B9180 problem b&w prints gets sepia tone

i've got a bit odd problem now suddenly after sometime using this great printer my black and white (b&w) prints gets a sepia (light brown/yellow) tone when printing it with just grayscale with grayink only
software when printing, Aperture 2 and ImageNest RIP 2
any idea what's wrong?

Hi Tony,
The only thing I can think of is that you may be converting to your output profile prior to printing. BW printing is a non icc process and ICC color management can cause what you describe.
If you are not doing this then it is either a problem in your printer of your print driver settings. I use both Aperature and ImageNest myself and haven't had any issues.

I have looked at the presets for sepia tone, it basically sucks.... Any body who has ever done sepia toning would find the results garish. But I can not for the life of me figure out how to duplicate the look my self, or how to adjust the result of the preset.
May be I am just tired (worked 12 hours today....)
Could some body please give me an idea how to achieve a BxW Toned look to photos? I would like to do sepia for this client, but may need to do other colors in the future.

I'm using PS Elements 2.0 with Windows. Trying to do a photocollage of old (sepia) photos. I edited the photos individually, then moved them to the large photocollage, and while highlighted, added the sepia tone with Layers, Hue/Saturation, colorize, then set the 3 settings for each. (When I initially had tried to add the sepia and then move the individual photos over, it came up blank, because only the fill layer was moved, rather than the image.) When I tested these individually by printing them out, it worked fine. But when I created the final photocollage, moved the images separately over to it, and re-created the sepia tone with my test settings, the first one or two worked fine, but then all the others showed up with the same setting - they all had the same sepia tone, but not the one I had set for them. In addition, they were all washed out - no contrast, different shade of sepia than I wanted, very faded with low resolution. Even black ornamental touches showed up as sepia when I moved them, without my adding any sepia to them. I was also unable to edit them in their Layers fill palette - when I lowered or raised the settings arrow, nothing changed in the photos. I was only able to use the Enhance/Brightness-Contrast settings to set more contrast, but not able to change the sepia color. When I increased the contrast, eventually it got very RED and unattractive. When I printed these out, they were not much better than before I added more contrast. Why is this happening, and what can I do about it? What is the best way to get sepia tone in PS Elements?

i have prfiled the mac and printer wiht colormunki and uplodated the profile sucessfully
i set the printer to correct icc profile
print out comes out same with glazed colors and missing tones/colors
however when i use the same printer on windows and with light room, following same icc profile, colormunki calibrated profile, the print our are excellent.
i have also tried using printer manage profile using the Mac and Aperture and get same poor prints

I've a Pro9000 and also use Colormunki successfully.
When I use Colormunki, I calibrate both of my monitors and the printer/paper combination. Colormunki saves the generated profiles to the correct places -- I don't load or change any profiles after that as that would mess-up what the Colormunki had just done for me, and this would likely mess-up the prints.
Though I double-check the settings in the print dialogue, the choice for the printer handling things is already grayed-out. Colorsync handles it all just fine.

Sepia Tone

PSE 4.0; WIN XP; Can anyone tell me how to get a sepia tone rendition of an image. I can get from color to b/w (Image>Mode>gray Scale, etc.) but don't know how to get the brown-bronze Sepia.

Marc, Since this question comes up so often, here is my "canned" sepia presentation. It is for PSE2 so there might be slight differences in PSE4. Method 1 -------- 1. If image is greyscale, convert to RGB: Image -> Mode -> RGB Color 2. Enhance -> Adjust Color -> Hue/Saturation 3. Click Colorize box to convert picture to one color 4. Slide hue to the left to get a sepia tone, and adjust saturation. Try 30 and 25 for starters. 5. Optionally, add contrast: or Enhance -> Adjust Brightness/Contrast -> Levels Note: steps 2,5 can be done on adjustment layers. Method 2 -------- 1. If image is in greyscale, convert it to RGB: Image -> Mode -> RGB Color 2. Remove any color: Enhance -> Adjust Color -> Remove Color 3. Enhance -> Adjust Color -> Color Variations. 4. Select Midtones 5. Start with Amount slider one notch left of the middle. 6. Increase Red once. 7. Decrease Blue once. 8. If results not OK, Reset Image, move Amount Slider and try again. 9. Optionally: Fine-tune color with Hue/Saturation layer. To make photo look grainy, Filter -> Noise -> Add Noise Method 3 -------- 1. In Layer Styles, choose Photographics Effects -> Sepia Tone. 2. Make further adjustments using Enhance -> Adjust Color -> Hue/Saturation Method 4 -------- 1. If image is in RGB, remove color: Enhance -> Color -> Remove Color. 2. If image is in grayscale, convert it to RGB: Image -> Mode -> RGB Color. 3. Choose Layer -> New Fill Layer -> Solid Color. Name the layer, choose Overlay from Blend Mode drop down menu. 4. Pick a sepia color using color picker, click OK. 5. Go to Layers palette and lower adjustment layers opacity to 40 % (experiment with this setting, it's just a starting point). 6. For softer effect, change adjustment layer Blend Mode to Color. 7. To further adjust color, double-click adjustment layer icon in palette. Method 5 -------- 1. Create a solid color adjustment layer above your image, with your choice of brown. 2. Set the solid color adjustment layer's blend mode to color. You may want to desaturate image before applying the brown tone: Enhance -> Adjust Color -> Remove Color You don't have to do this but it is something to consider. 3. Futher adjust by double clicking adjustment layer icon to change color, or adding a hue/saturation layer to adjust color. Method 6 (Gradient Map) ----------------------- 1. Desaturate image: Enhance -> Adjust color -> Remove color 2. Create Gradient Map adjustment layer. 3. When Gradient Map dialog comes up, you are on default gradient. Click it to open full Gradient dialog. Select sepia from Patti's Classic Duotones. (Classic Duotones are at www.adobestudioexchange.com/item/10279). 4. Set blend mode of gradient layer to Multiply. Shortcut: In step 2 hold down <Alt> when clicking adjustment layer icon. This allows you to choose Multiply blend mode before selecting gradient. 5. Further adjust sepia by adding Hue/Saturation layer. Method 7 -------- Print -> Properties -> Effects -> Monochrome Effects

Problem with HP printer hplip is not starting

Okay, after a search I come up with the preferred printer installation method using the hp-setup command line tool. As this is supposed to be the 'HP' way to setup the printer and use hp-toolbox I decided to go this route. Naturally, the output is not promising:

Now, why the heck would it not find the device when it is already set up via CUPS and working properly in the desktop environment? The latest hplip version is 0.9.10, but I somehow doubt using the 0.9.8 would cause this type of problem as the printer I use is not a recent piece of machinery.

Cannot add printer- get error message. LaserJet 1200

I recently bought a dual powered MacBook. It was working perfectly, and finding my printer both attached by USB, and wirelessly. It shows up as Bonjour LaserJet 1200. Suddenly, it stopped working, and cannot be added to the printer list. I get an error message,"client error message too long", or some other nonsense. I have several other computers, running OS X, and none of them have any problem sharing the printer, which is connected to an Airport Extreme remote base station. I have tried everything, and come up with no success. So eventhough the printer is recognized, with its address, and is sharable, it suddenly and without cause, cannot be added to the printer list, and thus I cannot print. Any suggestions. Peter

Problem with Direct printing of PDF with Barcodes in R12

We are facing a problem in direct printing in EBS R12 with xml pdf reports which contains some barcode fonts. We are using fonts from IDAutomation for barcodes. Printing from request output is working fine. But when it is printed directly everything get printed other than the barcodes. Did anybody face this problem before and fixed it?

Output from XML Publisher comes out correctly. The barcodes are stripped off during pdftops conversion. Any idea?

Airport Extreme - problem with usb printer and usb disk

I have Airport extreme with firmware 7.1. I try connect usb disk and usb printer with usb-hub to airport. I can't get disk or printer working. Also try connect only disk or printer without usb-hub to airport getting same problem. How I get disk and printer working with wireless network (windows pc computers)?

