AWM 9i Sample

where can I find AWM 9i Sample Schema and script..

AWM9i is long gone. The only possible solution might be to try using OWB10gR2 as this might just support the deployment of schemas to 9i OLAP. The minimum database version for the current AWM is 10.1.0.4 because this is the version database version that supported AWM XML and the new active OLAP catalogs.
Why are you using 9i? Personally, I would upgrade to 10gR2 as soon as possible as this will provide a massive improvement in performance and significantly lower storage requirements.

  • Bug with BI Samples Common Schema and AWM 10.1.0.4

I have installed the BI Samples available here
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/bi/samples/samples_readme.html
    The common_schema installs 3 AW's in the cs_olap user.
Now in AWM 10.1.0.4 change to "object view" and open the Utils AW. Here it is not possible to expand the "Programs" folder even though there are 32 programs in this AW.
After some debugging it turns out that the reason lies in the "BUILD_IDD" programs. Specifically the 3 lines starting with the "LD" command. When these are removed from this program it is possible to view all the programs through AWM.
Don't know if the bug lies in AWM or the BUILD_IDD program.

The program will not compile unless the AW SHAW is attached and other programs have been run to add new objects to the AW. The LD command is used to add additional descriptive information to each new object added to SHAW.
Thanks for the post, this has been forwarded on to development.

  • AWM: Can not see the synonyms in the mappings pane

Hi, using the AWM 11.2.0.1.0A, in the mappings pane under the item Synonyms does not appear any synonyms although there are some of them (private synonyms) in the user's scheme.
    Any hint?
    Thanks.

I just tried this in 11.2.0.1 and the synonym showed up in AWM. I ran the following (in the sample GLOBAL schema)
    create synonym prod_table for product_dim;
Note that product_dim is a table in the GLOBAL schema, and I ran the above statement as GLOBAL.
I then attached AWM as GLOBAL and saw prod_table show up in the synonyms folder of the mappings pane. What are you doing that is different from this?

  • Error while creating AW using AWM

I am using AWM version 10.2.0.3.0, Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.3.0 - Prod.
Using the user apps when trying to create an AW using AWM. Schema->apps-> Analytic Workspace -> Create Analytic Workspace
    I get an error
    oracle.express.ExpressServerException
java.sql.SQLException: ORA-33292: insufficient permissions to access analytic workspace SYS.AWXML using the specified access mode.
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.GENCONNECTIONINTERFACE", line 70
    ORA-06512: at line 1
what permission should I set get this working?

Not a good idea to grant OLAP_DBA role as this can cause a lot or problems, it is about the same as granting DBA to a user but when you connect an OLAP query tool the schema you may get additional problems.
In terms of the original system error it does sound as if you do not have sufficient privileges to create an AW. Hence, Ragnar's suggestion to use assign OLAP_USER is a great way to start.
Also as the SYS user try issuing GRANT SELECT TO PUBLIC on SYS.AW$XML. It could be your OLAP installation is somehow incorrectly configured?
I am assuming you have applied the 10.2.0.3 patchset (all the steps - the installation via the Universal Installer and the post installation scripts) and applied the 10.2.0.3A patchset?

  • AWM Plugins and Object View

I'm trying to create a java plugin for AWM that is only valid for items in Object view (eg Variables, Programs etc... all the primitive Express objects).
According to the interface defined for AWMPlugin methods:
void handle(Frame parent, Connection conn, String type, Object obj,
AW aw, Map param); The 'type' and 'obj' represent either a String or an Object that is associated with the selected tree item, or null.
My problem is that type and obj are always null when operating in Object view, but pass a non-null value in Model view .
Has anyone encountered this? Does it mean the AWM plugin interface is only valid for the Model view?
Does anyone know of a way to get a handle to something like a Variable or Program in Object view using the AWMPlugin interface?

I am certainly not an expert on this but this would be my thoughts on this topic -
AWM plugins are supposed to only work on model view since this view over the AW uses the public APIs called Standard Form. The Object view uses a non-public API which addresses the internal AW catalog (i.e. the NAME dimension). Therefore, it would not surprise me that the API you are calling returns NULL when you try to access non-Standard Form objects.
I will try and contact one of the OLAP PM's this afternoon and get his opinion and let you know.

There are posts on the OLAP forum covering this problem. Anthony Waite from the OLAP Product Management team has provided the following information:
e new, default Model View in AWM 10.1.0.4.0 is based upon the OLAP Analytic Workspace API (a.k.a. AW/XML). Just to recap and further clarify my earlier post, you must pass the following requirements in order to use it:
    1) Be sure to be using the Enterprise Edition of the Oracle Database 10g.
    SQL> select banner from v$version where banner like 'Oracle%';
You should see Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition.
    2) Be sure to have the Data Warehouse database configuration or the OLAP Option enabled.
    SQL> select parameter, value from v$option where parameter='OLAP';
    You should see OLAP TRUE.
    3) Be sure that the RDBMS 10.1.0.4 patch set has been completely installed. Users often miss the required Post-Installation Steps such as running catpatch.sql.
    SQL> select comp_name, version, status from dba_registry;
You should see VALID and 10.1.0.4.0 for the OLAP components.
    4) The Oracle Database must have the compatibility mode of 10.1 to use the Model View as it relies on the unique features found in Oracle Database 10g.
    SQL> select name, value, description from v$parameter where name ='compatible';
You should see 10.1, not 9.2 or earlier.
    5) Please refer to the patchnote.htm that is bundled with 10.1.0.4.0 patch set. Only you are aware of what type of database configuration you have. You will want to pay close attention to "7.2.1.3 Set the SHARED_POOL_SIZE and JAVA_POOL_SIZE Initialization Parameters" and "7.2.2 Upgrade the Release 10.1 Database".
Basically, I believe you have missed these required steps after installing the 10.1.0.4.0 patch set from the OUI: (pasted from the patchnote.htm)

  • How to create an unsolved cube with awm???

    hi all,
I readed the "Oracle Olap developer's guide to the Oalp api" and I found there's 2 type of Cube: Solved and Unsolved Cubes. And this document says: "... if all the data for a cube is specified by the DBA, then the cube is considered to be Solved. If some or all of the aggregate data must be calculated by Oracle OLap, then the cube is unsolved ..."
I tried with awm 10.2.0.3.0A to create an unsolvedCube but I can't. All cubes I created are solvedCube. To know if a cube is solved or unsolved, I wrotte an program in Java to read informations of package mtm.
Some one can tell me how to create an unsolved cube with AWM ou other soft please!

SH is not a relational OLAP data model which is quite different from the GLOBAL schema which is based on an Analytic Workspace.
If you change the aggregation method you will need to re-compute the whole cube which can be a very big job! You might be able to force the unsolved status be de-selecting all the levels on the Rules tab in AWM. However, I think by default analytic workspace OLAP models always provide a fully solved cube to the outside world. This is the nature of the multi-dimensional model.
Relationally, as keys are located in separate columns a cube can be unsolved in that the key column only contains values for a single level from the corresponding dimension tables. If more than keys for different levels within the same dimension appear within the fact key column then the cube is deemed as being solved.
Therefore, I am not sure you are going to get the information you require from the API. To changes the aggregation method you will have to switch off all pre-compute options and also disable the session cache to prevent previously calculated data being returned when you change the aggregation method.
    Hope this helps

  • Error importing AWM XML Schema in OWB repository

Hi, as you suggest me I downloaded the OWB expert "AW XML Import Expert" on this page:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/warehouse/htdocs/OWBexchange.html?cat=ALP&submit=search
I correctly installed it on OWB, I created a module linking to the GLOBAL sample location with the tables, but when I try to import an AWM XML file (for example PRICE_CUBE.xml) I get this error:
    EXP00008: error during expert execution:
    java.net.MalformedURLException: no protocol: OLAP METADATA
    while executing
    "$saxparser parse $parserInput"
    invoked from within
And so with any other dimension or cube file exported from Global Sample in AWM.
Also using IE8 and Firefox 3 I can't open this file, and in IE I get
System: -2146697211. Error during elaboration of resource "OLAP METADATA". Error during the elaboration...
    %BIND_VALUES;
Is there a problem in the XML? Or in my procedure?

Hello, all the errors you've been given are related to missing objects.
You should re-create/import the location for you process flows before importing the process flows themselves.
Also verify that you have imported the procedures FLSTG.PROC_GET_ETL_DATA_DATE and FL_TRG_FLSTG.PROC_UPDATE_RECO_CTL because you use them in your process flows so you need them: OWB refuses to import a process flows if some objects are missing because it would break some links.
In general process flows should be imported where you have all the other objects in the repository because they are the final step and they reference many other objects.
    Hope this helps - Antonio

  • Do awm 10.2.0.3.0A  be the same awm 10.2.0.3.0 ???

    hi all,
there is many post talk about awm 10.2.0.3.0 and its advances like: Sparcity Advisor ...
I use currently the awm 10.2.0.3.0A and in this version, there's not the function Sparcity Advisor. Can you explain me how to get the awm 10.2.0.3.0? What's differents between this 2 version (freeware, shareware)?
    Thanks !

The sparsity advisor is displayed when you right mouse click on a cube. The readme file shows the following information:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/bi/olap/awm102030A_readme.html
Analytic Workspace Manager in Release 10.2.0.3.0 provides a Sparsity Advisor, which examines the source data and makes recommendations for defining OLAP cubes that will provide the best performance. The functionality of calculation plans has been enhanced to provide post-load forecasting, allocation, and aggregation. Analytic Workspace Manager also supports Java add-ins, so that any Java developer can extend and customize the tools in Analytic Workspace Manager. Please refer to the Oracle OLAP Application Developer's Guide 10.2.0.3 for further details.

  • Issue on AWM for oracle 10.2.0.1

    Hi,
To day i just started exploring the oracle OLAP in my current version 10.2.0.1.
I got a problem on mapping the attributes of the cube to the base tables of my star schema.
Steps i did till now :
    1. created AW space.
    2. created the dimensions,hierarchy,levels.
    3. Mappings done for the dimensions from the base table.
    4. Created a new cube.
    5. Defined the measures.
    6. I cannot be able to move further from this step. Here i started mapping the cube attributes to base table attributes of my star schema. The problem i got here is i am not getting the option join in the source mapping window.
Note : I used the OLAP AWM in my oracle client -->integrated management tools -->OLAP AWM and worksheet
Please i will be very thankfull if any one of you respond to my problem.
    Regards,
    Siva
    Edited by: user11277245 on Jul 1, 2009 5:26 AM

    Hi Siva,
From the screenshot you uploaded it looks like you have created level names in product dimension as prod_id and prod_name but you might be looking for the attribute. If you want a attribute as prod_name then you should create attribute in production dimesnion not level.
Also you should not map cube from two tables. There should be only one fact table which should be source of data.
There would be lot to write but I would suggest you to download the global sample available on OTN.
Also you can see the sample code here
Did you upgraded to 10.2? what is the AWM version?
    Thanks

  • Date  format in awm

Do anyone know how to change date formal in awm?
my time dim take the date like '01/13/2007' and I want like '13/01/2007'
I have Error Occured: ORA-01843 and I think is because of the format of the date...
    what do u think?
    thank you

I think your assumption about the error is correct. It would appear that the value '13' is being processed as a month not a day value.
Are the columns in your time dimension table flagged as type DATE or VARCHAR2? I thought if the format was DATE AWM managed the conversion process internally. In the 10g common schema sample the date formats for the end-date attribute (source column type date) are YYYY-MM-DD and these are loaded and parsed correctly.
So I am assuming your source data is VARCHAR2. I think you have two options:
    1) Create a view over your original time dimension and use the normal SQL operators to convert the data columns to the correct format. Personally, I always try to create views over source fact tables as it insulates you from schema changes and usually means you do not have to keep deleting the existing mapping and re-mapping all the columns again.
    2) Use the OLAP DML dateorder options to set the correct order (DATEORDER = 'MDY') prior to loading the source data. Not sure if you would need to set this explicitly after the data load as well to ensure the query tools worked correctly.
I think option 1 is probably the best option as this does not require any additional OLAP DML processing and is less likely to cause additional issues further down the line.

  • AWM does not provide Materialized Views as potential data sources.

    Hi
I would like to map OLAP dimensions and cubes directly to materialized views. The Oracle AWM tool, however, only displays Tables, Views and Synonyms as mapping objects and I have to indirectly map to normal views created over the materialized views.
Why does Oracle enforce this limitation?
    Thanks
    Kind Regards
    Greg

    Greg,
Not sure why AWM enforces this limitation, certainly Warehouse Builder does not enforce this rule (at least not to my knowledge). You could raise a bug/enhancement request with Support. However, my recommendation is to never to map directly to a source object, such as a fact table or materialized view, in AWM. This can create all sorts of problems as you move your AWM model across environments. I always suggest to my customers and consultants they create a view over their source objects and use the view within the mapping editor. It will give you more control over the flow of data into your cube/dimension since it allows you to define filters on the view.

  • Creating Flat Dimensions in AWM

    Hi,
We have a proposed cube structure with 8 dimensions (apart from the TIME dimension) as follows:
    3 Dimensions have a Level-Based Hierarchy
    2 Dimensions have a Value-Based Hierarchy
3 Dimensions are flat with no levels or hierarchy.
We are using Oracle Analytic Workspace Manager v10.2.0.3.0A for formulating the cube structure.
We want to introduce a top level “All” column in all the dimensions so as to facilitate analysis of data by eliminating the dimension itself (by selecting its “all” level). Inclusion of such a top level “All” level seems intuitive for Level based and value based hierarchy as we can just introduce the new level.
However, we are not sure of how we can create a “flat” dimension and also have the top level “all” column in it by using AWM. Any insights on the process of creating a flat dimension in AWM would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Piyush

I am not sure what the problem is? You simply create a dimension with two levels:
    - Top level
    - Base level
Assign an 'All Members" description to the top level and all all other members are assigned to the base level.

I suspect the problem is that you are using an 11.1.0.7 client to access an 11.1.0.6 server. This configuration should work, but there was a bug at some point with new clients and old servers. In any case you would be advised to upgrade your server to either 11.1.0.7 or, at least, the latest 11.1.0.6 OLAP patch.
