AVL excel inplace

Hello,
I am can also display data in an Excel view. The data is transferred to Excel and displayed there in an Excel sheet within the window instead of the grid. The ALV Grid Control toolbar is still visible and you can use its functions in the Excel view in my computer. But when it is run in another different equipment not it generates. It open Excell with each Shets but the data do not displayed.
Any guide to solve to this problem.

To create the template you do:
1) Run the report.
2) When you see the result (the AVL GRID report), you go to change layout - the view tab - mark the excel radio button, choose template sap_om.xls by double click and press enter.
3) Now you see the report as 'excel Inplace'
4) In the excel menu you choose 'Save as' to save your file - and now you have a template ready to be modified.
Try to modify template :
1) The template has 15 sheets (Format, Header, Pivot etc. etc.) - don't delete any of these! (If you do the template won't work) (I would normally call these sheets 'tabs', but in excel they are sheets of an excel-book).
2) Add your own sheet or sheets
3) In your own sheet you make links to the data in the standard sheets Format or RawData.
You now have and modified template. In your own sheet you can add any formatting or calculations you want. Finally to clean the template I would clear the contents of the standard sheets Format and RawData
you can upload the template :
Refer the Oss note 358644 and 548409
You will have to build your own templates by creating modified copies of the SAP standard templates SAP_OM.XLS and SAP_MM.XLS. If you can find these see note 316728 to copy them from client 000.
You will have to work with transaction OAOR to administrate the templates and program BC_BDS_UPLOAD to upload new templates.
And finally run the report and choose the new layout instead of sap_om.xls.

in order to show my alv data in an excel format, with 'excel inplace' option, this sheet appears empty. However, if i choose to download the data into a excel file, it appears right.

Implement OSS Note 782922 - Excel Inplace: Header Sheet contains garbage characters.
This will require installation of SAP GUI Patch Level 8.
Also , You can try be installing SAP GUI with all options checked.

Excel Inplace - Update SAP R/3 tables from Excel Data

Hi,
I developed a report displaying using Excel inplace. After user finished editing the Excel workingsheet, I called method get_ranges_data of interface I_OI_SPREADSHEET to get data contents. But this method or almost all the methods of this interface requires user hit a enter key after edit a cell. Without hit a enter key or click different cell, this method will not be able to get any data contents.
Is there a way I can force a user click or enter event?
An example is apprieciated.

I have not tested this, but you might try the following.
The inline excel should be created from a template. And in the excel VB code should exists which call a customer event in Workbook_SheetChange. This code is executed each time a change occurs on the worksheet.
so in you r worksheet you should have the following code:
Private Sub Workbook_SheetChange(ByVal Sh As Object, _
ByVal Source As Range)
' runs when a sheet is changed
Call ThisWorkbook.Container.SendCustomEvent("DATA_CHANGE")
End Sub
this event you can catch in SAP, and reread the data from excel.
so now each change in excel triggers an event in SAP.
Not sure it works, but worth a try.

ALV report in Excel inplace

In my system, when i open ALV report in Excel inplace. Excel opens report but button "Close and Return to ALV (1)" and "Exit excel" is disabled, how can it appear enabled?
When i press key "ALT+TAB" excel menus and icons desapear, and when press "/" SAP menus appear in strange mode.
If Excel is open in windows with one worksheet before open Excel in SAP ALV inplace, sometimes an error occured.

ALV Grid in Excel-inplace

Hi,
I am having a report which is being shown in ALV grid. I am having one checkbox in selection-screen namely 'Excel Inplace'.If this checkbox is checked then report should be shown in excel-inplace format.
Please guide me how to achieve this.
I am having below constraints:
1. Here I can't save variant in excel-inplace format and use it while execution, because user can save other variants too(may be with less fields) and use it.
2. I have copied the standard program RFBILA10 and modifying according to my needs. This program is using FM 'REUSE*. So going for ABAP-OO will be difficult here.

You need to use method SET_VIEW_EXCEL.
Call this right after SET_TABLE_FOR_FIRST_DISPLAY.

ALV to Excel inplace and return issue High

Folks;
I have delveloped and ALv program that uses standard SAP access to EXCEL inplace but also contains the selection button process to allow individual line items to be selected to be used for another process within the report.
I can click the Excel Icon and the ALV report downloads and displays properly in Excell inplace. The isue starts, when I manipulate the data in Excel inplace (sort data, sum totals and then display only sums) then click on VIEWS -> SAP LIST Viewer.
This causes one of three conditions to occur;
Either their system will lockup, cancels out all SAP sessions and leave Excel running in the background without any indication that it is still running, or the system will cause a dump.
I even tried with the SAP ddemo program BCALV_TEST_FULLSCREEN_LAYOUT and the same thing occurs with SAP programs.
Has anyone run accross this and found a solution? SAP Notes does not appear to have anything on this.

I can reproduce what you say.
Maybe the problem is not from SAP, but from Excel. If you check the windows tasks (CTRL + ALT + DEL) and windows tasks, you will see that CPU is dedicated to Excel. If you finish the Excel process, then you get a blank screen in SAPGUI, and the transaction locked, but you can cancel transaction.
Sorry for not giving a solution, but is just a clue.

Still no data in Excel InPlace

Hi.
No data is being displayed when I use the Excel view in an ALV from 'REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY', but this is not the usual problem.
I have the recommended settings in Excel in Tools > Macro > Security.
The View tab of Change Layout in the ALV lists the templates sap_om.xls and sap_mm.xls.
Trying Excel InPlace for different users and different PCs seems to show that the problem lies with the PC and not the user.
I have re-installed Excel and SAPgui on my PC, but the fault remains.
My SAPgui is 6.20 patch level 42.
My Excel is 2002 SP-2.
What could be the problem?

I have a possible answer to my own question.
I have re-installed my Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows Workstations software.
It is now version 5.0.712. I don't know what it was before.
Now when I try to use Excel InPlace, I get a Kaspersky dialog box four times, warning about a potentially dangerous macro, and advising me not to execute it. If I allow the execution of each macro, then Excel InPlace works.
So it seems possible that Excel InPlace was not working before because my anti-virus software was silently preventing the execution of the macros.
Can anyone confirm that this can happen?

Manipulating data in Excel inplace via ALV grids

Hi everybody,
I want to create a report which displays data in an Excel file (Excel inplace).
To solve the problem I have created a custom layout and uplodaded it via the report BCALV_BDS_MAINTENANCE to the BDS. The written report loads the data into an ALV grid, opens Excel inplace and displays the data in the custom layout. This works fine but for one exception: You can only upload an internal table to the ALV grid, consequently no additional information about the selected data itself (e.g. given by a custom selection screen) can be presented in the grid. What I need is a way which adds strings to the excel file not in an internal table.
Is there a way to to this? Is this possible with ALV grids or do I have to use OLE?

wa_header-typ = 'S'.
wa_header-info = 'Text goes in here'.   <<<<<
APPEND wa_header TO t_header.
CLEAR wa_header.
CALL FUNCTION 'REUSE_ALV_COMMENTARY_WRITE'
       EXPORTING
            it_list_commentary = t_header.
ENDFORM.
This will add header to your ALV.
Execute the program again and open the same in excel. you will now see the strings/text in the layout.

Excel inplace (ALV) with Excel 2010

Hi,
we have changed our workstation to windows 7 and Office 2010. Now i have a problem
with excal inplace of ALV. When i switch to excel inplace I don't find any way to save or save as the excel.
The button "datei" isn't activ.
Has anyone an idea?
We use GUI 720 patch 4.

A simple workaround working is to "Customize the Quick Access Toolbar" in Excel 2010 itself from the File (Backstage) menu. add the "Save As" icon which carried forward in SAPGUI Excel inplace and now users can at least choose where to save their work as needed.

Load ALV with Excel Inplace view

Hi.
I'm looking for a way to set the ALV so it will display as Excel-inplace view when it first comes up.
As far as I know this is not possible.

Actually, the solution to this issue is in the Layout strructure. There is a field called "FRONTEND", which is a flag that controls the "View" options.
I had to do some digging to find out that the Excel Inplace option is "E".

No "file - send to" with excel inplace

In excel (Version excel 97) I can send files via "file - send to - email" which starts my email client and attaches the xls file to the mail.
When I use excel inplace in an abap program this option is not available. I still can see it, but it is grey and I cannot choose it
Is it possible to activate this options? I use the methods of desktop office integration to get excel inplace and fill it with data (i_oi_container_control, i_oi_document_proxy, i_oi_spreadsheet).

Leaving excel Inplace, the excel session is still active

I all,
I use the Excel Inplace method to format data in PivotTables. I use a template based on sap_MM.xls with the procedure Public Sub ALV_CUS_Exit (). It is working correctly.
My problem happens when I leave the transaction and return to the initial screen. The excel session is still active causing blockages in the Excel application itself
I looked at the OSS note 122539: it describes functions which do not yet exist in the SAP delivery for certain events. I have tried those functions with the SAP declaration like :
public sub customer_workbook_deactivate()
Me.Application.Quit
End Sub
Either I use the wrong syntax or I do not set the code in the correct place of the VBA project, I have never activated these functions while leaving the screen excel inplace.
Can you guide me to a solution ?

Fewer than expected group outlines after display Excel inplace ALV

After upgrade 4.6 to ECC, I save alv grid layout with sorting and total function . If you switch to the Excel inplace display in ALV, the system displays an "group outlines" option in only first page (nearly 14 groups) . But the next page cannot group the same data in 1 value and no yellow color in subtotal lines

ALV switch to Excel inplace & return

Hello.
I've developed a program that outputs information in ALV format.
From there, I'm able to navigate to Excel inplace and the information is displayed as expected.
My Requirement/problem is to make changes in Excel, save them & return to ALV with all information changes too.
The Save button is available in Excel but the option "Close and return to ALV (1)" is inactive from Excel side.
I can navigate back to Abap List Viewer from SAP menu options but I loose all changes made from Excel side.
Can anyone please help in this matter?

Copy all rows and columns in Excel. Navigate back to the ALV. Delete all ALV content. Paste clipboad content copied from Excel into the ALV.

Excel inplace, fill excel templates

Hey everybody!
Do anyone have documentation or links to it how to fill in templates and mayby abap code examples about exporting data and making kind of headers and footers in Excel inplace from ALV?
I have sap_om.xls and sap_mm.xls, but they are empty when I push 'export to excel' buttom. I couldn't find the way how to reference data from ALV or from abap report to Excel inplace. Maybe I have to fill any exact internal tables to export information (like 'xxx_data_table' or something).

Hope you have Excel installed on the PC. THis excel view displays the data you have in the excel workbook instead of the display of tabular display in SAP. YOu can save these files and use them for any purpose.
Also you can get more about this on SAP help with string "displaying data in excel inplace view".