- printer seems working fine after installing bonjour printer installing wizard.
- I get error (in windows) when I try print document from word. Error only says "error printing" in status value.
- In airport utility all seems ok. Airport see usb printer "Hewlett-Packard psc 1200 series"
- printer protocol is RAW and driver manufacture HP (also try with microsoft driver)

- Airport utility says "Disk needs repair. Errors were found with a disk connected to your airport base station. please connect the usb disk to your mac or pc and use disk utility or another disk application to repair the disk"
- I have connected Targa usb disk to windows pc and run scandisk and defreg. No errors found in windows. Result..no help for airport

I have a similar problem to your second issue. Tried connecting a Netdisk to the USB port of the Airport Extreme and it also said there was a problem with the disk. Have performed a low level format on the disk and Airport Extreme still complained the disk had a problem.
After unplugging the disk, my route decided to stop allowing wireless connections even after rebooting. Ended up having to hard reset the Airport Extreme and reconfigure it with my old settings to work again.
FWIW, the first Airport Extreme I purchased today only worked on 802.11a and steadfastly refused to work on b/g so had to get a replacement. I suspect Apple's quality control is not quite as good as it used to be.

Problems with HP printer and PSE 11 (was bill v)

When using my HP 7020e photosmart printer and Adobe photoshop elements 11, I get a very small white border on the prints. I have set for borderless printing. Adobe says the print size is 4.2 x 6.18 instead of 4 x 6. Any suggestions?

Problem with Dell Printer and Wireless Router

I have a new Linksys Wireless Router (3100) and it handles 3 laptops, PS3 fine. But I have a Dell 715w network printer (also new). I have it set up on the network, and it works fine upon setup. The problem is the printer does not work all the time. Sometimes I can get an error message, sometimes it says it is busy, and other times it literally takes a long time to load and then does not print. I usually can get it to work again by rebooting and turning off the router and printer and laptops, but this hit or miss is very annoying and I never know when it will do this again, usually after a week or two. I wonder if the problem is that the 3 laptops all have different OS - XP, Vista and Windows 7. Dell tech support won't help as they say they don't support routers, but I am wondering whether the problem is ina s etting or if this printer is malfunctioning. any help would be appreciated

Yes. You have to key-in the IP address to the printer.
Basically, if the printer is set to obtain IP address from the router, it will be provided with a random IP or any IP available for the next device that will connect, on this issue, your printer. So there's no permanent IP address for the printer, making it a little hard to find at times. Compare it with the a static IP, your computer can easily map it since it doesn't change.

Problem with my printer "sorry not recognised"

Dispite posting the problem i had after MUCH hard work and searching for how to do this, i never got a reply (i thought this was a support forum), i hate to say it but support from HP has seriously gone down hill, i have a problem with my printer which is in warrenty can i send and email NOOOOOOO cos i have to put S/N and product number i put them in but i get "sorry not recognised" How the hell are you meant to get any support when they make 99% impossible to to post and email them i am sorry HP but your support is a shambles, your heads should be hung in shame.

Same problem and the same printer, Yosemite not recognize the printer (which I think is incredible, Windows was better in these areas to get a new OS).

I shrank C drive. that left me with another drive, which I formatted as drive I. The recovery drive is D, as it was when I received the computer. I had some problems with my printer (Epson) through a Dlink DIR655B1, and wanted to return the computer to factory condition.
When I try to use the recovery through Windows, it says factory reset is disabled?? When I try to shut down, reboot, and use the bios restore, it just comes up with an error message, says to use the dvd that came with the computer, which it didn't?
Any way I can put this all back to normal?

You damaged the partition structure when you shrank C, see this guide to properly add a 5th partition after you get it restored using HP recovery media.

Printer getting offline

Printer getting offline. They are able to use Printer once they are connected to Local LAN(printers there are added locally using IP), they are using VPN Cisco Any connect. Whenever users wants to take
printouts they have to disconnect from VPN then only they can fire the prints.
user are facing this issue while disconnecting from VPN the local printer also gets offline, user has to reboot the machine to take a print every time.

The main issue is that disconnecting the printer from VPN will affect the other printers ,right ?
First of all ,I would suggest you to check the status of the printer spooler service (Serivce.msc) after disconnecting the printer from the VPN .

There is a problem with the printer or ink system.

Will not print. Turn it off then back on; will print one document, but not the last page. Try printing only the last page, but will not print. Will not print one page documents at all. Will not print more than one document without repeating this process.
First Error message: "There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn the printer off, then on. If you continue to get this message, contact HP." Out of warranty.

If it is a USB powered external, no AC adpater, that may be the reason. Mac notebooks are known to have low powered USB ports. You can get around that with a Y USB cable to connect to 2 USB ports at the same time.
