions, maybe rollback to an earlier version.
Depending on your OS, check Hardware Acceleration (though this usually affect smoothness of playback) in Control Panel>System>Hardware>Advanced.
    Check your OpenGL settings.
In Catalyst, turn OFF any GPU Acceleration
That's about all that I can think of for now, and those are shots in the dark.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • What's a good HD camera to use with Premiere Pro CS4

I've used Premiere Pro CS4 for a while now and most of the time I don't have any problems, but recently, I've been buying HD cameras, shooting some AVCHD and then having a hell of a time getting them to play nice with Premiere Pro (or WMindows Media Player... or Quicktime... or anything but their crappy bundled software that won't let me edit or anything). My girlfriend says I should give up and buy a Mac and use FCP, but I like Premiere Pro. I'm about to take another camera back to Best Buy and I'm wondering if anyone has a suggestion for the easiest camera to use with Premiere Pro.
In case you're wondering, I've bought a Canon Vixia HF10 and a Samsung HMX-H100 so far and both had every issue I can think of from codec incompatibility to aspect ratios changing to A/V sync being lost to all-out-I-don't-know-WTF-just-happend-errors. I just want a camera that's going to give me a file I can drop straight into Premiere.

Unless you want a new computer, forget about AVCHD. It requires too much muscle to edit comfortably on anything but the fastest computer.
What camera is nice, depends on your budget. Formats that are easy to edit are HDV, DVCProHD (P2) and XDCAM. In the consumer range you could look at the Canon HV40 or XH-A1s, in the prosumer range look at the Panasonic AG-HPX170, Canon XH-H1s, JVC GY-ND250 or Sony HVR Z5 or Z7 and all Sony XDCAM cameras, especially the EX1 and EX3. In the professional range look at the Sony PDW-F355 or upward.

  • Using new Adove Media Encoder with Premiere pro cs4

I have Premiere Pro Cs4 and Design&Web premium CS6 -  which comes with Adobe Media Encoder cs6. Can I get Premiere Pro CS4 to use the new encoder (and hopefully speed up)?

I am on Window 7 32-bit that Premiere CS6 does not work. So I use CS4 for editing. For one specific project, I kept getting errors when using AME CS4 and it was extremely slow (8min of video estimated 20 hours). Someone said CS4 4.2 is really slow so I'd like to use AME CS6 to render project files from CS4. Tried that but got adobe dynamic link components error. I think it may be because I didn't include Premiere and After Effects when installing CS6.
Do you have success using AME CS6 on CS4 project file? Is it likely to make it work without installing CS6 one more time?
    Thanks,

  • Error installing Premiere Pro CS4 - "The Installer Database is corrupt. Please contact Adobe Customer Service"

I had to replace my hard drive and so I had to re-install Premiere Pro CS4. I tried to do that with the files I had downloaded before, but the install failed and gave me the error message "The Installer Database is corrupt. Please contact Adobe Customer Service".
I assumed that the files I downloaded had become corrupt, so I logged on and re-downloaded the ADBEPPROCS4_LS7.7z and ADBEPPROCS4_LS7.exe files. I ran ADBEPPROCS4_LS7.exe and it also failed and gave me the same error message. I tried another download from a different page and got the same error again.
Can anyone suggest what I can do to get my program installed?

  • QTFC Issues with Premiere Pro CS4?

    Hello there.
So recently, I have been having issues with my adobe programs. I have the Master Collection CS4 and when I launch programs like After Effects, it tells me the following.
"QuickTime functions will be disabled because a compatible version of QuickTime could not be found"
and here's my real issue. When I go to launch Premiere Pro CS4, I get the following error.
"Adobe Premiere Pro.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point QTCF_CFUniCharGetUnicodePropertyDataForPlane could not be located in the dynamic library link QTCF.dll"
I click OK and it pops up again, then premiere launches. How do I get rid of this error? I have tried reinstalling Master Collection and Quicktime but that didn't help.
I cannot afford to reformat computer as I'm very busy and need my programs to work.
Thankyou for your time and support.
    -Matthew.

To answer your question. I had the same problem that you had. I was using Quicktime 7. So I downgraded by downloading Quicktime 6.4
    Here's a link:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120297
So I installed QT 6.4, and the error message is no longer there. But there is another issue, I try to import or find a file that is a .mov and it says File format not supported. Which is weird because you get that if you don't have quicktime installed. That may be an entirely different problem. But hope this at least helps you answer your question.

