[b]java.lang.OutOfMemoryError.......PLEASE HELP A.S.A.P.!!!!!![/b]
I am currently writing code for a database software using Joins, Collections, Vectors, etc. and when running the code I keep getting a java.lang.OutOfMemoryError. The thing is that I have a parser that parses through different XML files and Java files. It seems as though some of my collections need more space or something else doesn't have enough memory for the parser to pick up everything. It only happens after I add a new constrainable or selectable to the XML file and try and run Queries with that (at least that is where I think the problem is). At this point I have no clue as to what is going on. Could someone please help me out.

This is touching on the obvious but can you refer to your logs and find out where your program is running out of memory. I have a sneaky suspcion your're in a loop with an condition gone horribly wrong.
Based on your system specs, your collections should be able to handle your data.

I'm trying to build a JSP web application with Apache Tomcat 4.0 on Linux, using PostgreSQL database.
The test page for building a connection to the database is very simple.
However, unfortunately, I always get the following error message from the web server.
The code is also show below.
I have another Tomcat server working on Window2000 with Oracle. So I change the JDBC driver to Oracle on that machine, and it works fine.
I guessed I might have some problem with the Tomcat setting, but I'm not sure what I need to change.
The directory of my web application is built under the webapps.
And I've added JAVA_HOME, JAVA_HOME/lib/tool.jar, and JDBC for PostgreSQL to my CLASSPATH.
Is there any other configuration that I missed?
Please help if you see the problem.

We are facing this 'Exception in thread "DoSManager" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: nativeGetNewTLA' exception in our production logs. Our JVM as part of WebLogic Server is BEA JRockit(R) Version R27.6.5-32_o-121899-1.6.0_14 and linux-x86_64.
This is how our JVM is configured:

As I understand if we don't configure above parameters then default values will be considered. Our concern is whenever this exception occurs our application crashes obviously because JVM is not able to execute the code because of insufficient memory. Do we need to tune our JVM or do we need to fix issues in our code? My next task is actually to do the Heap Dump analysis on the Production heap dump which would have been taken when there is an 'OutOfMemoryError' outage for better analysis. For heap dump analysis we will be using MAT.

You can set these values in CommEnv.sh (.cmd for windows) file located in the weblogic_home/common/bin directory.
This gets applied to all the domains under that wls home.
If you want to make the changes to specific domain then edit the SetDomainEnv.sh file located under the domain/bin directory.

For anyone who considers themselves a java expert....could you please be of assistance? I have been chatting at www.bodyforlife.com for several weeks now and all the sudden I can't get in. I do know that other people are still able to get in as well. When I try to connect applet initializes and then says applet started when I try to enter then nothing happens. My java console says java.lang.outofmemoryerror. I have Windows 2000 and am running a Mcaffee firewall. Does anyone have any idea why I all the sudden can not get into this chat room? you need to make periodic writes to persistent storage. This is a common scalability issue. At some point you will always run out of memory.
Increasing usable memory will not necessarily fix your problem. Maximum virtual memory is around 2GB on most Windows systems. If your entries take up more than "4 bytes" each, then you will never have enough memory. -

I am using multiple threads on that and when I run the program in Sun Java Wireless Toolkit, the error message "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError" appear. May I know what is the cause of this problem? I try to assign all class object as null, but the problem still there. My game has 3 stages. For example, after the first stage, I would like to clear the memory buffer like the heap memory, then only load the second stage. Otherwise, the memory may not enough when the stages increased. So, is there any other way to clear the buffer for garbage collection?
In my game, it has a menu. The menu has the option like "New Game", "Help", "Exit". Whenever the game is start, the menu will add-in another option - "Continue", which will allows user back to the game and continue it.
Everytime when I select "New Game", the game will start running, and when I press for menu, the game will pause automatically and then show the menu list. In this case, the game is still in the memory, but in paused state. If I choose "New Game" from the menu, it means it will restart a new game.
My problem is that when I restart a new game, the heap memory still keeping the previous game. How could I delete the previous game's memory, so that whenever the new game is selected, the heap memory that store previous game would be cleared and the memory buffer will always store the current game only? -

I am currently writing code for a database software using Joins, Collections, Vectors, etc. and when running the code I keep getting a java.lang.OutOfMemoryError. The thing is that I have a parser that parses through different XML files and Java files. It seems as though some of my collections need more space or something else doesn't have enough memory for the parser to pick up everything. It only happens after I add a new constrainable or selectable to the XML file and try and run Queries with that (at least that is where I think the problem is). At this point I have no clue as to what is going on. Could someone please help me out.

Hi, I have a CSV button(Comma Separated Value) on my page which downloads the JSP results to excel spreadsheet. I know the limit for CSV is around 64,000 but even for 30,000 records I get java.lang.OutOfMemoryError while downloading. Can anyone please tell me how to correct this error? I developed the CSV code from JDEVELOPER10G.

to the applet where it is displayed. That is an instance of a class not the class itself.
The applet then

XML Publisher report failing with java.lang.outofmemoryerror.

We have developed a custom Oracle report that produces an XML output file that is about 13M in size (about 18K rows from the database). When running report as concurrent request, post processing fails with java.lang.outofmemoryerror. The failure occurs when specifying output format as Excel, RTF or HTML. However, the process completes successfully when specifying output format as PDF. We have also noticed that Excel, RTF and HTML will complete successfully if the XML data file is smaller (around 3M).
Is anyone aware of a restriction on the size of the XML data file when specifying output formats Excel, RTF or HTML? We have tried setting temp directory but that has not helped.

5. Save the change and retest the issue.
6. If the report still fails with the option set to -Xmx512M change the value to -Xmx1024M, save and try again
7. Migrate the solution as appropriate to other environments. -

Does that mean you are running CF8 without updater1 applied? If updater1 was there I would expect JVM 1.6.0_04. Give that is correct you could apply updater1 and once that is done even update the JVM to a more current version. I see Java Dev Kit 1.6.0_23 is current, I have successfully used CF8 with 1.6.0_22.
There might be some interesting detail in the coldfusion-out.log file which likely is in [CF]\runtime\logs or [Jrun]\logs pending server or multiserver.

I have seen in the above discussions that reducing the the heap size (Xmx) would give a solution, can any one please suggest me how much do I have to reduce my Xmx.

Out of memory they can result from different causes:
- The application is consuming too many resources inappropriately
- The application is opening and not enough threads are closing, leaving no space for the JVM
- You lose the connection with database, causing the connection pool is saturated, which makes the memory of the container is depleted and reaches its peak.
- The container does not have sufficient resources or is not tuned to meet the load generated. But would recommend to discard the above before using this option, because when using this option could work around the problem but could not really be attacking the cause.
