B2B Adapters

What are all the Adapters that will come with B2B (ARIBA) Adapter?
Whether they are also similar like the XI adapter kit(HTTP, JDBC, FILE, SOAP, RFC etc. etc).
Thanks.

Thanks.
I understand the Role of an Adapter. File adapter will take the File contents and converts to an XML format (Vice Versa), an Idoc adapter will take the SAP-IDOC and converts to an XML (Vice versa) and so on
Keeping the above point as the thumb rule
Whats the role an B2B Adapter plays? Whether a B2B adapter contains  File Adapter or IDOC adapter or Soap Adapter or an RFC adapter OR it contains everything....
I am still not on the same page as you are!!!
Thanks.

  • B2B Adapter(s)

We are dealing with more than 2500 suppliers, using a 3rd party supplier Network.(Not thru XI Now)
Now we are planning to use XI to talk to our Supplier Network. could some one guid me what should be the B2B adapters that are in the market?
Whether it is Possible to talk to the 2500 suppliers directly from XI? instead of routing to the Supplier Network>
    Thanks

Dealing with B2B depends on your requirement.
In case of a high tech industry normally the prescribed standard is to use the RNIF adapter likewise we have the CDIX adapter etc.
talking SeaBurger its famous for the EDI scenarios. we also have various other third part adapters from iWay also.

  • Need guidence on B2B scenario

    Hi Experts,
need your help on the following questions:
    1. when the partner system is installed on its local network how can the pi get connected to it?  and how can i do a connection
        test?
2.is there any document about a practical b2b scenario? i need a step by step guide .
any helpful replies will be rewarded.
    dario

    Dario,
As your PI and your partner system is separated by firewall, then you need to ask the IT Security team to open ports for any communication between you and them. Even if your PI system and your partner system is kept in DMZ, unless you open communication ports, you will not be able to transfer data. Your physical IP s are not exposed to anywhere as you will be providing the natted IP to your partner and same will they do.
Rajesh has suggested to use encryption for communication and that has to be carried out in any case as you are not supposed to expose your systems directly to the outside world and the mode of communication is over the internet.
Common B2B adapters we have heard about are CIDX, RosettaNet,etc, although I have not used them ever. I am not sure about the JDBC communication over internet will be possible or not, if possible then the connection parameters you have provided should work, but the consideration is that you have the connectivity established. In this case your default communication port should be the db port.
As you said, you are planning to use VPN connectivity, in that case, I believe , if your client's LAN is accessible to you, then you need not open communication ports, even. But the Database must be accessible through this VPN Client IP. You must have VPN access to Client's Database server from your PI and they must be connected. If you straightaway use VPN IP as the DB IP, then I do not think it will come useful to you.

Do we have any info on the B2B adapter release by SAP? I know the latest info was early Q2 but is there a definite date and licensing model revealed? Any info is appreciated as we are debating should we wait for the B2B adapter or buy a third party.

  • Parties and Services in Configuration Scenarios

    Hi,
I think I understand the distinctions between parties, business-systems, and -services.
If I define an integration scenario in the repository and check the checkbox b2b-communication, I have to use parties in the directory integration scneario configurator.
Do I then also have to provide a partner for my own company and assign my business-systems and services under this node? I otherwise get problems when I assign the services to the application systems in the configurator and my receiver determinations get wrong.
Any thoughts and information about this topic is welcome.
    Thanks,
    Hans

    Hi Hans,
it is not necessary to define your 'own' party if you only have 'intra-enterprise message exchange'. The big deal about parties is the possibility to define 'additional' IDs like DUNS-numbers to the Party - this is necessary whenever an Adapter is used that requires specific IDs (these are typically B2B Adapters only). The Receiver-Adapter (for messages coming into the Integration Server) will map from an additional ID to the XI-Party name and the Sender Adapter (for messages sent out of the IS) will map from the XI-Party name to the additional ID as defined within the Sender channel.
In other words: parties are needed, whenever one Communication Partner's message format expects meaningful values according to a specific schema - not only in the payload but also in the message header (liek RNIF).
Please be also aware, that the Scenario Configurator tries to capture typical use cases - it can not handle everything so it is possible that one has to change objects afterwards.
    regards, frank

  • How to PI and UN/EDIFACT scenarios?

