AVI GIF in Photoshop CS5
So I've been trying to make some .GIF files from a couple of Youtube videos I've downloaded since I got Photoshop CS5 Extended yesterday. Not whole videos of course, brief, 3 second clips of them.
However, when I go to File > Import > Video Frames to Layers and select the video, all I get is about 80 white layers. Nothing on them, just white. This happened once when I had Photoshop CS3 as well, but I wasn't as bothered then. This is going to really bug me, though.
How do I fix this so actual images are imported, not just these white layers?
The videos are downloaded in AVI format, by the way.

I can't open .avi files in Photoshop CS5

I want to have my website and phone number rotating on the x-axis as an animated GIF. Is there a simple way to do this in Photoshop that I'm just missing?
I'd like to be able to insert the GIF in a movie project I've started in Sony Vegas.

Virginia Bankruptcy LawyerDupe the layer transforming it with a little rotation. Keep repeating this transform and dupe I think the scortcut Ctrl+Alt+shift+T will do that. then use f11 to open the animation palette use its fly-out menu item make frames from layers and the save a animated gif using save for web and devices.

it's really annoying , i imported a video (mp4) from a movie and it looked like this , the frames are only two , one of them is white and the other one is black .
i searched a lot about this problem but no one seems to have it but me !I don't have the time to watch a video tutorial just to try to understand the context of your issue, but I'll offer this bit of wisdom...

Why can't I save my GIF in Photoshop CS5?
When I click 'Save for Web and Devices' the window pops up and it starts to load. But then the image goes red. If I click save it says I don't have enough memory to save the image or Photoshop just forces closed. Please help me fix this! What is going on?!
We need to know the exact source of the file and what system you're on. Could simply be an unresolvable compatibility issue/ unsupported format.

Photoshop CS5, animated gif, how to add url to 1 frame.
I have created an animated gif in Photoshop CS5 and want to embed a url to one of the 3 frames.
How do I do this?
I've read that I can use the slice tool to do this (?), but if so, I need help in laymans language as to how to do this.
The animated gif is for a website on a wordpress platform. When this particular frame is clicked, it should link to the url which I want to add.

on my 2009 macbook i have photoshop cs5 which allows me to make gifs by importing frames to layers on avi files only. now i have put cs5 onto my new macbook pro which does not allow mp4 or anything else, but when you select the avi files no video comes up it is just blank and on some files you can hear a distorted sound from the video if you click the play button. does anyone know why this is? is it to do with quicktime on the new macbook pro not supporting avi? why does everything always change this is so frustrating, what is the point of this laptop if i cant even do the basic stuff i was doing on my old (but slow) macbook? $2000 just to use the internet is not worth it, thinking of returning if i cant fix it. any help would be great!

Sounds like your new computer is missing a few codecs for quicktime which your other computer had. Funny it is not allowing mp4 files, since that is an apple format for the h.264 codec.
BTW if it is not clear, photoshop uses quicktime for its video import/export routines. -
Creating animated gif's in Photoshop CS5
I have created identical images in both Photoshop & .gif versions and can't get any of them to work
The images are saved in an 8 bit format. There are 8 layers. the largest version is 761px 760px.
When I get the dialog box for "save for web," no matter which version of the images I try, the animation choices are greyed out. I do not see a check box for "animate" like there is in my Elements 10 dialog box on another system. What do need to do to be able to save as an animation?You need to ensure it's an animation in Photoshop's eyes.
An animated document is generally maintained with the frames in separate layers. For example, if you open an animated GIF, it may open each frame into a layer.
Make the Timeline panel visible (Window - Timeline).
If the animation doesn't show there, you may need to click the fly-out menu icon at the upper-right corner of the Timeline panel and choose Make Frames from Layers.

Edit: Sorry, you said Photoshop CS5. In that version it's the Animation panel. Same panel, but renamed in Photoshop CS6 to Timeline. -
Photoshop cs5 messes up the order of frames in a gif after importing video frames?
after recording a video with vlc media player, i save as mp4, then open it in photoshop cs5 with Import>Video Frames to Layers...
The order of the frames are messed up so when played it looks jerky. I played the mp4 file and it's fine. Here is an example in gif form:
help please??I Think the problem is the you dropped too many frame out and the frame you kept are being played to quickly. Animated GIF file sizes are huge compared to video file formats and the color is much poorer then video. However Browsers animate them automatically and the can be used in links href.
I downloaded your gif and it looked like you started with a 1080p video. You re-size it from 1920 wide to 400 pixels wide and to make a small animated gif file size you dropped out too many frames. You file is still 2.3MB. I wanted to get some idea of what could be done. How much 1080p mp4 re-sized to 400px wide would fit into a 2.3MB mp4 file and if saved as an animated gif how big would it be and what would the quality be. Seems like only 5 seconds fits . Here is what I saw.

I have installed Photoshop CS5 Extended on my laptop. I know it's outdated but CC does not run well on my laptop. I have a 2Ghz Dual-Core processor with a 3 GB Ram. I have a Intel 965/963 Graphics Media Accelerator. I know it's not good but it meets all the requirements for CS5 3D. It has OpenGL 2.0, Shader Model 4.0 and 384 MB Ram.

