Avery project looks great on preview but PDF is skewed

I have tried browsers IE and Chrome and been on tech support with Avery for an hour and even uninstalled adobe.
the project looks great on preview but then when the PDF opens to print the spacing is messed up

How are you creating the pdf? If you are not using Acrobat or the CreatePDF service we can be of little help. If you use Acrobat, please post in that forum. If you use the CreatePDF service, please post there. If you are using an Avery Service, then you need to work it out with them.

  • My Imovie looks great on mac but it is discolored and grainy after I export to dvd.

My Imovie looks great on mac but it is discolored and grainy after I export to dvd. I need help, it looks awful when projected even playing from my mac.

It's my understanding based on what another long time contributor stated that Share to iDVD converts direct to a MPEG-2 format and drops it directly into the iDVD Project for you. Share to Media Browser saves it to .MP4 (actually .m4v which is what apple uses for iTunes video, etc) then that gets converted by iDVD into MPEG-2. So something about the export direct to MPEG-2 when you choose Share to iDVD is introducing the problem. That's why Share to Media Browser seems to get around that limitation, it uses a different encoding path altogether.

  • R6970 Lightning Crossfire looks great on DVI but it's whacked on HDMI...

I have an Asus Maximus Exteme IV MB with 2 6970's in Crossfire. I have two monitors. One is an older SyncMaster 910MP with a standard VGA input and a newer SymcMaster P2770HD. I have an HDMI going from card 1 to the P2770HD and a DVI cable with a VGA adapter going to the other.
The problem is that my picture on the older monitor is fantastic but the picture on the newer monitor is fuzzy and sort of looks over saturated by color. Text is not clear. Comparing the same video on each monitor shows blotching and uneven color tones while the older monitor is perfect.
    The older monitor is at 1280 x 1024 32 bit 60Hz
The new monitor is on (under the HDTV settings) 1080p
There are "basic" settings for the new monitor, but the highest it goes is 1680 x 1050. The new monitor was running at 1980 x 1080 on my last system which featured a 5770 and ran off the DVI port and it too looked great.
Am I missing a setting for my monitor to run at 1980 x 1080? How do I add it in? Why isn't the "HDTV" 1080p looking great coming out of the 6970 Lightning?
EDIT: I tried to use both DVI ports (on the same card) and only the primary monitor is recognized. What are the limitaions are requisites for connecting monitors to CrossFired cards?

I found a fix and it's the weirdest fix becasue I was just fiddling with my monitor and going into every single sub-menu and changing settings to see what effect they may have on my monitor.
On my Samsung HD monitor, I go into the "Source List" menu and I choose "Edit"
The naming convention on that menu is :
    PC                : ----
    DVI               : ----
    AV                : ----
    Component    : ----
    HDMI            : ----
These coincide with all the different inputs available on the Samsung P2770HD.
I went to the HDMI    : ---- selection and I was given a whole array of other choices; Camcorder,TV, IPTV, HD DVD, Blu-Ray, DVI, DVI PC, PC and a few others.
I changed it to PC and Viola! Perfect picture!
Now, my input reads "HDMI    PC"; where as before it read only "HDMI" with no dashes. You only see the dashes if you go into the "Edit" menu for the Source list.
Thanks for the very funky menu Samsung! Not to mention the manual for the monitor that says nothing about this!
I think what this does is tells the monitor to expect the standard RGB (0-255) colors from the PC.
Anyways, this worked for me. I hope this may be of some use to another person in the near future.

  • My HTML snippet widget on iWeb looks great on iWeb, but when I publish the page the HTML snippet doesn't appear on the webpage.  Why?

I pasted in some HTML code generated by Google Forms into the iWeb HTML snippet widget.  It looked great on my iWeb viewer, but when I published it to my website, the HTML snippet google form did not appear on my webpage.  Does anyone know how to fix this?

    What is the code?

  • FCP to Quicktime - looks great in QT but has drag on a TV

OK, have FCP 6 and everything going great. I had some files that were in AVI. I converted them using MPEG Streamclip to .mov format...so I thought. The first few did convert but then I wasn't watching and Streamclip set back to default and I accidentally converted some to "Apple JPEG A". I found this out later when I put it to DVD and there was drag (football highlight video) behind all the players running. Looked great on FCP and in Quicktime. BUT, when I dump to DVD and play on my TV the drag is there. The obvious solution is to take the AVI's that I messed up on and re convert them to mov. However, I broke the cardinal rule and dumped them. All clips look great, except the ones that went to JPEG A. I tried to reconvert them to mov but no effect. Any ideas....PLEASE? Why does it look good in QT but not on a TV?
    Bryan

Does the outputted QT file have it's High Quality bit set?
    if not:
    Open it in QT player
    command+j for the Movie Properties
select the video track and then click on the Visual Settings button
click High Quality button and save.

  • IDVD project plays perfectly in preview but when burned NO AUDIO.....

The iDVD (v 6.0.2 )project plays all video and menus/buttons perfectly in preview but when burned to NO AUDIO except on menus, none in the AUDIO TS folder, none on main video which has 11 chapters exported from FCP 5.0.4 as QT w/chapters.
Also the burned DVD has scrambled the links from the Scene selection menu to the correct video chapter.
I've checked all the media for 16 bit, etc.
WHY does it play fine on the simulator but screw up so badly when burned to disk.
any help would be appreciated, THANKS in advance

I had the same problem with my music not playing once I burned my iDVD's.
What I figured out, was that whenever I download music from iTunes, and try to use the music within my iDVD program, there's a little lock that appears in the iTunes file of the song I'm using. No one knows why...I spent hours on the phone with Apple trying to figure it out. So, the file is locked, and will play on my computer when I view my show, but will not play once burned, and I try to play it on the TV.
So, my work around is that every single song I purchase from iTunes...I have to burn onto a CD, and then burn back into my iTunes. That creates an unlocked file, and I am now able to use it.
I don't know if this is the same problem you are having...but it's a huge headache as I create these iDVD's a LOT for my business.
It basically stinks, and there's no fix - according to Apple...

  • Project looked great in Studio 1, looks pixillated in Studio 2... help

    Hi all,
Okay, I made stupid mistake number 001. I updated to Studio 2 in the middle of a project.... now the nearly completed edited video looks bad.
Rendered text sequences (from the old Motion), and regular video clips are heavily jaggy now. I have set the sequence parameters all the way up to Animation with no field preference and they still look jaggy. I can't figure it out...
    Any thoughts?

Thanks again Enzo, I have a high-end Sony presentation monitor connected to my system. It was on the NTSC monitor that I first noticed the problems. I don't pay too much attention to the canvas for quality.
When I export the movie to Quicktime, even with the Animation codec, I still see the problems. Note, that the problem does not exist in text pages and graphic treatments that I created IN the previous version of FCP. The problem seems to affect video clips and graphics that were created in Motion, Livetype, and Photoshop. Note again that these graphics looked great in the previous version of FCP....
I wonder if the new Studio is more picky about what kind of file is used to go between application?

  • Want Preview -- but PDFs keeping launching in Acrobat Pro 8

How do I make sure that whenever I launch a PDF -- whether by opening a PDF on my hard drive or when downloading a PDF in Safari or Firefox -- that it always launches Preview and NEVER launches Acrobat Pro 8. I've selected "Get Info" on a PDF file on my desktop, told it to Open with Preview and to "Use this Application to open all documents like this" but after doing so, other PDFs on my hard drive still open with Acrobat Pro. And I can't find anything in Safari's preferences to tell it to ignore Acrobat and use Preview. I will need to continue to use Acrobat Pro once in a while to edit PDFs, etc., but for everyday viewing of PDF files, Acrobat is slow, cluttered, and a real pain compared to Preview. (I'll also need to make sure that when I download an upgrade to Acrobat Pro, which I'll need to do eventually, that the Adobe app doesn't hi-jack things again.)

I think there are subtle differences in pdf versions, but the extension is the same.
So for the one you have changed, does it stay changed to Preview?
If there is a group of them made by Acrobat Pro, select the group and Command + i and after selecting Open with Preview, and Change All, that may make them stick with Preview.

  • Scrolling credits - look great on iMovie, but can't see in iDVD

I made an iMovie for a group I traveled with this summer, and everything is working great except for the rolling credits I created at the end. Instead of the black background with white credits, all I see is white. I can't see other posts with this same problem. Any suggestions?

I know it's more than a year later since this question was posted, but I don't see the answer to resolve the issue. Is there an answer? I've done what you posted here and nothing happened. I'm using iMovie 9.0.9.
I used iMovie 9.0.9 to make this and open in iMovie 9.0.9.
I've also tried to open the file in quicktime and other applications to no avail.
I finished the project and went to file/finalize project. It took about 30 minutes to render the file. Now the file ends in rcproject.
    Please help.

  • Midi loops sound great in preview - but completely different in track

I'm running Garageband 08 and have installed all the additional jam packs I purchased while using Garageband 2.
When previewing a loop in the browser - it sounds as it should, but when I drag it to create a new track, the sound/instrument changes completely.
I've checked the track settings and tried changing instruments, but the sound is never the instrument I choose. This is basically rendering Garageband useless for me and I'm wondering if I should go back to Garageband 2.
Any ideas as to what can be causing this? And how can I fix it.
    Thanks

I've cleared the preferences and repaired the permissions and still nothing.
Is there no way to repair the instrument library without reinstall?
does anyone have a clue as to why this has happened? - I am surprised I haven't seen this as a major issue.
Thanks to all and any who can help.

