Avi (xvid) to AppleTV format converter

Hello everyone,
I hope someone can help me.
I need a simple, free program that can convert basically any type of file to the AppleTV format. It needs to be for Windows also.
Ive searched a lot on the net but I could not find any really. Also, I have Quicktime pro but it does not seem to convert any of my AVI files (in xvid)...

I assume there are a whole number of alternatives for windows, some easier to use than others and some more effective than others, but being a mac user I am not familiar with them. I mentioned mpeg streamlip because it's relatively easy to use and does a good job, I also know it's available for windows.
You will find that over a period of time, you use more than one converter for different situations, for example where I can I use QT tv preset, as you say it has its limitations but where it works it works pretty well and is a simple one click operation, mpeg streamclip usually does the rest for me, as it handles DV files much better than QT, then there is another bunch of software I use when it comes to DVD's.

  • AVI Movies to MPEG4 Format

    Hello,
I have a few .avi movies I would like to convert to watch on my iPod. MPEG Streamclip will not let choose .avi movies to convert and I keep getting "convertion failed" errors using ffmpegx. I need some help and suggestions. Thanks.

    Thanks guys,
I figured it out. QuickTime Pro 7 can convert .avi movies to mpeg4 format. Open the .avi in QuickTime Pro, click on File then click Save as and "Save as a self-contained movie" then click save. QuickTime will convert the file to a .mov format. Open the .mov in QuickTime, click on File than click Export and select Movie to iPod (320x240) than click save. When export is done you will have an mpeg4 file. Open iTunes then drag that file to the Library source list. That's it.

  • Date format convert error in XML interface based Adobe interactive forms

    Hi experts,
I am using XML interface based Adobe interactive form in Web Dynpro ABAP. The form just contains some date fields and numeric fields.
When I test the WD Application, the date fields appear like 0000-00-00 at the first time. And then I set the form input disable, and get the XML from the form, at the same time I get the warning message, 'date format convert error'. By the way, I have set the edit pattern, display pattern and data pattern  of the date field to YYYYMMDD, but there seems no effect.
Could you tell me how to set the default date format in date field Or clear the 0000-00-00?
And another question, all of the numeric fields in the form appear like 0.0, how can I set it to empty when the form initialize?
    Best Regards,
    Guo Guo Qing

    Hi Chintan,
    Thank you for your reply.
I have tried every possible changes on the Date field, locale, pattern. But still no effect. When the PDF come up in the WDA program, the date field is still '0000-00-00', and then I export the XML date of the form, there is also '0000-00-00' in the interface field.
I can't clear the '0000-00-00' in initializiation event using javascript because if I need to open the form again, if I do this, the value user input could be cleared.
I also try using Javascrip like this
    if this.rawValue == "0000-00-00"
    { this.rawValue = ""; }
The code above can't clear the initializiation zeros too.
Have you used the XML interface based online Adobe Forms? I have used XML PDF forms for output before, that's perfect. But the input forms seems so strange.

  • AVI Xvid and Premiere Elements 6......will I have problems?

    Hello,
I am thinking about buying an Insignia NS-DCC5HB09 HD Camcorder which records to AVI(Xvid). I realize this isn't a high quality camera, but from what I've seen, will do as well if not better than my Panasonic PV-GS120 digital Camcorder.
I use Premiere Elements 6 on my Vista Home Premium Computer and I am curious if anyone can tell me if I will have problems using the video from this camera in my projects?

Many of the hi-def camcorders that are sold as being perfect for YouTube use MP4 compression (the Flip cameras, for instance). They're nice and small and cheap and are great for plug and play, but I don't recommend them if you want to do any video editing.
I also recommend against camcorders that save to hard drives, including the AVCHD hi-def camcorders. (I say this despite the fact that many people are using them.) They demand a tremendous amount of computing power in Premiere Elements. Maybe, in a few years, when computers are twice as fast as a typical quad core -- but not for today's under $1,000 computers.
My not-so-humble advice is to stick with tape-based camcorders, whether they are standard DV or hi-def. That means miniDV and HDV, basically. In fact, the Canon HV camcorders are used by a number of the people on the Muvipix site and they love them! Affordable and excellent quality.
In fact, go over to the Muvipix forum and check out the camcorder forum there. I'm sure you'll find lots of good information and friendly advice.

  • How to import .avi xvid file in Premiere 11?

I just purchased Premiere 11, and it won't import an .avi xvid file.  The codec is installed as reported by G-Spot.  And the file imports to Win Movie Maker just fine.  Any known problems here?

  • Is microsoft avi the highest quality format to export an avi file in premiere pro cs4?

    Hello,
I exported an avi file in premiere pro cs4 in media encoder using Microsoft avi format but the quality turned out poor on dvd, what's the highest quality format I can use?
    Please help
    Thanks
    Elio

    Elio,
As has been stated, DV-AVI is not the format FOR a DVD-Video. However, it can be used (and often is) as a transport medium into a DVD authoring program, like Encore.
Can you please outline your workflow from PrPro to the final DVD, and is it a DVD-Video (will contain MPEG-2 material in VOB "containers"), or a DVD-Data, that is then played on a computer with something like Windows Media Player, VLC, MediaPlayer Classic HC, etc.?
Good luck, and please let us know exactly what you are doing, and the programs used.

