  • BEST BUY DELIVERIES ON MONDAY AND WEDNESDAYS ONLY

I again talked to someone at the my local Best Buy store about the status of my Phone 5.  I was told again that they have not received any Sprint or Verizon Phones.  The next time I should check is this coming up Monday Sept 24 or Wednesday Sept 26th; these are their next delivery dates. The only reason I went through Best Buy is because of their Phone Freedom program they advertised in January and February of this year.   I am so disappointed with this whole experience.  This is my fist and last time pre-ordering.   I will not ever go through this experience again with Best Buy.  I will order directly from my carrier.

You are incorrect sir. Stores can receive trucks on any day except sunday. My store receives trucks on different days @ different time. You guys really gotta be patient.

  • Will Best Buy (125) Have any iPhone 4s in stock Monday or Tuesday?

I need to know so I know whether I'll be waiting outside of At&T that morning or driving to Best Buy. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Remember it is Apple's call how many they ship. Apple priority #1 is Apple stores. Priority #2 is AT&T. Everyone else gets left with what is available. You can't fault BB for this. They get what Apple gives them and that is the end of it. It looks bad due to the manufacturing bottleneck but hey, it happened.
I am also of the mind that if Apple can send tracking information on an individual pre order basis, why they can't do the same with retail shipments is beyond me but again I don't work there and have no idea about the logistics. I do think that BB policy on not giving out information even when they have it is kind of a slap in the face to customers but again I don't know their policies and why they are in place to begin with.
I can't imagine that Apple does not know exactly where each iPhone that hasn't been sold to a customer is along their supply/distribution chain.  When I ordered my car a couple of years ago I was able to track its production progress at the factory and then look up where the cargo ship it was coming in on was located as it crossed the Atlantic.  It's hard to believe that Apple does not have this information and is not sharing it with Best Buy or other third-party retailers.

  • Best Buy Customer Service

I ordinarily accept that companies will have less than adequate customer service, but my experience with Best Buy has been so bad, I actually decided to take the time to create a profile an write about it.
I ordered a front load washer as a christmas gift for my sister.  I was forced to cancel the delivery as it was a surprise, because my niece and nephews school was cancelled and therefore my sister would be home ruining the suprise.
I rescheduled the delivery, and took off work so that I could be present to accept.  When I did not receive a call giving me a time window as I had the 1st time it was supposed to be delivered, I called customer service for help.  Customer service was anything but, and told me that it was set to rechedule in the system, and that they spoke with the warehouse and it was because they had not received delivery of the washer yet, so they could not deliver.  I informed her that this was not possible as they previously had scheduled my washer for a delivery and it was me who cancelled after I had recieved the smaller delivery window.  She advised that she "spoke to the warehouse and they don't have it, I don't know what to tell you."  I insisted that she call them again, as they must be mistaken because it doesn't make sense that they would have the washer over a week ago and be able to give me a delivery window, and they now don't have it. She said "no, they deffinately don't have it, i just talked to her."  I insisted that she call them again, and asked her if it was not possible that they made a mistake.  She eventually relented and claimed to call the warehouse.  She then said that they were closed, so she could could not give me any more information, and that I should call back tomorrow (the day it was supposed to be delivered).  Eventually she admitted that she could see the same thing in the computer that the warehouse people could see, and there was no information about my washer. Basically she lied and said it was not delivered instead of provide me with the truth that they really didn't know what was up.
I called again the next day, waited on hold forever again, and eventually spoke to someone.  This person said that they had the washer, but there was no way that they would be able to deliver that day, that the girl had made a mistake and didn't get it entered in for delivery correctly.  This was frustrating because I took off work, and I am a contractor so I don't get paid if I don't work.  They were able to get it scheduled for the next day, and told me they would be calling with a specific time instead of a window so I could meet them on my lunch break.
I only got an automated call, which said they would be there between 1 and 3 pm.  A while after the call, I recieved an automated text message which said they would be there from 12 to 2.  The next morning I called to find out if I would get my specific time, or at least what window was correct.  I was on hold for nearly half an hour, and then on the phone for another hour after I spoke with someone, just to get the correct time, and for them to tell me I would not get my specific time.  They said that the 12-2 window was correct. I was getting ready to leave work, and the delivery guys called and said they were going to be there 30 mins early.  I of course couldn't make it early, but they accommodated me.
The delivery guys were very friendly and courteous.  They called me onto the truck to show me that my washer had been damaged by a forklift in the warehouse. the cardboard was damaged, the inner packing styrofoam smashed, and there was a dent on the washer.  They asked me if I wanted for them to still deliver, and told me I should call customer service and let them know it was dented.  I advised to deliver, mainly because I was scared I would not be able to get another one before christmas, and it was a washing machine so a dent would not be the end of the world, even though it was a gift.  Nonetheless I was paying over 600 dollars for a new washer, and you expect no dents.
I called customer service and Holly said that they could come and remove it, or they could offer me a 10% discount if I wanted to keep it. I agreed to the 10% discount.  I was then told that she could not process the discount because the computer still said "in transit" and that I would need to call back the next day and give them a service number she gave me, and then they could give me my discount.  I attempted calling the next couple days and the got a message that they were experiencing high call volume to call back at a different time, and on Monday I was on hold for 30 mins and never able to talk to a person.
Tonight the computer system offered to call me back, so I did that, and eventially spoke with customer service when they called back.  I was put on hold many times and eventially spoke with a customer service person in the appliance department.  I am pretty sure this was the same customer service person that lied to me on thursday, based on her voice.  She told me that they could see that I was told that I would receive the 10% discount, but that the individual did not put who authorized the discount into the notes, and the warehouse was closed and they were the only ones that would be able to authorize the discount, that I needed to call back the next day.  This was after being on the phone for one hour and 20 mins.  I asked why I needed to call back, why could they not just process my discount, and she said that was the only way I was getting my discount.  I asked why they could not call me, and she said "we do not call people."
Eventially I realized I was getting nowhere.  This is simply the worst customer service I have ever experienced.  I will have to call again tomorrow, wait on hold again, probably just to get the runaround. I do not know how they manage to stay in business.  Very disappointed.

    Hello neveragain30,
Thank you for sharing your feedback here on the forum. I'm sorry for the delay in replying to your post. I was honestly speechless for a moment after I read about your delivery experience. It is very generous of you to have purchased a washer for Christmas for your sister, and I am so very sorry if we offered you such a poor delivery experience. I assure you this is not the level of service we expect our delivery team to offer our customers.
Using the e-mail you registered on the forum, I was able to locate the order, and confirmed that they applied the discount as promised. I do appreciate you taking the time to bring this to our attention here at the corporate office. I assure you I will be documenting your comments for further employee training as we clearly have an opportunity here for improvement. I also have some information I would like to share with you so I will be sending you a private message. To view your messages, please make sure you are logged into the forum, and click on the envelope in the top right hand corner.
Again, I truly apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and keep an eye out for that message coming your way.

