AW 6.2.9 freezes when trying to start

the program starts but will not run.hard to force it to close. what can I do to get it to run again?

Quit AppleWorks. In a Finder window, go to your user's Documents >AppleWorks User Data >Recent Items folder. Select all files in the Recent Items folder and drag them to the trash. Your next AppleWorks start should be back to normal.

Hello.
I have two/2 issues with the (new/lat)est iTunes versions in Mac OS X (e.g., 10.5.8, 10.8.5, and 10.10.1).
1. How do I make iTunes stop asking me to log into my Apple account after I start up iTunes? I do not always want to be logged in. I will log in when I need to. I don't like keeping my accounts logged in all the time for security reasons anyways.
2. 70+ apps makes iTunes freeze to show a pinwheel for a few minutes before starting to download them. Is this normal?

ISSUE FINALLY RESOLVED!!!!!!
So, it turns out, I had to restore the iPhone...with a twist! Here are the steps:
FIRST BACK UP YOUR DEVICE
1. Go to the library (Hold option, click on "go" in the finder, then go to library)
2. Go to your iTunes folder in this Library (not application support, the main iTunes folder)
3. Go to the iX software folder (i.e., iPhone software, iPad software, etc.) and delete the file in this folder
4. Hook up the phone and then click on restore iPhone.
At this point, it will redownload the entire OS again. You must then restore the iPhone. As it is downloading the iOS, you can disconnect and use your phone for probably however long you want (I did the restore the same day as the download) and when you are ready you can hook up the phone and restore it.
THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP FOLLOWS:
And one many may dislike. Upon restoring the phone, you MUST select "Set-Up as new iPhone"
You need to make sure you've backed up EVERYTHING elsewhere. 3rd party, non-apple/icloud apps will lose data through this method, and you'll lose all texts, your call history, and super old voicemails. The upside is that, if you've backed up, then you can just restart the process if you forgot something. But seeing as how the popup was interfering with my ability to use iCloud (I couldn't sync anything, such as calendar events, reminders, etc., unless I had gone into mail to sign in to iCloud), it was totally worth it....no more popups.
My only wish is that this thread becomes popular. Many people have this issue and you should only use this method as a super last resort (after trying literally everything I had written previously).

IPhoto 7.0.1 freezes when trying to start a slideshow

I have a rather frustrating experience with iPhoto. Everytime I try to click the start slideshow play button (bottom left) the whole iPhoto freezes and I have to force quit it. In order to be able to open iPhoto again I have to repair permissions first, otherwise it says that my photo library is locked.
I tried rebuilding the library, but it didn't help.
Funny thing is, that slideshow plays fine when I acces it via the combiantion Create Slideshow (optional button, which you can reach through the view menu and toolbars submenu) and then hit play slideshow button in the create slideshow view. I could bring iPhoto to freeze agian via the music button in this create slideshow view though.
So what I did next is rebuild the iTunes library. It didn't help as well. I don't know what else to do.
One last test I did was trying slideshow as a different user. And guess what? Logged in as another user slideshow played fine. This user account has a different photo library and no music at all.

First try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, from your User/Library/Preferences folder. If that doesn't help, try the following:
Trouble Shooting Preferences
Go to HD/Users/Your_name/Library. Move the Preferences folder (in its entirety) to the Desktop and make a second copy of it so you have Copy A and B. Now try the the process again and determine if problem is fixed.
If the problem IS fixed, then go to the new Prefs folder that the OS will have created and open it up.
Open Copy B on the Desktop and select all of the items inside. Drag them into the open new library folder. When the Copy window comes up check the Apply to All check box and then click on the Don't Replace button as seen here. That will keep the new files created and bring back all of the others.
If the problem is NOT fixed, trash the new Prefs folder and move the intact Copy A folder back to the Library folder .
Sometimes it could be another application's preference file.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. I want to burn a couple of .mkv files (with corresponding .srt files) to a DVD for replay on a classic DVD player. However, iDVD seems to work erratically ...

• most probably a corrupted iDVD project (most probably due to feeding iDVD .mkv files (with corresponding .srt files) - as I don't think iDVD can make any use of them.
Try - Start iDVD - BUT keep Alt/Option-Key down during up-Start - NOW Select to make a Brand New iDVD Project.
• it can also be a corrupted iDVD pref. file
Make a new User-account - log into this - re-try iDVD: If it now works the problem is the pref file to 99.9%
C. .mkv files (with corresponding .srt files) -
I would try to convert them into a file format/codec iDVD can use as .dv or AIC or .m4 (I think) - WILDLY GUESSING.

