Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Now head into your Add or Remove programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click Repair.
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post (although it's for Vista and 7, just read "Computer" as "My Computer", read "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove programs control panel" and assume the system is 32-bit, and you'll be doing the right things):

  • After installing update itune 10.5 will not open or run on windows 7 pc keeps telling me error 7 126 and that AVFoundationCF.dll failed to load. reinstall.I have done the complete 6part unistall 10 times now and each time I get the same thing anyone have

So I installed the latest update of Itune on my Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit PC.( the previous versions worked fine never a problem)
It installs, and comes up with error7 126. Reinstall program again.
So I go through all six steps to unistall, and reinstall a frsh downloaded compy of 64 bit Itune from Apple Site. and reinstall again and again, went through this process 10 times still having same problem, including now also comes up with AVFoundationCF.dll missing, try to install that won't install.
So now I can not use anything apple, iteunes, safari, update etc, nothing will work, which means I can no lobger sync or update my Iphone 4S.
Does anyone have an answer for me????

I'm an applications developer and also run a part-time videography business. As such, I require more than 3.12GB of RAM. That is the physical limitation of a 32bit system. Pointless to stay on 32bit if you plan on having more than that much RAM.
I'm also not about to pay someone to fix my PC when I can do it myself. I was originally hoping for someone who had experienced the problem before to point me in the right direction so I didn't have to spend so much time trying to figure out what the issue was for myself.
Basically, in the end the problem was caused because right at the point in time when I chose to uninstall, and reinstall; Apple released a new version of iTunes. This version in turn had a requirement of iOS 4.2 to sync with the iPhone. This is a pretty embarrassing for Apple that they would release software reliant on other software before said software was released.
Had I realised I was downloading a newer version at the initial point of installation, this wouldn't have been an issue. I could've easily have rolled back iTunes to the previous version and gotten on with my life.
Another issue is that iTunes is not actually a 64 bit application. It masquerades as one to allow installation on the 64 bit platform.

  • While running an update in Itunes i received an error message - Unable to locate component because AVFoundationCF.dll was not found. Then Itunes was not installed correctly. Error 7 (windows error 126) Do I have to reinstall and will I loose all my music?

While running an update in itunes (not installing), it stopped in the middle of the update and i receceived the following messages:
Application failed to start because AVFoundationCF.dll was not found. Reinstalling itunes may fix the problem. Then "itunes was installed incorrectly. Please reinstall itunes Error 7 (Windows error 126)".  If i uninstall and reinstall itunes will I lose all of my music, etc.?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall press on)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

In the normal course of events, an uninstall/reinstall doesn't touch your content files. (That being said, it's always a good idea to have a backup in case of disasters.)

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • How do i fix itunes, AVFoundationCF.dll missing (error 7, windows error 126)

I tried to update itunes to 10.5 but wouldn't install. I then tried to uninstall and reinstall and have had problems ever since. I tried removing every apple file on my computer( itunes, bonjour, etc..) with REVO uninstall. Then reinstalling to no avail, I receive AVFoundationCF.dll is missing follwed by error 7 windows error 126. I have been at this all day, and has really gotten me frustrated. I have searched through these forums and tried different solutions people say have worked for them but not for me. My last resort is to wipe my system and restore to factory settings, which I dont want to do. Can anyone offer some advice? Thanks

I just found out why it was throwing out those error, you have to do a complete cleaning of your cache, it retains all the Apple information for some reason. I used a cache cleaner, but you van use the cache cleaner in Windows 7 or Vista 64 bit for this. Now Itune downloaded but without installing Quicktime. I actually like that.

  • Avfoundationcf.dll "Not Found" [FIX]

I discovered how to fix the problem of  "avfoundationcf.dll Not Found" in windows xp 32 bit
You just need to Uninstall and Re-Install the 'AppleApplicationSupport"
Just go to this directory "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple\Installer Cache\" and chose the directory "AppleApplicationSupport" with the higher version, my directory is "AppleApplicationSupport 2.1.6" Inside of this directory just run "AppleApplicationSupport.msi" and chose "Remove" when it finish run this file again and chose "Install"
    It worked for me
    Hope it help :]

This procedure might work or might not work:
Download the free Ccleaner and repair your Registry (repeat until clear)

Uninstall iTunes according to Apple's directions here

  • AVFoundationCF.dll not found? + Error 7 (Windows error 126)

About a week ago, I decided to upgrade to the newest version of iTunes. Upon trying to install the new version, it said it could not download as there was an error with quicktime. I then uninstallled and downloaded the newest version of Quicktime. The error message went away, however, now I am faced with this meassage everytime I attempt to install:
"An error occured during the assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4053"type="win32",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3 b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="x86" Please Refer to Help and Support for more information HRESULT: 0x80073712
Then iTunes goes into "rolling back action" and 'completes' the install.
upon opening itunes, i get an error message saying that windows error 126 has occured or error 7, and that i should reinstall itunes. except i've done this six times now, so it clearly doesn't help.
supposedly the component AVFoundationCF.dll is not found, and the solution to that is REINSTALL, again, that doens't work.
    What can I do?

Had this problem when I tried to upgrade. I eventually uninstalled all iTunes v9 related products (iTunes, Quicktime, Apple Application Support and Apple Software Update). Then I tried a fresh install of the v10.1x setup. I get the following:
Pop up#1 (iTunes.exe - Unable to Locate Component):
This application has failed to start because AVFoundationCF.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
    Pop up#2 (iTunes):
iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes.
    Error 7 (Windows error 126)
Since I'm on XP SP3 Home Edition, I can't install the System Readiness Tool (only for Vista, 7 and Server 2008, etc.).
So I gave up and unintalled all Apple products (iTunes, Quicktime, AAS, AMDS, ASU). I then went back to an iTunes 9.0.2 installsetup.exe I have. Installed "successfully" and now when I launch iTunes I get the following error pop up:
    Pop up#3:
The file "iTunes Library.itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes.
What can be done now? I'd like to be on the current version, but I can't get around the first 2 pop ups with the methods I've seen posted here.

Had the same problem and this worked for me.
This is for Windows XP and may work for others but I don't know for sure.
I checked my Apple Application Support version under the Add Remove programs and it was 1.3.2
    I uninstalled it.
I used WinRar to unpack the iTunesSetup.exe then I installed the AppleApplicationSupport.msi file.
    Everything work after that.
