B75MA-P45 and Intel Xeon E3-1230V2, is a videocard necessary?
Hi all,
I want to buy a MSI B75MA-P45 in combination with an Intel Xeon E3-1230V2, but do I need to buy a videocard if I only need to use the Linux console. I will be installing a VMware ESX on it.
Thanks in advance
Since the Xeon doesn't have integrated graphics, I think you have to connect a kind of dummy plug to an onboard graphics port to trick the system into thinking it has graphics and monitor.

Z77A-GD55 and Intel Xeon E3-1230V2?
Hello everyone
my Holiday Project is a reconfiguration of my AMD System to a Intel Platform.
The Mainboard for this will be the Z77A-GD55.
My Problem is
i cant find on the CPU Compatibility List (Sorry, you are not allowed to post external links.) the E3-1230V2
I would like to order but only if I can be sure that the components fit.
best regards
MuMMeLAny specific reason you prefer the Xeon over the i5 or i7 Ivy?
The only real difference is, you will need a discrete GPU card if you opt for the Xeon and you can use memory with ECC.
Here are the current supported CPUs http://www.msi.com/product/mb/Z77A-GD55.html#/?div=CPUSupport
You can check here if you would like confirmation. http://us.msi.com/service/PreSaleForm/ -
Hyperion Planning and Intel Xeon
Dear All,
I am currently installing the following Hyperion products:
Essbase, Planning, Scorecard, Reporting and Analysis.
Server specs:
Intel Xeon Processor E5540 (4 cores)
22GB RAM
My concern is the Xeon, is it supported by Hyperion products or not?
Your answer is very appreciated.
BR,
ioGGo.Hi,
Thank you so much for your answer. So far after installing Oracle DB, Essbase, Planning, Reporting and Analysis, Scorecard, and ODI on a single machine 16 GB Ram Xeon 4 cores and Windows Server 2003 32-bits, it seems like everything is working fine except Business Rules.

Parameter cpu_count and Intel Xeon
Hello,
I have server HP ProLiant 380DL with physical 2 processors Intel Xeon 3.06GHz with Hyper Threading. My OS Linux show me that there are 4 processors (because of the hyper threading). Oracle parameter cpu_count has value 4.
Have anybody experience with the same processors and right settings of parameter cpu_count. (I know that oracle documentation recommends that don't change this parameter).
Thanks for adviceCPU_COUNT is a parameter dinamically adusted by the Oracle instance. Oracle perfectly supports hyper threading and there is no need to change the value of this parameter.

MSI B75MA-P45 and Red Caviar 3 TB
Hello! I recently purchased the MSI B75MA-P45 motherboard and the 3TB Red Caviar HDD. I had sent my computer to the shop for the installation and when I collected it, the techies there said something about how the Red Caviar is "too big" and that there were partition issues. They also mentioned the need to download some sort of an "unlocking" software for the motherboard to solve the issue.
But the HDD and the partitions seem to work fine. They are my D: and G: drives, at 1.99TB and 931 GB respectively. And I do believe these parameters are normal after formatting. Were they just mistaken about something? I just can't see what the problem is.
I would appreciate any input on this matter. Thank you!Wow, that was easier than I thought.. after hours of browsing internet, trying all kinds of BIOS settings, eventually I just opened the case and plugged out the SATA cables and plugged them back in. Boom, it works. Didn't expect it to be that easy since the Winki still could see the HD.
Seems BIOS is more sensitive than the Winki. But there you go, problem solved. -
MSI H61I-E35-B3 Mini ITX and Intel Xeon LGA1155 Cpu ?
Hi,
I've bought MSI H61I-E35-B3 Mini ITX board, it supports LGA1155 processors, core i3 / i5 / i7. My question is - have anyone tested this board with Intel Xeon processor ? For example Intel Xeon E3-1235 3.20GHz LGA1155. I've read in some other Mini ITX LGA 1155 boards descryptions, that they suport this cpu's. Maybe this one can also support it.It's not in the supported list; http://eu.msi.com/product/mb/H61I-E35--B3-.html#/?div=CPUSupport
Recommend to confirm with MSI Tech Support; http://support.msi.com -
Hey, I've just completed my first build using B75MA-P45 mainboard, Intel Xeon E3 1230 V2, 2x 4 GB Sticks of Ram 1866mhz, 1 TB Seagate HD, PowerColor Raedon HD 7950 3GB, XFX PRO 450w 80 plus Bronze.
I'm having an issue not being able to boot up properly. I can't get any output from my graphics card. I did intially get the 3 long beeps which made me reseat the ram. It fixed the issue but I can't get an output. Any clues on what todo next?No :/ Are we sure its the Graphics card? The computer restarts about 10 seconds after booting? I also have a keyboard plugged in but it doesn't seem to light up when the computer starts but all the usb are rightly connected.

Hello, I have many Intel Xeon X3350 Revision C1 (Socket 775 LGA) and i use the board with Intel workstation chipset. I do not tell the brand but I have problems of reliability in a few months from installation (capacitor problem) .
To work the workstations are operating 18 hours a day, 6 days a week.
I am convinced that many board for entusiast are very strong. Then I thought: why I do not buy the board with costs more affordable and easier to configure? What you recommend the MSI board with "normal" chipset that supports DDR2 and Intel XEON X3350 C1 that can work for at least 18 months.
Thank you in advance.

MSI B75MA-P45 "Reboot and Select proper Boot device"
Hey guys, I just had this PC delivered to me yesterday, pre-built after my specs. Been using their company for a decade and never had an issue (that said, they might very well have screwed up this time, but I would love some feedback).
So, when I plug in the PC and boot it it get stuck at "Reboot and Select proper Boot device" (and in the bottom right it blink between A2/B4 before it gets to the reboot prompt).
What I have done to try to fix this:
1) Go into BIOS and swap around the boot order. No luck with that, and I cannot find the SSD HD on the list either.
2) Confirmed it was set on AHCI mode.
3) Booted with the MSI Motherboard CD to get to Winki. In the Winki file manager I do see the SSD HD with Windows installed! But the BIOS cannot find it.
The specs:
Board: MSI B75MA-P45
Bios: E7798IMS V1.5
VGA: ASUS Geforce GTX660Ti
PSU: Corsair CX 500
Intel Core i7-3770
Corsair Cooling Hydro H55
RAM: Corsair XMS3 Vengeance CL9
Samsung SSD 840 Series 120 GB
Seagate Barracuda 2TB
Win 8
So I'm left a bit dumbstruck here. It seems quite clear the BIOS cannot find the SSD for some reason, but I'm not sure how to sort this?
I mean: I do see Windows in the Winki file manager, so the HD is clearly there and readable. But on the other hand it cannot find it in the BIOS so I can't choose it as a boot drive.
Any suggestions on what might cause this and how I could solve it?

I have tried to install 10.6 and when install is complete it says restart. The computer restarts but keeps coming to a gray screen with a small black box that says to restart. The processor is 2 x 2.66 GHz Dual Core Intel Xeon with 2 GB of memory. This should be more than adequate. Any ideas? Has anyone encountered this before? I had to restore 10.5 from Time Machine.
Your sig line says iMac, but TMK no iMacs were ever made with 2x2.66 GHz processors. Is this a Mac Pro you are installing on? Are you using a retail Snow Leopaard DVD?

I have a Mac Pro Intel Xeon 3.2 Ghz Quad core (mid 2012) using OSX 10.7.5) and cannot get iDVD to run. I tried 7.0.4 and 7.1.2, both from Apple software update and both crash during "loading themes". I am reluctant to upgrade OSX from 10.7.5 because I do not want to loose Final Cut Express 4.0.1. Apple Care no longer supports iDVD. I want a version if iDVD that supports Chapter markers as in iDVD 7.?.? that i used with my old (now deceased) Apple Power PC Mac Pro.
iDVD 7 should work fine with 10.7.5. Try this basic troubleshooting fix:
1 - delete the IDVD preference file, com.apple.iDVD.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete IDVD'S cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iDVD folder.
3 - launch IDVD and try again.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

I have a Mac Pro 4,1 quad core intel Xeon running mac OSX 10.6.8 and I have just moved studios and now need to use the Internet wirelessly but there's no airport facilities on this model can anyone tell me what model of airport card I would need for this mac
Instead of getting a wireless card for the Mac Pro, you might want to consider getting an 802.11ac wireless bridge device that would enable you to connect more than one device to it by Ethernet cable and to eventually take advantage of the faster 802.11ac wireless standard.

I have Ps CS4. I run Apple OS X 10.9.5 on a new MacPro 3GHz 8-core Intel Xeon E5 - 64 GB. I hardly ever use CS4 ( preferring Elements for my low level needs), but I now want to use it's function for stitching together a landscape. I fire it up and get Error 150:30 with the suggestion to contact you - hence this message

Is it ok to leave my old photos in Aperature and start with new photos in Lightroom? MacPro with 2 x 2.26 Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon processor, 6 GB memory, 1 TB harddrive?
Or should I transfer them to Lightroom? That's really a personal preference. Support for Aperture is coming to an
end and you may find yourself unable to get to theses photos in the future
in the case of a HDD crash if you can't get the software to reinstall.
Faced with that prospect, I would probably put it on my list of things to
do when I am feeling really bored and looking for something to amuse myself
with. You can export your Aperture photos in their original format to a
folder on your desktop and then import them into Lightroom. Use the copy
option on the import to save the photos in a new folder within your
Lightroom catalog.
