Avi files not burning to DVD

I have been exporting windows avi files from premiere cs3 to the desktop, then importing them as either assests or timelines in encore cs3. It plays fine when i preview it, but when i try to burn it to DVD, once it has finished 'transcoding', and begins to write the DVD, without fail, it finds an error in one of the timelines and stops. It says 'internal software error, line (something)'. Anyway, i keep having to go back to encore cs2 as i cant get cs3 to burn to a dvd.
If anyone can help me out at all, or has any ideas it would be much appreciated.
Cheers!

You do NOT want a high burn speed... higher speed = more chance for errors
To Burn Error Proof DVDs (Well, close to error proof!)
Use the SLOWEST possible burn option your burner will allow in Encore, since it is much better to take a bit more time burning the disc than it is to burn "fast" and have a disc that won't play
Set the VIDEO portion of the transcoding options to a Maximum of 7,000 so your burned disc will have a better chance at playing in desktop players (which support burned discs, if at all, only as an "after thought" of the DVD specification)
Use AC3 or PCM audio transcode settings for best player compatibility (some discussion of MPEG audio not being supported by all players, especially for NTSC discs)
Buy and use Taiyo Yuden (or Verbatim?) brand blank discs

  • MPEG streamclip compression types - converting into avi files to burn into DVDs later. HELP!!!!

I've made a movie on my iMovie '08 and export it and now I want to convert it to avi because I want to burn it into DVDs. I didn't use the 'export using quicktime' option on iMovie because there's this error occuring (error code = -43) and I don't know why! Anyhow, I'm using MPEG streamclip, and I'm so confused with the compression windows? What should I choose if I want the DVDs to be played on TV? Apple Photo - JPEG doesn't sound right. And the frame size thingy too. I also dragged the quality into 100% so that it would turn out good. PLEASE HELP ME! I really don't understand technical stuff like this Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • DVD is Not Burning in DVD Studio Pro

DVD is Not Burning in DVD Studio Pro 4.2.0

I used build and format approach. Both discs play fine on computer platforms, but not on a consumer DVD connected to the TV. Normally I have no problem. I checked and rechecked several times all the preferences for Studio Pro. The only thing I noticed was instead of generating a Video and Audio TS file, it generated one HVDVD_TS file. Is this the issue? If so,where do I correct this (in the settings)?
    Thanks

  • .AVI files not showng when RAW Only selected at import time

    Hi board,
When I am looking at my SD card from my Nikon D90 in the Import view of Aperture I have the 'Raw Only' option selected for the RAW+JPEG Pairs setting. This results in .AVI files not showing up in the browser. Meaning that when I believed I was importing all my photos in RAW and my movies, my movies were actually not even considered for importing. I realize (now) that RAW Only quite litteraly means RAW Only, but why do I have to select Both when importing to get my movies? Then I would have to weed out any eventual JPEGs that I might have taken but do not want to import.
I'm simply curious why .AVI are excluded together with .JPEGs. I did not consider this to be intuitive or clear to the user (since the setting is called RAW+JPEG Pairs, not mentioning that it could possibly exclude movies).
    Thanks!

Same here, with Aperture 3.2.2, OS 10.7.2
That definitely seems to be a bug to me; if either "JPEG only" or "RAW files only" is selected, the File Types selector is ignored, and no audio or video media are available in the import panel.

  • AVI Files not importing into CS4 from DVD

I have the DVD disk for Premiere Pro CS4 Classroom In A Book and all the avi files have only sound and when imported into Premiere Pro CS4 a missing codec error warning appears and the file will not import.
I have to say this problem only occurs with my 27" iMac and not at all with a MacBook Pro or a 20" iMac. I have tried repeatedly to copy the DVD to the 27" iMac but the problem still persists.
*+Now this is the really weird bit+:*
Using Screen Sharing from another mac, the files are normal. All other avi files are also normal on the 27" iMac.
I wondered if anyone can throw any light on this problem?

I tried a different converter and also changed the playback preferences -which was down at 44.1kHz- up to 96kHz as I know the hi res files are supposed to be up at this level.
Not sure if it was one or the other of your suggestions, or both, but it has worked, so many thanks for your quick and effective help!

  • Convert AVI movie files for burning to DVD ..

QuickTime Pro or MPEG Streamclip can convert them. Some AVIs require that Perian be installed, while others can't be converted in Mac OS X through any means; AVI is a container, not a format.

  • IDVD says 'supported disk no available,' does not burn too DVD!?

I have an Apple Imac G4 10.4.11, with iDVD 5. I have a 1 hour 20 minute 'AVI file on my computer that I want to burn to a DVD. I clicked 'Open New Project' on iDVD, then clicked 'File' and 'Import Video' and added my 'AVI file. I put in the disk ands started the burn. It took hours and hours then it ended and DVD Player popped up and a message came up on iDVD saying 'Supported Disc Needed,' but it accepted this disc, it is a DVD RW disk. How do I fix this?

    Hi
There are several things to this.
A .avi is a container that can carry several different codecs - most often not working with iDVD - but need's to be converted to something iDVD likes as streamingDV, .H264 or AIC (last two I think)
    • MPEG Streamclip
    • QuickTime with Pro activated
    • Flip4Mac - There is a free demo - to test and see if it works - usually does
    B. Mac and iDVD are picky regarding DVDs used. Memorex and Cheap brands usually gives problems.
DVD-RW so to a Problem maker
I use only DVD-R from Verbatim.
    C. A DVD can be burned into two types. Data-DVD and Video-DVD. To get an Video-DVD one has to wait to insert the DVD until iDVD asks for it (or burn it via Apple Disk Util tool from a DiskImage). If inserted too soon - Mac OS will ask You to Format or Eject it. If formatted You've got a Data-DVD.

  • Playing .AVI files in a regular DVD player

I have some .AVI files that I would love to be able to watch on my DVD player that is hooked up to my TV. Can I use Quicktime to convert the files to a suitable format? If so, how exactly would I go about doing this?

The only avi files I have heard about that play on some DVD players are Divx avi files. I am not aware of any player that will play quicktime files as such.
Many DVD settop boxes will play VCD or SVCD disks (mpeg files burned in a unique format onto CD disks). QT cannot natively create or burn them but there are commercial programs like Toast Titanium that will do so. Check your DVD manual to see if it will play such files. You may be able to use this freeware to convert the avi files to a format such as DVStream that the CD burning sofware can use: Mpeg StreamClip. Alternately you could use Quicktime Pro ($30 from Apple) to make DVStream files for the VCD burner from the avi files. Be aware that all this transcoding may reduce the videoquality to unwatchable levels.

  • Drag and drop files for burn to DVD takes FOREVER

When I drag and drop files onto the blank DVD icon, the ghosts of said files just hang there for the longest time, and I get a spinny beach ball. Many, many minutes later things finally return to normal and I can proceed with burning the DVD. It's just copying some aliases, right? It didn't used to take more than a couple of seconds before I upgarded to Mavericks. So what the **** is taking so long now?
PBP 2.66 Core 2 Duo, running 10.9.1, burning to a Samsung Portable DVD Writer Model SE-218

Thanks for the reply.  If I reformat the drive will I be able to access the files on it from the MAC.  I do not share the drive with a PC.  The files were originally created on a PC which I no longer use.  I do want to continue to access the files put there by the PC.  I would like to not have to copy them over to the MAC hard drive just to use them.  The second aux drive is new and works fine because it was formatted by the MAC.  I can drag and drop files there and work with just as if they were on the internal drive.

  • Can not Burn CD/DVD after update to 10.6.7

Since I have updated to 10.6.7 from 10.6.6, I can't burn a DVD or CD in the Super drive. I switched back to 10.6.6 and everything worked, switching back to 10.6.7, no burning can happen. The burn file locks and would not allow the lock to be removed from the "Get Info" in the file sec. Any solution? please help

Downloaded the Combo Update (other than the one intended for 'early 2011 MBP', and it will not run on this computer. Says something like it is not authorized, or not intended for this computer. Did re-run the update for 'early 2011 MBPs' same result. Was able to solve the font display issue, but not the incorrect icon issue, and FaceTime will not run at all. Says it is not designed for the OS I have on this computer, and will not even start. I have tried to go to the AppStore, just to see if I can download the latest version - no dice. Won't let me download it. Says FT already installed on this computer. Tried deleting FT, and then downloading - same message. ?????

  • Idvd 08  shuts down after building, idvd will not burn a dvd

Dvd studio pro burns fine, Burning a DVD data disk works fine. Burning a project in Idvd 08 will not burn anything. It simply quits before finishing and spits out an empty dvd disk. I have a imac g5 power pc 2.1 ghz, 500gb hd, 2.5 gb ram and I am running idvd 08 version 7.0. I have tried reinstalling idvd and have even repaired permissions. What do I do? What could it be?

    Hi
*Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows.*
    • *Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb*
    • Hard disk is untidy. Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
    • Delete iDVD pref file - *or rather start a new user/account* - log into this and re-try
iDVD pref file resides. Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences and is named.
    com.apple.iDVD.plist
While iDVD is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
    Now restart iDVD.
    • Program miss-match. iDVD 5.0.2, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK - DON’T work under Leopard
    • Program miss-match. iDVD 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
    • Program miss-match. iDVD’08 v. 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
    • iDVD (08) v7 Locate theme folder. Move out iDVD1, iDVD 2 and eventually iDVD4 folders to desktop - re-try
    • Try a Cleaning CD/DVD that cleans the laser lens on the DVD burner/player
iDVD 6.0.4 and iDVD 7.0.1 are compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard
Last resort. from Craig. Solved the problem!! Finally!!
I deleted every iDVD application and folder from my boot drive,
emptied the trash and then installed iDVD 08 using the customize option
and I am up and running.
If You do a re-install be sure to get rid of all iDVD old parts AND then EMPTY the Trash-basket !
    iDVD updated ?
    Apple Codec updated ?
Start a New Clean project - or delete project assets

  • Why do some AVI files not import into iMovie?

Some of my AVI video does not import into iMovie. When I try, it gives me a non-specific error message. Is there a way I can import it? Other AVI files import with no problem.

AVI is a container, not a format; the audio and video in an AVI may use any codec, and some codecs can't be used in Mac OS X. Installing Perian may help.

  • Since 10.4.4 (10.4.5) - i can not burn Data-DVDs anymore...

    System: iMac G4, 1GHz, 1GB RAM, Mac OS X 10.4.5, 4x SuperDrive (SONY DVD RW DW-U10A)
    Dear Apple Support,
since Mac OS X 10.4.4 (same with 10.4.5) i can not burn a Data DVD-RW anymore. It is so annoying. I want to burn my backup on a DVD-RW with the Burn Folders in Mac OS X. it is not possible.
The Finder burn dialog hangs at the "ending burning process". It is so annoying.
It's not possible to erase this "half burned" DVD-RW too! So I have here a lot of destroyed DVD-RWs around me...
The burning of DVD-RWs is a problem since 10.4.0 here on my machine. With 10.4.3 it was half o.k. ... But since 10.4.4 (10.4.5) nothing works anymore.
Your product "Mac OS X Tiger" is nearly one year in the market. And burning a Data-DVD is not a exotical thing. It is a essential feature of a Operating System today. So what are you doing in your Test-Labs?
I am sitting here since 1 year with an Operating System from Apple an it doesn't works in the essential features.
Whats about your slogan "It just works"?
What happens with the quality of Apple?
Under 10.3.9 Panther i can burn everything. It absolutly no problem there.
So i don't understand what are you doing with Tiger?
    It's so annoying!
    Regards
    Roessner
