B570 - Disable Touch Pad

The laptop had to be rebuilt due to issues, and since then I've been unable to disable the touch pad, which is resulting in the mouse jumping all over the screen while typing.  An external mouse is used, but need the Touch Pad disabled.  The rebuild does not allow this to be disabled using the F6 key.  Unable to use the manual settings instructions either.  How else can this be disabled?  Thanks.

  • Disable Touch Pad, WIN7, 15t or 17t

    After reading several posts:
I don't see "touch pad settings" under mouse in control panel.
    I want to either:
    1. disable the touch pad so that it stays disabled, even on restart, or
    2. employ the "touch pad disabled" when mouse installed option.
    Many thanks.

  • Disable touch pad HP ENVY 15t-j000

How to quickly disable touchpad on HP ENVY 15t-j000?
I just got one of the newest Haswell notebook.  With older HP laptop touch pads there is a spot at the upper left corner to disable the touchpad.  With the latest Synaptic touchpad on the new ENVY 15t there is no keyboard or touchpad button to disable the touchpad when you are using a mouse.
    Please advice.

    Hi
The touchpads on some new notebooks do not have an on/off button go to control panel The touchpad itself does not have a dot or hardware switch toturn on/off. However, you can turn this function on and off from the control panel.
Let us know how it goes!

  • Static disabling Touch Pad & Keyboard

I have an Early 2008 15" MacBook Pro, and I live in a dry climate, and so static discharge is a problem. If it discharges on the track pad it disables the track pad and keyboard.
That does not allow me to save what I was working on, because the only way to restore them is to force quit by the power button.
I have two questions. Is there a way to restore the track pad and keyboard without a restart?
Can someone suggest a device to discharge the static. There is nothing within arms reach to dischaget the static. So far I have been lucky that no permenant damage has happened.

I've used a 3M static discharge pad for over 10 years now, both on my desktop and my wife's. They are not INexpensive, unless you deduct the costs of the damage that does NOT happen or the discomfort that does NOT happen. As I said, these things have been doing their job for a considerable time and show no signs of failure. On a desktop, just put it under your keyboard close enough to the edge of the front so that you automatically touch it before anything on the computer. Basically the same thing with your laptop. These things are easily cut with a strong pair of scissors to just about any shape or size. Just don't cut off and discord (no pun intended) the part that has a wire that you connect to a grounded outlet, usually the screw holding the cover is also grounded on properly installed outlets. It would be wise, of course, to be sure, and correct that first! I bought mine at a local electronics store but they are also available on-line. Just search for "static discharge pad"

  • Disable my touch pad please!

I have tried suggestions from various places. They all seem to work for OTHER people, but not mine. I have a Pavilion 17 notebook with Windows 8.1.

    Hi,
First, I would like to know if the Windows 8.1 is preinstalled on your computer or you have perform a clean installation with other version of Windows.
This issue is mostly related to driver.
Please find the latest touchpad driver and mouse driver and install them, if there is no version for Windows 8.1, please install the latest one in Compatibility mode for testing.
Then refer to steps here tor disable touchpad:

  • Touch Pad error

I just got an HP G62-347CL notebook and every once in awhile a picture with a finger comes up with a line through it and the light on the touch pad turns yellow and it stops working, I have been plugging in a mouse and that works but I mainly like to use the touch pad when using the computer. Any ideas?

that is the touch pad lock. if you double tap where the little amber light is in the upper left hand corner it will turn the touch pad back on.... if you don't want the pad to be be able to turn off go into the synaptics pointer setting and turn off the disable touch pad feature.

  • HP G72 Touch pad disable

    Hi,
    I have a G72 laptop.
When I first got it, the Synaptics Touch pad would automatically disable when I plugged in my USB mouse.
    What a great idea!
I have just had to format and reinstall WIndows 7 home, from the supplied Recovery Partition.
This was a nice, pain free procedure, except that my Touch Pad doesn't disable any more.
I have looked most places I can think of and can't find any reference to it.
Anyone know the  the Magic Incantation??
    Many thanks

    Hello again John822179,
It may have been a feature that was not included in the driver you are currently running. You can remove that driver and reinstall the original driver that came with your computer by following the instructions I am providing below:
    Step 1. Click Start
    Step 2. Click Control Panel
Step 3. Click on Device Manager
Step 4. Click on Mice and other pointing devices
Step 5. Right-click on your mouse driver and select Uninstall
Step 6. Download and review the HP Support document: Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 7). Use it to reinstall your Trackpad drivers that originally came with your computer.
This should give you the functionality you are looking for back. Again thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!
Please click the "Thumbs Up" on the bottom right of this post to say thank you if you appreciate the support I provide!

  • I CAN NOT DISABLE MY TOUCH PAD

I CAN NOT DISABLE MY TOUCH PAD. CURSOR JUMPING EVERYWHERE. I USE A MOUSE. I have gone into settings, and chosen the "long' response time, and other things. i have tried the FN +F3 key, which is supposed to disable it. That dosen't work either. i have the 2013 msi us g100. The slim laptop.

Which model do you have? Do you mean "S"100 or "U"100?
S100 doesn't have the Fn+F3 for disabling the touchpad, but you can try to press the reset hole to reboot the system.
For U100, try to do the EC reset by removing the AC adapter and remove the battery, then put them back and reboot the system.

Double-tap the touch zone at the top left side of the touchpad to disable it - once disabled the light will turn amber.

  • How to disable the touch pad on the HP 6730b laptop? None of the prev sugg have worked

An associate of mine is working on an HP 6730b and her wrist or sleeve keeps brushing against the touch pad, making the pointer jump around. Since she doesn't use it anyway, she wants to disable it, but none of the suggestions I've found have worked. There is no on/off button near it on this model; nor a Device Settings tab in the touch pad's Properties, so she can't go the simple route. Thanks so much to anyone who can provide any assistance -  Lorian

  • Touch pad keeps disabled when windows starts on Equium

The touch pad on my laptop keeps disabled every time I start up my computer, I noticed that an icon appears in my task bar which is the same picture on my F9 key of the circular cross over the touch pad, however once I press Fn+F9 keys the touch pad works fine until I start up the laptop again

If you have some problems with the notebook shuts down procedure so possibly it happens because some programs and applications are running in the background of the OS and cannot be disabled.
Mostly reinstallation of such application could solve such issues.
Im not 100% sure if it will help to solve the touchpad issue but try to reinstall the touchpad driver and the utility. Check the Toshiba page for updates.
Furthermore you could check the settings of the touchpad in the control panel in the mouse option
