Back cover self cracked

Hi
So here I am, it just happened to me, the back cover of my Z2 self cracked ! I left it on a shelf, inside it's pouch (Adore June case), and when I took it a few minutes later, the back was all cracked.
The phone didn't fell, nio shock at all, nothing. Temperature was ambiant, about 20°c, without any big variations.
So I'd say, for a piece a of technology I bought at the high price 2 month ago, it is just unbelievable, unacceptable !
It was my first Sony phone, and it will be the very last.
Other than that, I was really satisfied with it.....until it decides to harm itself !
Now the good part of the story is, when I contacted the seller (official seller on internet), they oriented me to their warranty service, who reacted very well and fast. I was about to send them the phone, for free, for an expertise, but when I called them, they advised me to wait, because they already had hundreds of Z2 with the same issue, and for now Sony hadn't accepted to repair under warranty !!!!
They told me they were negotiating with Sony, with the help of a consumers association, to make Sony accept their production deffective issues.
So voilà my story with Sony. I will keep you informed about the outcome, hopefully Sony will take their responsibility.
As soon as I will have my Z2 repaired, first thing I will sell it. And never again I will hear about Xperia phones !
I have a Z2 Tablet, which for now is very well and doesn't seem to want to Crack it self,.....
Final word : Please SONY, proove me I am wrong, and reply to me ; i can provide all details you would need to study my case and make your warranty work as it should.
Good luck with yours !

Can someone please give me the cause of this and how to fix it?
Ah, the spontaneous cracking glass, a mystery in it's own life time. Could you post some pics of it, more imprtantly, the edges of the phone.
I'm sorry, but this sounds about as likely to happen as the tooth fairy coming to give me money.
Either way, go to your local service centre to get it fixed.

I have an unlocked, do you think apple will replace?

Purchased as officially unlocked from your provider and from Apple, your iPhone has a one year warranty. Each warranty claim is handled on a case by case basis.
If hacked to be unlocked or unofficially unlocked, no.
Doing so is against Apple's license agreement for the iPhone, is not supported by Apple, and voids the warranty.

  • Dropped iphone 4s and back cover has a huge crack. any way to fix the crack

I accidentally dropped my iphone 4s and the back cover has a crack, how can i fix it?

All you can do is get the broken back cover replaced.  First call would be one of your carriers shops or Apple store, other than that loads of repairers on the web. And then get your self a good quality Case for your Idevice
i.e. Otterbox Lifeproof etc saves a lot of hassle

No, I don't think so if it's through mishandling.

  • Swelling in iPhone 3GS battery, and cracking of back cover.

    I need some help.
I updated my iPhone 3GS 16GB to iOS 5.0.1, and I think it causes the phone to overheat or something. Next day when I see my phone, the battery is drained out and the back is swollen like a ballon, the back cover has some cracks too (near the logo).
Today, after 2/3 days when I checked my phone again the battery has kept of bending/swelling that it has opened the iphone pushing the back cover and front screen.
The phone was bought in US, and I have moved back to India. Can someone help me on what to do or who to contact?
    Thanks

Since you are outside the country of purchase, you are not going to be able to get it serviced. Also, since you are presumably not using AT&T for service, the phone had to be hacked. That means all bets are off. My money would be on a physical defect in the battery or charging circuit that caused the problem, but it's entirely possible that since the OS had to be modified to get it to run on your carrier, that could have caused the charging circuit to behave in a way it shouldn't have. Dispose of it safely. DO NOT just throw it in the trash.

  • Self-cracking back glass

So, another self-cracked back glass on a Z2!
Phone is brand new. Used it for some browsing, put it in my pocket, took it out shortly after again and the back glass was completely shattered. I took the phone to a repair shop (not Sony) and the technician agreed that since there was no breaking point or other indicators that the phone had been dropped, it must be an "internal thing."
    But surprise! Sony disagrees.
Basically I got told by customer support that a shattered glass will be considered a user fault no matter what.
Think about that for a second: Sony sells me a faulty product. It then breaks due to poor build quality and it is my fault regardless of what documentation and examination of the unit is provided (together with all the evidence from other users experiencing the same).
I am going to contact the equivalent to the "Watchdog" show on BBC here in Denmark to hopefully have them investigating this. This is NOT how you take care of your customers.

You need to either return your device to the place of purchase or contact Xperia care http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/

  • Crack in the back cover

Hi, I just noticed that my iPhone 3G's back cover has a little crack just where the mute switch is. Is this a material defect or something? I never dropped my iPhone or anything like that. Can I use Apple's guarantee to let this repair? If so, how can I contact Apple (Germany) for that?
    Thanks

  • Crack on the back cover

Is my expria z1 waterproof still works even if it has a crack at the back cover? I accidentally step on it.

