Back button loses its memory after a while

Greetings,
I brought up the ohguide.bat from OHJ 4.2.3 and selected the topic "About the Files". I selected each hyperlink from this page and then used the "Back" button to return back to the original About the Files topic. Using the table of contents, I then selected the topic "Topic Files". I selected a hyperlink in this topic, then selected "Back" which I assumed would go back to the topic "Topic Files". Instead, it went to the topic "About the Files". Now, any topic I browse, select a hyperlink and then select the Back button, it returns to "About the Files".
We first noticed this with our own help topics, but was able to reproduce this with ohguide.bat. Can you fix this? This is very confusing to our users and the Back button is essentially unusable after a certain number of tries.
thanks,
Elizabeth Dyer.

OHJ 4.2.5 does indeed work much better with the back button.
thanks!
Elizabeth.

  • Back Button does not work after upgrade to F4.01, why?

    90% of the time, since my upgrade to Firefox 4.01, my Back Button (arrow) does not work. I know there's a referring page and it hasn't opened a new window. Ideas?

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
    If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
    In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in <u>[[Safe mode]]</u>:
    * Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)

  • Back button doesn't appear after going to a new web page but works from after that

    The back button and refresh button don't work when I start browsing in a new tab or a new window. For example, if I open a webpage in a new tab (or start a new session, etc):
    Open browser and go to mozilla.com (first web page)
    Click on any link (second web page)
    Can't click on back or refresh buttons (Greyed out)
    Click on any link again (third web page)
    Can click on back button to second web page but still won't go back to first web page (as if history of ever visiting the first web page isn't there)
    Does anyone have a similar problem or know how to solve it?
    I have also noticed that Firefox hangs sometimes, like when clicking on forget/delete this from history and disable/remove add-ons
    Thanks.

    im not sure but maybe this helps. I was opening links with right mouse button at FF3.6 and second option was open in new tab but at FF4 this option at first order. If you use same way as like me. your new tabs are new windows so there is no back option or refresh.

  • The back button doesn't appear after doing a search.

    When I move away from a search page, the back button doesn't activate, so I can not return to the search page. Once I go to a non-search page, the back button works normally again. It's only when I first start the browser and move away from a search page that I can't go back to the search page without performing a new search. Basically, I can't reach my initial search via the back button or the recent pages button.

  • Why are key functions, such as the "back" button, missing from Firefox after involuntary update?

    I noticed that there is a new version of Firefox on my computer, different from the last time I had my computer on. There are few issues that I have noticed thus far. 1) The back" and "forward" buttons are disabled. 2) Whenever I open a website the address bar is missing the URL. 3) Firefox doesn't save my tabs and I lost all of my tabs from the previous session.
    Please help me. This makes browsing a frustrating task.

    Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.
    You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox Profile Folder.

    It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
    Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

    Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

    If you keep having problems with your current Firefox Profile Folder then try to create new profile or reset Firefox.
    Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
    See "Creating a profile":
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles

    There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
    If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

  • Apple TV loses WiFi Connectively After waking up from sleep

    My Apple TV, software version 3.0.2 (which gives us 1080P btw), works fine, until I put it to "sleep." Later, when I use the Apple TV, it says: "Not connected to the Internet." In effect, my wifi has disappeared from the memory of the Apple TV, and I have to enter the wifi network's password again on the Apple TV.
    I have had this Apple TV for about a year; the problem appeared maybe one month ago.
    I took it to the Apple Store after Apple Care Telephone Support consulted with engineers. The Apple engineers said it could be a hardware problem, and for me to bring my Apple TV to the Apple Store so they could diagnose it. But at the Genius bar, they put it to sleep and woke it up and it never lost connectivity every time. I suggested that as the Apple Engineers wanted the hardware looked at, why doesn't the Apple Store keep my unit, put it to sleep, and wake it the next business day? The genius bar refused, as the problem did not replicate itself at the genius bar. I told them that trying after 10 minutes wasn't enough. They should try it overnight, as I do (go to bed, try it the next day, only to discover that the Apple TV lost it's connection to the WiFi.
    So for now, my work-a-round is that after a few hours, I have to reenter the password for the wifi. I've been reading threads about similar issues with the iPad, but I don't know if the problems are related (technology wise).
    Bottom line: My Apple TV loses its connectivity after being in sleep mode for awhile. Nothing to do with the iTunes store or 3.0.2 as far as I can determine; if I don't put it to sleep I don't lose connectivity.

