AVerMedia H334 MiniCard Hybrid ATSC/QAM

When I bought my Envy 23 and a 3-year support package, I was running Windows 8.0.  When I upgraded to 8.1, my AverMedia TV card does not work.  I contacted HP many times and was told that the issue was one for AverMedia to solve.  "it's their problem, not ours," the HP technicians advised.  I feel abandoned and very, very disappointed with HP.  In fact, the problem is one that HP can not assign to AverMedia.  This is what AverMedia told me when, finally, I was able to get a response from them:
"Thank you for choosing AVerMedia.
"Please note that H334 is an ODM\OEM product manufactured by Avermedia Taiwan for another manufacturers (Acer, Dell, Toshiba, etc) . In these cases only those manufacturers develop and own the right driver and application for the tuner integrated in their hardware system. To find software for your ODM product you must contact your computer manufacturer. Sorry to cause your inconvenience! Best Regards, AVerMedia Technical Support Team."
This can't be hard to fix if HP just sets its corporate mind to do that.  I'm very disappointed.  If anyone has a solution, I'd love to hear it.  Thanks.

Thank you for the additional information.
If you look at this link, you will see why I asked for the exact model of the computer.  There are 77, Envy 23 models.
Here is the Win 8.0 driver for the card.  Please try it to see if it works.  It may be that there was a glitch when you did the update to Win 8.1.  I have seen instances where the Win 8.0 driver will work with Win 8.1.

Sorry, you didn't specifiy that you installed a 32-bit OS. 64-bit OSes are the most commonly installed versions and that is what most current drivers default to.

  • TV Tuner Card and Signal for AVerMedia A323 Hybrid ATSC

Community, need a little assist.  Here is my set up
    TouchSmart 520-1070 w/
    Windows 7 - 64 bit
    Windows Media Center
    AverMedia A323 MiniCard Hybrid ATSC
    Cox Communications Cable
No cable box (straight out of the wall)
This is a replacement of my Slimline s5260F which contained a Hauppauge ATSC and NTSC TV tuner.  I have input my cable and am attempting to tune my channels, however, following the scan for channels, the return is that there are no stations.  I have attempted to set up manually on different settings to try and pick up a signal, but to no avail.
My previous card could pick up the analog channels as well as some of the standard HD channels for the big (CBS, NBC, ABC).  Again, no cable box, just straight out of my wall into the computer.  To my great surprise, that tuner card, even picked up some of the channels such as ESPN, CNN, Discovery (not HD, but still).  I attribute this to the cable company actually having a digital signal into my home, but not having the box would keep me from seeing these channels.  I really don't care if I don't see those with my new TouchSmart.
However, I can't even get a standard analog setup.  It will pull down the guide in Media Center which then identifies that I have a Clear QAM digital signal.  I run the channel setup and nothing comes back.  All I get even on the non-HD channel is some of the audio and then just scrambled signal.  If I go back an manually set up with just an analog signal, it doesn't change a thing, so I'm kind of at a lose.  I have digital quality signal but no way to pick that up and I can go back to my standard analog channels.
Does someone know the work around where I don't have to: 1) lay out more money for an adaptor for my computer to decode the digital signal, or; 2) have to pay a cable company to install a cable box and start paying more money to watch digital TV.  All I'm really looking for is to record a few shows from the major networks.
    Regards and thanks in advance!

    Hello Compute_This:
Sorry body your TV tuner will not work period no mater what you do. Please read this full article at the very bottom of it is the collusion from tuners company. http://www.fathsoft.com/support/index.php?a=5&cat=2&tid=923
I would take it back and get my money back. If not able to that then put it on line and sell it to some one outside of USA. They can use it because they are still using Anog. TV signals. Here is one that is supose to work least that is what it says in detail information on this page. http://www.antonline.com/p_MTVHVMXSK-NX_751196.htm?sID=NX Here is another one to veiw. Specks for it at bottom of page This one includes FM tuner as well. http://www.buy.com/prod/kingston-16gb-datatraveler-109-usb-2-0-flash-drive-black-and-white/225557322... Most of the tv tuners I searched won't work on windows 7 computers and are for Anlog TV like the one you have. These are the only two I could find that say they are HDTV for windows 7. I went and checked all they had listed for pc tv tuners. Read costomers reviews if it was listed. You do same and save your self  money and headaches. Your welcome frrw. I would have posted this sooner how ever I was still researching there where alot tv tuners listed.