Creative Zen Vision 30Gb Stuck in Recovery Mode, Freezes when trying to deal with Firmware

My Zen Vision is stuck in Recovery Mode. The PC recognizes it but it comes up as 50mb Storage Media. When you touch Reload Firmware or Format All, it freezes and you have to pull the battery out to shut it off. I don't know what to do. Charges fine, never said anything about HARDWARE issues, just can't get it to not freeze when trying to load firmware back onto it.

I did the same thing, my unit was working perfectly.
I just read that these players have a laptop 2.5 hard dri've installed in the unit. If this is true, the next chance I get, I will take my unit apart (40 gig nomad zen xtra) and see if I can reinstall the firmware directly. It's probably what they do at the repair sho

Ipod nano 5th generation freezes when trying to play a song or video

Within the last couple of day my ipod nano 5th generation started freezing whenever i tryed to play a song. Oly way i could turn it off was by resetting it, however it did not fix the problem and still freezes whenever i try to play a song. I have even restored it to factory setting and it does the exact same thing. I don't understand why it does this, does anyone know why it freezes and won't stop? i don't have any warrenty on it and want to know if it is fixable, because it just randomly started freezing when trying to play music. If any one knows why it would be appriacted to know.

Does this happen with any song or video you play? If so, then my best guess would be a hardware issue since a restore to factory settings did not resolve it.

IPhoto freezing when trying to import photos from iPhone

iPhoto has started freezing when trying to import photos from an iPhone. The device is recognised but just get "loading . . . " message with no photos appearing. Has anyone else seen this?

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

Any ideas why InCopy would freeze when trying to copy content? This is occurring on a corporate computer running Windows. We've uninstalled and reinstalled InCopy and are still runnng into the same problem.

I am also having the same issue when Syncing my 5th gen Nano. I can sync my iPhone, iPad and my sons iPod Touch but not my Nano. When I click to sync I just get the rainbow wheel.

It will also almost always freeze when I leave it idle for more than about 10 minutes.

We had the same issue. Backtracking, it turned out that it began after our techie updated our home network - for whatever reason, the main computer no longer holds the LAN settings properly after being restarted.
It's an easy fix (until he gets back from the west coast and can fix it permanently): after I boot the computer each day, I open IE, go to "tools" - "internet options" - "connections" - "LAN settings" - check "automatically detect" and uncheck "use proxy server."
Once I do that, CDDB comes up wonderfully and imports all the data I need.

Lightroom 2.6 freezes when trying to export images

I have been using LR successfully on a Windows XP machine for several years and using version 2.6 for the past several weeks . As of a few days ago, LR would freeze when trying to export images. The export functions of 'Export with Previous' and 'Export with Preset' seem to work without crashing LR but most of my exporting needs me the ability to adjust the export settings. Any advise?

I would guess LR only goes by drive-letter so if you've kept that the same it should be ok. Look for something else.
I would look in your Lightroom Preferences files to see if there is any drive letter that no longer exists.
On Vista/Win7 my LR prefs file is in:
C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Preferences
XP has something similar under C:\Documents and Settings\Local Settings (or Application Data)
If you open that file in a simple text-editor like NotePad then about halfway down (at least in mine) there are some export-related things that include the drive-letter and path on your hard-drive to various folders. You can find it by searching for:
AgMRUPopupList_AgExport_destinationFolderPathPrefix
Look through those and see if any of the drive-letters or paths are wrong and look around for other paths. The paths will contain
or
instead of \ because the low-level language routines LR is written with need it that way so if you change anything, keep the number of slashes consistent.
It could very well be that there is nothing wrong with any of the paths, so another approach would be to rename or move your preferences file to see if LR will recreate it with defaults for everything, and see if that clears up the lockups.
Whether you decided to edit or rename your preferences file, please make a backup copy so you can put it back in case something even worse happens and you need it back.

I brought a creative zen x-fi and half of the times i tried to delete a track or album it would freeze, i'd reset it and the track or album was not deleted. Thank you SO much!!! This is Exactly the problem I was having. I have spent untold hours in the last couple of days trying to resolve not only iTunes freezing up, but my network connectivity went bust as well. I like Blink so I'm undecided about whether to uninstall it yet, so I just disabled all of its firewall settings, and presto!... I can not only get my CD/DVD player to read and burn CD's, but iTunes and my computer remain functional. I got my computer to reconnect to the internet by doing a System Restore at a point prior to my trying to burn a CD. Thanks again so much. You saved my entire week!