    Thank you, Jamie Cox1. However, after rebooting the Apple TV, I lose my 1080P; it goes to 720P and takes about 5 minutes or so to reboot. Then I have to set the 1080P again. The good news is that the wifi returns But it is quicker merely to re-enter my password.
    The problem remains: After a while of having the Apple TV in sleep mode, I lose connectivity to my wifi And while I have a complicated password (upper and lower case letters, numbers, and not a dictionary word), it still is quicker to re-enter my password than to wait for the Apple TV to reboot and re-enter the settings for 1080P.
    Thanks anyway; if I only had 720P perhaps this solution might be enough - but I have 1080P.
    I am working with Apple Care; I have reconfigured my wifi twice with Airport Utility, removed all interference (microwaves, cordless phones), and still the problem remains. Apple Care hasn't solved the problem. The Genius Bar at the Apple Store hasn't solved the problem. Re-booting does find the wifi again, but it takes a long time, and then I still have to re-set the resolution to 1080P. So I just re-enter my password each time.
    And that's my update! I appreciate everyone's suggestions. However, the problem remains: after putting the Apple TV in sleep mode, and then later when I want to use the Apple TV, the Apple TV forgets that it is connected to wifi and I have to re-enter my password, or I can take some time and reboot the Apple TV but then while the wifi returns, the 1080P disappears.
    Thank you everyone for all your suggestions
    But the problem remains

  • 70D and Back Button focus

    I have set up the camera for back button focus.   HOWEVER ... when I review shots taken using BBF, in Aperture, the "Focus Point" display indicates I focused always in  the center of the screen, not off to the right or left, as I might have recomposed.  Yes, I keep the AF On button pressed.

    I don't have 70D, but have been using BBF most of the time for the past 15 years with various Canon film and digital cameras. I'm one of those folks who swear by it! And I would guesstimate that most people I've taught to use it over the years love it and swear by it, too. BBF allows you to use AI Servo as your default AF mode, so is particularly popular with sports photographers or anyone else shooting action and moving subjects. I'd rather have my camera in AI Servo, since it can be used with both moving and stationary subjects. One Shot can mostly only be used with stationary subjects. So, using AI Servo as my default mode, I'm better prepared for whatever happens. If you don't use BBF there are times that AI Servo can cause problems, such as when you use single point and a focus and recompose technique. So, that's basically why I use and swear by BBF. It puts me in more full control and allows me to have my cameras in AI Servo ready and ready to quickly get a shot of almost anything, using most any technique I wish. But, based on your description, you might be using BBF wrong.  You wrote, "I have set up the camera for back button focus... as I might have recomposed...  I keep the AF On button pressed." In fact, this is exactly the opposite of what you need to do. What you should do when focusing and recomposing with BBF is NOT maintain pressure on the back button.  To focus and recompose while using BBF and AI Servo: first put the AF point on the subject and achieve focus... Then release the button so the AF stays focused on the subject, while recomposing as you see fit. The subject stays in focus. (You cannot do sngle point/focus and recompose in AI Servo mode with shutter-release based AF control enabled. You have to use One Shot.) One caveat, if using a zoom and part of your recomposing involves changing its focal length, be aware that many modern zoom lenses are "varifocal" designs that do not maintain focus when zoomed. With those, you'll be fine so long as you are using AI Servo, BBF and not recomposing (i.e, not moving the AF point off the subject)... the camera automatically corrects focus as you zoom. But if you zoom a varifocal lens at the same time or as a part of the recomposition, you need to remember to update focus on the subject after changing the focal length... else you'll miss focus. Look for info about any zooms you use, to see if they are varifocal and need refocusing after zooming... Or if they're "parfocal" type that will maintain focus during zooming. I only very rarely take my cameras out of BBF now... Mostly just if I'm lending one to someone who doesn't know how to use it and I don't have time to give them a lesson. BBF puts me more in control of the AF system... of exactly when and where it focuses. It gives me the best of both worlds: the speed and accuracy of AF, plus user control more like we had when we manually focused our lenses. Like others, most of the time I tend to use center AF point only. I just don't have time to set up planned shots when shooting sports/action. Plus with some cameras and lenses the center point is higher performance. But, I see AF point selection as a somewhat separate consideration from BBF... and single point/center only works quite well in conjunction with BBF... or not. More info about BBF here: http://www.learn.usa.canon.com/resources/articles/2011/backbutton_af_article.shtml ***********

    sometimes my back button doesnt work correctly... and in the games like asphalt 8 doesnt work at allxperia sp android 4.3

    My back button doesen't work after playing Family Guy Quest for Stuff, its that game that causes it and also eats the ram up to the point where I have 0mb which makes the phone unusable with apps closings constantly. I would like to know whether its my phone or that game and if other people are having problems with that game, I have already done a repair from PC Companion and it hasn't fixed the issue.

  • Preventing the User from going back to the main page after logging out.

    Hi all,
    In my project I want to prevent the User from going back to the Main page, by clicking the back button of the browser, after the user has loggged out.I had invalidated the session so the user will not be able to do any operations, but he can vew the infos. I want to redirect to the login page if the user tries to go back using the back button after he has logged out.
    I tried the same in this forum after loging out. Surprisingly it is the same. I can browse through all the operations i did even after logging out from here.
    Is it not possible to do that in Servlets?Could somebody help?
    Thanks,
    Zach.

    Hi,
    You can use a servlet filter to do this , as it can interceptany request to your application you can decide to allow user access or not to any page/servlet.
    public class Test implements Filter{
         public void destroy() {
         public void doFilter(ServletRequest arg0, ServletResponse arg1, FilterChain arg2) throws IOException,
                   ServletException {
              System.out.println("filter");
              HttpServletRequest request = (HttpServletRequest) arg0;
              if(!request.getRequestURI().contains("index")){ // set condition that will be checked to verify if the user is logged in
                   System.out.println("redirecting ... ");
                   RequestDispatcher d = arg0.getRequestDispatcher("/index.jsp");
                   d.forward(arg0, arg1);
              arg2.doFilter(arg0, arg1);
         public void init(FilterConfig arg0) throws ServletException {
    }in you web.xml add :
    <filter>
              <filter-name>test</filter-name>
              <filter-class>test.Test</filter-class>
         </filter>
         <filter-mapping>
              <filter-name>test</filter-name>
              <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern>
         </filter-mapping>

  • I lose the back button after a time (about 45mins). Any help?

    I lose my back button (upper left on tool bar) after about 45 minutes on line
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == several months ago

    I was referring to the search box in Google's page. I also use the search box to the right of the address box up on the navigation toolbar. I never search from the address area itself. Is that where it is getting blanked out?
    It's probably not a problem with Windows. More likely you have an add-on that is causing the problem. You can restart in Firefox's Safe Mode to test that theory.
    First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
    Next, this article describes how to start in Safe Mode from various versions of Firefox:
    [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode Safe Mode].
    If that works as expected/intended/designed, then one of your add-ons likely is the problem.

  • Page back button is disabled after clicking to another web page, causing me to lose the original page.

    When I click to follow a link from one of my home pages, the back button becomes disabled. This has the effect of "disappearing" the first page and "stranding" the link I traveled to.
    The only work around is enter the site again. Subsequent clicks from the page don't cause it to disappear again.

    I would suspect a slightly incompatible addon of causing that to happen.
    Do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode?<br/> ''A troubleshooting mode.''<br />
    You can open the Firefox 4.0 SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut. Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running. <br />
    ''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut to open it again.''
    If not, see this: <br />

  • Firefox loads page at first start extremely slowly & while using suddenly loses its connection ability! How can I fix this?

    I'm using Firefox 4.0 I did all the updates I could, I didn't change anything except the history preferences and from advanced -> network
    Whats happening:
    I'm starting firefox, first time or second time I start doesn't matter, it brings every single page extremely slowly (google,facebook,mozilla.com etc)
    after a while it loads the page, and after a little more while suddenly it loses connection and returns to first position
    bringing pages extremely slowly
    It's not about my internet connection, I have a good one and other applications using internet are working perfectly (including IE)

    Thanks for responding, David. Using <Esc> and <CtrlW> might reduce the time in returning to the other tab, but does little when the triggering of a wanton alarm is very frequent. The connections I have used were extremely reliable and fast. I am using at this moment a 54 Mbps WiFi connection that lives up to its ratings in downloading & uploading data; yet, as shown in the attached image, I still get this worthless alarm. I do not know if this problem happens with my regular ISP since I have been using this tiny notebook only when traveling -- will test that once I am back mostly for curiosity, but even then if then the alarm were not triggered this would be of little consolation, since other browsers do not have the problem right now).
    As a moderator, I urge you to ask the Mozilla-powers-to-be why there is no way to turn off the alarm with, say, a true/false switch in about:config (mind you, there is still old-versions junk in this config list, so it isn't we are talking about amending the constitution). Complains about this fugly alarm can be traced in the web as far back as 2010 at least. Besides, what is the advantage of the alarm for the average user? When FF users are still posing amazingly basic questions in forums of Firefox or Mozilla support, such an alarm ought to be _off_ by default and should be an option of advanced settings menu. This annoyance shows how much the critical focus on keeping a simple GUI uncluttered by trivial or higher-level messages still needs to evolve for Firefox, which I have used it since it was known a Firebird. Guess will have to switch to Chrome now while abroad.
    Happy Holidays

    after i have downloaded an album from iCloud to my new macbook pro. Itunes will only play one song at a time. If i hit the fast forward or back button will not do anything. I have to use the mouse to hit the next tidal in the album then hit play for it to play the next song. Or put it in the UP NEXT.

    First, make sure these items have checkmarks next to their names in iTunes. Continuous playback only works on checked items. Itunes will play all checked items in a list whether or not they're from the same album.
    If you see that nothing in your library is checked and you want to check everything, hold down Ctrl while checking an item. This checks everything.
    Next, fixing the "1 of 1" problem is easily. Select all the tracks that make up the book/album. Let's say there are 15. Press Ctrl-I. Doublecheck that the album box is filled in with the name of the book, and if not, type it there. Enter "15" in the box for the total number of tracks. Click OK. Now all the items should be "1 of 15," "2 of 15," and so on.
