AVi to Flash converter

Can anyone recommend a cheap, preferably free, conversion app
to convert my
.avi files to flash video or swf ( not quite sure what the
differences are ,
could do with enlightening).
I wish now I had taken the Macromedia u/g to studio offer
that they put out
before Adobe got their hands on DW, now the u/g to studio is
way beyond what
I can justify, plus I'm hoping that Photoshop get some
integration with DW
and FW replaces ImageReady in the next version.
TIA
Hywel Harris

I'm so sorry - I've just been looking and although I didn't
see a price
(they certainly make it difficult to find) I'll take your
word for it.
Sorry Hywel - any chance of upgrading to DW8?

Any1 knows a good avi to mov converter that is free of charge??

Does MPEG Streamclip do what you want? Note that AVI is a container, not a file format; the audio and video parts of it may be encoded with any codec.

    what makes you thinking that?
avi is just a media-container, a 'wrapper', no format, no codec.
depending on what codec(s) are in use, iDVD or other DVD-creator-apps can transcode 'out of the box'.
teaching the Quicktime-engine new codecs is done by the free tool www.perian.org
if your files need conversion, the free tool Mpeg Streamclip is highly recommended.
paying licences is only needed, when wmv is in use - Microsoft likes to get paid, if you use its proprietary codecs outside Windows (flip4mac is a MS-owned company).
most $$ converters on the market are based upon the free ffmpeg-library, so you pay for a nice GUI, some one-click-convenience. but the free tools, mentioned above, do same ...

  • Convert mpeg or avi to flash video for Web

    Hello,
I wanted to know how can you upload a mpeg, avi, or wmw to a
website and convert it to a flash video file? What software is
involved? What is the easiest method for doing this? Is there a tut
out there or a book that details this method?
    Thanks,

hi, for your situation, you would expect a video converter software, to convert avi or mpeg to flash video (.flv) for web. You probably know that there are plenty of free video converter out online. like Sothink Free Video Converter which I used for while, and I am sure it supports FLV video conversion. you could have a try.

  • Avi to FLV converting using Flash 8

I'm trying to convert an avi file that works perfectly to a
FLV file using Macromedia Flash 8.
The info for the avi file is the following:
    Codec: a52
    Sample Rate: 48000 Hz
    Bitrate: 256 kb/s
The FLV file is trying to converted to the following:
    Video Codec: On2 VP6
Audio Codec: MPEG Layer III (MP3)
Audio data rate: 96 kbps (Stereo)
After convertion the video looks fine but there is no audio.
I tried selecting another audio codec on Flash 8 but the only
codec showing is MPEG Layer III (MP3). And its gray out. No option
    to select something else.
Do I need to install another codec so I can listen to the
    audio after converting?
    Thanks.

I think your avi is encoded at MPEG1 and it needs to be MPEG2
for the audio to not get dropped during the conversion. I use
VideoRedo to convert the avi files, and you can also try SUPER
converter or AutoGK to do it as well.

  • Converted AVI to Flash

    Hi,
I have filmed some short 30 second intro Clips on a DV camera
that stores to .MOD (JVC) .
I just rename it to .mpg as it is mpeg2 format.
The Quality is excellent for this particular requirement.
I take the clips into Premiere Pro 2.0 ( Just ordered
Production Suite CS3 Premium Today :)) and I convert the clips to
AVI using Deinterlace ticked as an option.
The Clips paly fine and look perfect.
I import these then into Flash 8 using the Import Video
option and have tried various settings and quality settings but
they all end up the same.
The output FLV files play and any hand movement etc shows up
with combing and doesn't look great.
Is there a way to improve this in any way, as I can't see any
settings in Flash to reduce this.
    Cheers
    MacNimation

If your source file is interlaced, you have to tell your
software to de-interlace, which you said you've done. You may also
need to tell it if the source is top or bottom field first. If you
get this wrong, you'll get the effect you're describing. What
confuses me is that you say the AVI looks good, but when you encode
to Flash, you get this effect. That may be, I would experiment with
field order in Premiere. Also, maybe use Quicktime as your output
from Premiere. A further option is to get the ON2 VP6 codec as a
    plugin (
    http://www.on2.com/consumer/flix-exporter/?sid=DI5L-B1G7-46335533d9482&ref=encodeflashvide o
) BUT make sure it's supported in Premiere, this I don't know. If
it is, then this may give you more options and control.

