Avoid playlists to be stolen...

Long time premium user and playlist maker and used to post them as well on my dedicated website as at http://playlists.net, I had the surprise to find on this site a playlist with another title BUT with exactly the same songs and the same order than in a playlist I had spent many hours to create some weeks before.
Question is : Is it possible to find a way to avoid that anybody else than the creator/owner of a playlist can be able to drag the songs from a playlist to another ?
For now its not possible to change the order of songs in a playlist made by another member but it's always possible to highlight and drag the songs elsewhere.
Thats not a fair way to act. Then in that case better to give that possibility to drag the songs only to the playlist creator.

  • Does anyone have a way to physically secure the black apple TV against theft?

I own a Hostel, and have just recently bought my second apple TV because the first one got stolen last year from the TV area.... unfortunately the device doesn't have the normal computer 'lock' hole physically designed into it, so I'm not sure what I can do to help avoid getting this one stolen as well.
Any ideas?... has anyone else even given this some thought? I did a google search about the topic and came up absolutely empty. I'm pretty surprised as I was definitely expecting to find some sort of creative solution... but again, nothing! >.<
    Thanks ahead of time!

I actually posted a month or so ago on the UK forum about the apple tv lock I got, and it was one of the best things I ever bought. I got it from Maclocks, and i have not stopped talking about it to anyone I meet. I think this is exactly what you are looking for, its even in black. Not sure if this product was around when you posted it back in 2012, but you should definitely snatch it up now (if you are still looking;). Its the Apple TV Security Mount, and the site also had a youtube video to instruct us how to set it up. I just posted yesterday something from this company, I was wondering if their iPadAir Lock was any good, so if you have any experience with one let me know!

All I want to know is if I can get that information and what do I have to do
Obviusly then just contact the person who bought it for you or the wireless provider to which is was used with?  if you can't do either then you're out of luck.  This doesn't sound legit at all, given the fact that your name won't be on the bill.

  • My laptop was stolen and all my music is on my iPod Classic. How can I transfer it to my new computer and keep the playlists and such?

    Hey Everyone,
My apartment was broken into and my laptop was stolen which had my entire iTunes library.  I have it all on my iPod Classic now which was with me at the time.
What do you suggest as the best tool to transfer the music FROM my iPod to to my new computer?  I know there are some programs out there, what have you had success with?
My most important question is, is there a way to retain my library and especially playlists as it is (instead of copying over a massive bunch of songs)?  Most of my music is from music blogs, mixtapes and underground artists so most of it cannot be found in the iTunes store.
    Thanks for any help guys!
    Vlad.

  • Stolen laptop, now need to recover smart playlists... how?

My Powerbook was stolen. I've received a replacement, and used Senuti to recover the music back onto my laptop. However, I spent a ton of time creating smart playlists, and really don't want to do it all over again. Senuti allows me to copy the smart playlists, but they lose their 'intelligence' and become regular playlists. Is there anything out there that will transfer and preserve the smart playlists? Thanks - and I hope Apple doesn't remove this posting, this is legit, shoot me an email and I'll send you the police report.

If you're copying tracks back from your iPod, the iPod knows nothing about Smart Playlists, since these are handled in iTunes, which is why Senuti copies them back as ordinary Playlists.
Unless you've got a backup of your iTunes Music Library.xml file you're out of luck. It's this .xml file that holds the definitions of the Smart Playlists.

  • Way to avoid moving duplicates into a playlist?

    Howdy -
I'm looking for a way to avoid moving duplicates into a playlist. If I have an established playlist, and I come across another song I'd like to add, I just drop it in there. If the song already exists in the playlist, the playlist happily accepts it with no warning. Is there some way to turn on a warning? (This is a duplicate of a song you already have in your playlist. Add it anyway? YES NO).
I do realize that I can scan the playlist for duplicates after the fact, but it would be quite a bit handier to have iTunes alert me when I attempt to add a song that's already there. I wonder what percentage of the time a user would WANT the duplicate song in a playlist? I can see the value of it sometimes, certainly. And in that instance, you'd just say YES to the warning box (or select to never have it ask). Maybe this is a problem that's unique to me, but as I slowly build my playlist over many days, weeks and months - this feature would be very handy. My memory ain't what it used to be.
    Thanks.

