Avoiding a bridge too far on new Mac

I have Design Standard CS4 and the upgrade to CS5. I'd like to install CS5 on a new Mac, but also install InDesign CS4 from the previous suite (since I may still need the older version). To do this I was planning to first install CS4 on the new machine, selecting only InDesign CS4 in the installer, and then installing the CS5 applications (including InDesign CS5) separately. I only want to end up with one version of Bridge, namely Bridge CS5.
However, in the CS4 install it seems like it's impossible to uncheck Bridge when you choose which components to install. So I'm wondering what's the correct way to get to what I'm after?
Apologies if this has been asked before - I thought it might have been but couldn't see any previous threads on the subject.

Although you can have only one version of Bridge active at the same time you
can use all other applications without any problems together. For instance
having both the CS4 and CS5 InDesign open and active is possible.
It is also no problem to have both CS4 and CS5 version of Bridge installed
on one system, the only downside is that it takes a little extra space.
If space is an issue you can always decide to uninstall some components from
the CS4 suite after you have done the default install.
For me it would be preferable to use the default installation for the whole
suite in one time instead of separate install for each application but that
is up to you. Also preferable to first install the CS4 suite and after that
the CS5 version.

CS5 prints too light using new Mac, perfect from older Mac?
Images edited w. Photoshop CS5 (v. 12.03) on a Mac running OS 10.6.8 print perfectly on my Epson Stylus Pro 3880. But the same files printed from a newer Mac running OS 10.7.4 and Photoshop CS5 (v12.1) print too light. Exact same printer settings in PS being used, same printer driver version (reinstalled to make sure not a bad driver), using the same .icc paper profile (also reinstalled), and using same batch of paper printed at same time.
Where do I start in determining the problem? Epson confirms driver is compatible. Everything else on the new system with PS works great. Gallery show in three weeks, must figure this out quick. are you sure which one is actually wrong
do they display identical in both OSes
are both versions of Ps using the same embedded profile, did you confirm that -
Clarity slider in camera raw disappeared when I installed CS3 Bridge on my new mac laptop
I have recently installed CS3 bridge on to my new mac book pro and when I went into camera raw to edit photos, the clarity slider has dissappeard.
I had bridge intall on my previous laptop, the same one, and the clarity slider was there.
I have tryed up dates but they have made no differance.
I'm running 2.0.0.975

DebThat's an obsolete, super-buggy version of Bridge, but the clarity slider should not have disappeared, of course.
You should be at Bridge 2.1.1.9.
Try updating to Bridge 2.1.1.9 in the hope that the updater fixes your bad install, but if that doesn't do it, you're going to have to re-install from scratch.
Of course, your new MacBook Pro must have come with Mountain Lion 10.6.8, which so far has proven to be one Apple's worst OS offerings, and there so guarantee that CS3, even with its updates. will work well with new OS.

Adobe Bridge CC very slow on New Mac Pro
Im running both Bridge CC (6.1.0.115) and CS6 on my New Mac Pro
the Bridge CC is obviously slower than Bridge CS6.
CC also very easy to get the spinning ball every click on Bridge CC, very annoying.
Also Im using Dell 4K monitor, If I load monitor size preview will be really slow, even on the New Mac Pro. is there any way We can set a specific size of the preview? which can speedup the preview loadingIf you go to the menu File > Project Settings > General and set the Renderer to Software Only, any change?

I installed CS3 Design premium upgrade yesterday onto my new mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.1. You gave me a new serial number. I have been able to open Photoshop, Bridge, Dreamweaver and Flash. The Illustrator, Indesign and Acrobat applications are not in my applications folder although there are folders in there with those names containing associated items. How can this have happened and what can I do?

I have a new mac. I installed my Bridge CS4 and Photoshop CS4 that I ran on my old mac. When I import RAW pics from my Nikon D90 they come in with the extension of .NEF. Apparently this is not a readable form for Bridge as the picture does not appear. I believe I need a converter to convert .NEF to .dng but I can't find one. Any ideas?
You do not need to convert to DNG.
The NEFs from your camera model have been supported since ACR 4.6 and 5.1.
What you need to do is update your ACR plug-in to version 5.7, the latest and last version for CS4. Right now, you are probably on ACR 5.0, the version supplied with the original release of Photoshop CS4.
Be aware that the Adobe updater is extremely unreliable when it comes to CS5, so that you must do the update manually. There are detailed instructions on the ACR 5.7 plug-in download page. You MUST follow those instructions to the letter.