  • Sound randomly stops working in Windows 8

I have a new HP PC and the sound randomly stops working.  When the sound stops, it stops in all applications:  iTunes, Web Browser, etc.
    PC DETAILS:
    HP Omni 27 all-in-one desktop
    Windows 8 Pro
In Device Manager, under Sound, this is what I have:
    - AVerMedia H334 MiniCard Hybrid ATSC/QAM
    - Bluetooth Audio Device
    - IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
I just set up this new pc this week and I have run all the windows  and drivers updates so everything is up to date.
When I boot up the pc, the sound works fine for a while and then randomly stops working.  For example, if I play music in iTunes 11, the latest version, it may play for 1 minute or it may play for 10 minutes and then it just randomly stops playing sound and the sound will not come back until I reboot and the same thing happens all over again.
I have searched this online and I found quite a few people posting similar sound issues with Windows 8, but I have not found a fix for this problem yet.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I had problem with my B520. The thouchscreen stopped responding after Win 8.1 upgrade. I fixed that and I offer a solution for anybody, who need it. I reinstalled drivers for AVerMedia A336 MiniCard Hybrid ATSC/QAM device and now the screen works just fine. That is a link http://www.devid.info/download/20182/24 to download. After opening the web find "tv_a336_7_v10.2.64.38_aio.zip" and that is it. Good luck.

You should try to set up your device again "as new ipod" without using the latest backup, maybe your backup contains corrupt data causing your problems. How to back up your data and set up as a new device
Also try to delete the mail account and set it up again, if you are using push/fetch, it might be possible that mail gets stuck logging in on the server over and over again.

  • How to use Avermedia TV Tuner Card

How to get Avermedia card to work on HP desktop and be able to use only one remote for sound and channel changing.
Adventures with a new HP "All In One" 23Z Pavilion computer
OLD PC - Some history first. We had an older (2008) hp all in one desk top with a touch screen. It had Windows Vista and it was getting harder to keep updated. This computer came with a built in TV card, IR receiver, and IR blaster output port and accompanying cable. We have Comcast service and have the upgraded digital set top box. We used Windows Media Center(WMC) to watch TV on the computer. We configured WMC so it would understand the Comcast remote's commands and transmit them over the IR blaster to the Comcast box. We taped the outboard end of the IR blaster cable to the front of the Comcast box, directly in front of the IR receiver eye. We were able to use the remote provided by HP to change channels and adjust volume, and mute. (All the commands we needed to watch TV). WMC had some basic record and play facilities that we seldom used.
NEW PC - We decided to upgrade to a new computer and got the latest HP pavilion all in one desktop. It originally came with windows 8.1 which we later upgraded to 8.1 pro. HP support told us that we needed 8.1 pro to get WMC. More on WMC later. We got an Avermedia card with the new all in one desktop computer. It worked fine with the Avermedia software. Although, we had to use 2 remotes, one for the Comcast box to change channels and one for the HP computer to change volume and mute. We got the Avermedia TV player version 1.8.1 with the Avermedia H8370 USB Hybrid ATSC/QAM card. The Avermedia TV player was easy to configure.
We got WMC for windows 8.1 pro and hoped we could configure it like our old computer to work with one remote. When we tried to configure WMC, it stopped and would go no further without an IR receiver. Since the new computer came with a remote, we thought it had an IR receiver built in, and so did HP. Come to fine out, the remote works in conjunction with the keyboard and mouse, wirelessly. It doesn't work when the wireless receiver is unplugged from the USB port. There is no on board IR receiver in the new computer. We were looking on line and found a USB connecting IR receiver that has an HP brand name on it and comes with a remote and IR blaster that should allow it to transmit the IR signal to the Comcast box. (like our old setup) We ordered it and installed it. It did not require drivers to be installed with it. We went back to configuring WMC and got past the "no IR receiver message" and after several tries at configuring the Comcast remote(eventually with some success), finally got a "display driver error, the video playback device does not support playback of protected content.", and we could go no further. Comcast broadcast signals are encrypted, but not protected. Also, the Comcast box is hooked to the Avermedia stick by a coax cable that broadcasts on channel 3. I would expect this kind of error if we fed the Comcast cable directly into the Avermedia card. Anyway, while playing with WMC to get the right remote signals and configurations, I noticed that the Comcast remote would now adjust the volume on the HP computer. It's working through the new IR receiver. We abandoned WMC and all its issues and are now using the Avermedia software with one (Comcast) remote. We did get an IR extender cable from Comcast that allows remote transmission of the IR signal to the Comcast box. We then were able to mount the Comcast box behind the computer monitor and just stick the IR extender receiving end on top of the computer monitor. All I can figure is that the signals for volume up and down and mute must be common to the Comcast remote and the HP computer. We did not attempt to reconfigure the Comcast remote with any "TV" codes, we are just using the default settings on the Comcast remote.
All the Comcast functions work normally since we are using the Comcast remote, the only commands we really needed were to control volume and mute on the computer, and this now works. The Avermedia software has some basic recording functions and we now have all the facilities we used to have.
All we really needed to buy was the IR receiver to make this work. We didn't need the HP remote (we now have 2) and the IR blaster cable that came as a package. The IR receiver was listed as a NEW HP USB MCE IR receiver/Remote Controller/IR emitter Win 7 Vista. We got it from ECHOMAN out of Las Vegas. We found it through Amazon for about $19.00. HP can't find this as a product from their company so don't try. There may be other solutions out there but this worked for us.
The new HP "All IN One" is not really "All In One". It came with 4 2.0 USB ports and 2 3.0 USB ports. I've had to use 2 of the USB ports to get the TV working and 1 to get the wireless keyboard/ mouse working. The old computer had on-board IR receiver, TV card, and wireless keyboard/mouse receiver and IR blaster port/cable.
We were very disappointed by both HP sales and service in support of this product. Sales didn't know what they were selling and promised everything and there was virtually no support from the hardware/software support team. We finally did get some support from HP but it was in the form of "Case Manager" when we finally threatened to return the product. HP did give us some help by offering an extended warranty at no cost for all our trouble. We contacted Avermedia for help and they would only refer us back to HP because they were second party retailers. Avermedia did give some support but only after repeated e-mails. All this knowledge was gained through the school of hard knocks and really looks simple when you look back on it.  So we hope this will help someone who finds themselves in our position.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

