AVCHD to Blu-ray yields out-of-sync audio when not using TS

I have a need (won't go into too many details) to render my AVCHD project as separate M4V and WAV files; I can't have the output be multiplexed as a TS. However, the audio is horribly out-of-sync unless I output as a TS. For example, if I load up a timeline with ~40min of clips from my Sony HDR-CX12 AVCHD camcorder and render as Blu-ray H.264 1920x1080i, non-multiplexed, with PCM audio, the resultant WAV file is a full four seconds shorter than the M4V file! Ouch!! I'm guessing each AVCHD clip has just slightly less audio than video, and that it just adds up in the end, but why can't Premiere accomodate this? Is there a way to have it introduce delay at each cut? Obviously, the packetizing/multiplexing process for a TS accounts for this, but again, I can't use a TS; I need a WAV file that's in step with the video.
I also tried rendering a TS (which plays fine and doesn't have sync issues) and then demuxing with xport.exe, but this leads to the same problem.
Thanks for any suggestions!
Cheers,
Aaron

> Could this be a DF versus NDF issue?
Hmmm... every setting and Properties window shows 29.97... anything else I should look for?
> use a Time Stretching effect
I'll keep that in my back pocket for now. Doesn't seem like I should have to go to that length, however, but... Assuming the error in the source is relatively constant per AVCHD clip (maybe not a valid assumption, but seems reasonable), then the stretch effect would result in audio that was more or less out-of-sync depending on the density of cuts on the timeline.
Is it possible to create an audio-only TS using Premiere? Something that preserves the timing information? Seems not, but maybe there is. When I uncheck "Export Video", the option to create a TS seems to disappear :-(

  • Out of sync audio when trying to capture from digital 8 camera to quicktime, please help

    Just trying to capture hi 8 tapes using a sony digital 8 dcr-trv355e pal into quicktime;
great clear video but  audio becomes out of sync like a bad kungfu movie,
contacted apple they tried to help, but they dont really understand issue
    there are lots of people out there that are trying to digitise old analog video;
    I have fcpx and imovie they both play the old video via  the digital 8 camera but cannot capture;
that is why using quicktime; thanks!!

Yes i think its something to do ith the fact its a wmv file, when i use mpeg footage it exports fine.
basically, no matter how long the video, the video is out of sync...its weird
i've decided the best thing to do is leave quicktime and export using windows media instead, that seems to give me a better looking picture witha small file size anyway
    thanks for your help though!

  • Out of sync audio when burning a DVD with iDVD

    Hello Folks,
I'm trying to burn 3 - 1 minute quicktime files to a DVD using iDVD 7.1.2 and everytime I burn a disc the sound is out of sync. It seems to speed up and finish about 10 seconds earlier than the video. When previewed all is fine. I have checked the 3 quicktime files and they are perfectly in sync when played. Any suggestions ?
    Thanks

    Hi Bengt,
Thanks for replying ! I spoke with tech support and we tried everything including saving it as a disk image but after the burn it still was out of sync.
Then we tried creating a project in i Movie and then imported (shared) the project into i DVD and it worked !
This was a frustrating issue to tackle but I'm ready for it if it happens again.
Thank you very much for your help. Have a great day.
    Best regards,

  • Audio out of sync with presentation (not using full motion)

When I preview or publish a project using Captivate 5, the audio is out of sync with the presentation. I am not using any full motion recording, which I know has caused audio/video sync issues in previous versions of Captivate. The audio is slide specific, with a separate audio file for each slide. (In other words, I'm not trying to break a large audio file over many slides.) When each slide is viewed individually -- in the workstation, in the preview window, or in the published version -- the audio is synced just fine. The problem arises only when I try to watch the entire presentation (approx. 10 minutes in length). The audio gradually lags behind the visual.  By about half way through the project, the visual presentation is noticably ahead of the audio. By the end, the audio is nearly 4 seconds behind the video. I cannot detect a noticeable change in pitch or speed of the audio, so if the audio is being altered in any way, the alteration is slight.
However, if I use the playback controls to advance to a single slide, the audio is fine for that slide and those immediately after, although it does gradually get off again as the project progresses. (So, for example, if I start the playback in the middle of the project, the audio will only be off by about 2 seconds by the end, rather than 4.)
I have tried various publishing options (although I don't think publishing is the problem, since this happens when I preview the project as well). I have used 2 different computers and also tried viewing the published version locally and streaming. None of these alterations seem to make a difference. By the end of the presentation, regardless of how the project is published or viewed, the audio is several seconds behind the video.
    My specs:
    Captivate 5
    Microsoft XP OS
    2 GB RAM
    Publishing to .swf
    Suggestions?

    Hi Mukul,
Thank you very much for your careful responses. Here are the answers to the questions.
First of all, the "slow video" behavior does appear only after adding the slides mentioned in previous post.
    1.    I created a “software simulation” project. It IS a capture+audio recording.
    2.    Since I recorded the audio while doing screen capture, almost every slide has audio, which is not convenient to edit at all. Is there any other better way that I missed so that we can keep the audio and video at the same step while editing them? As I know so far, either insert silence or delete a little audio to one slide, the audio becomes short, but the slide duration time is still the same as before unless we change that manually which normally is not precise enough to match the audio.
    3.    I tried to add the blank slides at where there is a pause of speaking and where they are close to the problem slides. Otherwise, the speaking would sound weird.
    4.    Published SWF file size is 20.6 MB.
    5.    I do have two externalized video files for title and end.
    6.    Unfortunately, it is still slow even if it played on a different system.
And another problem comes up these days. After publication, the screen resolution is not good (like some grey ink left on screen) wherever click or type something. It did not happen before even if worked on the same computer.
I am very sorry that there are so many problems. I have been working on this for long time. The project totally drove me nuts. Hopefully you have more ideas about that.
    I really appreciate your help.
    Sincerely,
    Linda

  • Importing AVI into FCE has out of sync audio, but not in iMovie?

    Hi all,
I'ave searched around and can't seen to find this issue in other parts of the forum, so thought I would try posting up. I'm using a GoPro camera which creates AVI files at 27fps, 512 x 384, Mono Audio, 8.0KHz, 32-bit Floating Point. I'm totally new to FCE, but when I drag these files into the project space and watch them on the viewer... it seems like the audio is almost 10 seconds ahead of the video right off the bat. It was the case with all 6 videos I had.
The crazy thing is when I drag these files into iMovie... the audio and video is sync'd up fine. Is there some setting in FCE that I'm missing that's causing this issue?
Any help would be greatly appreciated... I just went out and bought FCE because I figured if I'm going to start editing video more often... I should step up and of course I can't even get my raw clips to play correctly right off the bat
Thanks in advance for any help!
    Jack

A DV-NTSC video file of 12GB should be a video about 55 minutes in length. If that's the approximate length of your avi video file, then you're probably good to go.
Have you brought the QT file into FCE? Did it behave properly?
FCE's learning curve IS pretty steep. You'd be wise to invest in some training material. Two excellent choices:

  • .mts files out of sync audio when importing in Premiere Pro CC

When I import .mts files from my nxcam in Premiere Pro CC, the audio of the clips in not in sync. Can anybody help me with this issue? Thank you!

    Hi,
Please try renaming one of the footages from .mts to .m2ts and then import in Premiere. See if that helps.

  • Out of sync audio six channels

    Dear All,
I have not had a problem with this before, but suddenly I have out-of-sync audio when mixing six channels in FCP. Using my Canon XL1-S, I recorded 4 channels of audio in 12 bit mode, 32 khz. I then added another two channels of audio from a separate Sony digital recorder into the FCP edit. First I set the sequence settings to 32khz and ran everything in 32 bit mode, converting all of the audio through Quicktime pro. The 4 channels from the Canon XL1-s are in perfect sync, but the two channels from the Sony digital are playing at a faster speed and are drifting as the movie progresses...the length is 1:25:00. I then went back and converted everything to 48khz and changed the Sequence settings accordingly, but the Sony audio is still drifting and playing more slowly than the other two channels. What am I doing wrong and how can I bring all of the audio together? Thanks. I'm working with FCP 6.0.6 on a Mac Pro with Snow Leopard 10.6.6. Barbara Smits

What is the format of these Sony files?
. . . the Sony audio is still drifting and playing more slowly than the other two channels.
Unless you are timecode locked between devices, it seems reasonable to me that there will be sync drift if the Sony external recorder is not locked to the video signal.
You might try selecting the Sony audio clips on the timeline and adjusting the speed slightly, such as 101% and see if that gets you closer to sync.
    Hope this helps

