AVI Issue on Windows VISTA

Hi-
I created a 3 minute cartoon at 24 fps in Flash 8
Professional. I export it as an AVI using NO compression, 32-bit
alpha, 44kHz, 16 bit stereo sound.
It exports fine (albeit BIG), but when I try to play it on my
Windows Vista Media Player 11and Quicktime Pro version 7.1.6, it
does not work. I cannot even import it into Movie Maker. It says
that a codec is missing. Does anyone know what codec I need? I
thought that since it was full frames and UNcompressed, that it
would be fine.
Now, I tried the same thing at work and it plays and looks
very good, so obviously I am missing a codec or other component on
the Vista machine.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Rob

Sounds like a driver issue to me.
Have you tried reinstalling your sound driver?

  • Itunes 8 - issues with Windows Vista

I have recently bought a new laptop with windows vista home basic. Downloaded Itunes 8 and installed it ok, but when i go to start itunes, it starts in a minimised screen and I can't see the any of the buttons along the top (file, edit etc..). When the screen is maximised, the appearance is ok. But there is a problem with language in the play-lists - the playlist titles are in another language (Looks like Swedish or Finnish).
I've checked all the language settings in itunes and in the operating system too and they are all set to English. Has anyone come accross this problem before? Is this a known issue with Itunes/Vista?

I am having the same problem regarding the playlist languages, as well as other aspects. For example, my library name under preferences is not in English. Have you resolved the issue? I have checked all of my itunes and computer language settings and they are all set to English. I even changed my computer settings from Canada to US so that they are all the same.

  • ITune reinstall issue with Windows Vista

Because of a malware issue I was recently forced to remove, among all the others, my iTunes program from my computer (Dell Studio 1535 using Windows Vista Home Premium Service [OEM] Pack 2). A few days ago I went to the Apple site and downloaded the iTune64 setup application. When I click on the app it starts to install properly but all of a sudden I receive a popup saying:  “The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This canoccur if you are running Windows in safe node, or if the Windows Installer isnot correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance.” I am not running this setup in "Safe Mode." After numerous internet searches, fix attempts and discussions with individuals in India I’m still having this issue. Could anyone offer any suggestions?  BTW, this WILL be the LAST Windows base computer I will EVER own. In the meantime, I need my iTunes back.

    Hi,
Apple has released the 2.2 driver update for BootCamp.

It should address the difficulties with the 24" iMac.

  • N95 + One Touch Access issue on Windows Vista Busi...

    Hi all,
I searched for a solution to this issue both in this forum and in the Nokia PC Suite help but I couldn't find any.
I'm able to use Nokia PC Suite with my N95 + cable DKE-2 except for One Touch Access.
When I clic on "Connect to the Internet" I get the following error message pop up:
"You do not have sufficient privileges to modify the connection properties. Only Administrators can create and modify connections."
The funny thing is that I am an Admnistrator of my notebook (I don't know how many times I checked it from the Advanced User Accounts Control Panel).
If I clic "Ok" I get the One Touch Access window with the following message:
"There are no Nokia modems installed. Please make sure you have installed Nokia Connectivity Cable driver software."
And below the picture of the notebook and the base station:
    "No modem found!"
But if I check in the Device Manager (Control Panel) list I find "Nokia N95 USB Modem #2".
Moreover, as far as I understood, the cable driver is automatically installed with the Nokia PC Suite and I shouldn't reinstall it: http://europe.nokia.com/A4144937.

    Thank you,

I've had the same problem but it was not solved by installing PC Suite 6.84 (as this failed to install), however this is how I got around it.
Find the "OneTouchAccess.exe" program. It should be in C:/Program Files/Nokia/Nokia PC Suite 6/. Right-click the "OneTouchAccess.exe" program icon and go to ‘Properties’, then click the ‘Compatibility’ tab. Under ‘Privilege Level’, select ‘Run this program as administrator’ and click ‘OK’.
Then when "PC Suite" tries to launch "OneTouchAccess.exe" via the "Connect to the Internet" icon, it does so with the right privilieges.
(Any body know why PC Suite 6.84 would not install on my Acer notebook running Windows Vista V6.0 Build 6000?)