This problem has been solved.  We sent the Hp computer back and bought a DELL that has an HD port that connects directly to our comcast set top box and we push a button and it goes to HD TV mode and push it again and it goes back to pc mode

  • How to view broadcast tv on Touchsmart with internal tuner

I would like to watch digital over-the-air tv on my Touchsmart420 using the built-in ATSC tuner.
I have connected a tv antenna to the computer.
In Media Center I get a message saying that no tv signal is detected.
Do I need a special kind of tv antenna?
Should the antenna be connected to the port that has an icon looking like a tv with rabbit ears on top (rectangle with v on top and arrow pointing in)?
The computer is HP Touchsmart 420, product # QB908AV#ABA
    Windows 7
The installed tv tuner is AVerMedia H323 MiniCard Hybrid ATSC
I have updated the driver (appears to be same as I already had)
I have tried 2 different tv antennae, both receive digital signals when attached to television set.
    Thanks for help!

In case anyone else is having difficulty with over-the-air tv:
I tried several different antennae and found that an amplified "rabbit ears" model worked best. I don't need an amplified antenna to get signal on a television in the same room, so perhaps the computer tuner is not as strong.

  • Tuner not working on my TouchSmart 300

Situation:  Brand new TouchSmart with tuner not working out of the box.
Driver appears to be installed and working, but tuner will not pick up any channels.
Both ATSC(antenna) and NTSC(converter box used) were scanned and nothing picked up in either mode.
Both LiveTV and Media Center give same results.
HP will be picking it up to be serviced. I'm wondering if it's a Window7 Home Premium 64 bit and driver issue?
I suppose it could be a bad card.
Driver was uninstalled and reinstalled - did not work
OS was reinstalled (online chat said that reinstall fixes 5 of 10 computers with this problem)
    Computer:  HP TouchSmart 300 - 1000z
Driver:  AVerMedia A323 MiniCard Hybrid ATSC version 1.1.64.46
    OS:  Windows 7 Home Premium
Any ideas?  I really like the computer, I really don't want to deal with the hassle of shipping and setup again.
    Thanks

This seems like a possible problem with the device access point settings. Are other applications able to connect to internet, for example browser?