  • AVCHD or HDV for Premiere Pro CS4?

    Hi,
I have a P4, 2.8Ghz, 2G Ram with XP Pro. I hear rumblings that AVCHD is kinda a nightmare with Premiere CS4 in terms of playback stutter. Ultimately I want the least frustrating editing experience I can have with PPCS4. I'm prone to punching my desk if things get too bogged or buggy while dealing with software so I guess my question is this: Would PPCS4 be happier with AVCHD or HDV given my system?
    Thanks,
    Matt.

    Matt,
I had a heftier machine than that and AVCHD was completely unworkable. As mentioned, you need some serious horses if you're going to do HD.
Based on a lot of excellent advice here (meaning solid, useful info even if it wasn't what I wanted to hear) I bought a heftier box and CS4 / AVCHD works just dandy now.
If you can't afford a new box, I'd convert your footage to SD and work in that format, or you'll have bloody knuckles from punching your desk all day.
And I second the reference to John, Hunt and Harm posts on hardware matters with great enthusiasm.

  • Error installing Premiere Pro CS4 trial version

    Hi all,
i've just downloaded Premiere Pro CS4 for testing.
During installation the files were extracted and setup was starting. But after the system check the installer says that an error occured and that i have to look in the log file. So i'm not able to install the trial.
    Any ideas?
It can't be a problem of the installer, i've downloaded the sources twice.

If you have not done so, make sure that your Account is an Administrator. Turn off ALL Anti-virus, pop-up blockers and sypware programs.
As later Adobe installers rely heavily on Flash, I'd make sure to have the very latest Flash Player (free from Adobe).
If this fails to resolve the issue, you might try to install from Safe Mode. IIRC, PrPro will NOT allow for this, though PS still does. Still, you can test my memory here.
Good luck, and I'm sure others will have additional ideas for you,

  • Avid codec with premiere pro cs4

has anyone used Avid DnxHD codec with premiere? I cant change the settings of the codec and i wanted to see how much better it would be compared to Apple ProRes422(HQ). Has anyone got it to work or is it a no go? and how come i cant edit the settings of ProRes422?
I use premiere pro instead of Final cut pro because my camera records AVCHD and i dont want to loose any quality in which log and transfer in final cut pro will do.

I believe that DNxHD is a slight modicum of "better" than ProRes--some video guru somewhere on the web did a comparison of the two, and DNxHD came out on top. I personally haven't done a comparison, so I have to take that for what it's worth. I think that for most mere mortals, the differences are going to be minuscule and quite inconsequential--but you might be able to detect the difference ;)
The only way to not compress your video again is, well, to not compress it again. In other words, use something like Apple Animation which will give you a bit-for-bit, pixel-for-pixel copy of your original. Of course, your hard drive will fill up and explode, depending on the length of your export, but that's the trade-off for pristine quality.
Bear in mind that the AVCHD you're working with is already highly compressed. Even at its minimum compression (24Mbps), there's still quite a bit of squeezing going on, as well as other processing going on intrinsic to H.264 that makes it look so purty, but be so damned hard to edit. Again, this is the trade-off. I think you need to carefully weigh the importance of saving a few fleeting pixels over the mountain of hard drive space that you'll need to store these massive exports. You get six of one, or a half dozen of the other.
Since you've got the Master collection, I'd suggest sending your finished PPro timeline to AE via Dynamic Link (lasso your clips, right-click, and hit "Send to After Effects"). You don't need to change anything there; just put that comp into the render queue, tweak your settings for DNxHD/ProRes export, and go to town. Like Josh, I can't speak to ProRes because I'm on Windows and we can only play it back, but you should be able to change its settings there. If not, go with DNxHD because you have full customization of the codec at your fingertips--colorspace included.
Regarding the audio: don't sweat that AE can't export or deal with 5.1. Just export that from PPro, either as a mix (if you can do that--I'm not sure as I don't work in 5.1) or as 6 mono files. Then, just store those with the video rendered out of AE. You can always stitch everything back together later in your NLE of choice, and export/render out a distribution format. Make it easy on yourself!