I am considering buying a new MAC laptop to run LOGIC for composition and band live/recording, but which one is best as I do not want to spend too much money?
Does it have a line in and how do you monitor sound?
Will I need adaptors and an interface?
Also, I am guessing as Logic only runs on MAC surely then they would not the best spec to recommend to run it?
I see all the upgrades as additional memory or a faster process?
Is a retina screen necessary, and why flash based storage against a 1TB hard drive, and a i5 instead of an i7
The main reason for this purchase is to play live and use backing tracks and record found sounds and make creative songs.
I hope you can provide some valuable feedback, as I am a longtime MAC user and see upgrades and changes happen regularly but the most important thing is the songs not the equipment.

Item Button Positioning: Too far to the right with "Begin on New Field"
I'm attempting to add an item button inline with other items. If option "Begin on New Field" is set the button is too far to the right, however, if this option is unset the button is too close to the item on to its left.
Any suggestions on how I can get more granular conrol of this button's location?

For situations like this I highly recommend the Firefox web developer toolbar. Since ApEx makes heavy use of tables for layout, using the "Outline >> Table Cells" feature shows you how things are broken up (with td tags) and offers clues to resolving problems.
There is also a CSS viewer along with a "Display Element Information" option that shows a full hierarchical view of any element on that page that you want to click on. Check it out. You'll be glad you did.
BTW, in your case, it appears that you simply have multiple elements of differing heights that are being vertically-aligned differently. The date picker icon appears to be bottom-aligned with it's associated text box while all the other elements appear to be centered on the row. Correcting it? Don't know. I'm sure Vikas or Carl could come up with a DOM/CSS hack that could make it look the way you want it.

Mac OS 10.5.8 too old for HP deskjet 2514 driver and I can't download new Mac software. HELP!

I have an older Mac with the OS 10.5.8 system. It's too old to download to 10.6 the new Mac software because it's not intel-based so I can't download the driver for the printer.
I've been trolling the hp support boards and there doesn't seem to be a solution. So is my printer essentially useless with my computer?

I have completed a backup onto an external drive using Elements 12 on my PC running Windows XP. I am now trying to restore this backup onto my new Mac using another external drive as the destination as the catalog is too big to fit onto the Mac internal HD. All seems OK until I click the restore button then I get an error message "The Disc Drive in Mac HD does not contain a valid backup" The file names on the backup drive are visible on the Mac so I presume this backup must be valid so why is there a reference to the Mac HD?
System Preferences - Sharing. If you cannot find System Preferences, then use Command - Spacebar and type System Preference and when you see it in Spotlight (uper right) hit return.

Typically when you move computers you copy the whole iTunes folder and everything it contains to the new computer. Moving media files can be done with a drive, or by Home Sharing. You can also redownload media but let's say somebody desiced Apple may no longer sell a certain album; it cannot be downloaded again but if you already have it on a computer you can move your copy of the file.

I have a new mac book pro and and older MAC desktop. Both are backing up to my time capsule but it is close to full (1TB). If I purchase a new time capsule (2TB) can I bridge them or access both and back up to it still from both computers? If so how do I do this? Thanks in advance.
If you add another Time Capsule, you can have one or both Macs backup to that new device.
However, please note that it is not possible to have backups "carry over" seamlessly from one Time Capsule to another.
If you add a new Time Capsule, each Mac that is backing up to the new device will make a new complete backup and then backup incrementally after the master backup is completed. -
Recommendations for audio interface with new mac pro to avoid latency?

I have a new Mac Pro on order for editing video in FCPX, but Presonus says my older Presonus Firebox won't work with Mavericks and the new Mac Pro. Do you have a recommendation for a replacement?
I only use the interface to drive 2 powered expternal speakers and a headset, so I don't need something super sophisticated.
As I read about units, almost all come with USB 2.0 connections. But the new Mac Pro only offers USB, Thunderbolt 2, Dual Gigabit Ethernet, and HDMI 1.4 Ultra HD inputs. If I can't find a fairly inexpensive audio interface with USB 3.0, I'd have to go through another connection to get into the Mac Pro.
The key for me is to make sure and avoid latency, a critical issue for editing video.

Your point about USB2 working in USB3 ports is something I wasn't aware of. That opens a lot of doors for me. And I'll look into the Yamaha sound board as one possibility.