  • Looks ok in preview but not on web

I am using one of the templates for a basic html page using
    html4 and css
The template use a _notes directory.
I uploaded the html page to my public_html directory and
uploaded the _notes directory under public_html.
I uploaded it as binary and tried it again as axcii.
When I preview in the browser the text, etc looks like it did
    in the design window.
On the web it looses the text formating etc.
    What did I do wrong

    > I am using one of the templates for a basic html page

    >
    > The template use a _notes directory.
You can ignore the _notes directory.
    >
    > I uploaded the html page to my public_html directory and

    > directory under public_html.
did you upload the .css file?
please give the uploaded page url address if unsure.
    by the way-
You can open this site definition for editing, and in the
    Remote Server
Information, put public_html into the "Host Directory" line.
when done- the index file, or "homepage" should be at the top
    level of the
Local site folder and the remote. The expaned Files panel
    should show
mirror images when connected to the remote.

  • Imovie looks great on computer but

When burned to a dvd, there are momentary blips/shivers in some of the images. Any idea how to correct this, or what has caused it?
    Thanks,
    Chickie

Hmmm - I'd try stepping backwards through the video creation process to see where the blips are being introduced (assuming the video noise wasn't there in the original recording).
    1) Try the DVD in another player (is it always the same image that blips?).
    2) Within iDVD,use Preview to look for blips.
    3) Use Finder to open the iMovie "package" and find the Quicktime version of your movie to check it for blips (right click/Show Package Contents/Shared Movies/iDVD).
    4) Use the Full Screen mode in iMovie's preview mode to check for blips there.

  • Text looks great in AE but terrible in Premiere Pro.

I am creating titles in After Effects for a video production in Premiere Pro, the titles look lovely and crisp in After Effects but when I import them to Premiere Pro they look terrible and blurry. How can I get them to look as sharp as they did in After Effects?

Hi, I'm using Premiere Pro CC and AE CC and am using the Dynamic Link to import the AE files into Premiere.
The PP sequence is 2 hours long and was shot at 720, it is still in the editing stage so have not rendered the full thing yet. I did try to render out a small section to see if the text got sharper but it didn't, and to be very honest I'm not sure what the best render settings are so have been using the H.264 YouTube 720 preset.....perhaps that is not the best but I am new to this and am learning as I go.
I have tried making the AE file much bigger and then resizing in PP to see if that helped, but that didn't work either.
My apologies for not giving the required info at the outset.

  • PDF simple vectors look OK in Preview, distorted in Adobe Reader?

I am working on a document in Illustrator CS5 on Mac OS 10.5.8. The doc is meant to be viewed primarily through e-mail, possibly printed to a desktop printer.
I am replacing certain letterforms with vector objects – basically, I'm using simple rectangles to substitute for "I"s with unwanted serifs, in a small amount of headline text. When I Save As PDF, the resultant document looks great in Preview, but when viewed in Adobe Reader 10 (most likely what this will be viewed on at the receiving end), those uniform copy-pasted rectangles display ugly variations in height, width and alignment with the rest of the text. I have no idea why this is happening.
Further possibly relevant info: I have converted the rest of this headline text to outlines so as to apply an "Offset Path". The other text all stays very visually consistent between .ai and .pdf formats. It is only these makeshift "I"s that are distorted.
    Please advise!

Make at least one extra anchor point in each of those rectangles.

  • Project appears fine in preview, exporting is a total disaster.

My 5 minute project looks fine in preview, but when I export it, I get stuttering between 2 frames, and this is repeated intermitently throughout (same couple of frames).  If I switch to another project and export, that project uses some of the footage from the 5 minute thing I'm trying to finish.  Older projects (from before today) export okay.  The thing I did today was imported footage from a Sony camcorder that was AVCHD.  That's the only thing I can pin it on.  Moving that footage and the project it was associated with has not helped any.
Between other export issues (it often takes me several attempts, including restarting) and then re-fixing my TITLES, this software (coming from a complete novice) feels like a beta release.

I assume so (my expertise is more in sound than video, though I used to work alongside a video editor, so I'm not completely ignorant!). Though I'm not sure what you'd call the larger scale effect that looks like the image is being projected on slats. Anyway, here's screen grabs of 3 versions, the 2 newer one (after the re-importing) on the left. You'll notice that the lower image is still not exactly great. Again, all of this looks fine in the Viewer, before exporting.
Viewer appearances - that would be the Show Both Fields option? ... Ah yes, that looks bad. So what should I be doing about that? (Or where in the manual does it talk about that?)
Is that something I should have set on the camera? I notice there's no deInterleave option in the FCPX Share items - so how does someone who doesn't have compressor deal with this?
    Thanks for your help,
    David
