Avi to mp4 to play on 5G ipod

i got lots of AVI films on my HD
now i want to turn them into MP4 to use them on my video ipod
how can i do that
I'm an apple user so can't use any windows apps
i tried pspware but somehow a few things got wrong there so...
maybe i need a ser nr to use that properly or a psp player witch I both don't have
what can i use to easily transfer avi to MP4 to put in a good resolution on my ipod?
I used ponder trial to get them from mp4 to my ipod, but podner does not like AVI
Or do I need a ser nr to make that really work to?

i found my own skeletons
if you want to have avi played on your ipod use isquint
if your mp4 made with ipod won't fit to your ipod, throw him on isquint as well
if you even want to have subtitles on your avi use no frills dvd2ipod, you need to dl ffmpegx on the way to use it but once you fixed that the sky is the limit
it even eats video_ts as in handbrake, but it guaranties ipod cooperation
you could also use QT ipod settings but it takes ages to render the film, my ffmpegx seems to be pretty fast
good luck
it works fine for me

  • How do I get an mp4 to play on my ipod

I need advice on how to make my mp4 music cd play transferring with itunes to an older ipod

"MP4" is nornally associated with video files?  Is this audio-only music, or something like music videos?  If this is an audio music CD, is it a standard commercial music CD (that you buy at the store), or is it a "data disc" that has audio files on it?

  • Weird: I have an mp4 that plays on my iPod but not in QT

    Does that make any sense?
In the properties inspector in QT player, the video track shows a size of 0 x 288, but I know it's supposed to be 624 x 352... The inspector won't let me set that size...
It also "plays" in iTunes at the right size, but is very slow and jerky (one frame every 10 seconds etc) and the audio skips as well. My CPU monitor shows 85% of both G4 1.25 GHz cpus being used.

Apparently, there was a bug in iSquint which caused this problem
iSquint 1.5.2 fixes this problem, and the included "Debreaker.app" fixes any broken files.

how can i convert my avi clips from my digital camara to mp4 for my ipod

Drag the files into the open iTunes window and then convert them. Some AVI files cannot be played in iTunes and you may lose the sound upon conversion; if either happens, use Perian and MPEG Streamclip respectively.

I recently got a sd card from an amusement park with videos of me on a zipline but when I went to load them on my Ipod they would not load because it would not support the MP4 format. How do I get my Ipod to accept that format?

You do not.  Instead you convert the videos to a format that can be played on the iPod.

  • Mp4 files plays both A/V in itunes but only V on ipod classic

mp4 files plays both A/V in itunes but only V, no sound, on ipod classic

The same happens to me but slightly diff. It doesn't
play the song at all. It only skips to the next song
or returns to the main menu
I've noticed that only the itunes-purchased songs will not play on my ipod mini, although these same songs work fine in itunes...
Once an itunes-purchased songs is selected to play in my ipod, the song does not play. Instead, the ipod screen defaults back to the main menu.
I've downloaded all the lastest upgrades, performed the 5Rs, deauthorized, reauthorized, unistalled & reinstalled software, checked for a complete download of songs in my purchase history, and also played the purchased songs in itunes.

  • Playing mp4 videos posted online on ipod touch

I posted videos on my school's website that were created by my students.  I converted all of the videos to mp4s so that they would be in a format that could be viewed with an ipod Touch or on a computer.  At first I was able to play the videos on the ipod Touch without any problems.  However, a few weeks ago i started seeing an error message that said "plug-in handled load".  Each time, I just clicked ok and the video played.  I read somewhere online that updating the ipod Touch software might take care of this problem.  However, since updating the software, the videos won't play at all.
Here's a link to one of the videos thatused to work, but will no longer play on the ipod Touch:
    http://cmsd.k12.pa.us/cmsd/cm_canon_middle/library/SeerOfShadows2_xvid_x264_000. mp4
Is there another file format that I could use that would work both with the ipod Touch and online by anyone accessing our website?  Any advice would be appreciated!

What is the source of the videos?
Have you tried deleting/unsyncing them and resyncing?
Do they now play i iTunes?
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

  • Bad performance of video convertion from .avi to .mp4

I use QT Pro v7.0.3 to convert avi video to mp4. The mp4 quality is bad. I am unsure if mp4 movie is bad in quality or QT Pro is bad in convertion. As iPod selects to support mp4 video, the quality should be of an acceptable one, otherwise, it just damages iPod reputation. It is my first time to watch mp4 video but the impression is not to bother at all - worse than vCD. Is there any one using mp4 video? Any comments!
    Thanks,
    Ray

I set my QT avi to mp4 conversion to 2500 kbits/sec, current image size, current frame rate, and it's still worse than the original avi. FAR worse.
I've given up on encoding my avi's to play from my iPod. It just stinks, so I'm not sure what to tell ya... just that you are not alone in your observation. They look OK for play on the iPod, but playing from the iPod to anything else, like say a TV, it's not worth it. It seems to be better to just play the avi via some other means on the TV, because the conversion is seriously sub par.

