  • How can i export a 24bit avi file from photoshop for mac?

how can i export a 24bit avi file from photoshop for mac? i have a client that specificly needs the files to be avi and in 24bit what are the settings that i need to use to export the video using photoshop on a mac?

    Hello,
To make a 24-bit AVI file in Photoshop, go to File>Export>Render Video. Then, under File Options, choose AVI from the Quicktime Export drop-down menu. Click the Settings button. Click the Settings button in the AVI Settings window. Change Compression to None, and then choose "Millions of Colors" from the Depth drop-down under Compression.
The Millions of Colors option is for 24-bit video (8-bit R+G+B channels, 8x3=24). Millions of Colors+ is for 32-bit video (24-bit video plus an 8-bit alpha channel).

  • Pro cs3 not importing audio in avi files

ok it seems for some reason that my cs 3 is not importing audio in my avi files the video channel imports but no audio  anyone know a reason why this is please

AVI is but a "wrapper." This ARTICLE will give you much more background, plus direct you on finding out what is inside that wrapper.
It might be as simple as a setting change, but conversion will likely be the path to take.
Good luck, and let us know what G-Spot (in the article) tells you about that/those file(s).

  • Avi files in Quicktime and finder

My machine (finder & Quicktime Pro 7) no longer recognises any of my avi files. I recently made system updates to Safari(3.1.1) and Quicktime (7.4.5), plus the usual automatic security updates, but I can't say for sure when the problem occurred within the last 2 weeks, as they were all fine until then. I have also updated Perian (1.1)and have DivX and Flip4Mac codecs installed.
I can play them through VLC, but not through Quicktime or in the finder
Any help would be much appreciated

Yes quicktime player will no longer play the files and what I mean by "playing in the finder" Is that previously when in column view, I could single click on an avi file which would give me a small preview version which could be played directly in the finder window, the same way you can play an mp3 file in the finder without double clicking it and opening itunes.
Again, this only works in column view. It seems to me that whatever it is preventing the finder recognising the files is the same thing preventing quicktime player from playing them as they must both use the same elements.

  • Importing *.avi files created in Audition 1.5

Any of you Adobe boffins taking notice here? Hope so, cos here's a job for you.
Get any *.avi file you like, then load it into Audition (any version, doesn't matter, I've tried this with all of them)
If you are, in fact, lucky enough to get Audition to open the file you've chosen, muck around as much as you want with the audio stream, then export the entire Multisession as an avi, with mp3 audio codec. What I've essentially done here is recreate the audio stream as a 192kbps 48000Hz 32bit mp3, and interleaved it back into the video.
Next, try to get that to import into Soundbooth CS4, or Premiere CS4, or Adobe Media Encoder CS4. I've had nothing short of a pain in the *** to get it to work. It just keeps coming up with, "Unsupported audio rate in file".
Now, remember what I've done. I created this file using Adobe Audition 1.5, and now your super duper mega-expensive piece of **** Soundbooth won't let me work with it, and the other video-editor/creator programs in this 'suite' won't work with the file either!
I've been working with this type of software since the days of Syntrillium's Cool Edit - the program you used as the base for Audition. I've also been remixing music as a DJ for over 20 years, doing video editing for almost 15 years, plus I'm not exactly running a piece of **** machine here. I have all the latest codecs and Windows Updates installed. With that in mind, I will be offended at any such lack of respect, like the, "Have you tried, (Basic no0b-level ******** thing to do)" that you self-proclaimed 'tech-heads' usually reply with. This 'Creative Suite 4 Master Collection' of applications has just cost me $5000, so you can believe my disappointment that it doesn't work!
    System specs:
    Gigabyte GA-X38-DQ6 motherboard
    Intel E6850 Core2Duo CPU @ 3.2GHz
    4096MB Corsair Dominator PC2-8500 RAM
Twin ASUS EAH2900XT VGA cards (in Crossfire)
Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty Pro sound card
Twin Seagate Barracuda 500GB SATA-II hard drives in RAID(0)
    Operating systems (dual-boot): Windows Xp Professional X64 SP2 / Vista Ultimate X64 SP1
CS4 Suite installed on Xp X64 SP2, with all latest updates/codec packs, etc. fully installed and activated.

Now, make sure you read and understand
    i everything
    I've written in this reply.
(quote)"AVI is a very, um, "open" format, and heavily dependent on the OS (in your case Windows). "(endquote)
Tell me the truth. You're an American fresh-out-of-college no0b fuckwit, with no 'hands-on' experience at all. (actually, the 'hands-on' experience you
    i do
have is limited to your hands on your dick! For you to send a reply such as the one you have to me, it shows you obviously haven't taken note of my system specs, nor my level of experience with both computers in general and audio/video encoding.
If the correct codecs are installed, it then becomes heavily dependent on the
    i software
and whether it has the capability to 'read' the file. Thing is, even after exporting an 'uncompressed' *.avi, Soundbooth CS4 keeps coming up with, "Unsupported audio rate in file." Remember, this is a 'fully-fledged' install, straight from the DVD discs in the package box, and fully registered with all the Soundbooth CS4-specific codecs it puts in post-registration.
You ask what codecs were used in creating the file that Soundbooth won't open. NONE, you fucken idiot! Uncompressed means exactly that - NO FUCKEN CODEC COMPRESSION! This has happened
    i after
processing the *.avi through VirtualDub, the most widely used
    i codec-independent
program on the planet for uncompressing *avi's, irrespective of what codec has been used to
    i create
    the interleave.
What part of my message, "I've also been remixing music as a DJ for over 20 years, doing video editing for almost 15 years, plus I'm not exactly running a piece of **** machine here. I have all the latest codecs and Windows Updates installed" didn't you understand? I actually
    i re-write
my own versions of Windows, you fucken goose - that's from Windows '95 right up to Vista 64 Ultimate! Maybe you also didn't read the part of my message where I said, "I will be offended at any such lack of respect, like the, "Have you tried, (Basic no0b-level ******** thing to do)" that you self-proclaimed 'tech-heads' usually reply with"
When I say the program doesn't work, I fucken mean it! I'm 40 years old, mate, and haven't got time to be treated like a dumb ****! I've just spend FIVE FUCKEN
    i GRAND
on this software, based on what Adobe has told me about its' capabilities, and when it's not working due to you fuckwit tech-heads not getting it right for an operating system that's over SIX YEARS OLD now, you can expect blokes like me to go off their nut when you treat us like schoolkids!
(quote)"Auditions MP3 exporter, when working with AVI, does not allow 48k sample rate nor does it allow 32 bit sample depth."(endquote)
Well that's just fucken stupid, isn't it? When the program encodes and resamples audio at those bitrates, it won't export it? Honestly, grow a fucken brain and realise how dumb that statement actually is! There are a number of other audio/video editing programs that DO open, render and re-encode at these bitrates. Every other program I use for encoding *.avi's allows me open and work with the files that Soundbooth CS4
    i won't
open on the same OS, namely NeroVision 4 (for DVD-authoring) and other encoding software such as Cucusoft and ConvertX-To-DVD. Even your own program, Audition 1.5, has no problem in splitting 'movie.avi' into audio and video streams - both of which are fully viewable in the multisession.
Soundbooth CS4 is a ****-up, mate, plain and simple. Get a patch out that allows this piece of **** to open an ordinary everyday uncompressed *.avi file, or I want every cent of my money back!

So true. I insall Perian, Flip4Mac (because they work so well with Quicktime) and always have MPEG Streamclip on hand and anything I can't play now, well I really don't worry about. Have never tried MPlayerX but looks like it may be worth a punt.

  • AVI Files over 00:01:30 are truncated.

I'm trying to import some converted GoPro AVI files that come in at about 00:08:52 each.  When I import them Premiere truncates the files at about 1 minute 30 seconds.
No where can I find the max supported AVI file size.  But I'd like to know.  There's some processing I can only do in GoPro studio, plus working with the uncompressed AVI is way faster.

  • AVI files crash Premiere?

    Hi
I keep having this problem, with both PE 3 and PE 8.
If I create an AVI file in Smith Micro, Poser with sound on it, it crashes either version of Elements that I have.
It will open files that don't have sound but I need to bring them in together because it is lip synced.
I have to load the files into Windows Movie Maker and then export them as something other then AVI, then they will load in PE 8 with no problems.
The problem with doing this is that the files have to be exported from Windows Movie Maker at a lower resolution then I would like. since as far as I can see the export options in Movie Maker are somewhat limited.
I have tried just converting the files in Any AVI Converter but when I do that it screws up the lip sync.  That's another issue that I will address on their forum.
I can only export video from Poser as flash or AVI so I don't have any other options there.
Any suggestions welcome.  Perhaps even another way to convert the files to something that PE likes. LOL
    Mike

    Mike,
Glad that you have found the ideal workflow. Sometimes one does need to think about a problem in a different way.
Have not used Poser in years, and mine is probably decades behind yours, so I do not know what the current possibilities might/might not be. For many operations, I deal exclusively in elemental streams, i.e. one Video-only and one Audio-only file. With those, I can do so very much, such as Import perfectly into Encore to author a DVD with never an error, crash or glitch. In my case, one of the reasons for this is that I do DD 5.1 SS, and that does not mux well, plus for a lot of what I do, I'd just have to de-mux it anyway.
If Poser allows you to Export just the Audio stream, that would save you one step and a couple of Alt-clicks, etc. OTOH, it might not allow that, as it is basically designed for the visuals, with Audio being secondary. Just the opposite of Adobe Audition, which is an Audio editor, that will also display Video, if necessary.
As for my age - you could well be younger... most people are...
Regarding the beard, even when I was about 18 and grew my first one, I had a gray patch on the chin. Over the decades, the red rather faded away, and that patch expanded to where it covered my entire face. I guess that the patch was a bit of a preview of things to come. Once, I looked more like a Viking, but now I look more like the troll under the bridge - the one that scares the kids!
    Good luck, and happy editing,

  • No sound recording avi files using Camileo S20

    Hi all
I got the s20 on thursday and it has been a nightmare. Before the sound went i couldn't get the video files to work in Movie Edit Pro or sony vegas.
It didn't even work in the Arcsoft software that came with it.
I have tried it on three differant computers and it keeps showing up with no audio.
I have tried all the codecs you can think of and none of them worked. Now i cant hear any sound even when i play it back on the S20.
I dont really now what to do. I have two other hd camcorders and they work fine on my computer.
I have had to re-format my computer as the codecs had messed it up. If i had my way i would send it back and be done with it but i have to wait until tomorrow before i can contact this number which i have been given.
What i want to know is:
Is there any way i can get the avi files to work in sony vegas and movie edit pro 15 plus?
Any help or advise would be welcome.
    thanks
    regards
    Chrisc74

    >Is there any way i can get the avi files to work in sony vegas and movie edit pro 15
As far as I know the S20 creates the h264 encoded videos.
This means that you need the H264 codex in order to get video and sound on your notebook.
I cannot say anything about the sony vegas or movie edit pro software because I dont use it.
But I edited my videos using the common widows movie maker and everything was ok.

  • AVI files aren't displaying video in Premiere cs5, audio only.

I've tried encoding/converting the like another user suggested in this thread
    Download and install VLC.
In the folder containing your AVI files, create a new text document called "avi2mp4.bat" (without the quote marks). Be sure it has the .BAT extension; you'll have to remove the .TXT extension that is added by default.
Paste the following into the batch file and save it:@ECHO OFF for %%a in (*.avi) do "C:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc" -I dummy "%%a" --sout=#:file{dst="%%~na".mp4} vlc://quit
To run the batch, simply double-click it, or you can drag and drop AVI files onto it, and they will be rewrapped as MP4s with the same filename as the original. If you use the drag and drop approach, you can save this file anywhere on your hard drive, and any files dropped onto it will be converted and placed in the same folder as the original.
That's it. The MP4s will import correctly into Premiere, and you won't be doing any transcoding."

  • Where do AVI files transferred by Airdrop to an iPhone go?

I've just copied a couple of videos across (I'm using the Yosemite beta and iOS 8 on an iPhone 6 Plus). The MP4 file goes into the Photos app, but the AVI files seemingly completed the transfer but then can't be found. Are they still on the phone? If so, where are they and how would I access them? I've looked in the Videos app and I've also got an app called PlayerXtreme that is supposed to play the file type, but it's not in either app.

Same way it works with any computer...when you delete something, the data isn't actually deleted, just the pointers to the data. As you use your device, the data gets overwritten, since the iOS views it as "free" space..
If you want the data truly gone, you need to erase your phone. Same way it works on any computer.

  • How do I export to AVI. file and make the size smaller?

Looking to export a film as a AVI file and alter the size and quality.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
you can use QT or FCP>Export> QT movie conversion but I like using Compressor.
In Compressor settings tab there's a button with a plus icon on the top right corner. Click it and in the popdown menu choose Quicktime Export Components.
You've just created a new untitled setting. It sits at the bottom of the settings in the untitled folder.
Drag and drop it onto your movie file just imported in Compressor. Double click it and/or see it in the inspector window. Give it a name and in the encoder type choose AVI.
Now (still in in the inspector window) if you click Options button below you can change a number of settings. Remember, the higher the bit rate the better the video will look but greater wil be the size of the video.
Do some tests to find best settings.
An example to use just as reference:
a 3GB DVCPRO HD video becomes 400MB AVI at 1000kbyts
    Hope that helps,
    G.
