Hi
a friend of mine has a B109A printer that he has not used for 3 months 2 says ago he went to print off a picture but it would not print in landscape only portrait he has set it up for landscape even in print preview it says landscape but when it prints off its always in portrait his o/s is vista 32 bit any ideas/input would be grateful on this matter

Hello snarfvz,
Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand the printhead will not return to the center position. I would recommend following this HP document on A 'Carriage Jam' or '0X610000F6' Message Displays. This document will help you move the carriage over into the center.
Please make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector. This step is recommend by HP, as it will test out the power.
Also, try Resetting the Printer.
Let me know if these steps resolve your issue or not.

Follow the steps below and check if that resolve the issue:
1. Open Mcafee software, from the Virus and Spyware Protection section click on Schedule and run scans. Click on Real time scanning and then on Turn Off. select till I restart the PC and confirm by clicking the Turn Off button.
Now try reinstalling the HP Software and check if the installation goes as expected.
If the issue persists continue following the next steps below:
2. Open the run dialog by clicking both the Windows key and the R key on your keyboard. Type %windir% and click on OK.
3. Type hpoins*.dat into the top search bar, if there are any results rename the extention into old instead of dat. (e.g. hpoins1.old)
4. Type hpwins*.dat into the top search bar, if there are any results rename the extention into old instead of dat. (e.g. hpwins1.old)
5. Launch the Run dialog by clicking both the Windows key and the R key on your keyboard. Type MSIEXEC /UNREGISTER into the Run dialog and click on OK.
6. Launch the Run dialog by clicking both the Windows key and the R key on your keyboard. Type MSIEXEC /REGSERVER into the Run dialog and click on OK.
7. Run the installation file and check for any difference.

Can't install my printer HP Photosmart B109a-M on Windows 10

I upgraded my laptop (HP Pavillion 15 - P199sa | 64-bit) to Windows 10. I did a clean install afterwards because it was extremely slow but now it's working perfectly. Due to clean-installing, my HP Photosmart B109a-m printer is no longer installed. I tried to install it from the disk but look what happened: There is no install button, it's missing! So, I then downloaded HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows - from here It successfully detected my printer: It's downloading: Help! I got this message, I tried several times: After that, I downloaded the drivers from another website but I got the same problem as when I inserted the disk (see the first screenshot at the top of this post) What should I do!? Please help

I have a B109a Photosmart brand new. A pop up on the screen warns that a cartridge must be replaced, but can't turn it off, cliking on ok, or killing the process: it will restart by itself. It's a big problem, need help.

The Officejet 6500 E709n does have a Windows 8 driver, however, it does not have a Windows 8 RT driver which is what the MS Surface tablet uses. This would explain the message you are receiving.

Printing in Windows 8 and Windows RT

Wow! It Just Prints
You can easily print when you connect your new Windows 8 tablet, laptop, or desktop to your existing network with this HP printer.
HP has included basic (in-OS) drivers for your printer with the Windows 8 operating system and published two Windows 8 store applications.
What “just works”
Basic direct and network print from Windows 8 start tile programs like Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Firefox.
Basic print from desktop applications
Scan from desktop applications like MS Word and Paint.
Ink Level information from HP Printer Control and Scan from HP Scan and Capture Windows 8 store application.
You do not have to download any software or insert the printer CD.
At a high level, three steps are needed:
Connect the new Windows 8 tablet or PC to a home network with a connected HP Printer
Download HP Printer Control from the Windows 8 store.
Download HP Scan and Capture from the Windows 8 store.
Connect the new Windows 8 tablet or PC to a home network with a connected HP Printer
1.1. After a tablet or PC with Windows 8 is connected to a home network, HP basic print and scan drivers are connected automatically.
1.1.1.   To print from an internet browser, move to the far right of the screen to open the “charms” menu, and open devices
1.1.2.   Networked printers will be displayed as an option to print to.
1.2. From the desktop, open an application and choose file > print.
2 Download HP Printer Control and HP Scan and Capture from the Windows 8 store.
3.1. View Ink Levels and other printer information from the HP Printer Control
3.3. Scan from HP Scan and Capture
To have fuller features of your printer, install the full featured hp.com drivers.
This is need to get:
                        boarderless photo printing
                        scan to pdf
                        toolbox functions like printer maintenance
From HP Printer Control, select “Get Full Featured Software”.
Please Note: The Full solution Software does not install on Windows RT as it was not designed for the Platform

HP photosmart 109a printer - Not printing black ink

Hi. I am having problems with my HP photosmart 109a printer. It is printing in the other 3 colours but is not printing from the black cartridge. I have tried replacing the black cartridge twice now with 2 brand new cartridges. I have also tried cleaning the ink head. Any idea what else might be wrong or what I might need to do?

