B8350

Printer was working fine. Low ink warning. Installed photo and tri color cartridges now the printer says no tri color cartridge detected. Removed and reinserted cartridge with no change. Followed instructions and removed contact protection tape. Has anyone had this type of problem? Thanks for any help.

The best place for replacement parts would be the HP Replacement Parts Store. This is the best option I can think of unless you want to find another printer like yours to use for parts. There may be 3rd party sources for parts but this is the best option I would recommend.

Photosmart B8350 Prints page bottom as black block

My Photosmart B8350 printer sometimes prints what should be blank space at page bottom as a large black block.
This mostly occurs on the last page of a set, or the bottom of a single page, but have had intermediate pages (eg. pages 2 & 4 of 5) that contain text also filled at the bottom as a black block.
I am printing in the FAST DRAFT MODE, manual duplexing, black/grey cartridge only so as to conserve ink when print when the print color or quality is NOT an issue. Only needing something readable.
It would seem that I am defeating the aim of conserving ink if I'm going to get nearly half a page printing as a black block.
Has anyone else encountered this problem of blank space printing as a black block and what solution(s) did you use?

All options gone when printing to HP photosmart B8350

This printer, an HP photosmart B8350, used to work with a champ with LR1 (Mac OS 10.5.4).
First time I tried to print out of LR2, all the HP options for selecting paper type, print quality, ink saturation levels, etc. are gone.
All these options are still present if I try to print out of Photoshop.
I updated the HP software, and confirmed that printing functions still work properly on other apps besides LR.
I used Manage by Printer before, and got better results than application-managed (opposite of what others experienced, but hey it worked).
By the way, under Color Management - instead of Managed by Printer or Manged by Application, now it says Managed By Printer or "Other." Selecting "Other" brings up a list of HP profiles for combinations of paper and ink (i.e., Premium Plus / Tri-Color+Grey, Premium Plus / Tri-Color+Photo, etc).
Any ideas? I was already frustrated by the fact that LR2 stopped being able to send files to PS CS3. Now, in order to print from, I have to save files as tifs and then open in PS. Grrr!

When you hit Print, is the dialog that comes up really small? If so, there's a triangle you can hit to the right of the Printer menu in the dialog that'll expand it to full size. This was something Apple added in 10.5 to simplify printing, but it's caused a lot of confusion.
If that's not it, are any of the menu items in the middle menu (the one that starts out saying "Layout") crossed out? If so, you're probably running in 64 bit mode and the printer driver probably does not work in 64 bit. If you're using the latest driver, then try launching Lightroom in 32 bit mode (in the Finder, do Get Info on the application and check Open in 32 Bit Mode).
If neither of those work, let me know.

Three years still in the box printer PRO B8350

Hello,
I bought the HP PRO B8350 almost three years ago. For many reasons, it's still in the box, unopened.
1. Is there any point in getting it out of the box or all the print heads dried up so I might as well toss it?
2. Can this printer work with a Mac or just a PC? (In case I decide to try.)

I can't see any problems with the printheads if you have never installed the ink cartridges and the printer has drivers for most versions of Windows from 2000 to Windows 7, Mac OS X,and linux and can be downloaded on the link below - the windows 7 driver is included in the OS.

It probably would be a good idea to buy new ink cartridges as the ones in the box may have set

Printing on custom-sized pages (10.625" x 11.69") with my hp photosmart pro b8350.

I need to be able to print on custom-sized pages (10.625" x 11.69") with my HP Photosmart Pro B8350. In fact, it's the only reason I have this printer. I used to be able to, and don't know why I can't now. I did upgrade my OS to Win7 a while back. That may have been the killer. It would really annoy me if my OS upgrade has rendered my printer totally useless.
(In case there's no solution to my problem, then here's my next question......)
If I can't do this anymore, I will need to buy a new printer that WILL allow me to print these special custom pages. Any suggestions?

The envelope size that you might be talking about is a 6.75 Regular, or 6.75R. If you were printing on window envelopes, it would be 6.75W. In all my life, I have never heard of a #6 ep. Yes, you have a challenge with 6.75 because the rollers are not in the correct place for this size of item. In order for me to print 10R envelopes, I have to insert a precut sheet of paper inside the envelope so that the envelope pulls correctly and doesn't get jammed. You might try this with your 6.75 and see if that works for you.

HP Photosmart Pro B8350 always prints photos in mirror image

I am having a issue with my photos always coming out with the reverse of the image.
I have checked the defalut options for the printer mirror image is not selected.
I also make sure that I do not select mirror image when going to print.
The OS I am running is XP home and it has all the updates available from Windows as far as I know.
Please help me get my images to print correct!

Update:
I have managed to define this problem more clearly. This is very reproducible, not random. My system: HP B8850 printer on Windows XP-Pro, USB. There is a drastic color failure under certain settings. I first noticed this when printing a photo of a brilliant pink flower - the flower prints as white, slightly yellow, with no pink at all. I can produce this result consistently under these conditions: 1) 4x6 or 5x7 paper sizes (I have not tried all possible sizes.) 2) under Photoshop CS3, setting color to be managed by CS3. 3) In the printer preferences dialog, choosing paper type HP Advanced Photo Glossy, or HP Pro Satin (I have not tried all the paper types.)
Printing 8.5x11 or larger: No Problem. Let the printer manage color: No Problem. Choose Fiber Gloss, or Other Photo Paper: No Problem.
My workaround for now is to have CS3 manage the color, selecting the ICC profile of the paper I'm using, but in the printer preferences dialog, choose Other Photo Paper. This produces slightly inferior color rendition, but I am not as demanding in 4x6 prints as I am in large prints for wall display. Nevertheless, I would like see this issue fixed in a driver update ASAP.

i have just got new laptop it a sony vaio full hd and have set printer to it ,but when i print pics they come out to dark,on old pc they are perfect thats on vista im now on windows 7 , when i put it on new pc it found latest drivers and installed on ok.

Photosmart Pro B8300 will not print on new computer

I have an HP Photosmart Pro B8350 s/n MY728111C1 bought in 2008 which worked well with my old computer with XP. I now have a new Dell XPS8300 with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.
When I plugged the printer into the computer I received the usual beep and a message to say it was connected. It installed the Photosmart Pro B8300 series driver that came with the computer. When I send a document (incl. from the 'print test page button) everything seems to work but the printer does not respond. The connection must be OK as the computer recognised it and if I click 'clean the print cartridges' the printer responds, though if on the printer properties device setting tab I try and change from Off to Update now I get an error message saying it could not be completed as a printer communication error occured.
If I watch the 'see whats printing' window the document appears momentarily , says printing and that it is sending it to the 'USB0001 virtual printer port' which is assigned to the printer. I get the bubble message to say the document is printing. However it then disappears and gives the impression it did not reach the printer, or if it did, the printer ignored it!
The driver is for 'HP Photosmart Pro B8300 series', could it be that it does not work with the B8350? The driver is for 64 bit, could the printer need 32 bit? The print processor is hpzppw71. I have tried some of the others. I have checked as best as I can that all the properties and settings are the same as on my old computer. As well as the 'USB0001 virtual printer port' there is a USB0002 port which is not ticked but is shown assigned to the printer. I cannot change that and using it does not make any difference.
Can anyone suggest what is going wrong?

Hi,
Yes you have encountered the auto sensor looking for white paper. Here is a link to a document that shows where in the driver settings to go.
Driver Settings
Essentially, you will want to change the paper type setting from "automatic" to plain paper. Click on start, and go to your Printers and Faxes. In Printers and Faxes, right mouse click on your printer and choose Printing Preferences. Choose the Printing Shortcuts tab, and Every day Printing. On the right side, change the Paper type from automatic to plain paper. Choose Apply and then ok.
You should be able to print on your colored paper now. Don't forget to go back and change it to automatic when done.

Photosmart 8750 - Which to use when printing - sRGB or Adobe RGB?

I've been printing with the 8750 and previously with the B8350, and have always sent my images to the printer as TIF files in Adobe RGB. I use conventional softproofing technique in Photoshop CS4 and get minimal, but expected color shifts (if any).
But recently I dredged up some old reviews of the 8750 which say that its output closely matches sRGB. Got me thinking... with this printer, should I be converting my images to sRGB before sending to the printer? Will I get truer color with less color shift from clipping?

