Hi Nilanchal,
As per my knowledge there are numerous openings in BASIS area. Post your CV on various job portal and search for job over there. You can also contact different placment consultancy located in Mumbai for you help. Also visit career section of SAP if there is any opening. There are many companies in Mumbai/Pune which are in SAP domain and there must be openings for BASIS guys. I doubt that anyone here can provide you name of the company where openings are.
The best way is job portal to look for openings.
All the best.

  • Sample exam paper for SAP Basis Admin

is there any website where i can download the sample exam paper of SAP Basis admin?

    Hi,
There are lots of technical questions for MS SQL Server, you should know the db in order to answer.
I would suggest you to call SAP and ask them to make the exam for the database you know. Usually is like that, they dont force you to make whatever exam, you have to tell them which platform and database you would like to make the exam for.
    Good luck,

  • SAP Basis/Abap components with diff Version inEnterprise Service Builder

    Dear Experts,
We have PI 7.4 system in our environment, when i check content in ESR, i have found different versions components as below.
    SAP ABA  7.30
    SAP BASIS 7.02 & SAP BASIS 7.40
I would like to know, since system is 7.4 version, do I need to maintain SAP ABA & Basis with 7.4 content only. Would there be any impact on developments/Models which are done using above version of ESR Content if I upload 7.40 Version content.
If I am not wrong developments/Models done with above versions would work with 7.40 too, but keen on to know what would be impact if I upload
    7.40 Content in system.
Is there any possibility migrate developments/models/object to *tpz from above versions to 7.40 , if required.
I have checked SAP Note 1632370 - Maintenance of ESR Content (XI Content),SAP Note 1865292 - SAP NetWeaver 7.4: Import of ESR-Content,
and also link Importing ESR Content - Configuring Process Integration (PI) After Installation - SAP Library
still i dont see any information related to PI 7.4
SAP Note 1632370 has attachment where it only provides 7.30 version related ESR information.

    ks

    Hi Giridharan,
    Thanks for reply.
I have gone through sap note 1868799 - SAP Basis ESR content versions after PI upgrade had clarified my questions.
There is no issue with seeing multiple versions of the SAP Basis content in the ESR or in the Integration Builder.
The Communication Channels will continue to work as normal using the old SAP Basis version.
The SAP Basis content contains the Adapter Metadata.
New adapter features are delivered with this Adapter Metadata.
If you have no business requirement to use any new features, then you don't need to make any changes to the existing channel configurations.
If you do have a requirement to use any new features, then you will need to change from the pre-upgrade version to the new PI version.
New channels can use either the older SAP Basis versions or the new SAP Basis version (it makes more sense to use the newer version).

  • Learning SAP Basis

    Hello,
I was hired to be an SAP Basis Engineer, however, I have no prior experience in SAP. I have spent the last week reading SAP administration books from SAP Press, browsing the internet for information, and asking various coworkers for their advice in learning how to complete job tasks.
Starting my second week of learning Basis, I am still unable to find the SAP Mini Basis system I have read about online. It seems that the trial software was available a few years back, but since then all the links have died. I would like to download this software so that I can get experience with the actual SAP GUI and or configuring a system even if it is only a limited and simplified version. Is there still some form of trial software out there that I can get? I understand that learning such a complicated system takes time. However, I feel like the ability to work in a test environment of some sort such as the SAP Mini system would be extremely beneficial to solidifying my knowledge in various areas.
In the event there is truly no visualization software or other way to get practice with the software, does anyone have any other recommendation for learning how to administer and implement SAP NetWeaver and its components. Right now, I am reading the SAP AS ABAP - System Administration book from SAP Press. The book is giving me a good conceptual understanding of the system and its' components. However, as I said I feel like I am missing some of the resources to truly absorb a working knowledge of the system.
    Thanks!