Problems installing two printers on Windows 7 64 bit

I have a brand new desktop with windows 7 64 bit installed. I have successfully installed a Photosmart C4585 All in One on it wirelessly, but when i try to install my Photosmart D5160 via usb using software from HP Website the C4585 is disabled and computer crashes on startup.
After uninstalling the D5160 the wireless printer works fine.
How can i install the Photosmart D5160 without crashing computer on start up and not interfering with the C4585 printer please.

Printhead problem

I have a photosmart b109a. i haven't used it for about a month but the ink was needing replaced. i switched on, all fine. i changed the ink then i got a message on the printer saying to remove ink, then printhead, then replace. i did nothing happened the computer says the printhead is either damaged or missing. how can it be damaged? i haven't touched it. i have already changed the black awhile back and all was fine.
please help.

It may be a false error message, or it may just be that when you replaced the ink that the printhead got jostled.
Try unpluging the printer and powering back on with the cartridges and printhead out. If that doesn't resolve the issue try this document

Photosmart printer not printing out new ink colours

Hey guys, I own a HP Photosmart b109a and have for a couple of years with no issues.
About 4 days ago we brought some new ink cartridges for the printer as it had run out of colour ink and we were wanting to print out photos since we had heaps of photo paper and had thought it would work out cheaper than going to a store and paying for heaps of prints.
It was the correct ink used but on the first print everything came in shades of blue, no other colour had printed, so after removing the printhead I noticed it had been covered in blue ink as if it had leaked, so I cleaned it as shown online, but then only the black ink would print. I tried printing things with colour only and it would print but come out blank?
No issue with the ink would pop up and cartridges were shown to be full.
After much messing around I finally found how to do a cleaning cycle but only ran one as I didn't want to waste ink and didn't know if it would work.
Eventually the blue and yellow ink started to print and my photos came up as green in colour, but still no Magenta.
After moving from house to house I no longer have the disc to this printer so can't run the HP solution centre as it refuses to find the printer which my Windows 7 has found. I can't even remember how I found the cleaning cycle to try and do it again.
I've tried running many washes and printing heaps of coloured pages but the most I got was magenta appearing as a faded yellow.
So last night I tried to soak the head in hot water overnight as someone insisted it was clogged, which it also looked to be. This morning it was again a lot cleaner but now no colour will print! Only black ink!!
Any help with what can be done!? Getting these photos printed is super important as it's due to a loss of a family member and after paying for new ink that can't be returned, we can't afford to print at a store

No one has a solution? Might just add, an old Calidad cartridge that requires you to carefully remove the chip of an old cartridge then add it to theirs, works perfectly in my printer right now....? the other inks don't want to work though....?

Hello I recently bought a b109a used printer,I have it up and running,but I am having problems printing in portrature,not landscape.I have the portraiture box ticked,but no luck.I am unable to download Adobe reader,to get the instruction manual,as it goes into a loop with dozens on tags opening .Please any ideas .Len

I am not at all sure I can help with the download of Adobe Reader, although I might suggest you just try a different browser; you might wish to UNCHECK the extra bits on the download page (offers from McAfee) -- the extra "stuff" might be adding to the confusion during the download.
I took a quick look at the contents of the manual and didn't see anything definitive that would help -- I might have missed something.

Photosmart B110a driver installation problems

I have a recent problem which began with being unable to print from my netbook. On devices and printers I have an exclamation mark next to my netbook. On running troubleshooter it tells me I have missing drivers but when I try to download them from the internet they fail.
My deskjet computer is now also showing the same problem though it is still printing.
I did find a link to a website on the forum which seemed to sort out my netbook temporarily but I cannot find it now.
I am using Windows 7 64 bit on my desktop and Windows 32 bit on my netbook.
I'd very much appreciate any help.