Contact your local Xperia support, I wouldn't think it's waterproof but only they can check it.

  • Crack on back cover spreading up from dock connector -- anyone else?

Two week-old black iPhone 3G 16GB. Kept in a leather slip-case. Never sat on, dropped or abused. Free of scratches.
Now has a 10mm-long crack spreading up from the middle of the dock connector.
Called Apple tech support, told I'd get a free replacement, went on hold, then told that actually it was accidental damage and I'd be charged for repair, "even if it's a design fault", because it arrived from O2 without a crack in it.
Looking up inside the dock connector, there's no support for the case and the edge can flex inwards with just the tiniest pressure.
Anyone else having this problem? Anyone had any success getting Apple to replace it?
Unfortunately, the only camera I've got with me is on my iPhone, so it'll be a challenge to take a picture of the crack today!

Second phone call to Apple, still no joy. Some interesting tid-bits:
    1) Absolutely no advanced-replacement option possible: "it's not like a little power supply or something -- the iPhone is different". Send it in for an evaluation is the only Apple option aside from trekking to an Apple store for evaluation.
    2) The cost to replace the back cover, if found to be 'accidental damage', is £146 for an 8GB, probably more for a 16GB (?!)
    3) The guy was unable to tell me how Apple assesses if something is 'accidental damage', and couldn't put me through to someone who could. He also refused to put me through to anybody else to discuss the matter further.
    4) He said that he wasn't interested in listening to anything that had been posted on a forum regarding cracking issues or anyone getting a replacement from Apple.
    5) My only other option, he said, was to take it in to an O2 shop and have a go at getting a replacement from them.
I waffled on about 'fit for purpose', this being a premium product, and being a loyal Apple customer for years to absolutely no avail -- he wouldn't budge and give me a replacement, offer a free repair, or acknowledge any potential design faults. Like talking to a brick wall of policy! Quite different to the only other experience I've had with Apple tech support.
Interesting to hear about the moisture sensor, neuroanatomist -- thanks!

  • Z1 Self Cracking Screen

As others have found, the Xperia Z1 has the same self cracking screen issue as the previous Z handset. Mine decided it was time to go while charging stationary on my desk at work. Looking online I noticed there were others with the same issues who had sent their device to Sony for repair.Unfortunately Sony do not want to acknowledge the blatant problems with any of their products and have therefore decided that my warranty does not cover the damage. The repair centre have quoted around £122 to replace the screen or £20 to post it back which is absurd! Has anyone else had any success dealing with the support team? It's becoming increasingly frustrating speaking to someone reading from a script!

I recently (7 days ago) purchased a "Certified Pre-Owned" Xperia Z1S.  After having the phone for 3 days the phone, without contact, developed a single hairline crack.  Sony is aware of the issue of overheating of the phone causing a hairline crack and has previous supplied T-Mobile with documentation regarding the Xperia Z (https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-10500).   The issue I am having: Sony would replace the phone, because of this known issue (http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/05/30/bbcs-watchdog-investigates-xperia-z1-cracking-screen-issue-sony-responds/), if for not the fact the phone is "Pre-Owned.  Per Sony: there no manufacture warranty on "Pre-Owned" phones. A manager with T-Mobile (Nick A. from Springfield MO) acknowledged that the Xperia Z has a replacement policy, but they have not received any documentation for the Xperia Z1S having the issue. I requested that Nick A. initiate contact with Sony to resolve, be was informed he was not able. I am asking that Sony take a proactive position and contact T-Mobile and document, the Xperia Z1, also has a self-cracking screen issue.  Please forward documentation to the CEO:[email protected]

  • Aluminium back cover for iPhone 3G?

Does anyone know if I can get the plastic back cover of iPhone 3G replaced with a metallic one? I know there is color ware (http://www.colorwarepc.com/p-161-iphone-3g.aspx) for getting iPhone painted. But it would be nice if to have a metallic back like 1st generation iPhone. Atleast, it would solve the cracking issue!

    According to Colorware, http://www.colorwarepc.com/p-161-iphone-3g.aspx
the OEM warranty is replaced by Colorware's warranty. Read the little box above the "Product details".

  • Replacing the back cover

I had recent cracked the back cover of my phone and it's starting to bug me now, is there anyway i can take it off and replace it? I know i can take it off, but will it void warrenty? Also where would i get a new cover from? I would kind of like to have a customized cover, but what ever works.
    Thank you.

Tamara has a good suggestion, at least until your warranty runs out.
This is a good case and hardly adds any volume to the iPhone... http://www.myincipio.com/category/iphonecases.iphone_feathercase/

It sounds like the battery might have gone bad, and is swelling and causing the symptoms you describe.  Do not attempt to use the phone, but take it to Apple for evaluation.