I must always store the data with a new name, then it works, but I also cannot remove the old datas or shift them into the waste paper - because of no rights! -- sorry for not perfect english, I am German native speaker! Tahnks a lot for help!

The HP update error code (9996) usually indicates the update is not needed for your computer and it should not be installed. Here are the specs for your Touchsmart IQ506t desktop computer. According to the specs, your computer came with an AVerMedia NTSC/ATSC (A327) PCI Express x1 hybrid tv-tuner mini card. The Windows 7 driver you are trying to install indicates it is for the AVerMedia (A323) Minicard Hybrid ATSC and Hybrid DVB-T TV tuner. The original Windows Vista driver is for the AVerMedia A326 and A327 Mini-Card Hybrid Analog/ATSC TV tuners. Based on this information, I would say that the Windows 7 driver is incorrect for your TV tuner. I would consider searching HP's drivers for a different one or possible looking at AVerMedia for a driver.

  • Got Aver Radio working?

I tried to add the little widget from AverMedia to my iq818a (which has an AVerMedia A323 MiniCard Hybrid DVB-T on PCIe)
    [text removed]
(although it is said to be for Vista Sidebar, Win7 32 & 64bit are both in the os list; also there are links for a variety of cards)
I installed it on Win7 and it's now indeed in the list of available widgets (with the clock, weather, recorded TV etc..) but it doesn't work: it's inert..
It is not mentioned but I understood that the Radio relies on the Aver Media Center being installed to function.
    [text removed]
But any function (TV, Music, Settings etc..) accessed in the app ends up with the message "Can't Find AVerMedia TV Tuner Cards".
A search on this eventually brings the conclusion that "OEM version of our " cards "cannot use our software"...
So: has anyone found the trick (modified ini file, other version etc..?) to get it to find the card?
Alternatively: does anyone know of a different FM Widget that works?..

One of the HP technical support Web pages for the IQ818a is titled "Manuals for HP TouchSmart IQ818a Desktop PC"
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=uk&lang=en&product=3816180&
and there's a pdf document called "Watching and Recording TV" which is available for download:
    http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01524663.pdf
The "Remote Control Overview", on page 6, lists the HP Remote Control buttons, and for the button No 4, it reads:
4 Radio — Opens the FM Radio window in Windows Media Center.
Wait a minute!.. Lo and behold: yes it is there! Top left of the Remote control that ships with this machine (IQ818a) !
Now, if this made you think that FM Radio is "an included feature" of the IQ818a Desktop PC, you'd better watch out as you might hyperventilate with anticipation and get all huffy puffy while you kept pressing a button that says "Radio" but never promised to play any program from any station!
The odd thing, of course, is that when it's used outside the IQ818a, this tuner card can receive radio stations and operate under the Vista/Win7 widget from AverMedia.. But then the same card, when "installed at the factory by HP is promised to do whatever HP wants it to do", and, in particular, to prohibit you from setting your choice of radio stations..
"They never promised it would" dianebrat writes. Perhaps... Still, I wonder why they would remove it. I suppose this facility must have vanished by itself in a puff of smoke!..
I also wonder what dianebrat is on and how s/he knows that "HP and Avermedia are 100% correct" and, in fact, what this strong statement can mean.
Concerning the 3 affirmations from the AverMedia person, I thought I showed they were not convincing, to say the least (or were at least (to follow this puffy lingo) a few - what: 27, 36 - percent wrong?).
Concerning HP, what can these 100% be about?
The only thing I mentioned was that their moderator had, with a sententious comment, irrelevant at 100%,
edited my contribution to remove the AverMedia URL where one could find the free software I was querying about.
I suppose it's not about the fact that the moderator probably knew nothing of the AverMedia Tuner card in this HP TouchSmart Australian model.
I assume it cannot be about their irrelevant remarks (like 'start a new thread rather than interrupting a conversation' when I did just that..)
    So what's left?
I guess it must be that huffy puffy censorship dianebrat is 100% agreeing with (kudo to the great moderator!)..
"dude, really? you're going to get this upset and all huffy and puffy over this?" S/he asks..
Dude, no! But the essential is often in the detail..