  • How to import two AVI video files & convert to one FLV ?

    Status:
    - Newbie using PC & Flash CS3 ver9l
    - I can import a single AVI video file and convert it to an FLV video.
    Problem:
    - I have two AVI video files... one 4GB (20 minute) long and one 2GB (10 minute) long... and want to combine them to have a single 30 minute long FLV video file.
    Question:
    - Can I do this in Flash? When I "convert" a single AVI video to a FLV using the File, Import method... I can't really see the video on the Flash time line. I'm a newbie so I'm probably doing something wrong.
    - I tried doing a File, Import for file-1.avi and then doing it for file-2.avi... but the two were on top of each other... and not end to end.
Maybe some kind sould will walk me through this.
    Thanks for any help.

Your not going to be able to combine two videos as one in flash, if your using Win try Win Movie Maker, I believe you can drag both into a WMVM timeline and can then save as one file, then you can use AVC video converter or the like to encode them into an .flv or.f4v file.

  • Are there any converter or codec/plugin for Edius Captured Avi to be converted into Quicktime?

I have some avi files caputred on Edius. But I work on FCP 7. They do not play on fcp or premier cs6. I tried looking up discussions online, didn't get much help there. Is there a way to convert these AVIs to an .mov files so I can edit on fcp? I don't have access to a windows PC or the original mini dv tapes. I believe the footage was shot in HDV/ PAL. • How to restore sound to exported avi? - Flash MX 2004 Pro

    Hi,
Over the last couple of days I have been tinkering around with Flash MX 2004 Pro. More specifically, I have been importing avi's to the library and then placing the embedded video into a movieclip so I could have more control over it. While in the library I could preview the video along with the sound. Exporting the video again in avi format it would render the sound. However, all of a sudden it will only preview the video and not the sound in the library and the same goes for when I export a video there is no sound. The strange thing is the sound is still present when I test the movie. I have tried reinstalling the program with no luck. Any ideas?
    Many thanks.

Well there is no answer to my question, but I did finally get the Adobe Media Encoder dialog box to come back again.
After uninstalling Premiere and QuickTime, then shutting down the computer, rebooting and logging on to the Admin account, shutting down again, rebooting again, logging in to the Admin account again ...
I then went in to the registry and removed all the Entries that had either of these in it:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\DVA\COM
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\DVA\FLASH
    and these as well
    C:\Program Files (x86)\QuickTime\QTComponents\FLV.qtx
    C?\Program Files (x86)\QuickTime\QTComponents\FLV.qtx
Rebooted the computer, logged back in to Admin.
I then re-installed QuickTime, and rebooted.
I then installed Premiere and the Adobe Media Encoder Flash dialog now shows up.
I'd be careful messy with the registry if you are trying to fix this type of problem.  Try uninstalling quicktime and premiere and do the above shutdown, reboot sequence a number of times before doing anything to the registry.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do about that Flash Website I've working on...

  • Avi to flv converter?

Hi, I've been trolling the internet for a 100% free video converter, not something that's freeware/shareware but requires a license. I have a big need to convert my avi's and mp4's into flv so that they don't eat up as much of my sites bandwidth a month. Can anyone recommend something 100% free, I just laid out the cash I had on final cut so paying for more software isn't idea at this point and time.

    sozemediagroup wrote:

in addition to David's excellent advice... :
flv is just a container; it became famous due to YouTubes success; but YT used the old-fashioned VP6 video-codec for compression; since Flash10, flv allows latest h264 inside (Davids advice); actually, YT offers h264 encoded material and actually converts to html5/no flv ...
but you'll notice actually a 'switch', away from flv to html5, e.g. most mobile-devices (smartphones from Nokia, LG etc, Blackberry, iPhone, iPad) don't support this 'power eating format', and turn to more elegant and much faster/smaller html5/< video > tag + h264 ...
it's all about compatibility and market shares
    .. flv isn't perhaps not future-proof ...