    Hi folks,
I’ll start soon a new PI project with EDI scenarios. It will be my first XI-EDI project and I don’t have any experience with this kind of scenarios. I already read some documentation, as well as some info at SDN, but I still have some inconsistencies:
How to start? Which is the sequence of steps to configure such scenarios?
    Do I need Conversion Agent?
Can I use any adapter of AE or I am limited to B2B adapters?
We are going to work with UN/EDIFACT protocol for a network gas - http://www.edigas.org/ if anyone has experience or did some similar scenarios that could guide me I would appreciate very much.
    Thanks in advance and regards,
    Ricardo.

  • AS2 Adapter for PI 7.3

    Hi All,
I'm trying to download and install the AS2 + EDI Seeburger adapter for Pi 7.31
I can only see the Gener Adap. 1.8 by Seeb NW701 (SP03) package in SMP that dates back to 2011. I'm not convinced this is the right package. I've download it but I cannot see the AS2 adapter on it. The documentation seem to be quite old too.
The question is simple, Is this the right software of I'm missing something?.... If I'm not missing any software is AS2 part of the EDI adapter?...
    Regards, JP

Hi Juan - As a side note - SAP is delivering it's own AS2 adapter as part of B2B add-on.. of course it does require separate licencing.. You can check the release notes @

  • Configuring iWay Siebel  Sender/Receiver adapter in SAP XI.

    Hi,
I am evaluating iWay Siebel Adapter for connection between Siebel system and SAP system. I am using both the sender and receiver iWay adapter for both inbound and outbound scenario.
In both the case the transport protocol used is HTTP. I searched a lot but could not find a document which explains the different parameter in the Communication channel for both sender and receiver adapter.
Please let me know if you have some document regarding the same. Also in my present scenario I don't have access to Siebel system so I am using a HTTP client to simulate a Siebel system.
I want to know what should I use in the Listener port in the Sender CC and how to send message using this port from a Local HTTP Client.

  • What is the use of Adapter objects in I.R

what is the use of Adapter objects in I.R

congratulations you successfully opened 1000 new threads...
adapters are components of the adapter engine, their main action is to connect different sysems with each other. therefore are different adapters:
SAP-2-SAP Adapters: like IDoc and RFC
    SAP-2-NOT-SAP-ADapters: like JMS, JDBC, HTTP..
    and B2B Adapters...
there are some rules in any board that you should accept:

  • Digital signed File Upload to XI (PI)

Hello we need to provide high End-to-End Data Intregity.
We upload files to XI via FileAdapter, put them to the KM and provide them for download.
Can the XI (PI) sign these Files? Can we use the XI (PI) as CA (Certification Authority)?
What are the Best Practise for us?
It ist very important to ensure the Data Integrity.
    Please help.
Edited by: Norman Trapp on Aug 7, 2008 1:41 PM

I am not aware of a optin where file adapters can be used to Sign Files. Digital Signatures are normally used for Non Repudiation purposes and File adapter cannot be used for this.
With File adapters you can ensure Secure Data and Connection layer by using FTPS - FTP over SSL but you definitely will not be able to sign the file's content.
Are you using the file adapter for sure? What is the adapter you are using to integrae with KM?
If you are using SOAP, HTTP adapter or any of the b2b adapters then this is possible, but not with the file adapter of XI.
Can you explain further if possible if the answer is off track?

    Bhavesh

  • Query on EDIFACT

    Hi Everyone,
We have around 100 interfaces with EDIFACT messages using seeburger and using PI7.1.Now we are planning to migrate to PI7.31.
Could any one please provide some inputs on the below queries:
    1) Do we have to install seeburger  adapter seperately for PI 7.31?
    2) How we can convert EDI messages to EDI XMl messages without seeburger adapters ?
    3) In PI7.31,do we get the adapters by default ?

    Hi Sahiti,
    1) Do we have to install seeburger  adapter seperately for PI 7.31?
Ans:-  For your current PI version you must be using seeburger 1.8.3 or 1.8.4 adapter . For PI 7.3.1 you need to upgrade your seeburger adapter with 1.8.5
    2) How we can convert EDI messages to EDI XMl messages without seeburger adapters ?
Ans:- there are many ways, if your client wanted to remove third party adapters then this is the best time to remove seeburger and use SAP B2B addon. SAP Announced B2B adapters for SAP PI owned by SAP- (Available from 30-mar-2012).SAP Partnership with Seeburger still in place.
    3) In PI7.31,do we get the adapters by default ?
Ans:- No,  for using SAP B2B add-on you require an additional license
    Cheers
