AWS FMS-enterprise setup

Ok, it has gone a while since ive created a AWS account for to get hold of FMSE services....
but i have a big and probably dumb question, how do i set up a instance at AWS ?
I am particulary interested in Netgroup in FMS. Ive searched like a maniac and read like librarian but ive found no info that makes it clear for me how o i setup a server instance and how i connect my AIR app to it so i can use NetGroups...
Any help, any guidance that is easy to understand is higly appreciated!!!!!
Really need help on this one!
Thanx in advance

This whole process starts to annoy me.
First,
DONE = subscribe at Adobe
DONE = redirected to amazon to create a account and get a acitvation key (see attachment)
when clicking on the Click link in hte yellow bar, i come to billing, and there after some steps im back at adobe.
Seriously, come on what is this cat-mouse game ?
So, ok after hitting get started on Adobe (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flashmediaserver/amazonec2/WS6fc2df2b6d2ce24359910e2812c396a83 eb-7fff.html) i was supposed to look up Community AMI id which could be used, and when searching for those 2 i found nothing.
Im really mad at Adobe now since they seem to be responsible for this service at Amazon, and the documentation is like a usual newspaper, you dont get smarter nor dummer.
in my opinion, documentations CAN NOT be written in a way that only advanced users understand. Now Amazon is billing me for a freaking service that i even dont use !?!?
Sorry for the hard tone over here but i really think this is a scam. To get started with one or another service/technology offered by Adobe, you find many good walkies and tutorials, but not here!
The attachment
and after clicking the link in yellow bar im back at amazon where another link saying "Activate application" takes me back to adobe...

• Can I use the connection capacity of FMIS to estimate the FMS Enterprise?

Hi,
Can I use the capacity of FMIS to estimate the maximum connection of FMS Enterprise?
Even bandwidth and latency of RTMFP are minimum. FMS Enterprise may still need to monitor each peer when using RTMFP connections.
So can I use the connection capacity of FMIS to estimate the FMS Enterprise?
Thanks.

Bryan,
Smokerz was suggesting that you temporarily bring the Express upstairs, connect it & configure it, and then take it back down stairs again.
As for your desired setup:
Actually, if configured correctly, your Time Capsule should the source of your network and the Express should be the devise joining/extending it. This is the way I have it set up. However, you seem to want to configure it the other way around. Not very practical.
Take a look at the following thread for a discussion on this:

Particularly note the lengthy step-by-step provided by Tesserax.
Hope this helps

• WPA2 Enterprise setup question

I have been trying to complete a WPA2 Enterprise setup, and I have hit a wall in troubleshooting. The current setup has two SSIDs, but the users only use one of these SSIDs, and that one is setup as WEP (I know...I know). I have been tasked with getting the users on a stronger security setup, and I thought that the best way would be to have them use WPA2 Enterprise, and they would authenticate to the network using their Active Directory user name and password.
I have been trying to get the secondary SSID converted over to do this, but I am stuck. I have setup the access point (Cisco 1140) the way that I believe should work, and I have also went through the Radius server (Microsoft Server 2008 R2) and set it up with some suggestions I have ran while researching.
I am hoping someone can see what I am doing wrong, or guide me to setup a more secure connection. My networking/Cisco skills are intermediate so there are things that I miss or could improve on at times.
I am attaching the config on the access point, and some screen shots off of our Radius server.
The radius server is 10.90.9.9
SSID that I am trying to configure is AAA
AP IP address 10.90.6.6
Please let me know if there is any information that I am missing. I will get it to you right away.
Edit - One thing I didn't include was that we don't have a certificate for this. Preferably I would like to set this up without a cert, and just have them authenticate with the user/pass from AD. If a cert is needed though, I can get one. Thanks :)
Thanks.

Hi Brent,
Here is a working configuration for similar requirement using ACS as RADIUS server. Hope it is useful for you to get this working.

• WCS Enterprise Setup with HA

Hi All,
i have to setup WCS Enterprise on several servers with a 1000 AP License and a Secondary Server "in the Middle". Can anybody help me with Informations regarding Licensing, how to setup the Secondary Server, in which step of the Installation do i define him as Secondary and how is the Licensing done?
Any Help Welcome, regards, Michael

To give a better picture, the secondary WCS can act as secondary for lots of primaries. It is constantly synched with all the primary WCS databases in that case. When one primary WCS goes down, the secondary goes active and runs that particular database.
This is why it doesn't require a license, would be a little mess otherwise :-) But the primary WCS must have a PLUS license though to have the HA feature.

