Avoid page break in back ground execution of report

Hi Friends,
Normally when we execute any report in back ground it will have page break. eg: FL3N
But we dont see this in foreground execution of a report.
may i know how to avoid this page break when we execute in background.
Thanks in advance
NNS

Hi Badari,
when you set the Background Job via <b>SM36</b>, you can mention the Variant. and set the time , so that the report will run for every 5 minutes with the mentioned variant. Check it.

  • How to suppress the back-ground execution of a query in design mode

    hi guys,
there is a bahaviour of the system, that I'd like to change. So, when we
    1. start EXCEL
    2. go to the designer mode to create a report
    3. first drop an InfoProvider (e query) into a cell,
    4. second - pull e.g a filter element into another cell, still being in the design mode.
Just in this moment, the query itself has been already started in the back groud, aiming to fill the cache, I guess.
Does anyone know how to suppress the back-ground execution? I'd like to control, when to start the reports execution.
    Thanks in advance.
    Neven

    Hello,
There is no way to do that if you are creating thru BEx Analyzer.
Instead use the BEx Analyzer, try to create using directly BEx Query Designer.
In that way, the query will not be executed, until you want to...
    Thank you

    Hi,
When you view the output from the report run in batch you are presumably looking at the spool output.  Because you are viewing a preview of what is sent to the printer the spool applies page breaks based on the printer parameters.  When you run the report in dialog you view the report on the screen, and the spool is not involved, so no page breaks.
If you print your report in dialog then review the spool you'll find it has the page break just as the background run has.

  • How to avoid page break in row other that the option "Avoid page break"

    Hi Experts
Is there any way to avoid a row to be broken or extended to other page. "Avoid page break" option can not be used as it creates a lots of white spaces.

If it is related to visibility you can choose Draft Mode or change the Page size.

  • Page break at the end of a report

    Hello,
I am using Report Builder (Developer Suite 9.2) to generate a text file.
The problem is that, at the end of the generated file, there is a "strange" character (^L = page break).
How can I avoid to have this character at the end of the file?
I generate the report using the following parameters:
    DESFORMAT = dflt
    DESTYPE = File
    MODE = Character
    Can you help me?
    Thanks.
    Raffy

I see the same now. I created a simple report in 9iDS and ran it on the command line:
    C:\>c:\ora9ids\bin\rwrun module=module1 userid=un/pw@mydb desformat=dflt destype=file desname=c:\temp\output mode=character
At the end of the report there is a hexadecimal C, which is the form feed character.
I know that when you use mode=character reports searches for a printer definition file. You can find this in the online help:
When the MODE is CHARACTER, DESFORMAT specifies a printer definition, such as hpl, hplwide, dec, decwide, decland, dec180, dflt, or wide.
Check the printer definition file. I never worked with these files, so I can't help you there.

  • Page break not applying when using sub report inside main report

I have a main report inside which there is subreport (using SQL Server 2012). I placed some page breaks inside subreport but they were not working. I read on technet forums that this is a a known issue with SSRS.
One solution I found is to put a table inside main report, then in first row add a rectangle and set its property "Add a page break after" and then add subreport after this rectangle in that table in main report. I did that and now in some cases
it does show sub report on a separate page but sometimes it shows subreport on same page.
Could it be because in some case sub report has no or less data (hence it cannot cover whole page) and in that case it will always show on one page? How can I show empty subreport on a separate page?

I fixed it by clicking both "Add a page break before" and "Add a page break after" in rectangle.

  • Add page break to tables in a section report

I have one sectioned report when I export to excel I can manually add page breaks so that different regions print on a seperate page. However I want to do this in webi.
In webi when i highlight the table in the section that i want to have on a seperate page the break icon is greyed out so not sure if its possible to add breaks to a report that contains only 1 section? if so how to do it?

    hi,
I think your requirement is to display each table on a separate page.
If so, then select the table in section, Go to properties tab, Check the option 'Start on new Page'.
Now each sectioned table will be displayed in each page.

