Awesome - firefox plugin container in fullscreen disappears

Hi,
I am using awesome with two screens. My problem is the plugin-container from firefox.
I added this rule to rc.lua to get the fullscreenwindow in the foreground:
{ rule = { instance = "plugin-container" },
properties = { floating = true } },
But while changing from one to the other screen with the mouse the fullscreen window of the flash plugin disappers.
Is there a way to configure it so it acts like the vlc, where I can have a fullscreen window on one screen while I am working on the other?
- stubb

Ive downgraded from FF4 to 3.6 at this point. The CPU usage is out of control on OS X.

  • I get the following message: Mozilla Firefox plugin-container has stopped working properly. What do I do?

the message:" Mozilla Firefox plugin-container has stopped working properly" appears regularly in my maintenance center. I am on Windows 7 and Firefox 3.6.17

I had the same type of failure. It was caused by a FF upgrade from V4 to V9.1. Dearing 1955 did not say what version caused the problem. My USB ports started acting up. I could not install the Webcam that was installed before. The HP Scanner of my OJ 8500 stopped working (USB). Did get it to work via Wireless. Removing FF did not clear the problem. Believe I have infected USB driver now.

  • Where can I get the Mozilla Firefox plugin-container missing

I dl the new Firefox 4.0 and did not like it so uninstalled it. Reinstalled the Firefox 3.6 and had trouble with it coming up. After a couple of hours it finally started to work. Yesterday it would not even open up or try to load. I uninstalled and reinstalled it and it still will not even try to load up. Did a check of problems and it said Mozilla Firefox plugin-container was missing. Tried to find it and have been unable to do so. I really like Firefox. What do I need to do.

Mozilla Firefox plugin-container has stopped working properly. FOR THE UMPTEENTH DAMN TIME... HOW DO I FIX THIS on Firefox 3.6.13!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
    ''edited by a moderator - https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Forum+and+chat+rules+and+guidelines ''

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

  • Why hasn't Mozilla FIXED the problem in 5 months: Firefox Plugin Container Has Stopped Working. Hundreds of people posted but there is NO SOLUTION!

"Firefox Plugin Container Has Stopped Working."
Why hasn't Mozilla FIXED the problem in 5 months?
And Why is there not any answer to how to fix it that an Ordinary Person can do, without a MS degree in computer science?
I had this problem in Firefox 3.6.8 and then just downloaded version 3.6.12, the latest one, but it still happens constantly:
Hundreds of people posted in June 2010 and now the help section says: "This Question is Closed" message is at the bottom,
    But there is NO SOLUTION!

This file seems to offer as many issues as problems it's supposed to solve.
Fix your problem in 20 seconds, 15 if you copy and paste the 2 strings below:
    - Open a new tab in Firefox
    - Type "about:config" in the Address Bar (without the quotes)
    - Click "I'll be careful, I promise!"
    - Type "dom.ipc" in the Filter field on top of the page
    - 6 lines of parameters should appear, ignore the first and the last ones
    - Double-click on the 4 lines in the middle to change their value to "False"
    - Close the tab, close Firefox, restart Firefox

  • Firefox plugin container high cpu usage and crashing

All three of my family's computers have been experiencing problems with the firefox plugin container.  The container spikes the CPU for long, long, periods of time slowing overall performance noticably.
The only way to address the problem is to kill the Firefox plugin container.
When I kill the plugin container it kills Adobe Flash.  This also occurs with Google Chrome and IE (problem and fix).
This leads me to beleive Flash is the problem.
I've tried clearing the flash cache from the Adobe troubleshooting site, deleting all cache applications, and changing settings.
    Nothing seems to work.
IS ADOBE FLASH BROKEN?  If not how can I troubleshoot this problem? My family plays Farmville which is always hanging and can only be fixed by restarting the computer. Okay, maybe farmville is a bad app.
However, I had the same problem when I went to Adobe.Com to try ans find a solution to this problem.  The flash application spikde the CPU and the fix was to kill flash.
I'm not without skills - I could use some direction on how to troubleshoot flash?
    Suggestions?
    Regards,
    Dale

    Thanks.
Since I know absolutley nothing about flash that was very helpful.