  • Can't Import .avi xvid file with Premiere Elements 11

I just purchased Premiere 11, and it won't import an .avi xvid file. The codec is installed as reported by G-Spot. And the file imports to Win Movie Maker just fine. Any known problems here?
    Thanks

I have used Premiere Elements 11 for a few years and never had any problems with codecs, it ran .avi files fine, but then my hard drive started sending failure eminent warnings so I saved everything I could (for some reason I was never able to save a backup with my old system), I got a new hard drive, loaded a clean new Windows 7 install and built my system from there.
When I got to the Premiere Elements 11 and used it I noticed it came up with the "no codec for .avi" message that I had never seen before and would not play the same .avi movies that I had played with it hundreds of times before.
I was a little baffled so I went back and installed my old Premiere Elements 8 that I used to use and same codec message came up.
I remembered that I had some other video players installed on my old system so I went back and installed the old players one by one.
    1. Cyberlink PowerDVD from the original Dell install didn't fix the codec problem.....
    2. I had the "REAL" player on my old system so I installed it next and it didn't fix the codec problem....(The new "REAL" player live is a little to aggressive for me so I uninstalled it when it didn't fix my problem)
    3. I had Quicktime installed so I installed it again and BINGO, my Premiere Elements 11 now plays .avi files like it used to.
I won't guarantee it will work for everyone but the basic Quicktime player is free so it won't hurt to try it (And it definitely worked for me)

    Thanks

i am in the same boat. i have a canon G9 and automatically downloaded to iphoto without thinking. the videos i extracted seem to be .avi. what do i have to do to edit them in FCE4? i tried to convert them with prism, the video is messed up. i tried to put them into imovie instead, it won't let me do any effects on them. it's so confusing bc it lets the videos load in, or so i thought, but then it won't let me do anything to them? what do i do?

  • Alternative to roadmovie for converting avi files to ipod format.

    Hey all,
I am currently using roadmovie to convert my avi files to the ipod format. I like it, because it can do batch converts.
Unfortunately, when I put some files to be converted, it always crashes after the first one.
I was wondering if anyone knows a good alternative to roadmovie. I would like it to be able to do batch converts and add subtitles to my converted movies.
    Anyone a suggestion?
    Thanks

I do not know if it supports subtitle, but it does batch converting:

  • HT204382 I want to convert an .avi movie to a format where I can cut a DVD. I have OS X lion operating system

I want to convert an .ave movie to be able to create a dvd. What software do I need?      Thanks

Thanks Kappy, this helped. I was able to convert the .avi file to mp4 making it possible to view the movie. However, I was unable to burn it.  I downloaded a program called express burn from prism and was able to burn the .avi file to a dvd .vob. format.
If you are using a 4gb dvd you may have to change the setting to medium quality depending on the movie size. Hope this helps.

  • Convert DVD to AVI or other editable format?

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to convert DVD footage to AVI in production premium CS4? If its not can you recommend some good software to do this? I need to add a few clips to a dvd that has already been created by someone else.
    Thanks
    Holly

    Holly,
Either of the two above answers will satisfy your needs, depending on what you have (software version and also in the way of a DVD). If you would like a bit more background on .VOB's, this ARTICLE might give you some insight.
Harm made mention of the 100% DVD-compatibility. That can be a big gotcha, with some DVD's. Then, some form of ripping of the DVD is usually the only recourse. That is where Jim's rec. comes in.

  • How to convert avi H264 to a format that Premiere Pro CS6 will open

Premiere Pro will not open my video files, Media Encoder will only change to F4v and Premiere Pro wont open that either.
I noticed that when I start a "New" project the "Render choice is grayed out and will not allow me to choose.
What do I need to open these types of files?
    Thanks

H.264 will not work inside an AVI wrapper http://forums.adobe.com/thread/854115
-Insignia camera uses H.264 to either AVI... or SOME models to MOV wrapper
-so use the MOV wrapper if YOUR Insignia camera offers that option
-Says VLC will convert in reply #6 http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1172956

  • Apple TV Best Video Format & Converter

Hi, I'm considering getting myself an AppleTV instead of building an HTPC type box just to stream TV & my movies.
Basically I will have the always-on PC upstairs hardwired into my gigabit network, which will store all of my movies, TV shows, music etc. as well as hosting my printer. That PC is also the one I'll be using to sync my iPad & iPhones to.
Currently I use VLC streamer to play videos on my iDevices; and I could just Airpay the stream through to an AppleTV, but this ties up a device (to a extent), slows it down & drains its battery. Plus it would mean that if I started something, then wanted to go out with my device, it would screw up playback for my wife. Therefore I plan to get all of my library into h.264 format & imported into iTunes so the AppleTV can play it via home sharing.
So what I would like to know is what is my best option for conversion? Is there a format I would be best off downloading it in in the first place to make conversion easier/faster? I only have a 32" 720p TV, so full HD is unnecessary, but I would like to include the surround sound info so that in the future I can output the AppleTV's HDMI through a home theatre processor. Hopefully can keep the filesize up to around 1GB, maybe 1.5 max?

    Video formats supported
H.264 video up to 1080p, 30 frames per second, High or Main Profile level 4.0 or lower, Baseline profile level 3.0 or lower with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
MPEG-4 video up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format
    Audio formats supported
HE-AAC (V1), AAC (16 to 320 Kbps), protected AAC (from iTunes Store), MP3 (16 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3, and 4), Apple Lossless, AIFF, and WAV; Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound pass-through
    Photo formats
    JPEG, GIF, TIFF.
It's impossible to suggest a converter without knowing the compression type used for audio and video in the source material, perhaps you can provide that information.