  • Page Break does not work in PDF report when deployed to App Server

I have a report with a PAGE Break before on a repeating frame that holds a matrix report. In reports designer on the PC, the report correctly shows the page break. When deployed to the app server, the report shows the page after the break superimposed on top of the page before the break.
The report has a repeating frame that spans both pages and holds the header information (page 1), and the matrix report (page 2).
Any suggestions on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

Crystal Reports Designer 2008 and Business Objects Enterprise XI release 2 are not in the same suite release. You should use Crystal Reports Designer XI release 2 to connect BOE XIr2.

  • Back Ground Execution

    Hi,
I have created a report program.when i execute in Background it is failing since i have raised error message in case of no o/p.My requirement is to show error message when i execute in forground and it shld also complete it's background execution.
    regards,
    raghav

In foreground your report still executed after the error message..?
I am not sure.., if it is error message then it stops executing the program. the same applies to Background also. if you want to continue in background execution then you may have to use sy-batch
    if sy-batch = 'X'.
    message information
    else.
    message error.
    endif.

  • Back ground processing in Reports

I need to prepare a report, it contains Selection Screen. This report  has to run in both foreground and in background. There is no option provided in selection
screen to ideentify whether it runs in Foreground or in Background. In report I need to provide logic so that the report has to run in background if it set for background processing.
How to write logic for this. can anybody suggest.

  • ALV Grid in back ground

Hi friends,  i got some problem in alv grid while i am running it in back ground.
my report contains some currency(amount)  field in out put. when i am removing the amount field it is good result in back ground. but when it consist of amount field it is giving error. it indicating some string length problem. and error analysis as follows.
    Error analysis
    In statement
       "STRLEN( obj )..."
the argument "obj" can only take a character-type data object.
In this case, the operand "obj" has the non-character type "P".
pls tell me can't we run amount field in back ground. if  s  how to solve my error. pls give me some ideas.
                                      Kumar.

    Hi
Many a times there is a requirement to display ALV Grid (not ALV List) in the background Job. I have checked the SDN Forum for the same and it has been mentioned that ALV Grid cannot be displayed in Background, but the list output of ALV is possible. So user won’t have the actual Grid interface but the List interface.
There is a workaround to display ALV Grid in Background Job. The only restriction is you can’t schedule the job through SM36. You need to execute the transaction of the report program, fill in the selection screen data and hit Execute.
The job would be executed in background. User will be able to see the Job Log and Job Status after executing the program. User doesn’t have to go to SM37 to view the job status/log. Once the Job Status is changed to “COMPLETED”, user can click on “DISPLAY SPOOL” to view the ALV Grid.

  • How can i know about the page breaks that occur in excel sheet during report gen

    Hello,
I am trying to generate an Excel report with a large number of columns. and i am facing the problem of some of the columns not fitting into the page due to the page break. as a result, these columns are being printed at the end of the report. I would like to add the Row and Column headers to the remaining of the columns so that it is easy to recognise as to which table they belong to. i would like to know if there is any method to find out when the page break occurs in the excel sheet, along with the last printed column number, so that it would be easy for me to add the Row and Column headers before the next row/column is printed.
    Thank You
    Regards
    Tweetz.

    Hi Tweetz,
I have tried to find a way to do what you are asking, but have been unsuccessful.  However, you can control where the page breaks occur by using the "New Report Page.vi".  You can call this VI after appending the table to the report, and specify the cell where you wish to insert a new page break (using the "position" or "name" elements of the "MS office parameters" input).  If you know the page size and you specify the column widths, you should be able to pick reasonable places to start a new page.
    I hope that helps!

  • Back ground running of Standard reports

    Hi,
I have some requirement in report processing. I need to run(in back ground) statndard structure reports for project def, WBS and activities and CM51 and CJI3. Then output should be saved in predefined folder in an excel format. The whole process of running and saving the report should be automated. And this job has to be run every night.
I have checked the option of running in back ground for structure reports but variant selection and saving in destination folder should be automated. I could not find the option of running CM51 in back ground.
    Appreciate help in this regard
    Regards,
    Laxminarsimha

You can try running of the program in the background - you will need to create a background job with the correct selection and display variants.
Go to SE93 and check the program
e.g. from SE93 enter CJI3 you will see the program is RKPEP003
now create a background job for this program with correct variants
Do the same for the other transaction