How did you land an SAP Basis Engineer job with no experience??
    Regardless...throw away those press books.
As others said, concentrate on what OS and DB you are on. Using your S-ID, download the manuals for the products. Don't get too carried away yet, Netweaver product line is huge. I would say for now if your serious about basis, stay out of SOLMAN until you get your foundation of the ABAP stack in basis.
Start by reading, get the Software Provision manager 1.0 for your OS and DB. Read that. Get the concepts behind an installation and types.
look here for tons of material./ SAP Help Portal – The central place for SAP documentation
I would read this section SAP NetWeaver 7.3 – SAP Help Portal Page
Simple concepts on knowing what versions you are, how to tell, understanding netweaver stacks.
    Learn the PAM http://service.sap.com/pam
    Oh man...its so big....good luck..use the forums..use google..
I personally had a server/networking background and was sent to SAP Academy for 5 weeks and too basis boot camp...kick started my career...but today im considered a senior Basis yet still so much I don't know..its just that big..
    good luck

  • SAP Implementation with a basis admin!

    Dear friends,
I don't know where could I post this topic and I think may be is this subforum is to fit in! I need your advices all
I have just worked with SAP for 1 years as a basis admin. My work is setup SAP systems: ECC6, Solution Manager, CRM.. and fix error in system daily.
At this moment I want to know a big picture of the work of a basis admin or exactly is a team lead in a SAP project about technical like: Sizing system( hardware, network throughput, Solution Manager and other SAP systems like ECC...), setup systems in some way.
In my vision I thinks that the process may be :
    1. Sizing System
And if the Customer is accepted I will go to setup system.
    2. Design a system landscape, setup and Solution Manager first.
    3. Setup others systems...
But I think what I known was not enough! I am finding some tutorial or a book which teach me carefully
Could you give your advice and recommend to me some book which is suite for me, give me a point view a SAP project management in technical for a basis admin.
    Thanks and Best Regards.

Not sure which forum would be better to discuss basis literature advise.
So I pass, except that while waiting you could start reading through the Netweaver forum category forums, wikis, blogs. That should keep you busy for a while...
    Cheers,
    Julius

  • CAreer in SAP BASIS comaprision with SAP GRC/Security

    Hi Everyone,
I am an SAP BASIS consultant with 2 years of experience working in a MNC company,
I want to change my career to SAP GRC/SAP Security, i have some basic knowledge on SAP Security,
COuld you please advice me, which one to choose,?
Does  SAP GRC/Security has demand , and can we get oportunities to work abroad compared to SAP BASIS ?
which one has more scope SAP BASIS or SAP Security/GRC ?
Because in BASIS, i am not getting enough scope to work on some good things like Installation, upgrades, Migration,
i am doing a very basic kind of work like tranports, job scheduling, monitoring, and other small activities ?
So request you people to advice me ?

    Hi Rakesh
I saw your post in GRC and was waiting of it to appear here
First up - 2 years is still junior. You may find batch jobs, transports, monitoring, etc all mundane but it is a foundation and learning ground work and foundations to being a good Basis Administration. And one things for sure, an awesome basic (I name my best-techy-friend) makes a huge difference on project timelines and deliverables for the rest of us.
Installation and Upgrades come with time. Whilst still performing junior tasks you could focus on reading up on approaches in case an opportunity in your job comes us and be prepared to prove to your management that you are ready for a bigger responsibility.
Switching to GRC/Security would be pointless unless you have a desire to learn GRC or Security. These are my background and they are undervalued until things go wrong (insurance policy in a way).
If you do switch you will reset your 2 years of domain experience back to 0 and you will start off with password resets and basic user administration
It takes time to work through the ranks. It was 3 years before I got to build my first role. I spent my first few years in security on email chasing approvals, password resets, user account creation, running reports for audit - sounds familiar to what you are doing now?
You have to master the basics before you are trusted and ready for the more complex activities. By knowing what you are doing now you will be more successful when the time comes to step up and do migrations, upgrades and installations. Support production by mastering you technical analysis skills is how you can break through being a fresher/junior
    Regards
    Colleen
Ps - if your motivation is more than "good things" happy to answer questions specific to security and GRC.
Also, boring doesn't mean it can't get interesting nor does it mean it's a worthless activity: SPAU transport imported before patching!!