It depends on your needs. Adobe RGB is a wider color space so if you're going to do any work with the photo, it will give you a little more flexibility without clipping the colors. But you WILL have to convert it to sRGB before sending to a printer or publishing to the web, if you don't want issues with non-color-aware browsers (which means, pretty much any browser but Safari).
Still... Aperture makes using RAW as easy as JPEG with numerous benefits so there's little reason to shoot JPEG and use Aperture

Can't select paper types

(Mac OSX 10.5.2, LR 1.3.1) Going crazy trying to figure this out. Somewhere around the time HP updated drivers for the Photosmart Pro B8350, I lost the ability to select anything but one paper type. As a result, none of my prints are coming out properly whereas they were perfect before. I've totally removed both the HP software and Lightroom, and started all over again. Bottom line is that only one paper type will show up in Lightroom when I select managed by application.
When I click the profile drop-down menu from the main Print module, I'm presented with two choices: Premium Plus photo (tricolor+grey) and Premium Paper (tricolor+grey). I used to be able to select from a bunch of options. OK, so I use the third menu option, which is Other and gives me a list of profiles to appear in the custom profile popup. I see Advanced Photo Glossy, and check it.
Now I can select it, but when I hit Print... and the printing dialog comes up and I double-check Paper Type/Quality, the only thing that shows is "Premium Plus Photo Paper" and all of the other options, including Advanced, are greyed-out.
I do see that there seems to be some confusion/changes or something related to where printing components are installed. I see that in ~/user/library/colorsync/profiles, things from my previous color printer. The HP stuff all installed in /Library/Printers/hp/Profiles/Photosmart and /Library/Printers/hp/Profiles/business-inkjet
Now that I look at it, the only profiles that sort match my printer name (HP PSPro B8300) are in the business-inkjet folder - NOT the photosmart folder. That doesn't seem right; this isn't a business inkjet printer, it's a photo printer.

Is this a Lightroom problem? An HP problem? Mac? Very frustrating, as this used to work flawlessly. In fact my print dialogs still have all the nice presets I had set up before, but of course none of them work now.

Hi John, Thanks for the tip. I will try that next. Below is a crash log. I printed to the 2200 from Photoshop, then in the print dialog tried to go to "color management" to turn color management off (I am getting magenta prints due to double profiling).

HP Printing Slightly Crooked offcenter

illustrator CS2-Windows XP-I have had adobe illustrator CS2 for 3 + years.I am self taught novice. Usage for grpahics. I use a HP b8350 printer great for a year w/adobe.The problem if you look at printed image it is askew. The bottom third of the image goes askew on the right about a 1/8 of an inch wider, noticable to my eye when printed on 8.5 x 11 image area 8 x 10. And viceversa for the left side it is an 1/8 smaller/narrow. MY Adobe files have never printed centered on the page. I called HP they literally tried for 5 days straight, hours of time on the phone and couldn't fix it. They gave up & sent me a new printer. I still have the same problem with the new printer. I also have lost fonts as well. I tried removing & reloading the software Adobe & HP. This is the student version and really has worked well. But I am tired of "living" with this problem. I read HP has some issues with printing adobe because of post script. I have know clue what all that means. I have manually adjust the image to be center and I have to rotate the image to compensate for the image being crooked. This can be a waste of paper, ink and time. originally when printer was set up I had to call HP because the image was printing with lines . HP had to change a .dll file...PLease help me! I think perhaps it's a driver but Hp tried that several times and it didn't fix it. I'd consider upgrading but I am afraid I would have the same problem & wasted monies. Adobe support will not help me because it is CS2 verison & said I she post here.Thank You

Try updating the drivers for the printer to see if that helps.
Also, does this only happen with illustrator or can you print correctly from another program?

HP Printer parts or repair service

I have a Photosmart B8350 printer.
I need somone to repair the ink carteridge carrige or the parts to replace it myself. The ink cartridge carrice is plastic and broke and no longer holds a metal spring that secures the ink cartridge in the carrige. I need help repairing or securing the part to replace myself.
