Azure Backup no longer working OBEngine issues?
I have a problem with the Vault backup since a while now (started around 22-10). The snap in reports the following error when I try to run a job manually:
"Error details: The Microsoft Azure Recovery Services Agent cannot connect to the OBEngine service. Verify that the OBEngine service is present in the Services Control Panel and that the port 6049 is available."
I read a few articles online and I noticed something has changed regarding the connection method between the server and the vault. I downloaded and installed the newest Azure client 2.0.8694.0 and downloaded a Vault Credential file. When I do the ‘register
server’ I receive an error at the end stating:
"Failed to set the encryption key for secure backups. The encryption passphrase provided does not match with passphrase associated with the following server: Server.Domain.local Ensure that the encryption passphrase is configured properly."
And I am still receiving the first error when I try to manually start a back-up job. I have also deinstalled the Azure client and installed it again. I have turned off the firewall and virus scanner. I checked if the service was running, it is. I also rebooted
the server. Is there anyone who can help me out? It did work fine before it just got ‘broken’ somewhere along the line.
The installation steps are understandable and I’ve followed all steps you basically described … couple of times…and I end up with the same error message: “Following error occurred during Microsoft Azure Backup SnapIn operation.
Error details: The Microsoft Azure Recovery Services Agent cannot connect to the OBEngine service. Verify that the OBEngine service is present in the Services Control Panel and that the port 6049 is available."
The Microsoft Azure Recovery Services Agent (obengine) service is up and running (Started/Manual).
When Microsoft Azure Recovery Services Agent SnapIn is closed and reopened the same message appears in the SnapIn window immediately after opening.
Yesterday I created new backup vault, downloaded and installed Agent, registered server with new credentials, scheduled backup, clicked backup now and …oops same error message…thus
looking for ideas.

I have been using a WD Passport with Time Machine on my iMac. Since I upgraded to Mavericks, the backup no longer works. What do I need to do?
I assume that upgrading the WD SmartWare is irrelevant as it is not being used. Should I upgrade just as a precaution?
One complication is that I have renamed my user since the last time I backed up.the problem is with the WD Passport drives. I also have one, and since upgrading to 10.9 I can no longer use mine either. See if this solution works for you: https://discussions.apple.com/message/23943103#23943103

I've been backing up the Sybase Inventory Database using 'STARTSER DBBACKUP,
as documented in Shaun Pond's Cool Solutions article. This has run as a
scheduled task via Remote Manager, has worked faultlessly for ages but has
suddenly stopped working. I'm almost certain that this coincided with the
update from ZfD4.0.1 IR4a to IR5. Nothing very helpful in the Logger Screen

Bank card is no longer working, payment issues
My brother bought a game on my account and I had to reverse it in my bank, now the card bought it on is void, and I cant use my account due to payment issues. How can I fix this?
Contact your bank and make sure they havnt denied iTunes access to authorise the card. You could also contact AppleCare for assistance. Its going to be an issue with your bank or iTunes.

I tried to backup my computer and it didn't make any progress for many hours. After a few hours I gave up and closed the backup panel. I restarted the computer and now the panel comes blank with the external backup drive plugged in. If I double click
the backup folder on the external drive and click restore I keep getting the error dialogue, "The parameter is incorrect. (0x80080057)".
If I don't plug in the drive it and click Options > Change backup settings I get the same error dialogue. Note, the backup control panel displays and says the drive is not plugged in and shows the last time I attempted to backup. It says that backup was
complete but some files were skipped. The error code is 0x8100002F.
I tried to solve the problem using: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982736/en-us It did not help.
I have looked into some of the logs and found this:

Someone else had this problem: http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f299/solved-windows-7-backup-0x80070057-error-546542.html
They had a restore image and could go back to an earlier time. I do not have this option.
What can I do?Hi,
I doubt this was External harddrive problem. Please check Event log about VSS error log. If there is any error message with VSS.
If so, please refer to the link below for more details about VSS error.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee692290(v=ws.10).aspx
In addition, please also try to backup your system to other location for test if it had same problem. If not, it should be external drive problem.

Understanding Azure Backup Retention
I'm not seeing the expected behavior of Azure Backup regarding retention. Since Azure Backup is charged by the amount of data stored, we intend to keep the cost as low as possible by only storing the most recent backup. That is, we expect to only
pay for the storage costs of one day's worth of recover points, which in our case will be one because we do only one backup per day. We are still performing onsite backup, and there we keep many days worth of backup recovery points.
On the Microsoft Azure Backup application's main screen, under "Destination usage" it shows "Retention: 1 days". However, I see under "Available Recovery Points" it shows "Total backups: 15", "Latest
copy: 12/29/2014 4:30 AM", "Oldest copy: 12/19/2014 12:35 PM". When I visit the Recovery Services "PROTECTED ITEMS" on
https://manage.windowsazure.com/, I see the number of "RECOVERY POINT", "NEWEST RECOVERY POINT", and "OLDEST RECOVERY POINT" shown match the same values displayed on the Microsoft
Azure Backup application's main screen.
Why is Azure Backup retaining more recovery points than expected? Why is it retaining recovery points for more days than requested?
Trilon, Inc.I'm happy to provide you with any information I can to help diagnose and repair this issue. But first, let me catch you up with my situation.
A change has occurred in my situation since I posted my question regarding understanding Azure Backup retention. I separately posted a question regarding Azure Backup on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard fails to back up thousands of files with CATALOG FAILURE
0x80131500 (see
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/fb0c64f3-0066-4580-a21d-75e5af9fc879/azure-backup-on-windows-server-2008-r2-standard-fails-to-back-up-thousands-of-files-with-catalog?forum=windowsazureonlinebackup). In an attempt to resolve the issue myself,
I tried to install 3 different updates/patches/hotfixes. In addition, while working on the problem with a Microsoft Support Engineer, I was directed to re-register the servers with Azure Backup. After all those changes, Azure Backup no longer worked at all
on either server. Then, when I was told the CATALOG FAILURE 0x80131500 issue was resolved in the Microsoft backend servers, I deleted the Azure Backup vaults and uninstall the the Azure Backup software on both of my troubled servers. Finally, I downloaded
and installed a fresh copy of the latest Azure Backup software, created new vaults, and started performing backup again. As expected, the CATALOG FAILURE 0x80131500 errors no longer occured. It appears that there never was a problem with either of my servers;
instead, the CATALOG FAILURE 0x80131500 root cause was indeed located in the Microsoft backup servers, and is now fixed.
Because of the starting over described above, I no longer have quite so many unexpected Available Recovery Points. However, I again have more than one showing up on my Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard and Windows Small Business Server 2011, despite both having
a retention setting of 1 day and performing one daily backup job.
So now I'll try and supply the requested information:
1) The Azure backup agent numbers: Tell me where I can find them, and I'll provide them.
2) Here's the requested Windows Registry value requested for our DJTS system, running Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard:

Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I am unaware of any changes to the VM apart from the usual windows updates.
Kind regards,
JayHi,
If the issue is more about Windows Azure backup, i think you may ask in:

After updating with iTunes 12.1 for Windows 8.1, when I restarted my computer, my headphones no longer work. According to my computer they do. Is this an iTunes issue? I did the audio troubleshooting and it says everything is fine. I have a Toshiba Satellite L75D-A7280.
Download/install an app is a know possible solution.
3. Install another app from the App Store
If all user-installed apps are not launching, it could be an Apple ID authorization issue. Download and install an app that isn't already installed on your device to reset this information.
Note: If you have installed apps using multiple Apple ID accounts, you may need to perform this step for each account.

Is it possible to recover my data from iCloud backup without working wifi? I have as many other upgraded my iPhone 4S to iOS 7.0.2 with the result that the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth no longer works. However, i can connect to iTunes via cable but there is wrong version of backup.
Answer is no.
If you want the iCloud backup you have to have n internet connection, thus WiFi.
The not working WiFi has happened with quite a number of users.
It is not exactly clear what is the cause but there are suggestions to clear it up:
Some people have had success by removing an apostrophe from the iPhone name. If your iPhone is called something like “John’s iPhone” then this might work. Go to Settings > General > About > Name and change it to something with no apostrophe.
Some people have reported success by putting the iPhone into Airplane mode and then going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings, but the problem may return.
You could also try going to Settings > Control Center and disable Access on Lock Screen then turn your iPhone off and on again.
Make sure that your router firmware is up to date.
Try backing up your iPhone and then restoring it. Check how to factory reset an iPhone for details.
If nothing is working for you, try contacting Apple or take your iPhone into an Apple Store.

I just installed Mountain Lion on my iMac. But In was dismayed to find that my Canon scanner software (Canoscan LIDE500F)no longer works. Nor do any of my MS offce applications. I tried to use time machine to reinstall Snow Leopard (my previous operating system), but unfortunately my time machine backups did not include system software. Also, the original system install disk that came with my iMac would not allow me to install Snow Leopard in place of Mountain Lion. I would appreciate it if somebody could tell me how to solve this problem.
The reason your Office doesn't work is because it is PowerPC code. If you will upgrade the 2004 Office to 2011 Office then that will work.
I don't understand how you managed to get your Time Machine backup to not backup the system.
Now if you still what to downgrade you will have to erase the disk and reinstall Snow Leopard. Most likely all of your application and then restore your data from Time Machine.
To me it sounds like it would be easier to upgrade your software and stay with Mountain Lion instead.

After I unplug headphones, the speakers no longer work until rebooted. Anyone else experience this? Also had the same issue on the Droid Razr Maxx.
Ahh. We can still help find the culprit, TeaParty14. Do you have any 3rd party applications installed to play your music? Are you able to hear any audio if you plug the headphones back into the phone instead of rebooting? Any audio for calls through the phone direct or through speakerphone?

y Time Capsule is working fine with ethernet connection, but it is no longer working with wifi, probably because of my wrong setting; is there a way to reset wifi setting without losing backuped data? Thanks you all
Giancarlo Messalli wrote:
1) are you sure a reset holding the reset button will not delete my data?
Absolutely sure.. There is no connection at all.. reset is only the router side of the TC.
For the hard disk to be erased you need to access the airport utility disk page.. request erase and confirm the operation.
2) I can access to time capsule by ethernet but I am not able to input the corret setting by myself
Thank you again
I am uncertain why if you have access you cannot change settings.. but that is why you reset things so any of those problems should be fixed.
Here is the Apple info on reset.
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3728
And here is the quote from the horse's mouth so to speak.
Factory default reset: Perform this reset if you wish to repurpose the AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule and want to remove all personal profiles and settings first. This reset resets the device to its state when you first purchased it. Data stored on internal or external hard drives connected to the device will not be erased. If you choose, you may manually erase the hard drive using AirPort Utility. -
I have a Mac Pro using Lion, with SSD for system drive. Drive stopped booting, but otherwise appeared healthy. Restored from system backup. Now drive seems to work properly, BUT my logon password no longer works. Password OK for account; can access system preferences, and change user password there BUT logon still refuses to accept password. No luck changing password for that account after adding new administrator account and logging on from that account. Suggestions? Thanks.
If you redirect Accounts to another location (not on the Boot Drive) you need to direct them back there again after a restore.
SystemPreferences > Accounts/User&Groups > ...
... Unlock the lock, then hold down Control as you click on an Account to get access to the Advanced Options pane.