Well, there you go. Sure enough, 7.5 (the latest version today) does exactly what I'm looking for. What were the odds of that? Thank you very much for taking the time to reply... and having the answer! Solved.

  • I am considering taking my MacBook on an overseas vacation. Am I exposed to identity theft if it is stolen and is there anything to do to avoid this?

I am considering taking my MacBook on an overseas vacation. Am I exposed to identity theft if it is stolen and is there anything to do to avoid this?

    >Am I exposed to identity theft if it is stolen<
I think you are in danger of theft even if you are in this country. There are many ways to protect your MacBook from theft but be aware that nothing is absolute.
This is a good overview of hardware options:
    http://theandy.hubpages.com/hub/Protect-Your-Retina-Macbook-Pro-MacBook-Air-From -Theft-Part-1-Kensington-lock-alternatives
    and software:
    http://theandy.hubpages.com/hub/Protect-Your-Retina-Macbook-Pro-MacBook-Air-From -Theft-Part-2-Data-Protection-Tracing-A-Stolen-Computer
Of course remove all personal information from your MacBook and use passwords as noted.
Remove all links to personal accounts that you won't absolutely be needing on your trip.
Depending on your insurance provider it might be possible to extend your coverage just for your vacation. If it were me I might think of pulling my current hard drive and reinstalling a bare bones drive that doesn't have all my normal links to bank accounts, PayPal et al.

My computer was stolen; fortunately other posts informed me how to restore my music from my ipod to my computer (I'm grateful).
I am now wondering if it is possible to also restore my libary with the details regarding number of plays, playlists, rating etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

*i am confused as to the difference between a Library and a Playlist. There is only one "Library", right? There are multiple playlist*
The library is everything you have in iTunes, a playlist is just a series of links to items that are in the library. A song or movie can appear once in the library but can be linked to many different playlists.
*Why should i have to keep files i already have on the Touch/ATV in my playlist/Library?*
Your library is your backup so that if anything happens to your iPod for instance and you have to restore it to correct a problem you still have the original files to put back on.

So, if I have an Ipod with all this music and I start a new iTunes on a new computer this will just erease all of my music and I start from scratch?? it sound so unfair. I still have that Ipod, is 3 generation I think, I have hopes all that music is in there somewhere.

  • Avoid random play in certain playlists or genres

Does anyone have any ideas how to do this without having to go into settings and do it. I would like to have itunes leave certain genres and albums in order. Books for example which are broken into mp3 parts should not be randomized.

what you need is to go to the section (playlist) and play, e.g. go to artist (The Beatles), you should able to play all The Beatles songs in shuffle

I know how to get the entire library to shuffle on the Nano. I [think I] have the Nano set to shuffle within a given playlist, but the order of the shuffling is always the same. I have tried turning off/on "shuffle songs" but the Nano maintains the same order within a given playlist.
    Any suggestions?

  • How to avoid the same songs being selected by Genius playlists

I love iTunes Genius for making play lists, but I am annoyed by the fact that some songs are chosen again and again. For some reason "16 by 32" by the Decemberists pulled nearly every time I make a Genius playlist even though I've never chosen to play the track directly. Amazingly, it has racked up 150% of the plays of the next closest track that I actively listen to. Is there some way to have Genius ignore tracks or artists entirely without removing them from my iTunes library? Are there any ways to tweak Genius to provide a better sampling of tracks rather than the same old same old?
    thanks,
    Derek

You can uncheck the little check box to the left of track's name.
This will mean iTunes always skips it unless you specifically select it. It has other side effects too.

  • How to block an iPad , it had been stolen yesterday and I need to erase or block, to avoid them to enter to my information. c

    Help please !!

If you are running iOS 7 on the iPad, and you have Find My iPhone enabled on the iPad, then you can go to iCloud.com and under the Find My iPhone app, erase the iPhone. This will result in the iPad no longer being tracked by Find My iPhone, but the Activation Lock will remain in place. So, if the person who stole it attempts to restore it or to set it up, they will run into the Activation Lock and not be able to proceed:
