AVI  TO  MOV  =  blur?

Hi!
I used Qt pro 6.5.2 to convert some Avi files (1024x768 pixels) to Mov.files. the result is SO blurred! i have used the "best" settings all over... Then burned them in IDvd 5.0.1.
The Avi files looks just fine played in Qt or Vlc - not blurred.
Toggen

Toggen,
AVI and MOV files are just video "Containers". The video and audio inside the container can be in many many formats/compression schemes.
So telling us you converted from AVI to MOV is kinda like telling me you put your beer in a plastic mug or a glass mug, but what I really need to know is what kind of beer it was, and how you changed the beer before moving it to the new mug......."best" settings all over doesn't tell us much.
Do "Show Movie Info" after opening the AVI and MOV in QT. That will give your the video formats/compression schemes you used.
John
PS.....Yes I do have an interest in malted barley & hop beverages......and I prefer to use glass pints

Let us start from the beginning.
It has been established that you have Premiere Elements 10. On what computer operating system is it running?
There has not been a File Menu/Export/Movie export opportunitity in Premiere Elements since version 7. We are not up to version 12.
For Premiere Elements 10, your export opportunities are all in Share/ including one for Computer. Under Computer there are several choices. The ones that you see are Adobe Flash Video, MPEG, and AVCHD. The others you have to scroll down to. And those choices are AVI, Windows Media, QuickTime, Image, and Audio. You do not have to use the scroll bar for this. You can click on Adobe Flash Video panel to get it to turn black. Then use the down arrow to go down the list and the up arrow to go up the list. Once you get to a category, you can select a preset and go with it or customize it under the Advanced Button/Video Tab and Audio Tab of the preset.
If you post the properties of your source media that you want to try to match in the export, I would be glad to suggest the exact settings for you.
We will be watching for your follow up with details.
    Thank you.

Add On...The Premiere Elements 10 File Menu is for more than Saving, just not exporting. One of the key features that can be access there is the Project Archiver. More on that another time.

  • How do I convert MP4 file to AVI or MOV using MacBook Pro (2010)

I am 10.6.4 new user on a new MacBook Pro. This is my first Mac computer.
I want to convert a MP4 video file to AVI or MOV file type. How would I do this on my new Mac? Documentation says I have Quicktime X, but I cannot find Quicktime X on my system. When I try to load Quicktime 7 Pro, my system says I have Quicktime X and cannot load Pro. Apple websites say Pro version will allow me to convert the MP4 files. Anyone have any experience or ideas on what I should do? How do I find Quicktime X? Will it do the conversion for me? Thanks

Use MPEG Streamclip, or open the QuickTime Player from the /Applications/Utilities/ folder, installing this software if needed.

  • AVI to MOV converter

Any1 knows a good avi to mov converter that is free of charge??
    THX

Does MPEG Streamclip do what you want? Note that AVI is a container, not a file format; the audio and video parts of it may be encoded with any codec.

  • Mini DVR Records in .AVI and .MOV Format-white screen

I am a private investigator, and have used a mac for years. I purchased my new MacBook 2 weeks ago for the purpose of uploading the video to my mac, and burning the video to DVD for my clients.
I just purchased a JS208 Mini DVR and Mini Spy Button Cam. I.E. its a generic chinese product, but I was told that since it records in .AVI and .MOV format, I could either plug in the SV card (with the video from the mini DVR) or plug the USB cord into the computer and upload the video.
When I plug in the DVR, iPhoto recognizes that a .MOV is available. It downloads.
However, once downloaded, and opened on Quicktime, no sound and white screen.
When I click on Command I, This is what i see:
    Source: /Users/sammythepug/Desktop/MPEG0002.MOV
    Format: Apple MPEG4 Decompressor, 640 x 480, Millions
    Microsoft ADPCM, Stereo, 12.000 kHz
    FPS: 30
    Playing FPS: (Available while playing)
    Data size: 2.28MB
    Data Rate: 2336.00 kbits/s
    Current Time: 0:00:00:00.00
    Duration: 0:00:00:08.20
    Normal Size: 640 x 480 pixels
    Current Size: 640 x 480 pixels (Actual)
I spent an hour on the phone with Mac Support, and they told me to download MPEG StreamClip. I really don't know what I am doing at this point, because everyone told me it would be easy...HELP!!

    Here are the DVR Specs:
    Digital Screen: 1.5" TFT LCD
    Recording Formats: AVI, ASF, MOV
    Recording Resolution: 640x480, 480x240, 160x120 pixels
    Frame Rate: 30 FPS
    Built in Flash: 45MB
SUB Jack: High Speed USB 2.0
    Mini Cam Specs:
    Picup device: 1/3" color CMOS
    System: PAL/NTSC/ EIA
    Horizontal Definition: 420 TV Lines
    Minimum Illumination: 3 Lux
    Dimensions: 27x27x8mm
    Power Supply DC 5V
I am also open to recommendations for other cameras that may work. The DVR has to be smaller than a pack of cigarettes, and has to be compatible with the mini button camera.
    thanks

  • How to publish to video format avi , wmv , mov or mpg ?

How to publish to video format avi , wmv , mov or mpg ?

    Hello there,
You can publish as MP4 from Captivate and then use any video converters to convert from MP4 to whatever format you need. But, as Lilybiri mentioned, there won't be any interactivity in the videos.
    Thanks,
    Vish

  • AVI to MOV? Any good compression tools?

I need to convert about 100GB of AVI with embedded Canopus Codecs to MOVs so they can be compatible with Final Cut Pro. They wont open by themselves in FCP for some reason. Anybody have advice on software that converts AVI to MOV with out loss of quality?

If it is a proprietry Canopus Codec, I think it is likely that you will need to use a Canopus software product to create a suitable mov file. If the file is a more generally available Codec we use Autodesk Cleaner for file conversion. This takes most formats, except wmv, for input and can output a number of formats and Codecs (including wmv). It is getting a bit long in the tooth now, but still works well for us.
Incidently I am currently doing wmv files on a PC with the Ulead software that came with the DVD burner. It does an OK job and since most of the source is game play footage from various computer games and is often less than perfect to begin with it is usually adequate.

  • Capturing images from avi or mov in QT

What's out there to capture single images in jpeg format for an avi or mov file that I can play through qt pro ?
    thanks

What's out there to capture single images in jpeg format for an avi or mov file that I can play through qt pro ?
Not sure if you are referring to a single JPEG image (as for a poster image) here or a JPEG image sequence.
In the former case, you can use QT 7 Pro "Movie to Picture" option to export a single frame to a PCT image file (with or without compression) which, if double-clicked will then open in Preview and allowing you to re-save the image in several image formats including JPEG. If you want to go directly to a JPEG image and have the free MPEG Streamclip application installed, use it.
In the latter case, use the QT 7 Pro "Movie to Image Sequence" export option to save a sequence of JPEG images to folder using the "Options" palette set the image frequency.

  • AVI and MOV conversion?

I just got a new iPod Classic 80gb, and I found out that you cant sync AVI and MOV file format videos to it.
What I was wondering if there is a patch or something that allows my iPod to read AVI or MOV formats.
I'm using iSquint, but its rather slow for a 500mhz G4.
    Thanks

Hello - I have a post below yours about converting avi files. So gather from your post that I need to buy quick pro, not just use what came with my new mbpro to be able to convert the files. Is this correct?

  • Conversion of avi to mov

Anyone know a program I can use to convert avi to mov? on deadline and I can't find anything. Thanks

Divixx Doctor will also convert and it's a free prgm to download. It also worked on some PAL avi's I had. Didn't work on all the PAL stuff, but most of it. NTSC avi should all be good.

  • MXF codecs & encoder for pc? MXF AVI or MOV

    Hello,
I have a question about MXF codecs for PPro CS3. I have a Sony PDW-530 (2/3" professional SD camera) and I shoot on IMX50. I have a problem when I import the .MXF files in PPro CS3. PPro CS3 says, 'unsupported format or codec is missing'. When I shoot with the Sony PDW-F335L (that's a HD 1/2" camera) and import the .MXF files into PPro CS3 I have no problem with 'unsupported format or codec is missing'.
So one of my questions is: 'Is there a codec for Premiere Pro CS3 for .MXF files shoot on IMX30 / IMX40 or IMX50? And where can I found him then.
Then my other question: Mac has a MXF encoder, named 'XDCAM Transfer'. In this program you can import the .MXF files and then convert it to a .MOV file. The .MOV file you can import in Premiere Pro CS3.
Is there for PC also a MXF encoder of tranfer (to a .AVI or .MOV file?)
    Hopefully you can help me!
    Greetings Rob!

I believe Premiere's MXF support is limited to DVCPRO HD and XDCAM EX/HD.

  • QT Pro won't play avi or mov movie

I've download the latest QT Pro but it still won't play the video portion of an AVI or MOV video. What else do I need. I find it incredible that you have to go to this much work to play a video on a MAC.

I just updated QTpro and I can't get audio to play on avi or mov. It's started out and then kept disappearing and now nothing. Major drag.

  • Exporting  to .avi or .mov format

How can I export and iMovie to a .avi or .mov format? For use by others with PC's , etc.

both, avi and mov are no formats, just containers, some say wrappers...
in the share/expert settings dialog, you're offerd with zillions of options...
PC users need to install the latest version of QuicktimeForWindows, free for download at apple.com...
avi is little supported on Mac... old school & wrong side of the street..
think about investing into some plug-ins from www.flip4mac.com …
form a users point of view, I collected some info on a website: CODEXX