    HI Starlet sky,
Its a pleasure to meet a fellow 3d gamer. Since the plugin that crashed was:
    webplayer_win.dll_unloaded
You can clear the cache and see if this helps prevent future crashes, but that might not be the only cause.
    Other things to consider:
    * Your plugins and extensions are not update: Shockwave Flash 11.7 r700 - needs to be 14
    * Update all your media extensions and plugins, this will help the performance. also look at hardware acceleration after updating your graphics card and extensions [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
Once this is done, please try to access the game a gain and report back! It could help other users, thank you!

  • McAfee is blocking Plugin Container for FF. C:\programfiles\mozilla firefox\plugin-container.exe. Is this safe for me to override McAfee's sugg?

I really don't know what a plugin or extention is. Currently I'm running a small calendar and a small weather widget on my screen. These have been installed for several years, before I installed McAfee last year.
Waiting to hear from you to tell me if I should "always allow, Allow once, or Block". Thank you. Karen

hello JCW2 - yes, it's a legitimate part of firefox - all plugins (like flash videos) are running within plugin-container.exe, so it should be allowed full access to the internet for plugin content to work properly (i'm not sure what "FTPZone" means within your firewall though)...

  • Adobe flashplayer causing firefox plugin container to burn CPU

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit with 8GB RAM and Firefox 6.02 on a quad CPU 2.5 GHz Alienware M17x notebook. I am having a problem with Adobe flashplayer (v 10.3.183.10) which causes the plugin container to use a sustained circa 30% of CPU even when Firefox is not doing much.  This causes excessive fan speeds, noise, heating etc.  Disabling the plugin reduces the CPU use from the container to less than 1%. Ay idea how I can run flash and avoid the excessive CPU load?

Thanks guys for looking at this.  I have been waiting all day to test as you suggest but I can't get my system to produce the problem again and I have not changed any hardware, software, settings or anything!  The plugin container has been behaving correctly with Flash no matter what sites I have visited. V silly as I was stuck with this for several days before posting.
May have been a random machine error.  I will repost if it comes back but feeling sheepish now.
    D.

  • Firefox Plugin Container keeps crashing.

    Every god damn day.
    Every time I surf.
Almost every time I go on youtube.
    For the past months.
    Resetted Firefox about 20 times.
    Started without any plugins.
    Uninstalled and reinstalled.
    Resetted Firefox 20 times more.
WHAT ELSE CAN I DO? Do I have to start paying to get a decent BROWSER? Or should I switch to Chrome?

The Malwarebytes web page is available. I just checked it, so the problem is somewhere on your end.
That '''''Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED)''''' makes '''rjohnson19''''s suggestion valid. I did not see that in your initial post.
Did the problem start ''<u>'''immediately'''</u>'' following your un-install of McAfee and install of Norton?
Did you use the McAfee removal instructions (including the McAfee Consumer Products Removal tool (MCPR.exe))? See: http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507
Note that Norton also has a removal tool: http://service1.symantec.com/support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039
*Is Norton properly configured for Firefox? See: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firewalls
*Are you having problems accessing any web sites other than anti-malware sites?
*Have you tried updating Norton? Does it update?
*Try going to the McAfee site and see if you can get in.
*Did you try to download Malwarebytes from another non-infected computer at another location as I suggested?
*You may also need to access that Malwarebytes forum page from another non-infected computer.
*Call a friend, give them the addresses and see if they can access both of the Malwarebytes addresses.
*If they can, then that will confirm what I suspect; that you have a malware infection that will keep you from downloading, installing or updating anti-malware applications.
If this is being caused by malware, you may need help from one of these expert sites (all free, just read their requirements and follow the instructions they give you):