• IPhone enterprise setup - security concerns

Dear all,
My company (3000+ users) is in the process of integrating the iPhone into the enterprise, and the ideal setup would be :
- OTA (Over The Air) sync of calendar and contacts with ActiveSync
- OTA push mail with ActiveSync
- ActiveSync policies enforcement (like passcode, etc...)
But :
- Users will have to sync their apps, music, photos, podcasts, ... from home; we do not wish to deploy iTunes on corporate computers; this could represent an important loss of productivity, and too much to cope with for our Helpdesk.
First question : does this make sense ?
Secondly, my concern as the company's security officer is : what happens to the corporate data when the iPhone is synced (and backed up) with the employee's private (aka. home) computer ? Does iTunes save Exchange data (settings, e-mails, calendar, contacts) to the computer ? If yes, is there a way to prevent this ?
Any answer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
jdm7

Cam you clarify your questions? What does "IT people warn that if include it in the server for sync will breach security on patients data" mean?
Do you mean if you sync with Exchange and there is patient info on the iphone? AHA.org says that encryption is not required, BUT it may be expected. IF Encryption is not required, but you do have patient data on the iPhone then you must at least:
1. Use SSL to sync with Exchange - this would protect the data in the air
2. Use the Apple Enterprise tools to force password lock on the iPhone and force a data wipe if so many incorrect passwords were entered.
That is at least at a minimum.

• IPad can't get in the internet via a WPA2 Enterprise setup

I've seen some similar posts and no real answers. My Office just got set up with Wireless, it's cisco gear and using RADUIS to authenticate. What they told us to do on the windows boxes was this:
Connect to the SSID
use WPA2 Enterprise Authentication
TKIP Encryption
Use PEAP Authentication
Uncheck the "Validate Server Certificate"
Authentication Method is EAP-MSCHAP v2 on the PEAP properties screen
Following these instructions on Windows 7 I can get on the network.
I tried this on my iPad:
connected to the network
selected WPA2 Enterprise
It Prompted my for my login/password
I entered them....
Then I got a certificate and it asked me to accept/install it, and I did
Then it connects to the access point and gets a signal
Even though I am connected and authenticated I can't get on the internet, and I get no IP address. Not a DHCP issue since other devices work.
Any ideas on alternate configurations, or what I'd need to do with the iPhone Configuration Utility to get this working?

"Unsupported" device - I've heard that before, too many times... =)
So after thinking on everything you've tried, it's safe to say that your AP is running PEAPv0 with EAP-MSCHAPv2 for Authentication. This is good news - as it is probably the most widely used Enterprise WiFi configuration, iOS devices should absolutely be compatible with this. Getting a non-domain XP PC connected was a great idea, as I have discovered that Windows XP is kind of "loose" in the way it handles PEAP certificates - it will accept any certificate given to it by a RADIUS server without question. Undoubtedly a big security hole, but it does have the advantage of being "user friendly." I don't think Apple's implementation is quite as loose, so even though you are manually accepting one certificate, you probably need more to complete the chain of trust required for your device to authenticate the server. This is a requirement for PEAP to function.
So at this point, I think your best bet would be to migrate over to the Credentials tab. If you're running the iPhone Config Utility on a PC which connects to the AP, you already have the certificates in your trusted certificate store - so simply hit the add button and add any relevant certificates. For example, if your domain is named "corporate", import any certificates bearing that domain. Once you've done this, head over to the Trust tab under WiFi and check off your newly imported certificates as being trusted for your connection.
In addition, if you can figure out what the name of the RADIUS server on the other end of the AP is doing the authentication, add it under "Trusted Certificate Names" - if you don't know it, you can also add a wildcard like "*.corporate" to trust any servers in your domain. This shotgun approach is probably your best bet for making it go initially.
You will know this is all working when you no longer get the dialog on your iPad to accept the certificate, and hopefully, you get an IP address.
We're truly in the thick of it now, and this is my last idea - so if this does not work, we will need to call on those stronger than I with iOS networking... or, you can call up your IT department and start the conversation off with the words "I bet you can't figure this out" - that always gets IT people going =)
Best of luck!

• UnknownHostException during OBPM Enterprise Setup

Hi,
when trying to configure the OBPM Enterprise while doing the WLST Script I get an UnknownHostException even though I can connect via WebLogic Scripting Console using the same host, port, username and password. Do I need something special for OBPM here?
I tried to use the hostname and the IP. Nslookup shows the correct domain resolution.

Just corrected a similar problem, my host name was not in DNS (only in a local hosts file) and for some reason t3 doesn't seem to use those very well.
To correct the connection edited the t3 parts in:
<domain_home>/init-info/startscript.xml
Took off the alias for the host and set "localhost" instead.
Hope this helps.

• Amazon AWS FMS - missing license key?

I have set up an Amazon AMI FMS instance which is working fine - but is behaving like a development edition.
When launching instances of my app from the Administration Console, I can only launch 5 or 6. After this, I see the instance name in the list, but in LiveLog there are no trace statements, and no log file is produced for that instance. It looks to me very much like I just ran out of NetConnections, as each instance needs to create proxy NetConnections to another app on the same server.
I ported this app straight from one of my own (Win98) FMS3.0 installations. I'm running the Administration Console remotely from the Win server.
I'm pretty used to the conf structure and files, and have checked several times. Maybe there's a new setting in 4.0, or maybe I'm just missing a license key...

Thank you!
I managed to resolve it. My app was built on FMS3.0, and when I ran it on FMS4.0 only 3 instances would start up. So I rebuilt the Application.xml from the template in the FMS4.0 conf, setting the process scope to app, and distributing over instances. All working fine now.
Still a great product.

• Enterprise setup and software

Dear friends,
I own a couple shoes retail stores. The information I get is through notebooks and paper material in general.
I would like to setup a database which will store data like customers, products, warehouse, etc.
I cannot use software to enhance accounting, since Greek law don't accept random developer ERP software, but the ones the gorvenment has approved.
Nevertheless, I don't care about enhancing accounting at the moment, I just wish to get better information route.
Would you propose a hardware (hardware & networking) and software setup that will effectively serve my information needs ??
After some googling, I think that a mac server running lightspeed and several iPads will serve me well...
Are there better alternatives ???
Thanks

Mac (does not need to be a server) runnig filemaker and couple of ipads with filemaker also loaded. up and running with 20 mins.

• Windows 8.1 Setup DVD does not see SSD

Windows 8.1 Enterprise x64 Setup DVD does not see Samsung SSD 840 Pro so cannot install Windows 8.1. The same SSD disk currently does have Windows 8 Enterprise and runs fine on the same laptop. Checked the Dell BIOS does see the SSD. Loaded the
latest drivers from the Dell website but did not help. Tried changing the BIOS settings from SSD to ACHI. When in setup did the SHIFT+F10 to run the DISKPART clean the partitions.
How do I troubleshoot why the Windows 8.1 Enterprise setup disc cannot see the SSD?

Hi,
According to your description, I would like to confirm if you can see SSD under the Diskpart.
If you can see the SSD under the Diskpart,I think it is related to the installation DVD.
I suggest we use a new installation DVD to test it.
Also, you can create a bootable USB flash drive, and then use the USB flash drive to install Windows.
Keep post.

Hi,
I'm using FMS Enterprise 4.5 to develop Video-on-Demand system over p2p network. With a video, a create a Group (using NetGroup) and join client want view this video into Group.
My server store a lots video. What is maximum number of Group that FMS Enterpirse can support ? And maximum number client can join in a Group ?
My FMS is install on machine:
RAM: 2GB
Core 2 :2.0 GHz
HDD: 120GB
Thanks

Hi,
Modify the code as below,
shared dim Categories as new collection
shared Counter as integer=0
public function getGroupCounter(Item as String) as String
if Categories.contains(Item) then return "Group Footer " & Categories(Item).tostring()
Counter=Counter+1
Categories.add(Counter,Item)
return "Group Footer " & Counter.tostring()
end function
Then modify the expression that calls the code. You have to pass parameter that makes it unique througout your report. You may need to concatenate all the values of the group levels from 7 to 2 to achieve this like shown below.
=Code.getGroupCounter(Fields!Field1.Value & Fields!Field2.Value & Fields!Field3.Value)
Replace Field1, Field2 etc with the Field names you used in the group by while creating the groups.
Please feel free to discuss any further questions.

• FMS on EC2 in Europe (Ireland)

I was looking at the pricings page when i noticed Europe is not listed. Is FMS on EC2 available in Europe at all?
http://www.adobe.com/products/flashmediaserver/amazonwebservices/
And if not, which region would be best suited for NW europe? Is the connection good enough for bulk users?
This is somewhat important since we focus on europe.
Thanks,
B.

Thanks for your reply, but this is sounds disappointing. The startring costs of setting up our own FMS servers and aquiring the licences is somewhat prohibitive in stepping into the FMS (and most of all P2P) business, so the EC2 option was looking very attractive (for all the standard pro-cloud arguments).
Can you elaborate on why FMS on EC2 is not available in all Amazon Regions? My guess is it's probably some legal or business issue?
And regarding our options if we cannot run the standard Adobe provided AMI's:
Can we still instal FMS on EC2 ourselves if we get normal FMS Enterprise licences? And if we'd do that, what will this mean for the amount of RTFMP connection cap like the one that is applied to the instances based on the Adobe AMIs?

• FMS on EC2 are unstable

Hi,
I am using FMS on EC2 from March and its performance make me please. Unfortunately, it becomes unstable from this weekend, we can not connect to FMS in our video chat even though we do not modify any changes in client and server code, the proof is when we download the development server and connect our app to this server, our app works perfectly. I also check the port 80. 1935 and it worked as expected.
I also use the test port program http://www.jakehilton.com/?q=node/43, and sometimes the connection RTMP (port 80, 1935) works well and sometimes it does not. I do think the FMS is not unstable but not sure how to fix. Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks much.
Best regards,
Hai Nguyen

• Install Forms 6i to work with existing 8i setup

I am trying to install Forms 6i for use with an existing 8i Enterprise setup. When I ran the installation I was prompted for a new home. I specified a new home and Forms 6i was succesfully installed into this home. I wish to now use Procedure Builder and other Forms tools with the 8i database. When I am prompted to login to the database I specify my login and password and supply the 8i database name. I get an error TNS: could not resolve service name. What can I do to fix this?
