Problem with dual channel memory (B75MA-P45)
Hello,
I can't make the dual channel memory working.
When I put DDR3 in slots 2 + 4 or slots 1 + 3 and even if all slots are installed with the same DIMM, it does not boot and restart in loop.
Currently, this mobo works with DDR3 in slots 1 + 2 (so without dual channel).
I have read posts about bent pins, therefore I inspected the CPU seating but nothing seems wrong.
My CPU has been recovered from a HP pavilion ; don't know whether it's important or not.
Hope someone has a tip for me.
My configuration:
Motherboard: B75MA-P45
CPU: i5-2320
Memory: tried several, finally tested 4 x 4GB Kingston PC3-10600 CL9 240 (KVR13N9S8/4)
Graphic card: Palit GeForce GTX-750 TiThanks for your answers.
I'll try asap slots 3 & 4.
It's almost a new build (one month ago). The whole story is:
I bought the motherboard and two memory sticks of 2 and 4 GB DDR3 as I already had similar ones on my HP pavilion (but not exactly the same, not same brand). I expected to run on 12 GB dual channel memory. But the dual channel did not work at first try. After some additionnal testing, I tought it was because the sticks aren't compatible ones with others. So I purchased 3 sticks of Kingston 4 GB, exactly the same reference as one I already have.
Now, I'm pretty sure that this problem isn't related to memory sticks.
I already did a clear CMOS during installation for other reason but it didn't solve this problem.
Since, this PC works well with Win7. I tested it under considerable stress and it runs just fine. -

B75MA-P45 with celeron g1610?
I bought IB Celeron G1610, and planning to buy B75MA-P45. My question is will it work with this MB? On CPU support list, for this board, is not listed, maybe the list isn't populated or something...
Best to ask MSI. http://us.msi.com/service/PreSaleForm/
That CPU was released this year, last BIOS update for that MB was December of last year so no telling whether that CPU would work or not, probably not or if it does it would not be fully supported and would possibly have problems with it.
Edit: I just did a bit of a search at MSI and from the list of MB's that support that CPU I found this B75 part of the list:
B75A-E33
B75A-G41
B75A-G43
B75IA-E33
B75MA-E33
B75MA-G43
B75MA-P45
So apparently it is supported and MSI has not updated CPU support list since Dec last year. -
Compatibility HD 7790 B75MA-P45
Hi guys, i need help. I got this motherboard: cz.msi.com/product/mb/B75MA-P45 .html and i buy this graphic card: cz.msi.com/product/vga/R7790-2GD5-OC .html. Before this card i have ATI SAPPHIRE HD 2600XT and my computer works perfectly. Now I installed new graphic card, installed drivers from CD and here my problems started. I get BlueScreens PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA randomly. Is it that graphic card is not compatible with my motherboard? I runned HD Tune PRO my HDD is clear any MemTest86+ doesn´t show nothing (4GB Kingston HyperX DDR3 1600Mhz). I got Windows 7 Home Edition 64bit and nothing overclocked. What´s wrong?
Board: B75MA-P45
Bios: Version 1.8
VGA: MSI R7790-2GD5/OC
PSU: Corsair CX500 (500W, 80 Plus Bronze, ATX2.2, aktívne PFC, SATA, 120mm)
Intel Core i5-3350P Ivy Bridge 3.1GHz (3.3GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 69W

HDD: Western Digital Blue 1000GB 64MB cache
COOLER: Intel Box Fan
OC: Nothing
OS: Windows 7 64bit Home Premium
Have ATI SAPPHIRE HD 2600XT before, no problems, now installed AMD HD 7790 2GB OC and have blue screens PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA.
Reinstall my Windows, installed new drivers from amd.com, download newest drivers for motherboard from msi.com, installed new BIOS v1.8.
Checked HDD with HDD Tune PRO, no errors, RAM module checked with MemTest86+ and no errors.
WhoCrashed show me that BlueScreens was beause of Avast! driver fault, uninstalled it and blue screen show aggain and show this:

It´s because of compatibility of graphic card with my motherboard or some other problem?

R9 290 problem on MSI B75MA-P45
Hello there,
I have two computers here.
Comp1:

Bios Version: 1.9 (Latest)
Video Card: onboard
PSU: GigaByte 610Watt (Peak 750 Watt)

Comp2:
Main Board: MSI-H61MA-E35 (B3)
Bios Version: -
Video Card: onboard
PSU: OCZ 500W Mod-X-Stream pro
12v rail Rating of listed PSU: -
CPU: G630
Memory: 8GB
SSD/ HDD: 240 GB SSD-
CPU COOLER:
Raid Card:
Sound Card:
Any Additional hardware plugged into your system:
OC: No
Operating System: Windows 7 64 bit
The problem is that my new R9 290 doesnt work on the first comp. When pressing the power button the fan of the GPU is maxing and makes alot of noise. Connecting my monitor to the onboard GPU i see the comp is working and is booting into windows. Updating the Bios didnt work and chosing PEG instead of IGP doesnt matter.
To check if the R9 290 is working i put it in comp2. It boots normally, and no problems. I began to wonder if the PSU of comp1 is the problem.
So i Changed the PSU of comp2 to comp1 and pushed the power button. Same as before: alot of noise and not working.
Meanwhile it Boots into windows. Connecting my monitor to the onboard video I can see it boots into windows. But I dont see the R9 290 at all in the hardware device list.
My first conclusion: The XFX R9 290 isnt recognized by the B75MA-P45 Motherboard at all, even when i switch the PSU from comp2.
I need the card to work on comp 1 because that is my computer. (Comp2 I borrowed from a friend for testing).Quote from: vondutchx on 28-December-13, 18:40:07
Litecoin mining :P, and for the games i play the setup is more then enough. If it would work...
A tip to all the Bit/Lite coin miners:
Just plug 6 AMD graphic cards into a piece of wood and you'll become a real "miner". -
So this is my first build and my configurations are
Intel i5 3570
Corsair vengeance 4 GB DDR3
Corsair CX600W PSU
Cooler master HAF 912 Combat cabinet
Nvidia GTX 660(Yet to be delivered)
Seagate barracuda 1 TB
So,I breadboarded my motherboard with the CPU,heatsink,RAM and PSU.
I fired it up and there was no POST beep on the speaker.
Then I removed the RAM and I got 3 long beeps which means bad memory.
So,my question is that what is the culprit? I guess if it can manage to give 3 long beeps for no RAM,the processor is fine.
The leftover parts are PSU,mobo and RAM.I am yet to borrow a RAM from my friend and PSU seems fine as there was very less load on it(not even a GPU).
Is there anyone with a B75MA-P45 who faced anything like that? Can this really be a bad mobo? The caps seem fine and theres no point of static flowing into it.
Also, the fans attatched to the motherboard powerup as well so this might mean that power is being supplied to motherboard and it isn't short.
Please reply soon as I'm really worried and pissed off on this problem :|So,yesterday I wrote about how I couldn't get a POST beep. Now,things got worse.Today when I tried to power up the PC..it didn't :\ No cabinet fans spinning,no CPU fan snipping..NOTHING.
I removed the front panel headers and short the board manually to power it up but still the same.
PSU could have been bad but I tried the paper-clip method and the PSU's fan was working on when I used that method.
I have already applied for a replacement but as of now I would like to diagnose the problem. As with the paper-clip method,I short the 24 pin power plug. So,that means that 24-pin cable is working.
That comes down to either the 24-pin socket OR ATX 4 pin cable/SOCKET which is beside the processor. As I have a ATX 4x4 pin cable I tried to use both of them but to no avail.
That lowers down to the ATX 4 pin socket. So,that got screwed?
The last time I powered up my PC was yesterday by breadboarding it.After that I placed it back into the cabinet.
What are your thoughts on this one? Can you suggest me something to make it working again? Will CMOS reset help in such case?
And is it normal that my ATX 24 pin power cable has 23 wires?
Please reply as soon as possible. -
B75MA-P45 USB 3 windows 8 ISSUE
To MSI:
There is a problem with the usb-3 and windows 8 on B75MA-P45 motherboard.
It will not recognize a external usb-3 HDD, it will show that it is connecting the device but it's not showing in the explorer, it can't be access, then later, Windows 8 will create an error message on the drivers installation.
My external HDD is a TOSHIBA 750GB, the CPU is corei3 (3rd), two memory Patriot 4GB DDR1600, the HDD 1,5TB SEAGATE, and the system is windows 8 professional
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance. What is the bios version?
I have attached the most recent full release.
>>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
Option1 point at the full archive (do not extract the files) then point the tool at your fat32 formatted usb stick.
Boot to usb and flash.
If you are already at this version, reflash anyway, clear the cmos with the power cord removed and retest.
If the problem persists, I will check for a beta version to try.
Edit:
Make sure this is your board prior to flashing.

CPU spikes - what's the latest?
I posted a question about this in another thread but haven't heard anything back yet - and am desperate for answers so figured I'd try again!
I've just started having a big problem with CPU spikes, seemingly out of the blue.
After having had no problems (that have affected my workflow at least) since updating to Logic 8 when it first came out, the last 2 songs I've worked on have both started having repeated CPU spikes. In both cases the songs (which have for the previous couple of weeks been running fine as I've worked on them) suddenly seem to reach some kind of critical mass and stop at least 4 or 5 times in the song (with a processor overload) making it impossible to mix. The spikes themselves appear to occur every 10 seconds or so.
Though the songs have previously been fine during sections with many tracks, plugins and instruments running, once this starts happening even the most sparse sections can suddenly no longer play without overloading.
In the past, bouncing any instruments to audio or freezing processor-intensive tracks would clearly lessen the load and allow the song to play without a hiccup, but it seems once this starts happening that any attempts I make to pare the song back barely help at all. Even if, in between spikes, the song is running with about 25% max on the CPU meter, when a spike comes both processors momentarily max out and stop the track.
Strangely, with the latest song, even reverting to previous versions (ie from a few days ago when I was having absolutely no problems of this kind) the computer can suddenly no longer cope with the spikes (which I assume have been happening all along but haven't affected playback before now). Weird but true.
I've tried disabling all audio unit plug ins in AU manager, setting all channel strip inputs to no input, running the song using Core Audio rather than the MOTU 828 and repairing permissions with DiskUtility.
Today I tried a clean install of 10.5.3 and 8.0.2 on a new drive (no 3rd party plugins or ANYTHING apart from Logic and OSX installed) - still with exactly the same result.
I've even tried copying all the audio from the arrange into a brand new song, adding the plugins and routing to busses track by track, all the while keeping an eye on the CPU meter. As soon as I've sent just a couple of tracks to aux channels and added only 3 or 4 instances of Channel EQ and Compressor I notice the spiking begin. It's clear that by the time I've finished the setting up of the song the spikes will be maxing out again.
I realise I'm running an old machine (ie Dual 1G G4) but it has, up until now, been working spot on under the current system (I've been using 10.4.11 and hadn't updated to Leopard until today cos I haven't wanted to upset the delicate equilibrium!)
Thankfully I've found a clunky workaround by copying the song on to my Macbook and running that in my studio - a lifesaver but not satisfactory. (I can see the spikes on the Macbook too but playback isn't affected).
I've been using Logic forever and know this behaviour (and unresponsiveness to all my troubleshooting attempts) isn't normal!
I've seen the threads from a few months back but am wondering is anybody else out there still having similar issues? Or has anyone had them and solved them?
Please help!
Cheers
DuaneThe latest? It's still spikes constantly here. IMHO, I think there is an issue with-in LP 8 itself with symetric multi-tasking to more than one core... evenly distributing the load between cores. It's hit or miss with me & completely un-predictable and random (the CPU spikes). I've tried all the same quick fixes or work-arounds, of which none seem to make any difference at all. Even setting core audio buffer to 1024 & disabling safety buffer.
Oddly I do find it interesting that on my system anyway, Ivory 1.7 & Atmosphere 1.2, once initially instantiated on an inst track, will consistently evenly distribute between both cores (I have a dual core machine)... and never spike the CPU, no matter how much polyphony I use on either one, with the core audio buffer set to 128. There has to be something the way these two virtual synth plugs are coded differently, to utilize an even symetric threading or distribution to multi cores. -> I am no computer wiz tech head by any means, but this is the best way I can explain it.

MainStage 2 performance / CPU Spikes
MainStage 1 was almost perfect.
Just to join the misery ... Same problems (i am reading about on Forums everywhere) here with MainStage 2. Huge cpu spikes and stuttering audio from Virtual Synths. Basically unplayable. CPU usage is at least 30% higher, even when NOTHING is happening. Also memory usage behaves strange, its way too high. Nr of Virtuals doenst really matter, lets say 3x a Native Instr B4II is enough to crack it.
Strangely enough .. as a Rewire App (receiving 20 channels from Ableton, and mixing them in MainStage) ... it behaves quite well.
They got to be working on a fix here. I Hope. Any Apple insider reading this who has word ?44100KhZ / 16Bit.
After re-creating my entire concert from scratch, my problems are 'sortof' over.
No audio stutters anymore.
Conclusion : Importing MS1 concerts in MS2 is probably not without errors.
===
Still, CPU Usage Meter goes crazy (randomly in RED).
I know .. many people told me .. don't worry .. its fine.
Just don't like it, and if the MS2 CPU Usage Meter is mirroring the one in Activity Monitor, whats the bloody use anyway ?
===
Memory Usage behaves strange. Its rising and rising while i am changing patches. Seems to me Memory Management has a bug.
Still hoping for a fix. -
Mainstage 2.2.1 cpu spike
Hi all,
Following updating to mainstage 2.2.1 and the macbook Pro update, I am getting frequent CPU spikes (and associated 'unable to process audio in time message) in mainstage. I am struggling to isolate the problem, I thought it was the TruePianos AU, but I am intermittently getting the fault in a blank concert too. So much so that I have reverted back to 2.2 untill the problem is fixed. Is anyone else having the same issue? It's always benn extremely stable before but last week I had to quit and restart in the middle of a gig - something ive never had to do before with MS
Any thoughts about how I can perhaps go through some fixes / fault finding please?
Thanks in advace all.