  • Dropped frames or out-of-sync audio

Using Sony HDR-FX1 and FCE-HD is set to DV-NTSC. I've also tried DV-NTSC Firewire Basic. I've been trying various suggestions I've found in the Discussions to cure dropped frames that prevent me from capturing and out-of-sync audio making footage I do capture useless. Mac is running 10.4 with 5.5 GB of RAM and dual 2 GHz G5.
I'm capturing to my main hard drive which has plenty of space - when I'm done editing, I archive old footage on an external drive.
"Abort capture on dropped frames" is currently checked. Lately, this means I can't get more than a few seconds without the capture stopping. This never used to happen, now it happens all the time no matter what tapes I'm capturing from.
If I uncheck it, the audio on the captured footage is out of sync. Over time, as I've been trying to trouble shoot this using the Discussions, my projects remain unfinished and deadlines are looming sooner and sooner.
If someonce could please help me I'd be very grateful.

    Hi(Bonjour)!
Did you shoot in DV or HDV ?
Did you try to capture HDV with Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i60 (or 50 for europe)?
Does you downconvert HDV shooted to DV upon capturing from camcorder ?
DV-NTSC 48 kHz is the way to go with downconverted material.
Does your DV audio setting is 16 bit on FX1 ? (HDV is a fixed one).

  • Audio/video out of sync (audio delay) with PowerBeats wireless earphones.

I am having a problem with audio/video sync between my  PowerBeats Wireless earphones with my MacPro and MacBookPro. I have tried pairing, playing the video, pausing the video, turning off the PowerBeats, tuning the PowerBeats on, then starting the video playback again. I have the same audio delay so this not working for me. Anyone have an update as to how to fix this audio/video sync problem?

I am playing MPEG-4 movie files. I did open MPlayerX from my dock, then pulled down File to select Open which then did show the folder where these movie files are stored.  Then I was able to select a movie file, open it, and use "Decrease Audio Delay" to closely sync the audio with the video. I say closely because it is not perfect. Rather than stepping each increase or decrease in one tenth of a second, perhaps a finer adjustment would have been in milliseconds. This is the adjustment that I have with my AVR to sync the audio with the video, so I know this is a possible increment adjustment. The perfect adjustment was in between -0.4 and -0.5 second, however, this was not possible in one tenth second adjustments. The closest adjustment was with -0.4 second rather than with -0.5 second. So, adjustments in milliseconds could have been very near a perfect sync. Perhaps later versions of MPlayer will offer the adjustment selection in milliseconds. Nevertheless, this is working much, much better than before. Thank you so much. I have spent most of this day researching this problem and you have come up with by far the best solution. This problem goes all the way back to 2010 and possibly beyond for Apple products. There are hundreds of reports documenting out of sync audio/video issues with no solution that works as well as MPlayerX. Even the Beats support staff have no idea of how to resolve the audio/video out of sync.

  • Out of sync audio markers

Why there are not out of sync audio warnings in final cut x?

Not sure this is the best place to ask questions about why 'features' are not in the application, but to give you a genral answer from the manual about what I assume you are pondering:
By default, Final Cut Pro imports audio and video from the same source into one clip. You can easily detach the audio from a video clip so that you can edit the audio clip separately in the Timeline.
This means that unless you detached the audio yourself, the clip is treated as one source. If you detach it, you are own your own.
If you are wanting to request a feature of some sort for Final Cut Pro X, try this Feedback Form.
    Best of Luck!

  • Out of Sync audio involving 12 - 16 bit  HELP!!!!

    Dear Apple Community,
I recently video taped my brothers wedding on my Canon PAL MV700i mini DV. Little did I know I recorded in 12 bit audio, which ive learnt is bad(ive now changed over to 16 bit). When capturing onto Final Cut Express I did so in 50 minute blocks. When re-playing this the audio was out by like 2 seconds. My first question is, is my footage un-editable because it was recorded in 12 bit? or does changing the setting before capturing fix it? (because i did this but it still was out of sync) Furthermore, when i capture in small portions, like 2 minutes, the audio is in sync? and this was the footage that was previously captured in the 50 minute section but WAS out of sync? Does the length of the capturing effect the audio?
    Lol anyone got any ideas?

Sorry to be a pain mate, but I captured for only a minute and the audio was 2 seconds out. Ive changed the audio to 16 bit but nothing seems to be working. At the end of the capture this window pops up: "The audio sample rate of one or more of your captured media files does not match the sample rate on your source tape. This may cause the video and audio of these media files to be out of sync. Make sure the audio sample of your capture preset matches the sample rate of your tape."
    Any ideas?