Alternatively, you can download the free iConvert App from the App Store, it can convert into .mp4 which you could then add to your iTunes library and sync to iPhone/iPad/iPod :)

  • Converting .avi to .mp4: No audio

I am trying to convert an avi to mp4 so I can play it on my ipod. I only plan on doing this 1 file so it makes no sense for me to purchase Quicktime Pro or VisualHub, so my options are iSquint and MPEG Streamclip.
After trying within iSquint, the conversion works but the quality of the mp4 file is almost unwatchable.
I then tried it in MPEG Streamclip but this is where my problem begins. No matter what I do I can't get audio on any output file. The avi file plays normally in Quicktime and VLC, but I've noticed that in the player in Streamclip there is no audio.
Even exporting to other output files gives no relief either.
I've looked at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1616285&tstart=0 that addresses a similar problem but don't see anything to help my specific situation.
    Some possible useful info:

    DivXDecoder.component
    DivXEncoder.component

    Flip4Mac WMV Export.component
    Flip4Mac WMV Import.component
(note the first 3 file have a white lego block as their icon, the second 3 have a white page as their icon.)
When playing the file in Quicktime the Quicktime Movie Inspector gives this info:
    NMP1.avi
    DivX
    Format: DivX 6.0, 608 x 246, Unknown MPEG Layer 3, Stereo, 44.100 kHz
    FPS: 23.98
    Data Rate: 708.03 kbits/s
    Normal Size: 608 x 246 pixels
    Current Size: 608 x 246 (Actual)
While the file is in the MPEG Streamclip player the Stream Info displays
    Bit Rate: 0.75 Mbps
    Video Tracks:
    DivX 5.0, 608 × 246, 23.976 fps, 634 kbps
    Audio Tracks:
MPEG Layer-3 Audio stereo, 44.1 kHz, 112 kbps
    Stream Files:
    NMP1.avi (790.21 MB)
Does anyone know what is causing this problem and/ or know how to fix it?

(ps I didn't know which section to put this thread under so went with Quicktime as a safe bet.)

    Thanks for replying guys.
I tried what you suggested Ricktoronto on a small test file and it worked!
You've made my day, been trying for a couple of days to get this to work.
Is it ok to delete those DivX files from my mac now? I have the DivX player still installed, that won't crash if I delete those files, will it?
    Many thanks, much appreciated.

  • How do I convert a photo booth file to an AVI or MP4?

How do I convert a photo booth file to an AVI or MP4?
I tried exporting the file from Quick Time to my desktop, but the file extension reads as .m4v - is that compatible with other pc?

The M4V format is a video file format developed by Apple and is very close to the MP4 format. The differences are the optional Apple's DRM copyright protection, and the treatment of AC3 (Dolby Digital) audio which is not standardized for the MP4 container.
If your M4V video is not unprotected M4V files and without AC3 audio. It may be recognized and played by other video players by changing the file extension from ".m4v" to "mp4".
So you can try to change the file extension and check if it works. If it doesn't work, try Leawo video converter(for windows or mac) and convert m4v to mp4 format.

  • MP4/H.264 Video to iPod

OK, let's start by saying that I have read the specs from Apple on what the iPod will take as far as video goes.
I have encoded numbers files with iMove and QT Pro to Apple standers and I still can not get the video on my iPod
    My encoding settings for iMove;
Video; Movie to MPEG-4, Video Format = H.264, Image Size = 320 x 240 QVGA, Frame Rate = 15, Key Frame = Automatic, Restrict Profile = Main, Encoding Mode = Faster encode (Single-Pass)
Audio; Audio Format = AAC-LC (Music), Data Rate = 128 kbps, Channels = Stereo, Output Sample Rate = 44.100kHz, Encoding Quality = Best
Now come on that sounds like what apple.com posts on there site at http://www.apple.com/quicktime/tutorials/creatingvideo.html
I encode the video file, drag it to iTunes, Update my iPod and I get an error saying that they can not play on this iPod.
If I encode using Movie to ipod (320x240) it works just fine.
    Can anyone help???
P.S. Why with QT Pro does Apple lock out the Options when encoding "Movie to iPod" I just want to lower the frame rate and sound bit rate as the movies I am encoding are from the 30's and 40's
P.S. To the Mac guys that post back to other questions thats for the TidBit on HandBrake I will be checking it out for my DVDs
    Midnight Animation

If I am not mistaken, you are not the first to have encounter this problem from exporting video from iMovies to iTunes to iPod 5th Gen using that settings... apparently I read elsewhere people have more luck when exporting in the format of .mp4 rather tha the H.264... and I think that is the default setting in QT Pro's settings you talk about. I think some have better luck to re-export whatever iMovie they have using that QT Pro iPod Export Setting and that video would be able to play in iPods...
Ya I know, sounds silly that Apple make us go the long way round, maybe there is an update in iMovie for this in the near future?
    Cheers

  • Adding MPEG-1 video: iTunes plays it but iPod loses audio

I've read the support article here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302588
    The background:
My camcorder (a JCV Everio) exports video as MPEG-2 (".mod") files. About the only thing that seems able to open these is the editing software that came with it - Cyberlink PowerDirector. This will export videos as MPEG-1, MPEG-2, or AVI (Windows or DV).
The only one of these that iTunes seems able to import is MPEG-1. It plays both video and audio together without a problem. However, it won't sync the file with my iPod. When I use iTunes "Convert selection for iPod" function, the resulting (m4v?) file lacks audio.
Is there a simple way to convert my source video files into a format that will play without problems on: Windows, Mac, iTunes, iPod, anything else I might like to throw at it, and not involve me paying "just $29.99" for some software that claims to convert water into wine and looks like it was built by a Serbian teenager?
    Thanks for any advice.

  • My movies won't play on my ipod

I just downloaded some movies to play on my ipod touch but they won't play on my ipod for some reason. all of them are mp4 files and h.264 (i don't know what this means but seems to be useful when I searched online to see if I could find answers) format (?). They play on itunes but when I try to sync it with my ipod, they won't copy because supposedly they cannot be played on this ipod. my ipod touch model is the one just before the model with the camera attached came out. (ver 4.2.1 is what it says in the info).

    See;
iTunes: May be unable to transfer videos to iPhone, iPad, or iPod
There are many flavors of H.264 and not all are compatible with the iPod. You may have to use a program like Handbreak to convert. This program has presents for the iPod/iPhone