  • RESOLVED: "This driver is blocked-" issue on Windows Vista

Hi.  I have a ThinkPad T60, originally an XP machine that came pre-installed with Roxio RecordNow.  Recently, I upgraded it to Windows Vista. Unfortunately, I did not find the information about needing to uninstall this product *before* upgrading my system to Vista until it was too late – and I know from my search for a solution, I am not the only one
In my/our defense, the Microsoft Vista Upgrade Advisor found the potential problem before I did the upgrade but the message simply said something like “Caution.  You may have to obtain a Vista-compatible update for…” from Roxio.  This was true for drivers and sw from Lenovo too.  And, after upgrading I easily updated my ThinkPad drivers and applications by downloading the updated components from the Lenovo site.
But even after *purchasing* an upgrade to a newer version of Roxio's software – which their support people claimed would a) be compatible with Vista (it is) and b) fix my problem (it did not) – I cannot get rid of this issue...
    Program Compatibility Assistant
This driver is blocked due to compatibility issues...
    Driver: Sonic Solutions DLA...
    Publisher: Sonic Solutions
    Location: Not Available
A driver is installed that causes stability problems with your system…
This error message comes up (and cannot be closed) every time I restart my PC.
Long story short, the Microsoft and Lenovo sites (rightfully) point the finger at Roxio, but they have been of no help to me...  After having me try numerous, time-consuming things that they thought "this may work" (for example, see http://kb.roxio.com/content/kb/Creator/000127CR and http://kb.roxio.com/content/kb/Creator/000131CR their ultimate answer is “reformat your hard disk and start over with a new/clean Vista install…”
I cannot accept this answer.  There is way too much sw on my machine, purchased and installed over the last 1.5 years and all of which gracefully (more or less) went through this upgrade with me, for me to “start all over”!!!
I have been unable to find a solution to this problem amongst all the chatter on the net although I have found clues and I feel I may be getting close.  And so now, finally, my question...
I now know the related software and offending driver is found in C:\SWTOOLS\APPS\MMCfTO which is where Lenovo originally installed with sw on my hard drive.  To solve my problem, can I simply delete this folder *and* find/remove the corresponding Registry keys???
Thanks in advance to anyone here who can help me.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

For posterity...   I was able to resolve this issue by using some tips and tricks not specifically related to my issue, but allowed me to get to a solution nonetheless.
    1) The following article was NOT written for/about Vista, so you cannot run the "REG ADD" command it suggests.  However,  you can use REGEDIT to make the suggested addition to the Registry by hand.
            see  http://mcpmag.com/columns/article.asp?editorialsid=990
    2) This change allows you to run the Control Panel / Program Uninstall in Safe Mode and then you can Uninstall the Sonic Solutions DLA software.
    Yay!

  • AirPort Disk - Issue with Windows Vista Ultimate

I setup an AirPort Extreme network, with a shared USB Drive and so far I've only found one issue.
When attempting to create new files and renaming them, or rename pre-existing files on the shared USB Drive using Windows Vista Ultimate I get the following Yes/No dialog:
"The Z:\ folder does not exist. The file may have been moved or deleted. Do you want to create it?"
Then there's information about the mapped drive. If I click "Yes" in the dialog, then the dialog goes away for a moment then pops back up. I can't create a new file directly on the shared AirPort Disk, nor can I modify or create and rename new files on the disk without getting stuck in the loop.
I can, however, create a new file locally on the Vista box and copy it up, and I can even create a new directory locally with files and copy them up without issue.
Now, the issue does not happen when I use my MacBook or my XP machine. This issues seems to be a Windows Vista issue only, and I haven't seen anyone else reporting it.
Here's information about the disk share implementation:
    - The disk is password protected (turning on accounts really breaks the ability of Windows Vista to work with the disk)
    - The disk is Mac Formatted with Case Sensitivity, and Journaling
This works like a top for OS X and Windows XP, just not Vista. I'd like to getting working properly for all machines.
If anyone's got some advice on this one, I'd love to hear it.

Here's a little more information regarding the issue:
    - It's an AirPort Extreme Wireless Router with Firmware ver. 7.1
    - The Windows Vista Ultimate PC has the most recent Microsoft patches to-date, and has the most recent Apple Airport Utilities Software to-date.

  • Weird CS4 hanging issue in windows Vista when opening files with PS already loaded

I just installed the demo. I have a dual monitor setup running Windows Vista Ultimate x64 with 8GB ram ...
It appears I have both the 32bit and 64bit versions of PS CS4 installed. If I open either of these apps, then choose say a jpg on my desktop, right-click in windows, choose, 'open with' and select 'Adobe Photoshop CS4', then PS hangs - period. After a while, clicking the title bar of the app (which is a kind of menu bar in this version) causes it to return to the old look windows title bar where it shows my image name and the zoom etc, but with the usual (Not Responding) at the end of the title bar text!
It does this no matter which version (32 or 64bit) is presently loaded. It also does it if I have CS4 loaded and I select 'Edit with Photoshop' in Lightroom 2.1 (my main app which is configured to output files in 16bit PSD format).
Another weird quirk I found in CS4 - if I select 'Help', 'System Info' it displays the info on my second monitor, not my first! I figure this by the screen res shown as my second monitor (monitor 3 in Vista) is only running 1280x1024. Not sure if this has an effect on which monitor profile is used by PS - I would hope not as my 1st monitor is my calibrated one!
    Thanks, Paul

Freeagent - I just did some more testing and figured the issue I think! I had selected 'Enable OpenGL Drawing' in Performance preferences and even though I have the very latest nVidia driver (downloaded today) this still causes this issue!
One issue I have noticed though since figuring how to fix this - I have 2 monitors and on the left one I have the panels un-docked and laid out neatly on the desktop. I then have the main PS window with it's height shrunk as slim as possible and filling the top width of my 2nd monitor. In CS3 when I open an image, it generally remembers where the last one opened and uses the same place - this includes if I had the image in its own window on my main monitor. In CS4, it seems to want to open them in tabbed dialogs within the PS main window and for some reason they are on minimal magnification, so I need to drag the tab over to my main monitor every time and zoom in to get a decent size displayed.
Is there anywhere to configure where you want it to open images?
    Thanks, Paul

  • Airport Extreme 802.11n connectivity issues with Windows Vista

I recently purchased the 802.11n airport exterme base station and set it up using my MacBook Pro laptop. During the configuration process I set the security to be WEP enabled since there are other computers on my network, one of which has only an 802.11b wifi card, that can only accept WEP security protocol. The set up worked great and I was surfing on the internet with my Mac in no time.
When I go to connect to the 802.11n extreme base station with my Windows Vista desktop PC, I cannot get any type of connection. I re-entered the Network SSID to match that on the AE base station and re-entered the WEP enabled password.
Is there a compatibility issue between the Airport Extreme Base Station and Windows Vista? I realize that the base station works on XP based PCs but not sure why it could not work on a Vista machine. Any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   1.83Ghz Intel Core Duo

Upon further review I determined the flaw with my earlier attempts to set up the airport exterme base station with my winodws vista desktop pc. I realized that I should not use a WEP key but rather a WPA key since the wireless adpater connected to my desktop is a wireless G enabled adapter that can handles WPA and WPA2 security.
Therefore, no issues with Vista and the airport extreme base station. Works great.

  • Dynamic ARP inspection rate limit issues with Windows Vista Systems

    Good Day to everybody.
I had implemented DHCP Snooping & Dynamic ARP inspection feature to mitigate ARP spoofing attacks to one of customer location where we have mix of Windows vista & XP systems. By default DAI feature rate limit ARP packets on un-trusted ports to 15 Packets per second. With this value I was facing some issue to access file shares where port will go in error-disabled state due to ARP broadcast from system was crossing 15 PPS limit of DAI. For the same, I had increased the DAI limit to 64 & after that we had not facing this problem from windows XP systems, but windows vista systems are still giving problem. Also this probem is very random in nature & not all the windows Vista system will face same issue even though they are accessing same file share & are configured with same DAI rate limit.
That's why I am not able to figure out baseline values for DAI rate limits. I had already search microsoft documentation for limiting this ARP broadcast from Windows Vista system, but no luck.
Is there any way to find out correct settings for this DAI packet rate limiting in Windows Vista enviorement ?

    Hello bensyseng,
    check out this thread.
As topmahof said already it could correlate with a wrong Intel driver.

  • ATI driver installation issue with Windows Vista on Boot Camp (new iMac)

    I've just purchased a new 20" iMac with Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz.
Then I installed Windows Vista Ultimate on a Boot Camp partition.
Vista installation was eventless and worked nicely.
    Now the problem has begun...
I downloaded the latest ATI graphic card driver (Catalyst 7.7 for Vista 32) from the ATI website. The Catalyst software did not recognize the graphic card and installed nothing. I still have generic Microsoft standard VGA video adapter, which keeps me from playing any recent 3D games...
Someone please help me on this so that I can start playing Oblivion...

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
I still have to find a verification for this, but:
Aplle has up to now always used the Mobility versions of the ATI and NVIDIA graphics chips in the iMacs and MacBooks, MacBooks Pro.
I assume that the in the new imacs, they are also using the Mobility version of the Radeon 2400/2600.
The ATI drivers you can download from the ATI/AMD website are only suitable for the Desktop Radeons, NOT for the Mobility Radeons.
ATI/AMD does not provide drivers for the Mobility Radeons, but are refering to the Manufacturer of the Computer for Drivers, which is Apple.
Sorry to say, but it seems you have to wait for a new BootCamp version which you include Driver support of the new iMacs.
    Sorry

Everything went well, but the about tab still says I'm using Update 9. Add/Remove program confirms I have Update 10 installed.
I tried to remove and reinstall, but same thing.
Today, I've tried doing this. http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5248581
Now the about tab shows I'm using update 8. I wonder what's happening here. I'm using Vista.

Failing that, you could back up your iTunes Music Folder (just copy it to your desktop or something) then uninstall itunes and re-install the fresh copy. I know its a pain but sometimes doing this saves alot of messing about.
Then all you do is add all the stuff in the itunes music folder to your library again.
Ive done this myself a couple of times in the past on a windows PC