  • Best Buy hijacked my bank account and disposed my Best Buy points

I placed an online order on 09/05/2014 (Order number: (removed per forum guidelines) around 4pm eastern, and about 3 hours later, I got another email stating "YOUR ITEM HAS BEEN CANCELED". It was for an in-store open box item, which I was able to pay for online and pick-up at the store, or so I thought. I used two $5.00 reward certificates, a gift card, and my credit card to finalize the transaction. The email titled, "YOUR ITEM HAS BEEN CANCELED" contained this information:
Be assured that if you paid by credit card, it has not been charged, and any other method of payment has been credited. If you used a Gift Card for this order and no longer have it, please call the number below and we'll send you a replacement.
If you have any questions about your order or need further assistance — or if you'd like help finding a similar item — please contact us at
    1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289).
Once again, we're sorry for this inconvenience, and are working hard to serve you better in the future.
    Sincerely,
    Karalyn Sartor
    Vice President Customer Care
Well, lets just start wih Karalyn did not answer my call or attempted to help.
My gift card was immeditely re-credited, however it has been a different story for the other method of payment. My certificates which were accumulated through purchases totaling over $500 dollars, never regenerated (i've called 3 separate times about when are they going back to my points bank and responses range from 24hr to 45days) it's now Wednesday this happen last Friday. The cancelation email stated my credit card would not be charged, but Best Buy did something worse they placed a hold on my card for this order that wasn't fulfilled and actually canceled by Best Buy employees at the store(553) due to not in stock (as stated in cancelation email).
The transaction was completed online because it indicated stock was available and the, "Thank you for your order" email implied that ownership was mine. I don't understand why Best Buy placed a hold on my card, if the transaction was manually checked and canceled? What makes it worse there was no attempt to contact me to substitute canceled order or give me a definitive reason why it was canceled. In fact, my reward certificates that I accumulated over some time were gone due to this cancelled order and no definitive answer has been given to when they will show back on my account. I was told Friday the hold would release in 3-5 days and it "should" drop, but it now Wednesday. I would understand if this was a return transaction and I have to wait for my funds to be available again, but I had no possession of item and it the transaction didn't go through why is Best BUy holding my money hostage? I'm not in the business of lending out money, and I needed those funds to actually acquire what I attempted to in my order. I shouldn't have to wait on my money, I feel like I'm being bullied and down right punished.
So, now it gets worse for me because. I called I-800 for Elite Plus reward members ( been a member since it was Premier Silver) to make sure stock was available on a similar item (at full price), and asked about the points, I lost and how I would be able to apply them to my purchase. The rep adjusted the price to accommodate my transaction and said that the points would be still go back on my account in 24 hrs. This new order was finalized on the same day as original order Friday 09/05/2014.
Well, I checked my bank account Monday , and was surprised to see the original cancelled order was still there, as well as two identical transaction that I'm assuming represented my new order. I was patient and waited till Tuesday to check again, and hoped that all mistaken holds would drop, but I was wrong. Instead, now a hold actually posted as a completely different amount (lower) with the new order number associated to it, and the other amount(what I expected) is also there plus the original transaction amount. Who gave Best By create a third order without my consent? Why did Best Buy assume I had money to lend their cooperation? Why did Best Buy assume that my funds were at their disposal and authorized their own transaction? How dos Best Buy not consider unapproved transactions could overdraft my account? I called and asked, but no answer could be given to why that happen except that the rep charged me twice, and thats why theres two holds, but then that doesn't explain why one of those holds post at a cheaper price with my new order number on it. This is crazy, there is no reason why a third order should have been created because I didn't approve it. This has been too many days without my money, and these holds total a little pass $300.00 dollars (not chump change).
Yesterday (09/09/14) I contacted my bank to find a solution to these unwarranted charges, and the only way to expedite and release my funds would be in a from of a letter from best buy on their letter head to be faxed to 18663097443 with the transaction amounts, card number, my name, date of transaction, signed by a manager, and a statement informing the bank that Best Buy would not collect on those charges. The other solution was to dispute the charge that posted because that amount was not contracted to be fulfilled under the agreement of the order form.
So, I called Best Buy again. Well, after over an hour on the phone and the rep spoke to her superiors which declined the request, so I asked for the case number, but the rep told me that after during the conversation her computer crashed and no number could be given. So, I asked for some type of compensation for this crazy ordeal and for the financial position it put me in by creating a new order and holding funds from a canceled order. Well, she said my situation didn't correspond to reasons that warranted compensation, not even a coupon. I thought what happen to customer service as being a reason? The Best Buy rep did seem to empathize with my situation, and asked again for that authorization letter, and she said she got it approved; this was around 5pm yesterday. She then even said she was able to generate a case number with this approval (case number 144087240).
Guess what Best Buy community its now Wednesday, and the holds are all there no communication was sent to the resolution department on the behalf of Best buy and I'm still out $300. plus dollars since Friday. Normally banks charge interest on loans, what will Best Buy do for me now that I have stolen my money? I never gave consent to create a third order, which now I will have to dispute and report to the Better Business Bureau. The most unbelieveble part of this mess is that the item in my original order that satrted all this is still up on the Best Buy page. An employee supoosley checked and made the determination that the item is out of stock, but its still on the webpage to trap another customer in lending Best Buy capital to fund their organization. I would clike to challenage any employee to attempt to but this item and see what happens to their funds. I mean, come on Best Buy if you don't pay the employee to trap people, then have them remove the item off the website where people are becoming victims to this money pit. Here is the link go for it and see what happens to you Karalyn Sartor, Vice President Customer Care.

I shop at Best Buy so much I held the silver Premier status since it was introduced, and every year the amount of how much you spend gets raised as benefits get removed, I've been able to surpass that threshold to maintain Elite Plus status since it too has been created topping almost $5000.00 this year alone, and we haven't hit Christmas yet. This experience is something to consider next time I think about going to Best Buy.

    Good afternoon robertocar78,
After reading through your detailed post, I can fully understand why you would be frustrated with this experience. First off, stores should ensure that their clearance and open-box items listed on BestBuy.com are up-to-date to prevent such experiences as yours. Secondly, to have such an amount of funds unavailable would be quite worrisome, and I hope that I can bring some light to your particular situation.
Using the email address you registered with the forum, I was able to locate your cancelled order as well as the replaced order. Typically when an order is placed, the funds are immediately authorized to ensure the funds are available. While this authorization may make the funds unavailable, the funds have not actually been collected.
Once an order ships, the funds will be collected at that time. Should there be more than one item on an order, if the items ship separately or at different times, you may be charged for the individual items. That being said, you could see multiple smaller charges for one order that together make up the order total. If an order is cancelled, the authorization should be dropped on our end. However, this may take 3-5 business days to reflect on your end, depending on your financial institution’s processing times.
I was able to see that you have been working extensively with Todd on our Consumer Relations team in regards to your situation. I spoke with him personally about your particular situation and let him know that you have also posted here in regards to your concerns. I’m happy to hear that he has been able to assist you in resolving most of your issues thus far.
Also, please know that I am reaching out to the Tropicaire store in Miami, FL store in regards to this iPad listing to ensure they have a chance to correct any inventory or listing issues they may have. I am truly sorry for any inconvenience this experience may have caused you. I hope that this experience has not influenced your future shopping destinations.
If you should have any further concerns or questions, please feel welcome to reach out to me here on the thread or by sending me a private message via the link in my signature below.
    Cheers!

  • Don't use Best Buy Delivery if you are thinking about it...Just lies, lies, and more lies..

Wow, where should I even started?
We brought a 55 in TV from the local store last Sunday, and schedule a delivery yesterday (6/6/2015).
They called us the night before delivery date, to confirm the delivery on Saturday from 1:30- 3:30pm.
We waited until 3pm, and finally received a call saying "they were delayed a little bit", and moved the time to 5:30-6:30pm. Ok, not good, but we can understand.
But of course, they didn't show up on time. We decided to call them again at 6:22pm, and were told they were 45 minutes away...
7:30pm, after a hour, we called them AGAIN, and was told they are 25 mins away.
We had another delivery scheduled from Lowes at 8pm. Lowes showed up on time, and installed our fridge and washer/dryer professionally. They left around 8:30pm.
WHERE IS OUR TV FROM BEST BUY THEN???? Don't they supposed to show up before the Lowes???
We called them again and again, but nobody answered...well, I guess it is a Saturday, and they went home WITHOUT even bother to tell us.
Last time we spoke, you told me you are 25 mins away. Is this a lie? or you just decide to go back to your sweet home after we talk on the phone?!
Sunday (6/7), I called the warehouse again in the morning, but no one answers, the voicemail is full as well (So I think we are NOT the only one experienced this ridicuous issue). Then we called the 1-888 number, and explained what happened. The customer rep on the phone couldn't get hold of the local warehouse neither, and told us to call back within several hours. (They did give us a case number: {removed per forum guidelines} though) We called back before noon, and was told they are not open on Sunday, and they don't know when will be get our TV delivered, maybe Monday morning.
Ok, here is the thing, we have to work Mon- Fri, that's why we requested to deliver on Saturday. And come on, Best Buy, it is just a TV, it is not huge appliances that take you that much time.
I can see why there was delay, ( not saying we were happy about it though...) But you could at least called us to let us know before you went home on our scheduled delivery date!!!! And were all those "45 mins away", "25 mins away" things lies????
    Dear Best Buy Coustomer Relations,
I am expecting a responce back from you in a few business days from today, 06/07/15. Your responce should be sartisfying us. If we don't hear anything back from you or your responce to us doesn't satisfy us, then we will go talk to someone higher in your organization. Thank you,

Hello MengyaLiu, and welcome to the forum,
I’m honestly not sure why our delivery team would have told you they were on their way to your home and then not arrive without an explanation as to why. Our delivery agents should be notifying you of all necessary changes in their delivery schedules, as we realize the inconvenience any possible delay may cause, so it’s regrettable to hear we failed you in this regard. I truly apologize for any frustration this oversight may have caused.
While I’ve personally documented your feedback here at the corporate office to ensure something of this nature doesn’t happen in the future, I’m glad to hear our delivery team was able to make this right and successfully delivered your TV yesterday. Please feel free to let us know how it went and if you have any further questions for me. I’ll be glad to help.
    Best wishes,

  • Misleading ADH Information Provided By Best Buy Associates

Let me start by saying that Best Buy WAS my most FAVORITE store UNTIL walking into store on 03/08/14 in Alabama. I am a 31 yr old customer that has been purchasing electronics from Best Buy since 2003. The management and sales associates in the store I normally go to is AWESOME! Now I would be one of the first to say that "Yes, it seems that Best Buy's T&Cs on GSBT/GSRP/ADH Plans change often." Whenever I go into any Best Buy, I look at the little pamphlets that was given out when you purchased any GS protection plan. I notice they looked different from time to time. Maybe a different color or size. I mean, go to <http://www.geeksquad.com/protection-plans/terms-and-conditions.aspx> and look. It goes back to July 2007. Has it always been available online? Nope. The first extended warranty/protection Plan I purchased was on a laptop purchased in 2003 when I left for college. I don't see it on there. So it's very safe to assume they haven't always been readily available and from looking at previous comments and posts after googling "Best Buy ADH 2012," I see I'm NOT the only customer that has been mislead by the sales associates on ADH. Why not trust that the employees are explaining important details? I mean SOMETIMES you're handing me a pamphlet with the T&Cs and giving me misleading info that you claim is in there. But at the time I had every reason to trust and believe the associates are providing me with important details and accurate info that is found in what you're placing in my hand (I've been to MANY Best Buy's and purchased MANY things from each Best Buy depending on where I'm at at that time).
In 2012 I bought two iPads (3rd generation). I bought one 16gb and a 32gb along with ADH for each one (one for my parents and one for myself). And like any electronic device I buy from Best Buy, I was ALWAYS told, "Don't forget to purchase the protection plan!" Well, if you look at my history, I ALWAYS purchased the "extended warranty" or "protection plan." Like I said, when I moved away for college in 2003, I purchased a brand new laptop, had GS to hook it up and also paid for the "extended warranty" as it was called at the time. I never had to use any warranties or protection plans I purchased. I purchased protection plans on the 2 laptops I bought, a washer and dryer I bought (that was stolen when I went on vacation) and also the new ones I purchased to replace the stolen set, a washer I bought AFTER I moved (because mine was in storage and I damaged my parents older washer by overloading it with a comforter) and even on cellphones I've had in the past. Basically, if Best Buy offered it on a device, I purchased it because I felt confident that if ANYTHING went wrong, Best Buy would take care of it. Why?? Because that's what I was told when I purchased it. Now, that being said, my parents are 66 and 70 and not in the best of health. Last year, my mom dropped the iPad and broke the screen. I was confident that Best Buy would replace it with a new device like I was told. I get to the closest Best Buy to me (which is an hour and fifteen away from home; the original store where I purchased them is two and a half hours away). The iPad still powered on but of course the glass screen was shattered. Who wants to use an iPad with cracked glass and risk cutting a finger? Well, low and behold, that store reprinted the receipt and replaced the iPad 3rd gen with a NEW iPad 4th gen (there were no more iPad 3rd gen at the store) just like the sales associates said. No questions asked. No hassle. No problem. I don't even work for Best Buy but yet ANYBODY I talked to (friend, family, stranger in the store), I would push "protection plan...get it!...it's worth it!"
March 7th, 2014, while working, I accidentally dropped my 32gb iPad and cracked my screen. I had already made plans to go out of town on March 8th so I did my research and saw there's a Best Buy an hour away. I was confident that Best Buy would replace my device in store so that Monday, March 10th I would be able to go back to work and have a working iPad that's not going to slice and dice my fingers up. I get to the GS desk and I gave the GS agent my phone number to reprint my receipt so he could go ahead and replace my iPad. (Why was I so confident? My parents iPad was replaced with no issues). Well the GS agent proceeds to tell me that "Your iPad qualifies to be replaced with a refurbished iPad. Would you like to pick it up in store or have it shipped to your home?" Excuse me? Refurbished? Picked up or sent to my home? No no no. Now, I told him, "When I purchased the iPad (that I paid $599 for BRAND NEW) and the 2 yr ADH, I was told by the sales associate if anything happened to it, any Best Buy would swap it out in store with a new device that way I wouldn't have to go without." He proceeds to tell me, "The plans have changed. It might have been that way when you purchased it but the plans have changed since 2012." (Thank goodness I didn't go in the store by myself. I had two friends with me that heard all of this non-sense). Now it's always that if the T&Cs change after you purchased yours, they have to honor the T&Cs that you had from the beginning. That's like a cellphone company telling me "You cannot keep your unlimited plan because we don't offer it anymore." You can't do that. So because the company changed the T&Cs AFTER I purchased it, you're not going honor what that??? So I asked for a manager. The GM of the store comes. The same thing I explained to the GS agent, I repeated once again to the GM. He says the same thing the GS agent said. By then, I'm in shock and not only is my blood pressure going up, I'm getting more and more upset thinking about each and every ADH/GSBT/GSRP I purchased (and didn't use EXCEPT for one). Then my mind went to everybody that bought an ADH and was mislead with the same T&Cs shared by the sales associates. The GM then goes on to tell me, "Your iPad is still functional. You can keep it until your refurbished iPad comes in." I'm looking at my iPad and I run my finger across it and I feel sharp pieces of glass. I asked him "What if I cut my finger?" He then opened his mouth and let the CRAZIEST thing come out. He said, "I can discount a Zagg Invisible Shield for you if you would like." I'm thinking "what kind of FOOL does he take me for????" Seriously???? (1) You COULD replace it but you won't (which he stated it's at HIS sole discretion if he wanted to replace it or not but because the computer said send a refurbished one, he doesn't want to go against that) and (2) You want me to BUY a invisible shield that you're going to discount??? That's WHY I purchased the ADH (so I wouldn't have to spend any money later on if something happens to it). So I told him to go ahead and send it but I'm not happy about and I would call and complain about it. I now have to go to work Monday and Tuesday without the iPad I DEPEND on to do my job. I refuse to pay for a screen protector when I know the iPad could be exchanged there in the store.
I NEVER thought I would live to say "I will NEVER EVER spend another dime in Best Buy or any affiliates they may have from today going forward unless the problem is resolved." I JUST spent over $1400 in Best Buy a couple of weeks ago on a PS4 (ADH as well), 3 PS4 games, an iPod Touch 32gb, a griffin case and a set of headphones. I will be canceling that ADH on the PS4 ASAP. It's not worth it. It's not worth the hassle. My friends that witnessed all of this have now been turned away from a business that I once loved. Is it because I told them to turn away? No. It's because they know that that is poor customer service and misleading info that was provided. They've even purchased ADH on devices they've purchased and was provided the SAME misleading information that I was provided (and I'm talking about three different stores providing each of us with the same exact information). I know that myself and the two other people that were with me today will not hurt Best Buy's business by not returning and buying electronics from there. But everyone knows that one unhappy customer will go back and tell a family member or friend what happened. And that family member or friend will go and tell another family member or friend that will tell another........it then turns into a chain reaction. Do I wish anything bad on Best Buy? Nope. What I do wish is that (1) my iPad is replaced with a NEW iPad 3rd gen or better (ain't no going back to a 2nd generation) and (2) Best Buy needs to retrain EVERY employee (manager, supervisor and regular associate) to make sure instead of saying "With ADH, if anything happens to it, bring it back to any Best Buy and we'll replace it in store!" the associates need to be truthful and say "With ADH, it is at our sole discretion to replace the device in store OR have a refurbished device sent to the store where you can pick it up when it comes in or either we can have it sent to your home!" But that's too much like being right. I now see it's all about getting a sale and getting numbers up. It's not about providing excellent customer service cause if it was, I would've walked out of that store with a new iPad. I am literally SICK just thinking of the thousands of dollars I've spent in Best Buy. Lesson learned though.

    Hello,
There is very little more frustrating than having a device that you use every day develop a need for service, whether through defect or damage. I've had similar situations arise myself and been aggravated too. It's also important to live up to the terms of our agreements with you and our other customers -- in this case the written Terms & Conditions of the Geek Squad Protection plan you purchased. Further, it is imperative that we communicate how the coverage works accurately. I regret any miscommunication that there may have been about how the terms of your plan would be fulfilled.
The Geek Squad Agent's choice of language was unfortunate. You're quite correct in that the terms of the plan do not change once it's been purchased. However, the process by which we fill those terms can be subject to change. We reserve the right -- as stated in the Terms -- to provide a refurbished unit to fulfill our obligation under the plan.
We cannot provide the refurbished unit to you without taking possession of the damaged unit. The Agent at the store should have been specific that if you kept the damaged iPad to use in the interim, the replacement could not be shipped to you, but rather to the store for this reason. Please know that I apologize for any inconvenience to you.
Finally, I'm wholly disheartened to read that this experience may prompt you to change your future shopping destination. It is my hope that you will give Best Buy another chance to win you over one day soon. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.
    Sincerely,

Mary (not knowing I was on the line) asked Khonisa why she had called her and who told her to call ext 200? Khonisa then, trying to help me, explained the issue to Mary........So I was eventually told by Mary that I need to direct this back to the Best Buy store in Garner, NC. Mary told me that "Sara" at Geeksquad Mobile was aware of all these problems.
11/21/14 7:00 PM (I think) Called Best Buy in Garner. Eddie answered and said that there was NO Sara. I explained my latest conversation with Mary. Eddie told me that Nichole (his manager) knows about this and she'll be in tomorrow at 11:00. Not believing anything at this point, I asked if I could talk to someone in "Mobile". Alex, Mobile Manager, got on the phone. Alex informed me that he DOES have a Sara, but she has NOTHING to do with this and tells me to call back tomorrow.

Bani tells me that he cannot see any service order in the system for this issue. He states that he "doesn't have backdoor access" and only the Service Center has back door access to see all the information needed. Bani then STATES "it looks like someone at the store (Best Buy in Garner, NC) CANCELED THE SERVICE ORDER. Bani tells me that someone from the Service Center will have to call me back and that the Service Center will have to make a NEW Service Order. He asked a couple of times if there was more than 1 phone on this Protection Plan......NO there is not! Bani tells me that I will get a call back in 24 to 48 hours.
    EMPTY PROMISES AGAIN

11/26/14 12:44 PM – Nichole, Geeksquad Manager at Best Buy in Garner, NC   Nichole said that the order needs to be “recreated”. This CANNOT be accomplished because they already have the phone which Nichole agreed. Nichole is to once again call someone in the corporate team……. Called ended at 12:57 PM

    Bill,
NO PHONE, NO SOLUTION AS OF TODAY 12/9/14
You can add this to the previous post.  All the information should flow time wise.  I'm pretty sure I'll not hear back from you, since everyone is too busy to take ownership of this problem.  This started WAY before Black Friday and continues WAY after Black Friday.  I responded to Derald......AT NO TIME HAS THIS ACCOUNT BEEN IN QUESTION.  An address change at the bank  was needed on the card.  Even IF this account had not been paid in December IT WOULD NOT AFFECT THE OCTOBER REPAIR!  How dare Best Buy use that tactic as yet another ploy!
11/26/14 – As of today after I posted to Facebook Brian {removed per forum guidelines}, Market Service Manager, is aware of this issue. Brian {removed per forum guidelines} is obviously someone with enough clout to resolve this issue (I believe he is a regional or district manager).

11/28/14 ?? PM - I called Nichole at Best Buy in Garner, NC. Nichole was too busy to come to the phone. I was told she would try to call me back tonight or tomorrow.
11/29/14 1:09 PM - Nichole returned my call from Friday and left a message. She apologized for not getting back in touch with me yesterday (Friday). Nichole said she has yet to hear anything back from the escalation team.
12/1/14 2:43 PM – Nichole is at lunch. I asked to speak to Michael {removed per forum guidelines}, GM for the Best Buy in Garner, NC. Michael is not in today. – I left a message for Nichole to return my call.

    Hello Jacqueline,
Thank you for contacting us.  I am sorry to hear about the issues with having the phone serviced.  I have a couple of questions for you before I proceed.  Under whose name is this phone and the Geek Squad Protection Plan and is their monthly payment plan up–to-date?
Please reply at your earliest convenience.  Thank you.

This phone is in the name of:  XXXXX
The phone number associated is:  919-XXX-XXXX (please refer to any of the Case ID numbers below)
There is NO MONTHLY payment for this plan.
****Derald asked that I “Please reply at your earliest convenience”. Wonder how inconvenient it is to resolve this issue for these folks!!
12/1/14 5:05 PM – Nichole called me back. Nichole has still NOT received any information to be able to resolve this issue. Nichole is THE ONLY PERSON at Best Buy or Geeksquad that has bothered to contact me or help me in any way. Her hands are obviously tied.
12/2/14 Michael {removed per forum guidelines} – I CALLED, yet again, to the Garner, NC Best Buy and asked for Nichole. After being on hold quite some time, Michael {removed per forum guidelines} come on the line and tells me that he has NO NEWS about this problem!! Nichole has obviously sent my call to him rather than answer me. Michael states that he WAS GOING TO CALL TODAY (this call was made late afternoon). Still no phone OR anyone with enough sense to be able to get through the system and figure this out.
12/2/14 4:45 PM – Nichole calls me and tells me that XXXX’s credit card needs to be updated in order to process this claim…….WHAT?????????? So, we run to the bank before they close (note the time) and get the credit card address information updated. We have recently moved and I have been telling whoever I talk to about that in case the REPLACEMENT phone had been sent to the wrong address. REMEMBER, the first empty box came to the NEW ADDRESS. Also, I gave the NEW ADDRESS to Michael {removed per forum guidelines} yesterday!!!
12/2/14 5:?? PM – I called Nichole to let her know that the credit card address had been updated today. She was looking for a way to email someone to let them know, because she had NO OTHER way to contact the escalation team, no phone number…..REALLY?

    Hello jlippard-
I absolutely apologize for the lateness of this response.  We are extremely backlogged from the holiday and Black Friday and trying to catch up.
It certainly sounds like you are experiencing an extremely frustrating situation and I am truly sorry to hear about the issues going on with your phone.  I saw that you had also reached out to us through our Facebook channel and my colleague Derald was able to respond to you.  I believe that he is waiting on some information from you to proceed, so if you have not yet replied to him, I would encourage you to do so.  Hopefully he can help you sort this all out and reach a resolution for you.
    Thanks for connecting with us.
    Sincerely,
    Bill
Seems they are too busy (really, since October) to handle this and one hand doesn’t know what the other hand is doing. I had already responded to Derald and have received NO RESPONSE BACK.
12/5/14 – Afternoon – STILL NO PHONE HAS ARRIVED AND NO ONE HAS CALLED! I called Nichole, Geeksquad Manager, Garner, NC Best Buy. Note that Nichole is the MANAGER! Nichole has received notification that they are TRYING TO SOLVE THE ISSUE! I’m very angry at this point! Up until this call, I have been very respectful AND extremely patient! I said to Nichole “what do I need to do at this point, call the media? WRAL 5 On Your Side? This is BEYOND belief! THE ABSOLUTE WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED! Nichole agreed that I have been respectful and patient and that SHE would also be very angry. Nichole said she would be angry as a Mother and as a customer.
12/8/14 - WELL BLESS MY SOUL! A package arrived today to the OLD ADDRESS! The box is EMPTY, NO PHONE! Nichole had previously told me that the “escalation team” was going to RE-CREATE” the service order. Nichole told me this WOULD NOT WORK BECAUSE THERE IS NO PHONE TO RETURN. They already have the phone! I call Nichole, Geeksquad Manager, Best Buy in Garner, NC. Nichole, with an big ‘ole attitude, tells me that because I said I needed to contact the media, she could no longer discuss this with me or help me. Nichole told me to call 1-888-Bestbuy.
12/8/14 4:04 PM – 888-BestBuy - Rebecca in sales department. Rebecca put me on hold for a bit trying to get a manager to help me. She was obviously concerned after pulling up this account and seeing just how bad the customer service has been. With Rebecca being in sales, I guess she gets it. Rebecca hands me off to Catherine. Catherine apologized for the way I’ve been treated and seems to be very concerned about this as well (some I’ve spoken with seem concerned, but NO ONE can ACT – the GM in Garner NEVER SEEMED CONCERNED). Catherine tells me that it would be a good idea to go to the UPS store and get them to track the phone sent on 11/5/14! Really…we have been told the phone was received! We have also been told the serial number did not match…….. Catherine tells me that it is NORMAL that the serial number doesn’t match if there has been prior repairs (which there has been). ANOTHER PROMISE TO CALL BACK IN 24 TO 48 HOURS. Another day……….. NO PHONE, NO RESOLUTION!
47 DAYS, 30 documented phone conversations (some not even documented), MANY EMPTY promises of a CALL BACK, Delayed or NO email responses and COUNTLESS hours (mine and theirs) NO RESOLUTION from anyone!!! Paying for a SmartPhone plan for going on 2 months with NO SMARTPHONE! The amount of time they have wasted taking my calls would equate to just giving me a new phone! My time would equate to 3 new phones. The amount spent on a phone plan service that can’t be used is ridiculous. This Geeksquad plan is and has been in good standing for the entire duration of this issue. The madness just doesn’t stop!
The amount of money WASTED on this one issue is unbelievable! Corporate Best Buy and Geeksquad are spending untold thousands of dollars with POOR MANAGEMENT such as this and passing on the expense to the consumer!!
If you're planning on shopping/purchasing at #bestbuy or using #geeksquad this holiday season, consider this post on customer service. Imagine how you would feel if a family member or friend had to deal with this type of service, especially for a gift!!!

  • Best buy, please help me on this! very disappointed and frustrated!!

    Here is my complaint:
1.I have been saving for weeks trying to buy this flat screen TV: the price has been $299.99
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/westinghouse-48-class-48-diag--led-1080p-hdtv-black/6233067.p?id=1219198...
Then finally this Tuesday I went there to buy, I checked the online price, it jumped to $329.99. I do have a mover coupon which is good for 10% off a single item. So I used, but I will have been really happy if I could have used it when the price is $299.99 instead. This mover coupon said any single item with some exclusions and I believe this Westinghouse 48" is not in the exclusion list.
After I bought Tuesday, I checked the price online today, man, it went back to $299.99. Your price mathcing policy said if the price lowered within the return period, we could get the difference back. Then I went back to the Best Buy at Fairlawn, Ohio (Montrose) location where I bought my TV. But they refuse to return the difference saying I used that coupon.
But key issue here is not using the coupon. That coupon DOES NOT SAY anything about not using on a sale item at all!!!!!
If I return the TV today and they give me back that coupon, I would have been able to buy this one again at $299.99 AND using that coupon again!  So It is very UNFAIR they are doing that.
Very disappointed and frustrated. Please help me to get this issue straightened out!! I follow all the rules, but that store clerk did not seem to understand that coupon is good for on sale items too and that TV is not on the exclusion list so they should follow the price matching promise and issue me the credit!!!!!!

here is the detail of this mover coupon:
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/regularcatpcmcat322300050002/movers-coupon/pcmcat322300050002.c?id=pcmca...
It does not have Westinghouse TV mentioned in the exclusion list and I donot believe it is a UMRP product!

  • Best Buy Appliance Delivery Not Doing What They Said They Would Do. Order Cancelled.

I recently purchased a refrigerator from bestbuy.com and chose the option to have it delivered on Tuesday the second of December (today). I received an order confirmation e-mail from best buy on the day of purchase (November 28) which stated the following (taken directly from the e-mail):
The scheduled appointment date of your item(s) below is Tuesday, December 2, 2014
We'll call you by 9PM the night before your appointment with an estimated arrival time window at the phone number(s) you provided at the time of purchase (with either live or pre-recorded calls).
Thank you for shopping with us.
    Sincerely,
    Karalyn Sartor
    Vice President Customer Care
Yesterday, on Monday the 1st of December, I got a knock on the door from the Best Buy delivery team. They had my refrigerator and were here to deliver it. I was not ready for them to deliver the refrigerator at that time, at all, as I was not expecting it. I asked the driver to please deliver it on the scheduled date. The change in scheduling happened without a postive notification.
I checked afterward and saw that their was en e-mail sent during the evening of November 30 informing me that the refrigerator would be delivered on Monday the 1st. This e-mail was in my spam folder and I did not see it. I did not expect it either as I was under the impression that I would be called by phone prior to delivery (as stated in the original purchase confirmation e-mail). So some mistake/change in scheduling happened. Not a big deal to me.
Thirty minutes ago I called the 1-888 number mentioned in the e-mail to inquire about what time I could expect my refrigerator to be delivered. I was told it was rescheduled for December 20th, which is not acceptable to me.
I was told the earliest delivery date that they could honor would be for monday the 8th of December. That is unacceptable to me as well. I was advised I had no other options for delivery other than to receive it on the 8th of December, 6 days after the aggreed upon delivery date.
In the end I cancelled the order. As a customer I do not like to be treated this way (to be told one thing at first (delivery date and that I would be called by phone), to have that one thing change, and to not be told in a *reasonable* manner that the one thing had changed.
Best Buy customer service, If you would like to contact me you have my e-mail address. You also have my correct phone number for calling me, which your system verified when it looked up my order by phone. Until then, please consider me an unsatisfied customer that will look very closely at other buying options for all my future appliance and home electronics needs.
    Thank You.
P.S. - The person I spoke to on the phone to inquire about and cancel my order was very courteous and professional.

    To Whom It May Concern,
I posted earlier regarding a refrigerator delivery problem. http://forums.bestbuy.com/t5/Delivery-Installation/Best-Buy-Appliance-Delivery-Not-Doing-What-They-S...
I've since read a few of the other posts and think I see some common issues that many others have been having:
    1. Not calling the customer. We (customers) expect someone will call us the day before a scheduled delivery date to confirm the item is being delivered and approximately what time to expect it. The confirmation e-mail you send even states that this will happen.
    2. Not notifying the customer regarding changes. We (customers) expect someone will notify us if delivery dates are changed. This is especially important if the delivery date has been moved forward, as in my case. My particular problem would have been avoided entirely if someone from Best Buy would have notified me that the refrigerator I ordered would arrive one day ahead of schedule. An e-mail is not a good enough notification when you move the shipping date forward. How do you even know I have read/received it and will be home?
    3. Not working with the customer. I've read a few forum posts where some mistake has happened, and now shipping is delayed by a signifcant amount of time (a week or more). If you (Best Buy) had some better way of working with whoever does your delivery for you, things would be better.
In my example the original delivery date was for today (Dec 2nd). You decided to deliver a day early on the 1st without making sure I knew you were coming on a differnet day than scheduled. So I wasn't ready. At this point I believe you (Best Buy) should have tried to correct this by rescheduling the delivery so that it happened on the original delivery date, December 2nd. You could have also arranged to deliver it later that same day, I would have been ok with that and had time to make things ready. Instead the delivery got rescheduled for the 20th of December by the system, and your customer service could only move it up to December 8. In a situation like this I think it would be better if you worked more with the customer (pay a driver an hour or two of overtime to get the goods delivered on the day you said you would or delay someone else who placed their order after I placed mine). Instead I was given one and only option, delivery on December 8.
In the end I took the other option, cancelling my order. You have lost my business on this sale and I now have a lower opinion of Best Buy as a company and a brand than I did before. This could have been avoided if you did any of the above three things.
    Thank you for your time.

  • Delivery date changed 4 times-called to ask what is going on and then best buy cancelled order

I ordered a 55 inch aquos  with free ROKU stick for $599.00 on Sept. 22   (removed per forum guidlelines) and got a confirmed delivery of Sept. 26.  Unfortunately, I received a call in the morning of the Sept. 26 and was told that delivery was pushed to Tues, Sept. 30.
On Monday, Sept. 29, I received an automated call informing me that the Tv will be delivered on Sept. 30 between 3:30 and 5:30. and I also received an email with the same information. Thirty minutes later I received another email stating that the delivery is again being pushed to Oct. 13. so I called customer service. I was told he can change the delivery date to Oct. 3 but call in the morning to confirm availability with warehouse.I called customer service on Sept. 30 to confirm availability and was assured that the Tv will be delivered on Oct. 3.
On Thursday Oct. 2nd, I received another email stating the order will not be delivered until Oct. 16. I remained calm and called customer service and after a very long hold time I was able to speak with a representative and again after a long hold to check what is going on, she informed me that the order is now cancelled since the item is  discontinued. I told the representative that I already lost 3 days of work due to the delivery dates changing and since the TV has to be accepted by somebody 18 years or older I needed to be home. I asked if it is unreasonable to ask for the same exact TV but 1 size bigger since the 60 inch is available and in stock (but without the ROKU stick) but unfortunately I was told it is not possible. I asked to speak with a supervisor but they are all busy but she asked for my phone number so they can call me back in 20 min.. I waited but did not get a back from the supervisor the same day.
I called again today,  Friday, Oct. 3 and I was assisted by a nice lady who after explaining my situation was sincere with her apology. She told me that she will call me back so she can speak with a supervisor about my situation. I asked her too if it is unreasonable to ask for the same exact TV but next size bigger since the one I was sold is no longer available and I lost 3 days of work due to the 3 changes in delivery dates. She affirmed that it is fair but have no authority to make decissions but will relay the history of the order to her superior so they can make a proper resolution.
After about 15 minutes I got a call  back and was told that since the bigger TV is priced at 799.00 they will give me a 50.00 dsicount for the trouble. I declined the offer since I feel that  $50.00 dollars for getting the run around and missing 3 days of work is not proper compensation and is an insult to any customer. I thanked her for trying and informed her that I am aware that it is not her fault and it is management who made this decission.
I sincerely feel  that I should have been given the next size TV for the same price of my original purchase and I should have been given a ROKU stick (which I did not ask for) for my unpleasant experience.
We are  $150.00 apart from getting a resolution but management feels like it is the right thing to do for cases like these. Being a best buy customer for many years, spending many thousand of dollars,  I am  puzzled why best buy would treat any customer the way they treated me. Please explain the policy so I can have a better understanding. The $150.00 difference can easily be recopued from my next purchase. In my opinion, it is not a very smart business practice to lose a customer this way. Again, please explain the policy to me so I can understand better.

    Hello romcarlos1,
While unforeseen complications can cause unexpected delays, it seems something went wrong at every turn. Misinformation and multiple missed appointments would frustrate me too, and I can only imagine this frustration turned into aggravation with the poor service you describe. After pulling up your account, I noticed that has been two weeks since your TV purchase, and I’m sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. I appreciate you allowing me the opportunity to explain what should have happened.
When your delivery day arrives, you should receive a call from us to narrow down the time frame to a 4-hour window.  This is done because our delivery agent’s schedule isn’t fully determined until the day of service as our customer’s needs may change prior to the delivery date. These routes are then best optimized to fit the appointments scheduled for the day. The particular television you wished to purchase is quite popular, however, and due to high demand, it’s currently on backorder in some areas of the country.  This may explain why your delivery date was continuously pushed back unexpectedly, and why we needed to reschedule multiple times.
While in backordered status, however, an online order may be cancelled if you don’t wish to wait any longer and a different model may be purchase. Upon review of your order, I noticed that it was canceled upon your request. If you have since changed your mind and wish to wait for one to arrive, you may place a new order here.
It sounds like you wish to purchase a new TV entirely though, so I understand if you don’t wish to attempt a new order. While I cannot guarantee you a different outcome than the resolution already offered, I’d be glad to look into your case to see what other options may be available. Please know I have sent you a private message to collect further information from you. • Does best buy care about their promises made on delivery date?

i've placed an order LAST thursday, and as an elite plus member i get expedite shipping automatically (accroading to bestbuy definitaion, it's a two day delivery). plus, on the confirmation emial, it says 'get it by: tuesday, jan 13th.
and only until noon today (monday), i received an email containing an tracking number from bestbuy. since best buy shipped my item out one day late, i was expecting a overnight shipping so that they can delivery my item ontime, like all other online retialers would do. but it is not. it is only ups ground, by which i will be lucky to get it in another two days.
what is worse is, until 10:00pm, ups doesnt seem to have received the package yet.
so best buy, why dont you use overnight to cover your mistake, instead, you are asking me to pay for your delay? i've been a long time constomer for both amazon and bestbuy. and amazon sometime do ship out items late, and honestly it happened a lot. but whenever they are behind the schedule, they use the fastest shipping to try to catch up the time.
best buy, you knew it was behind the schedule already when you ship it out today, why dont you use overnight shipping? were you just hoping that i wont notice? or you think it doesnt matter, your promise to your customers doesnt metter? if you dont even have the attempt to try to catch up the schedule and fullfill your promise to your clients, i can only imagine people shop less than less on bestbuy.com, and instead, go to amazon.com
hey guys, really, if you can find something on both bestbuy and amazon, go to amazon. they dont ask you to spend thousnads of dollars before give you free two days shipping, and when they are behind the schedule, they will at least try to fulfill their promises, rather than ignoring the promise.

    Hello garyleecn,
Welcome to the forum, and thank you for being a My Best Buy Elite Plus member. One benefit from being such a member is receiving free expedited shipping on most items from BestBuy.com, so I’m sorry to hear your online order isn’t arriving as quickly as you hoped. I’m sure you’re anxious to get your hands on your purchase, so I can understand why it’d be frustrating to encounter such a shipping delay.
According to our Shipping Costs & Timing policy, any expedited shipping order may take up to two business days to ship to your home. Unfortunately, there are circumstances outside of our control that can cause unexpected delays. However, you mentioned your order was mailed via UPS Ground. Please know that expedited shipping simply outlines the timeframe that the order should arrive, not necessarily the carrier’s method of shipment. This means that if you live close enough to a UPS shipping hub, UPS could deem it was unnecessary to expedite your order, as ground shipping would have gotten it there just as fast.
Having said this, I realize this situation is far from ideal, and I’d appreciate the opportunity to look into your order to see what exactly happened. In order to do this, please send me a private message with as much of the following information as possible.

  • Best Buy shouldn't be allowed steelbooks, as you guys haven't the foggiest idea what you are doing.

I swear everytime I try and go to get a steelbook from Best Buy it makes me hate Best Buy ever so much and never ever ever want to shop there because of how bad you handle this and have no idea what you are doing.
Wanted to preorder Ghost Rider and get the free steelbook but guess what they never even got them in and I checked everyday for a week after being told they were in transit on a Monday and by Wednesday was told they had been deleted by the system.  Well one good thing came out of that now I don't even have to bother buying the movie at your store.
Wanted to get the Warner Brothers line of steelbooks that you just came out but guess what just like Ghost Riders none have showed up and everytime I ask I get well 12 our on order for that title and that title and that title.
OH BUT THEY DID SET UP THE DISPLAY THAT SAYS COLLECTIBLE STEELBOOK AND JUST GRABBED AMRAY VERSIONS OFF THE SHELF BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO FRAKING CLUE WHAT THEY ARE DOING, THIS DISPLAY MAKES YOUR STORE LOOK LIKE A BUNCH OF COMPLETE MORONS AND CLUELESS AND THEY WONDER WHY BEST BUY IS CLOSING STORES ITS BECAUSE THEY ARE RAN BY IDIOTS WHO COULD CARE LESS ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS.

Aren't those Steelbooks officially out till like June 6th or something? And I worked in retail before. This may sound dumb, but sometimes they still want you to set up displays even before the items are received. You can't be mad cause they follow direction. They might of been told to fill in the space with items to look full. Honestly you're being upset for no good reason. Yeah, it sucks that you aren't seeing the items you want in stores. These are promo items so not every store will get it. Unless it's advertised in the ad, then you should be upset. If no store has any, order them online. From what I've seen, these extras are usually offered online too.sirdizzy wrote:
Really Best Buy can't take any culibility or credit for what goes on in their stores because they outsource it to another company rather they just make themself look like babooms by having something clearly labeled wrong and misleading on their floor.
Why put out a display that is clearly wrong and misleading, why when its pointed out to you by a customer does that same display remain on the floor (I took that picture yesterday not today and I informed an employee yesterday not today but it was still there today).

  • Best Buy manager escorted me out of the store after refusing to price match

Let me start by saying that I have never been escorted out of ANY retail store or business. It was appalling and embarassing and I left so angry that I might never return to Best Buy again. The store in question is:
    SAN RAFAEL CA (Store 1021)
    700 Du Bois St
    San Rafael, CA 94901-3905
    Manager - Earl
    The Story:
Yesterday, Fry's Electronics started an online/storewide sale on one of their LG LED HDTV's which I'm assuming was to clear out inventory. It was a great sale and I was hoping Best Buy would have one in stock because the nearest Fry's location was several cities away--while there were at least three or four Best Buy's on the way. And having used Best Buy's price matching system before, I was confident that everything would go well if I decided to drop by.
I walk in, immediately go to the TV department at the above mentioned Best Buy location and I asked one of the employee's to run the SKU number to see if he had one in stock. He had 1 left. I told him I'd take it and I also asked him if he would price match it to Fry's. He said no problem as long as I showed him the link or advertisement, step-by-step. So I took my phone out (also purchased at Best Buy...) and went through the Fry's website. All good.
He kept staring at his computer and after a while, said, "Sir... I can't give the TV away at that price ($349). It's too low--however, I can go down to $399 for you". I was a bit confused and eventually asked him why my price matching request all of a sudden became an auction or barter for pricing. He said something along the lines of "Well, it's case by case really, and under these circumstances and considering we only have one unit left, I cannot let it go for such a steep price cut". I was starting to get frustrated so instead of taking the conversation any further, I simply asked him if I could speak to his manager. He pointed towards the front of the store and told me to look for a guy named Earl. I actually asked him if he could just intercom the manager to come over to the TV department and he said "No, he's right in front over there".
So I walk over to the register area and of course, the manager is NOT there. So I asked one of the guys in front to grab Earl for me and a few minutes later he showed up. Now at this point, I wasn't looking to fight or argue with anyone. I know people who scream for the manager every time something trivial happens and I'm just not that type. I just wanted someone with authority to explain in better detail and I have never even talked to a Best Buy manager before. Earl came up to me and I introduced myself and shook his hand.
I started out by asking him about the Price Match policy and he immediately said "Yes, we price match but we don't do it for 1 day sales and stuff--you're the one talking about that TV right?" I explained that I had no idea whether or not that particular sale was for exactly a day but asked him why it mattered in the first place. I proceeded to tell him that it's not some kind of special "holiday" event and that it was probably just for clearing inventory purposes--which also explains why Best Buy only had ONE left.
He paused for a second and said "Well, you know even if that were true, we couldn't price match it because technically it's not a local retailer... it only applies to brick and mortar stores that are within 25 miles from our location here and I know for a fact that the nearest Fry's is farther than 25 miles from here". I was a bit stumped at his response but eventually asked him whether or not that part of the policy was referring to independent, local businesses in the area that also sold similar items--and not referring to MEGA RETAILERS like Fry's that has an online shopping and ordering system (because Best Buy had no problems price matching to Amazon or Newegg in my experience).
I actually said "You would give me the TV if Fry's was 24 miles away, but somehow won't if it turned out to be 26? Do you see how strange that sounds?" He said that if I wanted I should look it up on the map to verify for sure. I looked and indeed it was 34 miles away. While I was looking, I also noticed that there were 2 Best Buy locations that were closer and within that "25 mile radius". So I asked again "Sir, you're not making much sense. There's no reason why THOSE Best Buy locations would price match but you won't. I REALLY don't think that the 25 mile radius rule was made for this kind of scenario...not to mention that the sale that I found was on Fry's website...".
I could tell that he was getting frustrated at this point but seemed pretty stubborn. He asked me if I wanted a printed copy of their Price Matching guidelines. I said "Absolutely... go for it. I'd love to see what you're talking about". This guy took 3 steps towards the counter before turning around and said "You know what, I'm not going to do that for you--and as a matter of fact, I think it's time for you to leave". THIS made me furious--but I took a step back and asked him why? Sure, we were having a bit of an arguement over Price Matching but I wasn't yelling or screaming or causing any sort of public disturbance. There weren't even any customers nearby--the only people who might have overheard us was a few of the Geeksquad technicians since we were standing next to their booth.
I told him again, that I just wanted to know why he seemed so adamant about not price matching the TV set. He said that he tried explaining to me but that I wasn't "getting it" so it was time for me to leave. I said "You know what, all you keep doing is pulling excuses everytime I ask a question. What if I walked in here tonight and told you the sale was from Amazon or something? How is this different..?"
At this point he pointed to his employees as if they were security guards or something and they ESCORTED me out of the (removed per forum guidelines) store! Like I was a thief that just got caught stealing something! At this point I was mortified because now there WERE people who were looking and I had to do the walk of shame back to my car as if I were some second rate citizen.
As absolutely embarassing as that was--I still wanted to purchase the TV. So I called another store that was much farther away from me but I figured it would play into that 25 mile radius quib--not that it should matter:
    EMERYVILLE CA (Store 499)
    3700 Mandela Pkwy
    Oakland, CA 94608-3566
Spoke to a very nice lady at their location and she checked to see if they had any in inventory. I was on hold for a while but she physically went around the store to see if they had one. Again, they had ONE. This time, it was an open-box unit. Because I didn't want to waste any more time, I immediately asked her if they would be willing to Price Match to Fry's. She said of course--and that so long as the sale was visible online and that I could show her, that would be no problem. She also said that if I decided to take advantage of Price Matching, I would not receive their open-box discount (the discounts don't "stack"). I said that's fine and asked her if she could do her best to hold it for me as I was on the way and slightly stuck in traffic.
She spoke to the TV department folks and they said they would hold it no problem til the end of the night (it was already 7pm when I called). She took my name and number and I told her I would be there in about an hour.
Lo and behold I arrive and the TV is gone. I couldn't track down the girl who spoke to me over the phone, and the TV department guy that I spoke to said he had no knowledge of them holding any sort of TV for anyone (he wasn't lying--he really didn't seem to know). Awesome.
    Best Buy - 2 / Me - 0
Thanks for the most horrific retail experience ever, Best Buy. You win.

They do not match online prices for Fry's under their new policy. Hence it would only be if there was a Fry's within 25 miles of the said store
    "The Details:
At the time of sale, we price match all local retail competitors (including their online prices) and we price match products shipped from and sold by these major online retailers: Amazon.com, Bhphotovideo.com, Crutchfield.com, Dell.com, HP.com, Newegg.com, and TigerDirect.com.
We match BestBuy.com prices on in-store purchases and in-store prices on BestBuy.com purchases.
If we lower our price during the return and exchange period, we will match our lower price, upon request.
Our Price Match Guarantee covers one price match per identical item, per customer, at the current pre-tax price available to all customers.
Our Price Match Guarantee does not cover:
The online prices of retailers not listed.
Contract mobile phones sold by any online retailer.
Products shipped from or sold by third-party sellers (Marketplace sellers) on websites.
Competitors' service prices, Best Buy For Business transactions and BestBuy.com Clearance & More and Marketplace items.
Any financing offers, bundle offers, free items, pricing errors, mail-in offers, coupon offers, items that are advertised as limited quantity, out of stock items, clearance items, open-box items, refurbished items, pre-owned items, deal of the day, daily deals, special hour sale event items, credit card offers, gift card offers, rent/lease to own items, and items for sale Thanksgiving Day through the Monday after Thanksgiving, whether offered by Best Buy or a competitor."
"What is considered a local retail competitor?
A local retail competitor for retail store purchases is a retail store authorized by a vendor to sell a new, factory-sealed product with a warranty and is located in the same market area (within a 25 mile radius) of your local Best Buy store. A local retail competitor for BestBuy.com purchases is a retail store authorized by a vendor to sell a new, factory-sealed product with a warranty and is located in the same market area (within a 25 mile radius) as either the billing address or the shipping address on record for the purchase."

  • Done With Best Buy, Thanks to TRE

Bought a $40 memory card for my wife's camera a few days ago.  Found a better deal online (surprise surprise) and returning the memory card--unopened--the next day.  The rude, obnoxious clerk (typical of what you find at BB stores these days) bluntly informed me---in front of 10 other people standing in line---that this would be the last return I would be allowed to do for 90 days because I return too many items to the store.  Wow.  First, I rarely return anything to BB stores unless it's a defective product---like the iPhone windshield mount that I had to return 3 times before finally getting one that didn't stop working a week later.  I've certainly never bought a TV on Super Bowl weekend, just to return it on Monday.  I'm certainly no fraud/scam artist either.
If you are going to insist on treating your customers this way, fine.  I can tell you how I feel about that by speaking with my wallet.  It cost you a sale that night, since I had items in my hand to purchase before being embarrassed in front of a dozen people by a clerk and some obscure rule/software program that is obviously flawed.  You guys must not be paying attention to trends as they relate to electronics sales....there's a reason you're the only dinosaur left...and with policies like this, your time is going to run very short indeed.
You can bet I'm going to Twitter/Facebook on this as well...

    Good afternoon FortWorthGuy,
Welcome to the forum! While I wish you had better cause in posting, I greatly appreciate you sharing your experience with The Retail Equation with us. It’s regrettable to hear that you may have found the memory card for your wife’s camera elsewhere for a better deal; enough so that you felt it warranted returning it.
The Retail Equation (TRE) is a separate company from Best Buy that we, as well as many other retailers, use to monitor returns and exchanges on an individual level. The information collected to monitor these returns and exchanges is electronically secured in accordance with state and federal laws regarding customer privacy. For more information about The Retail Equation for Consumers, you should feel welcome to visit their website here.
I apologize if you have found this policy to be a deterrent to shopping with us, and hope that you will provide us a chance to win you back in the future. It is certainly not meant to cause this reaction, and I am truly glad that you've chosen to provide us with your feedback. If you should have any questions, please let me know!