Photoshop cs5 is not appending file extensions
in previous versions, photoshop appended to the file extension in the fiel save/save as dialog box. it no longer does this and when you save a file it does not append the file extension to the file name, resulting in unknown fiel type.
i am running windows 7 64-bit with photoshp cs5.
it does not make any since to have the option of appending the file extension if the program is not going to do it.

Just tried this out on my Windows 7 64 bit system, and I get the same results using Photoshop.
When I save a file in Photoshop CS5 64 bit with the name 047. Crayon - Abstract the file is saved as 047. Crayon - Abstract without a file extension, no matter what document type I select in the drop-down.
In Word I get the expected result:

Program error when try to use 3D repousse in Photoshop CS5 extended?
Please help!!!! Unable to use 3D repousse Photoshop CS5 Extended (my system info is described below)
I tried almost everything that is available in Adobe library help, also re-installed programs as requested by Adobe support (suspected to get rid of me), it did not solve the problem.
I used to have 3D capabilities, and also crop tool worked well before (now it changes all layers when using crop even in background). My PC is same, nor I downloaded plugins or changed video cards (these things are too advanced for me!), also restored preferences many times.
My system makes automatic updates, reviewed graphics and adobe as recommended.
OpenGL settings is odd …only can access basic, other modes are not highlighted (normal or advanced).
ERRORS (for 3D Text)
1-“Your 3D scene now exceeds the limits of lights and/or textures for the video card’s hardware-accelerated 3D rendering. As long as the limits are exceeded, 3D rendering will be done in software only, and some features (e.g Repousse)will be disabled.”
2- “Your video card does not meet the requirements for hardware-accelerated 3D rendering. All 3D will be rendered with software only “
3-“ Could no complete the text layer command because of a program error”
ERROR (for object)
Open GL/GPU HARDWARE ACCELERATION IS CURRENTLY DISABLED. 3D WILL NOW BE RENDERED WITH SOFTWARE ONLY. TO ENABLE OPEN/GL ACCELERATION, GO TO PREFERENCES > PERFORMANCE TAB AND CHECK THE “ENABLE OPENGL GRAWING” CHECK BOX.
Is it possible that I have a GPU Sniffer? all these terms I have learned recently =) but I have a healthy & capable graphic card and accepted by adobe standards.

Installed TWAIN devices: NONEthank you for replying...but it seems an easy answer again like one given by support....I had photoshop working perfectly before with same video card, I think in one project I clicked something in program (photoshop)that was not ready to correct it by itself... It should be available for the program to give warning several times to the user, I do not know what made Photoshop to disable OpenGL settings, and not be able to reverse action!!!!! How do I change a GPU sniffer? I an not a tech, all these things I just learned reading....had spent hundreds of hours....really dissapointed of Adobe and its support....it is not fair to sell an expensive program without support, it seems to me that I know now more than a live customer support.

That would be the best way to do it while still using a table layout which in and of itself is not recommended, in large part for this very reason.
Every time you want to make a small change to the layout of your site, it will require re-slicing and re-generating code out of PS. You would be much better off taking the time to understand css layouts. Here is a good place to start to get the basics of css: http://www.w3schools.com/css -
Strange Display Bug - Photoshop CS5 64bit
I have an issue where a portion of my screen extending from the top left corner displays images in Photoshop just a little differently than the rest of the screen. You can see how it looks in these screenshots (I was a little surprised the screenshots captured the bug). These are screens of a photoshop document filled with one color, not the two shades it appears to be.

This bug doesn't appear except in Photoshop. As you can tell it's always the same part of the screen. Except somehow Photoshop briefly 'remembers' where the image bug is when I drag it around with the hand too. Eventually it goes back to the original spot or it will reset to there when I zoom or do something to the image. You can see in the screens how that works.
I have tried clearing out the settings files.
Reinstalling Photoshop.
Updated display drivers.
I connected to the monitor to another computer and ran Photoshop from that one (no bug).
I attached another monitor to this computer - no bug with that monitor. Strangely, it seemed to take a few minutes to reappear after I reattached my other monitor again. I thought it had gone away at first.
I've done some searching around the web and the forums but can't seem to find the right answers. It would be great is someone had some ideas on what's going on. This problem is driving me batty. Thanks much.

Hm, seems to stop exactly halfway across, left to right, and in a 5:4 ratio.
Looks like a pretty big display... What's the pixel resolution of your monitor? Does it use a dual-link DVI connection?
Do you have any desktop management software active that does things like expand the desktop or provide multiple / virtual desktops? I'm trying to guess at whether something might be causing the system metrics to be reported wrongly.
Just on a hunch, try this: Choose Edit - Preferences - Performance, click the [Advanced Settings...] button, and change the OpenGL Mode to Basic.
If no change, does the problem go away if you uncheck [ ] Use OpenGL Drawing entirely?

I'm trying to set up Apple ID 2-step verification in Canada. Everything seems to work just fine, and I've added several trusted devices, and printed my recovery key, etc. The problem is that the website suggests adding SMS-capable devices as trusted