    Hi
I want to convert pdf files to flash files with animations like flipping pages etc., buttons for zoom. And better works on MacOS.
any software or component works for that?

    Hi,
You may need to apply for a distribution license for Adobe Flash Player and Reader.
Please visit http://www.adobe.com/in/products/players/flash-player-distribution.html for additional details on how to go about this.
    Hope this helps.

  • Generate AVI files. Convert in AVI from MOV. QUICKTIME PRO??

    Hi,
First of all, I'd like to ask you an apology if my problem has been solved in another post, but I couldn't find it.
I have an AVI file and I’d like to add the subs (srt file) My idea was to open the AVI file with a program, to add the file and finally to generate a new AVI file with the subs included.
I had the wrong idea that with Quicktime I could make that, but after several intentions I have realized that I haven’t the Quicktime Pro, what I have is Quicktime X and with this version is not possible to generate an AVI file the way I need.
I have read a few posts about the differences between Quicktime 7 Pro and Quicktime X, and before thinking in buy the Quicktime 7 Pro license, I want to know if it will make what I want.
I also need to convert a MOV file into an AVI file or another smaller which I could share by email. I prefer AVI format because all users (MAC & WINDOWS) can play it.
I am not sure if the Quicktime 7 Pro is the better solution for me. Maybe you know another program which I can get what I need.
Thank you in advance, best regards.
    FJT

If you are also running the 3ivX codec module and the movie is a DivX AVI, then you you may need to run the file through 3ivX's DivX Doctor II. This utility updates DivX .avi videos to 3ivX QT (.mov) videos. (This assumes other files still play correctly with audio.)
    http://www.3ivx.com/divxdoctor/
"After the conversion you will be able to play the video smoothly, and the audio glitches inherent in the AVI format will be fixed" -- according to the 3ivX site.

  • Can't open some .AVI - How to convert .AVI to .MOV?

    Hello
I've got a bunch of AVI clips that I need to convert to .MOV for film scoring purposes in Digital Performer 5.
QTPro won't open these AVIs, how can I still convert them to MOV? Is there any way?
    Thanks
    Chris

Thanks so much for the great advice, I downloaded mpeg streamclip and I have been playing around with converting my video.
There are many different options and I have tried a few but the quality of the picture is slightly pixelated. Can you advise me about the best option to use to get the best quality picture.
I want to be able to edit it in imovie, so I was exporting it to quicktime but there are many other options which would you recommend?
When I exported it to quicktime I tried the following options
    I have tried compression -
    Apple motion jpeg A
png - sound played but picture was frozen and didn't play
Tiff - same thing as png
but there is an endless list and I'm not sure what it all means.
There are also many different frame sizes, I use (4:3) in imovie but it also had a 320 x 240 unscaled I'm not sure what this means?
Are there any other options/boxes I should be altering/checking?
Sorry for asking so many questions.
I'm not really very familiar with all these terms, it's a completely new language to me.
Any advice would be really appreciated
Thanks again for helping me out : )

  • AVI to AVCHD convert

    Hello All,
I would like to use Elements to convert very large AVI clips to the smaller AVCHD clips.  But I don't want to do them one at a time.  Is there a way to mantain the clips and save all the AVI clips to AVCHD clips with elements?

Before I moved to PRE I was using "Magix Movies on DVD'". I kept it installed for a few nice features that PRE doesn't have:
    Batch Processing
Saving each object as a single clip (i.e. I use its splitter tool to make multiple scenes - I can then save each scene (losslessly if to same format) to a separate file. This saves me all the hassle of using PRE one segment at a time with the Work Area Bar (so tedious !).
The version I use was v7, bundled with the Magix Rescue you Videotapes v1. It has some nice features - including several from their Audio Cleaning Lab product (an amazingly cheap but essential product for cleaning audio tracks for your projects).
There are a shedload of other conversion programs around. For example I have the following installed:
