AW and LMS

The situation:
We created a course that consists of three modules for
running at a
LMS(Moodle). These modules are hierarchical. The learner
begins with modules
1. At a certain point he can switch to modules 2 and then to
module 3. The
same back. The modules are AW-pieces.
The problems:
It is not possible to launch module 2 direct from module1 (by
the function
GoToNetPage), because the first golden rule of scorm is: A
SCO may not
itself launch other SCOs. But how I tell the LMS: Now (when
the learner
pushed a button within the module 1) starting module 2?
When package the modules with One Button publishing, create
the package with
the Authorware Learning Object Content Packager and the
matadata file with
Authorware Learning Object Metadata Editor I get all the
necessary files
separate for every module. But how I get the information for
the LMS that
these modules are part of one course? I guess that the
"Groups" in the
Authorware Learning Object Metadata Editor have something to
do with that,
but how is it to use?
Thank you for every help.
Frieder

  • WCS and LMS to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3 Upgrade

    Hello,
Our customer is currently having WCS for 500 devices and LMS 3.2 for 1500 devices. We are planning to upgrade to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3.
I want to check is the upgrade procedure that we have planned is ok or we have missed something.
Phase 1: WCS to CPI 1.3 upgrade
    1. Check that WCS is at 7.0.230.0  version
    2. Export WCS database
    3. Install NCS 1.1.1.24 software
    4. Contact cisco to obtain trial license for NCS software (L-WCS-NCS1-M-K9 license).
    5. Migrate WCS license and import it in NCS software
    6. Migrate WCS data to NCS software using ncs migrate command
    7. Patch NCS software
    8. Inline upgrade to CPI 1.3 software
    9. Install proper licenses on CPI 1.3 (WCS and LMS device count)
My concern in this first phase is should I use NCS large image since our Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3 software should manage 2000 devices at the end.
Or is it better not to perform inline upgrade and insted go with exporting data from NCS and then importing them to CPI 1.3 that is going to be installed separately?
Phase 2: LMS 3.2 to CPI upgrade
    1. Export LMS 3.2 database
    2. Install LMS 4.2 software
    3. Install license to LMS 4.2
    4. Restore data from LMS 3.2 to LMS 4.2
    5. Direct upgrade from LMS 4.2 to 4.2.2
    6. Export the device list with credentials from LMS 4.2.2  and import it as a Bulk Import in CPI 1.3
At the end we will have CPI 1.3 and LMS 4.2.2 software running.
Is it possible to directly upgrade from LMS 4.2 to LMS 4.2.4 and then import data to CPI 1.3 or we need to go with 4.2.2 version?
    Regards,
    Jelena

Are this errors going to affect our LMS 4.2 operations?
Then we have upgraded to LMS 4.2.2 and exported data and credentiales for PI import.
On PI 1.3 we have installed WCS 500 devices upgrade license and LMS 1500 upgrade license and now we are having 2000 devices lifecycle license. We have successfully restored WCS data in PI and we have imported LMS devices as bulk import. What is strange is that we have this message in prime regarding licensing:
On LMS 3.2 our customer had saved unlimited number of configuration versioning. After upgrading to LMS 4.2 we can only see last 3 configurations regardless of unlimided number of configurations in previous LMS, so my question is where can we find older configurations in LMS 4.2?
We are planning to turn unlimited versioning on CPI 1.3 now, so our customer will again have feature that they need. Do you have some experiance regarding disk space when all device configurations are stored forever?
    Thank you for your help.
    Regards,
    Jelena

  • Can VMS 2.1 and LMS 2.1 be installed in same server?

    Dear all,
May I know can VMS 2.1 and LMS 2.1 be installed in same server? If so, how about the sequence of installation? If LMS 2.1 is already installed on the server, do I need to install the VMS Common Services? Thanks
    Gary

    Hi,
In VMS 2.1 bundle, RME and Security Monitoring Center are included. As I know, RME can receive syslog from switch/router/PIX and Security Monitoring Center can receive syslog from PIX. If I install these two applications on the same server, will there be problems about the syslog receive? Will the syslog messages mix-up? Thanks
    Gary

  • Prime Fulfillment 6 AND LMS 4.2 on single Solaris 10 server?

Is it possible to easily operate both Prime Fulfillment 6 AND LMS 4 on single Solaris 10 server?

They were not tested together, and I recommend they not be installed on the same zone instance (due to potential conflicts).  Now, if you're certain you have a server that can accommodate both suites (in terms of resources), create separate zones for each suite.  This will eliminate the conflict possibility while still giving you one overall physical machine to manage.

  • Upgradding Prime Infrastructure version 1.2 and LMS 4.x to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0

    Hello,
A customer currently have 2,500 Cisco Prime Infrastructure Lifecycle device license using Prime Infrastructure version 1.2 and LMS 4.x. the customer wants to upgrade to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0.
Does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade to version 2.0 without additional cost? the licenses from
Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 has to be upgraded or we need only to rehost the VUDI.
Also could be possible to upgrade LMS 4.x to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0?
    thanks!

The two features you mention are two big missing ones. Another is full syslog capability. I don't believe CiscoView or day one support via package updates is included either.
Another is less tangible - the depth of experience and documentation available for LMS vs. Prime Infrastructure (particularly the wired management features). I agree for wireless PI 2.0 looks good. Some new features are coming for wired that look promising but they are new as of PI 2.0 so I'm taking a wait and see on them.
I hope to get 2.0 up in my lab in the next week or so and will hope to be pleasantly surprised but that's seldom the case with a major new release.

  • Issue with .flv Captivate and LMS

Hi, I am testing an LMS that we will be rolling out in the
New Year. We have produced some Captivate2 modules and have
successfully loaded them as SCORM2004 onto the LMS and they run
    okay.
I tried creating a .flv using Studio8 and inserted it into a
Captivate 2. The module runs okay on my harddrive. I create the
manifest.xml file and zip all the content and upload onto the LMS.
The LMS will launch the file okay and it plays and stops at the
point where the flv should play - but it doesn't there is nothing
not even the small flv controls are displayed. If I click on the
forward button it advances to the next part of the Captivate as
    normal.
Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution?
    thanks
    Gerry

I highly recommend you look at:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?forumid=67&catid=470&threadid =1203710&highlight_key=y&keyword1=flv
This issue is one that is CAUSED by Adobe. The flvs work fine
on an Adobe server. They are trying to force people to use their
    service.
It sucks, and I hope someone fixes it soon -- not being able
    to play flv is ridiculous.

  • Adobe Presenter and LMS

Help--if I create an e-learning course with Adobe Presenter I have three output options for publishing.
Creation of a flash presentation via HTML (SWF)
Run it through Adobe Connect Pro
    Publish to a PDF
Can any of these be supported through an LMS other than Connect Pro?  I'm trying to tie a developed course to an LMS on a large scale such that multiple companies can register many employees and manage, track course completion, etc.
    Dan

My opinion is positive, depending on your needs. We use Presenter and Captivate for all of our courses. Presenter has ease of use going for it. If you can use PowerPoint, you can use Presenter. That can be good or bad. I believe Presenter is great for straight-forward, click-through courses. Quizzing is decent. It's not a robust, option-laden application.
Captivate is great for simulations and interactive learning. You can force the learner to participate.
I haven't used many others out there but Adobe has two winners in these products.

  • Captivate and LMS JavaScript Problem

We use Captivate and a Plateau LMS. We had an issue with
bookmarking within our course. The first lesson worked just fine,
but later lessons were not bookmarking. We added javascript alerts
to the code to see when the Captivate content was setting LMS
    variables.
We feared the issue was the bandwidth between the client and
the LMS was so limited that the script attempting to set the LMS
variables was failing, but this is not the case. The script appears
to not run at all sometimes at random intervals. When it does run
it is successful each time. The first lesson, which works reliably,
is much smaller than the other lessons, maybe the size of the SWF
factors into the ability for the script to run properly?
Has anyone else run across this issue? Does anyone have
advice in deeper troubleshooting an issue like this?
    Any input is appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Chris

I think that CP3 sends back its data on a time basis, not a
    slide
basis...like every 7 seconds or something?
We've had customers who are tracking interaction data in
    their CP
quizzes which have like 40 questions. If they go through it
    too quickly,
the timed 'save' to the LMS gets behind quickly...so by the
    time the
user is done, only 2/3rds of the suspend data has been
    saved...
And I imagine the bookmark could be left out entirely as
    well.
So see if it's a timing thing? Go through slowly, see if
    posting happens
on a timed basis...maybe that will help determine where the
    issue is...
I do wonder how CP4 sends its data back...

  • Captivate 5.5 and LMS

    Hello,
Ever since I begun creating projects from Captivate 5.5 and uploaded it in our LMS, I have observed this below image which briefly displays just before my project begins to play.
I hope someone could explain to me what does it actually do.
Projects were published as SCORM1.2 compliant and so far my projects are okay. Just needed some explainations on its existence.
    BR
    -Miguel

This image displays while your Captivate module is connecting to the LMS.  You can configure the text that displays in this animation at that time via the  field at Preferences >  Quiz > Reporting > Enable Reporting > LMS Initialization Text.
It doesn't appear when you're not using a SCORM-compliant LMS.  If the course module is having difficulty connecting to your LMS, this animation will be there for quite a while. Normally it will disappear within a second or two at most.

  • Coursebuilder and LMS communication

A few postings appeared over the past year regarding running
web pages with Coursebuilder interactions and Knowledge Tracking
on, but encountering the dialog, "Tracking System Not Found". I get
the same dialog, too. I see no replies yet about this
    train-stopping little dialog.
I'm only sending one HTM page to test it in my LMS system,
for which I created the Coursebuilder frameset.
Does anyone know what to do in the Action Manager, or in the
code on the page, to "talk" to an LMS? I have added JavaScripts to
send variable values and "Send Core Data" and other elements to the
Action Manager (which I verified are correct), but doubt if they
    are being sent.
We use Aspen by SumTotal. I will be contacting them next, but
wanted to know what to do in Coursebuilder first.
Does anyone know the answer or know someone who has had
success with Coursebuilder communicating with an LMS?
    Thanks,
    Joyce

Does your course have a quiz, with a Quiz Results page?  If so, in my experience, as long as the Quiz Results page is near the end of the project with just one or two slides after it, and the user clicks the Continue button on the Quiz Results slide before closing down the lesson file, then the LMS seems to get the data fine.

  • CPI and LMS

    Hello,
I'm not very familiar with Cisco Prime Infrastructure or LMS.
I would like to use the application to manage wired devices such as routers and switches and, in a future phase, wireless devices.
I understand CPI allows me to monitor my devices but I'm not sure if I can configure them, for example, what if I need to configure a port, a vlan, or anything, is it possible to do this with CPI?
I also see that getting CPI will include a license for LMS, can both of those applications be installed on the same appliance server?
    Thanks.

    Hi Daniel,
LMS and PI cannot be Installed on the same appliance server.
LMS must be installed in a separate VM or an a UCS server or physical NCS appliance alone.

Check the below post ,it will be helpful:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/3916572#3916572
As per me , you can start the Cisco Prime LMS for now as your focused is to manage the LAN device currently and in future when you plan to manage wireless devices , you can start using  PI . I hope by then we should have compelte data migration from LMS to PI.
    Thanks-

  • 2960-X Stack and LMS

What are the steps to upgrade the IOS on a 2960-X stack using LMS 4.2?   Can I use the .bin file or do I need the.tar file?  Also, will this upgrade all the stack members or just the stack master?

By my count, you have ~100 devices in that building. I would expect many of the IP phones will have a PC attached. Why is your port count so high? 192 ports or 240 ports per the quotes seems like too many.
Also, you might want to check the 3650 switches. They are basically replacements for the 3750x with newer technology and the same price point.
It doesn't look like 3750 + 2960 makes sense. Why add another bottleneck and layer of troubleshooting if not necessary? Why not just stack the number of switches you need instead of adding a semi-distribution layer? Stacking provides much more throughput than copper uplinks. If you need more throughput to the cores, use 4 X 10G uplink interfaces.

  • Adobe Connect and LMS

    Hello,
I am trying to obtain some information regarding the Adobe online LMS solution.
I believe that it incorporates Adobe Connect.  I'd like to know the pricing using per user with courses that I create in Adobe Captivate 8.
Also, I need some very robust reporting options and statistics right "out of the box".
    Any information is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks so much!

    dubgee,
Licesning and pricing is not a forum appropriate discussion. I'd be happy to speak with you off forum if you would like. You can reach me at jorma[at]realeyesconnect.com, and I'll happily walk you through the licensing options for Connect and we can look a pricing for what will best fit you. If it helps, here is a reference we put together about the licensing available for Adobe Connect, Setting the Record Straight on Adobe Connect Licensing | RealEyes Media.