  • How to get a Job as SAP BASIS Fresher

    Hello Master's,
I'm Raju Maddu and I'm from Vizag (Visakhapatnam). I have completed my B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering at 2012. Once I've completed B.Tech, I started my career in the Education industry as System Administrator along with CCNA training at NIIT. And I have 2 years experience in that field.
I did a lot of research and I found that I have a good career ahead of me in the SAP BASIS domain. I joined a institute and I did the BASIS course. They have provided real time training with the SAP BASIS tools and t-codes & Security. And I have real time experience in SAP BASIS.
However, I don't have the SAP certification. I'm trying to get in to the SAP basis field. I also don't know how to reach a right contact for getting a job as a fresher in SAP BASIS.
Please let me know how to get a job as a BASIS fresher. Any help will be very much appreciated.
    Regards.

    Hi Raju,
its somewhat too tough to get a job in SAP as a fresher, but it doesn't mean that it is impossible.
I will only sujjest you to upload your resume at all leading job-portals, but please search any small
scale industry, where sap has been implemented, and talk to them (i know its not easy, but never
    loose your hope anyways).
You have told that, the training institute has provided you real time exposure, but for your kind information, these things are not calculated as a real time exposure in any companies,
if you work in any organization, then only it will be counted.
So, search, search and search, untill you get a job, even in starting if salary will be low, just
catch it, once you will get right exposure, it becomes fruitful for you.

  • SAP BASIS - Can System Admin experience (Non-SAP) transfer into SAP Basis?

Greetings everyone, I hope you are well this weekend.
I've heard how great SAP careers are for the dedicated and I'm doing my research to find out if an SAP career is viable and if so which is a good entry point. I've read a book by John Von Aspen and in his book he suggests starting out in a customer service rep position for an SAP company as an end user to use as an entry point, but for my background is there another way?
I'm a computer science graduate of DeVry in Atlanta with Technical Support experience and I'm currently working in an IT customer service position. My career has only begun and I'm in the process of mapping out the best route to start in SAP. I'm looking into BASIS as a starting point out of all the functional modules and technical roles available but I am open to all areas. If the next point in my career map were a System Administration role, and if I were to have a few years experience in that role, could I transfer the skills gained into an SAP BASIS administrator? Between now and then I would have done much self study from books and any online courses I could afford. However would I still be short of what a hiring manager is looking for if I don't have an direct experience with SAP Basis?
If such a path would not be viable, what would be the next best step to take coming from Tech/Customer Support?
    Thank you,
    Sabir

    Hi Sabir
I have not read his book so cannot comment too much on that. However, I did a quick search and saw his background is CRM. Perhaps his recommended career path was an example based on his background?
It sounds like you are a planner which is a good trait to have if you are determined to switch over. What sort of technical support are are you doing? If you are a recent graduate you might be able to look to apply to graduate programs in some consultancies (I won't mention names but if you google SAP consultancy graduate position you will find a heap of names).
As far as getting across to Basis the sort of research you could do is look at the SCN communities for System Administration and see they times of themes of the questions. To transition from general system administration to SAP you could look at skilling up with Databases (e.g. Oracle), Operating Systems, Networks, etc. These skills will compliment the Basis skill set but also protect your investment should a SAP job not work out - you still have skills to be valued elsewhere.
In relation to training and education, you want might to research about the SAP Learning Hub. If you are good at self-teaching and learning online this would be a good way for you to invest in training and go at your own pace and keep your cost down. There is a free discovery edition for you to see what the course content it like but it does not give you much of the system administration component.
I would hold off going for any certification (cost) unless until you some experience (unless ofcourse, it becomes a requirement for the job).
The final bit for getting into SAP is investigate the companies that use SAP. Keep looking out for job opportunities to join one of them and then find a way to move into the SAP system administration area.
Good luck with it all and if you have any specific question let us know
    Cheers
    Colleen