also try the advanced settings for buffer sizes, there's an earlier post on here about that - really helped my rig.
make sure you're actually "playing" in performance mode and not edit mode (could be the autosave you're seeing).
you might want to consider going to a newer Mac (I know I am now that there's multi-core support), but an upgrade to 8GB RAM, and running in 64-bit is probably also a good idea. -
Java 1.4.2 version CPU spike to 100%, require tools to monitor CPU spike
Hi,
When using our application CPU is spiked to 100% (Suspecting memory leak here). The Java version used is Java 1.4.2_04. This CPU spike is seen only when more users are logged in (may be around 25 users and more).
Any tools to monitor the CPU spike (other than perfmon) ? How to nail down the memory leak issue or CPU spike in code perspective.
Please suggest some tools to do monitoring as well..
Thanks in Advance. It's quite heard to create a memory leak with Java (except from creating objects in a loop or something like that). Perhaps it's only the garbage collector? If you have a memory leak you don't only get a CPU spike, but the VM will exit if the heap space is full.
I used JProfiler before and it's really good. -
Periodic CPU spikes in Solaris 8
I am having a very strange problem that I cannot seem to figure out. I have a very simple client/server app that uses Corba (TAO ORB) between two Solaris 8 machines. I was running some performance test and found that about every 10 minutes my application will go from using about 2% of the CPU to using 45% of the CPU. The spike lasts about 2 minutes and then it drops back down to 2%. This happens EVERY 10 minutes like clockwork. I tried slowing down the transaction rate and the spike got smaller, about 15%, but it still occured every 10 minutes. If I run the test on a single machine (client and server collocated) the spikes do not occur. I tried running my app on two Linux machines and the problem does not occur. I can reproduce this problem with a simple program that does nothing other than send UDP packets between two machines. I have tried tweaking various parameters in the IP stack but nothing seems to work. Has anyone seen a problem like this or have any insight into why it occurs?

from a different direction, we are sending UDP packets and
experiencing packet loss at regular intervals. It was a
problem with Solaris 2.6...it got worse with Solaris 8.
Since I'm new to this problem (just got it passed on to me
from those who have observed it), I have no idea whether
these losses correspond with CPU spikes...but I'm
sure going to find out.
Please let me know of any other info you've learned

History of Processes - how to view which process caused CPU spike?
We have been facing an issue with a domain controller (Windows Server 2008 R2, VM on ESX 5.0) over the past week. Around twice a day, the CPU spikes at 100% for about 10 minutes. We notice because we receive an alert from the hypervisor, but by the time we can actually log in to check what process is causing it, it would have come back to normal. There doesn't seem to be any pattern re times, its quite erratic. Sometimes at 08:00AM, sometimes at 01:00AM, 4:00AM, 7:00PM, etc. Also nothing in the Event Logs.
It's not a big deal but I just want to know if I can somehow record theprocess history, to see which process was stuck at 100% at a certain time. I know about Performance Monitor (perfmon) but it doesn't really meet my requirements since it doesn't record the actual processes (e.g. AV.exe, svchost.exe, chrome.exe, etc).Any...
This topic first appeared in the Spiceworks CommunityYou might check with your apps' developers to see if they support AppleScript, Automator, or other scripting languages that might be used for this. Some programs have built-in macro and scripting options that can be set up in a built-in editor or run in a built-in command-line environment of sorts, while others supply libraries for external scripting with AppleScript and others.
As for live tracing of a program's commands, most that you use will be coded in a low level language like C, C++, Java, or Objective-C, which are compiled and run in binary machine code as opposed to an interpreted language (one that does not need compiling to run), as is the case with most scripting languages (shell scripts, AppleScript, Matlab, etc.).
For the most part, the only options you have for "tracing" a program's functions are to monitor output that it might log to the console. You can see this by opening the console, but the output here is diagnostic in nature and is programmatically limited to what the programmers have intended be output (ie, things like warnings and errors, as opposed to every action the program is taking). You can also use the Terminal to directly launch a program's executable so it is hosted in the Terminal shell. This will give you direct access to all of the program's output, as opposed to that only intended for logging in the Console, but it is still not the same as a full output of the commands and routines the program is performing.
Some of Apple's developer tools can allow you to better monitor a program's functions, but these are intended for developers, and have some requirements, and will not allow you to use any results for productivity automation.

My largest beef with Lightroom is that for the most part, the HSL sliders are good for creative color but difficult and slow for color corrections. And the white balance controls are terrible for color corrections when used to an RGB system as used i
