B&W Picture with color showing in one area

Can you do this in Lightroom and if yes, how? I am sure there is a tutorial out there but I don't know what terms to search. So the example I'm looking for is like those b&w pictures with kids where the rose they are holding is the only thing with actual color. I'm going to ask in the PS section as well but thought I'd ask here JIC. Thanks!!

Problem with colors showing in PE10

Is there a known problem with color in Elements 10?
I have a gif that when opened in paint shows the light blue color correctly but in PSE10 shows as a buff color.
Red, yellow and blue seem about right.
It doesnt matter if it is the gif or the psd file the color showns the same in PSE10.
Is there a setting or could something be corrupted.

Sound, but no picture with tv show playback on ipod

So, I've downloaded the newest version of iTunes and it's telling me that my iPod software is up to date, but I've noticed that since I downloaded the new iTunes, I can't watch TV shows I've downloaded in iTunes. The shows are listed in my iPod, but when I click to watch them, it just shows me the name of the episode and the show, and then a a title card screen to the left, like when you're playing a song and the album work is displayed. I can hear the show, but the picture never comes, it's just that screen with the show and title card. Any ideas? Again, iTunes is telling me I'm up to date with iPod software, but I'm not so sure, and there's no other way to update your iPod now right? Pleeease help, I'd like to watch my shows. Thanks.

This is because TV Out is enabled.
On your iPod go to Videos-->Video Settings-->TV Out-->Off. Now try playing the videos. They should work fine.
Also, make sure that you are accessing the videos via the "Videos" menu.

The effects appear to be accumulating - and they might not be exactly the same, but they all end up in the same state (iTunes not responding - ball spinning - having to force quit) - on my side I can definitely reproduce the "iTunes not responding" also if nothing is or has been streaming. For the time being once I force quit I select "report to apple" - maybe somebody at apple is reading those ...
Your case indicates that something in iTunes is still alive at the time of the freeze - your current movie streams out normally, the Apple TV sees your homesharing mac mini as active and does not stop the movie. I am assuming when trying to access the next movie the Apple TV timeouts and report an error accessing your library (correct? - this is what I get once I try to access the library with iTunes frozen). Do I read correctly that you cannot start the next one after a Force-Quit of iTunes?
Means to me that the size of the library, use of a mac mini, use of Apple TVs and the upgrade to iTunes11.1 are the correlating parameters between our systems - dj191 did not reflect on "access to the iTunes store" as a cause of a problem and I am for now assuming that my double NAT configuration is potentially not a common parameter.

Thanks for that, but actually you can open a video clip with FCP "Open with ... FCP", have ben doing that for years, as well as import and dragging etc.
Still nor resolved issue, FCP opens, appears in
the tool bar, but no canvas, library etc etc, very weird.
Have uninstalled, re-installed, same problem. And have a stack of work to do.

B&W Picture with one area with color

I am sure there is a tutorial out there but I can't think of a good search term(s) to find it. I am just trying to get the effect like those b&w pictures of a little boy and girl and then the rose they are holding is red and is the only thing with color. I know I could do this with a mask but I'm really new too it. Plus, how do I get all of the tones that I want to look nice in both the color and b&w at the same time? Thanks for any advice!

You hit the nail on the head! Definitely not my style but the client wanted it. I guess that explains why I didn't know the best way to do it - LOL!
I think it turned out pretty decent given the limited amount of time I had to dedicate to it. I just did the b&w adjustment layer and painted black over the area of the photo where I wanted color to come through. I then flattened the image and finished editing it in Lightroom. I was able to adjust the curves and other sliders fine for the black and white/color combo. The only thing that didn't work was adjusting the b&w color channels (?) probably because I lost the ability to do that when I put it into Lightroom from PS. It still turned out very nice though.

I have a question about the calendar on the ipad2. I have multiple calendars in different colors. Some of the events are filled in with color. Others are just listed with a colored dot in front of the event. Any ideas why events ar showing up differently?

I am trying to send as attachement. I have tried to screen shot but must not have a clue how to! Is there a number someone can walk me through this.. or if you could tell me how to screen shot it. I am trying the print screen but not working. I have never done on a computer before. My system is Dell Pentium Dual Core [email protected] 4.00GB 64 Bit Windows Vista. I tried to download a trial of LR4 so I could get some work done until prob fixed but it tells me my system not compatible. I am thinking of creative cloud but will this work with my system. I use LR for 100% of my editing but have been doing other things (newborns) where I feel I need CS6. If you could let me know what I need to do to run the new LR and CS6 that would be great. One of the comments suggests you can't use greater than or less than with the star rating in Finder.
You might try a Raw Query with the kMDItemStarRating.
In the criteria popup menu, select Other, then find the Raw Query entry.
You might have to play around with the syntax, but try "kMDItemStarRating >= 3"

could do with the sample PNG file in the article, and how much time it took.
The results I achieved in the article took only a few minutes to
complete--though as I mention below, it took more than a few minutes to get
to the point where I could do it in a few minutes.
I happened across a web site one day discussing the techniques in Margulis'
LAB Color book, which interested me enough to purchase it. I found the book
very enlightening and have seen incredible results using the techniques he
describes as applied to my various images. I've also ready his Professional
Photoshop book which focuses more on CMYK, and found many techniques in
there just as enlightening.
Ultimately the tools and techniques used are irrelevant if you get the
results you want... but if you find one that works faster, easier or better,
then certainly you should employ it.
I have no problem working in RGB, CMYK or LAB and find benefits from each.
The particular sample image I used in the article was one that I've spent
(too much) time cleaning up in various ways and in various color spaces (or
combinations thereof). It became my "poster child" image to work on as I
continue to build my Photoshop skills. The approach I used in the article
was the one I found most to be the fasted with the most effective results.
The original was a 6MP JPG file. I reduced it to the size in the article and
then worked on that size for the remaineder of the article. The resutls are
equivelant in the fullsize file.

I purchased a season of a tv program. my library use to show how many episodes were in there. now nothing. when i click on the picture the episodes show up but with 2

My library in itunes use to show how many episodes of Eureka season 5 i have. Now there is no number in the top right picture of the TV show. When I click on the picture it shows what episodes are in there but it has 2 # 13's. How do I correct this if at all possible?

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). (On iPhoto 11 this option is under the File -> Reveal in Finder.) Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/ Library/ Caches...
5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
If none of these help: As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

I have a problem with color prints from photoshop elements 12. The pictures are too light and with strange colors. I have a Canon pixma mg615I0 printer and use mac os X yosemite. The pictures are taken with a coanon eos 550d in the color space sRGB. I have followed adobes recommendations and have tried both letting the printer respektive photoshop manage the colors. But nothing works. I see that there are different opinions about which is best to do so I tried both. I have the latest printer driver installed. Can anyone help me with this?

Do the following:
Print a test page from the printer. Perhaps the print head needs cleaning via its maintenance facility.
Let the printer manage colors, not PSE
Calibrate the monitor
