Avoid to delete 2 messages on one fn+Backspace press?

I work on PowerBook 15" and didn't have Delete key.
So I use fn+Backspace to make a forward delete or delete message from Mail.app. But sometimes (uhm... often enought to stop using keyboard) Mail.app deletes 2 message. One I want to and next one. If I use toolbar icon - this never happens.
I have
IMAP mailbox,
Key repeat rate = Fast,
Delay until repeat = third tick from Short (but belive me - I press fn+Backspace VERY fast )))),
Mail.app 2.0.7 (746.2/750),
Mac OS X 10.4.6 (8I127)
what else may be interesting?

Without deleting message:
"Move to next message in thread--Down Arrow key
Move to previous message in thread--Up Arrow key"
From Mail Help.
To be safe, then continue to use the "Delete" toolbar icon to delete your messages. That would be safer for you.
You might set your Key Repeat Rate at a lower setting instead of at Fast. The Delay rate sounds OK. You might just try slowing down a bit over all, thereby making fewer keyed stumbles. Sometimes working the keyboard too fast, can cause mistakes that we would not normally encounter if we worked it at a slower rate, and having fewer mistakes. Just a though. <)$:~) <br>

  • In email (gmail) when I delete a message in my Inbox the next time I open mail all of the items I deleted come back into my Inbox. How do I delete them permanently?

In email (gmail) when I delete a message in one of my email accounts inbox and then close email, the next time I open email for that account all of the deleted messages reappear in my inbox. My email settings are to move all deleted messages to Trash upon closing email but but that doesn't work in one of my email accounts. It works fine in another gmail account I have. How do I get rid of the emails I wish to delet permanantly?

I am wondering if anyone is seeing my question? This is my first time and I am not sure if I am communicating correctly. If you are seeing the question above regading deleted messages reappearing please reply so I will at least know I am getting the message out.

  • How can I delete a message without opening an adjacent one?

Before Yosemite you could delete a message from Mail.app without opening an adjacent message by holding option and clicking the garbage can.
However, in Yosemite, there doesn't seem to be a way to delete a message without opening (and setting the message's status to "read") an adjacent message.
I often don't have time to read all the messages in my Inbox so I'll quickly read some important ones and I'll leave the others as "unread" to get back to later in the day. Yosemite Mail doesn't seem to support this workflow anymore…
Anyone know a workaround; short of manually setting a messages status back to "unread"?

Ok, I'm answering my own question.  I made up a fake user name to get into my Palm Desktop and deleted profiles.  Then I went in with real user name.  All of my calendar entries were gone, but fortunately within the last month I had HotSynced and was able to HotSync again to get it back from my handheld.  I think I need a blackberry.  This stuff happens way too often.

How to delete my 500 messages at one time without selecting one by one?

Could you break this down for me more specifically?  Hit menu after I've gotten into my email?  I don't see delete in the menu (only the box to the left of the actual email itself).  Thanks for any help!!

  • Is there a way to delete a message, iMessage, or notification which goes to multiple devices by just deleting it on one device?

I use a Mac Pro at work, a Mac Air in the home office, an iPhone 4S, and an iPad. I love being able to start a message somewhere and continue it on another device, and I love notifications; however, when I finish my conversation or have read a SMS or gotten a Facebook notification and read it or gotten a reminder, I delete them. Is there a way to delete my message, iMessage, notification or reminder on one device and have them wiped on all my devices. I hate having to delete messages from every device I own on each device individually. Am I missing something?
    Thanks,

Click "Edit" in the upper left of the Messages app.  Then start clicking each of the messages.  You can scroll the list.  It actually will proceed quite quickly.

  • How do I delete email messages permanently in mail on Mac OS x 7 in one step

I am used to MS Outlook where I can press shift-delete and delete them permanently in one step.  On my Mac, I am currently deleting mail which puts it in the trash folder then I have to go through it and delete them again to permanently get rid of them.  There must be some short cut for the Mac that I don't know about.

You really don't have to go through the trash folder (unlesss you want to check it) - going to the File menu > Mailbox and choose to erase deleted items in all accounts (or use the key command shown).

  • How do I flag and DELETE all messages in my IN basket -- Seems that if I delete them one by one they still indicate being there even if there are NO messages

When I retrieve mail and delete the message I still see the message count even if all of the messages are gone

I had tried that and it appeared to select nothing, so I got thrown off. But yes, I should have tried the delete button at that point. Then delete the swatch, then copy it all and paste it into a new file. The paste-in is my primitive way of confirming what's actually there. I'm sure there are more elegant ways.
    Thanks, guys.

Only by restoring a backup can you retrieve them.

  • How to delete all messages in a mailbox?

Is there a way to delete several/all emails from a mailbox. Surely I do not have to delete each one manually....
From a very happy user in the UK!

that's correct, you cannot delete multiple messages at once. once deleted and in order to avoid deleting messages one by one, you can manage the behavior of your trash folder by selecting the option to delete once a day or once a week.
furthermore, if you have set up an imap account, as opposed to a pop account, managing your emails in your various folders will be easier as any changes you make on your email account on your computer will also be reflected on your iphone - that is if you delete multiple emails on your computer, those changes will also occur once you access the same email account on your iphone.

  • Deleting multiple messages

I have a Macbook Pro, I now have Mountain Lion. Previously with Snow Leopard to delete from mail a group of messages from one source, you just scrolled down all the messages - it to a couple of seconds - and then press delete - easy! Why now do you have to click on every message - it is cumbersome and takes time and I am therefore not erasing my emails - and keep getting messages that my inbox is full!
Please can someone give me a simple explanation of how I can multi delete - and if not can someone from Apple explain why they took this simple but useful task away when they created Mountain Lion. In fact I find the whole Mountain Lion mail display system over complicated and having used it now for several months I still hate it and still dont understand it. It may be great for people who are computer savy but for the likes of me it is awful.
    Thanks!

Many thanks for your swift reply, however clicking on every message is what I want to avoid it is far too time consuming. Is there not a way that I can scroll down (as with Leopard) highlighting all the messages (sometimes there are up to 20) rather than clicking each one individually. If there is not why did Apple choose to remove this? It was obviously used a lot, as many people are now asking how they can delete multiple messages.

  • HT4528 How do you delete 'SAVED MESSAGES' on iPhone 5s

How do you delete 'SAVED MESSAGES' on iPhone 5s?  It's taking up about 10GB of 32 GB capacity.

After much searching on the web and reading many (sometimes amusing) posts on this topic here is what I have found.
In Settings>General>Usage my saved mesages were using 3.2Gb and no apparently immediate way of deleting them.
However as the good book says "seek and ye shall find".
SO this is where I went:
Settings>iCloud>Account> then scroll down to ADVANCED and select Mail; again scroll down to the bottom and select Advanced and yet again scroll to the bottom (well at least to DELETED MESSAGES) and tap on the line called Remove.
Here at last you will find a setting that enables you to select the period after which iOS will remove your deleted messages.
The shortest period is one day so you will haev to wait 24 hours to finally have that memory back but it should work and is a nice feature in iOS although it is well burried!!
