Back/forward navigation gestures in Chrome

Where have these gone? I used to love swiping back and forth on the trackpad so I could go forward and back in the pages. This feature is still in Safari, but where has it gone in Chrome? Is this a Chrome developer issue by where they will likely update chrome to support more Lion features?

I ran into that problem too. I had to make some changes in System Preferences -> Trackpad -> More Gestures. I changed "Swipe between pages" to use three fingers. That automatically changed "Swipe between full screen apps" to four fingers instead of three.

Enhancement to the Back/Forward navigation feature

This is a great new feature - how about completing it with:
1) The line number in the file navigated from
2) A trimmed preview of the code in the line
3) Both

I don't think you need to press and hold it - just hover it.
Actually there already is a tooltip showing which file you are about to navigate back/forward to - these data can be added to it.
But at the same time, I believe the same line number/source code data can also be added to the drop-down menu of those button.
This is especially useful for navigating between many methods within a single file.

Back/forward trackpad gestures in other places (Finder, Firefox, ...) in os x lion

the two finger slide effect for browseing history (of a tab) in safari seems such a cool new feature
however , I couldn't figure out which trackpad gesture shall I use to navigate in other applications
such as finder to browse one folder up....
does anybody know any solution?

To get it to work in Finder, you have to set 'Swipe between pages' to 'Swipe with 2 or 3 fingers' in Trackpad preferences.

Navigation (Back/Forward) buttons not working in Firefox

I'm tring to put together a Browser Based help guide, and for the most part it's working as intended... except for the navigation buttons within the help guide themselves. By that I mean...
Those guys. The way I would assume they work is that they provide back/forward navigation between topics as you move through the guide, but they don't seem to be functional. As in, they do nothing, ever. They don't even act clickable.
(The forward and back buttons provided by my browser do seem to work, but I'd like to get these working, as well.)
We're testing mostly in Firefox 13; we've also tried IE 9, and the buttons work correctly. Any ideas?

It's odd that these would work fine in IE. To my knowledge, they aren't there to navigate from visited topic to visited topic and back. Unless I'm mistaken, they are there to traverse one or more Browse Sequences that have been defined.

Lost navigation with view,bookmarks, back,forward home page NYT??

Somethng call Abuchak has replaced my NYT homepage and my navigation bar, with view,bookmarks,back,forward, etc. Want it back.

This issue can be caused by an extension called ConnectBar

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

You can open the about:config page via the location bar and do a search for abuchak via the Filter at the top of the about:config page. 
You can reset all abuchak related prefs that appear bold (user set) via the right-click context menu to their default values.

Safari 5.1 reloads page when using back button or gesture

Safari has the strange behavior of reloading pages "navigated to" using the back button or gesture. Most other browsers I've worked with pull from cache when using the back button. I don't think this behavior is compliant with standards - defacto as they may be.
An example of why this is wrong is the navigation of this forum. I just loaded Lion and need to use the forum for support. When navigating back from a particular post to the list of posts the page will reload. Needless to say several hundred posts have been entered since last looking at the list and I subsequently lose the context of what I read last. The list of posts from cache which I orginally looked at should be returned - not the latest updated one. Let me choose when to refresh a page from the cache.
I downloaded Google Chrome to compare behaviors. Chrome does not reload pages navigated to using the back button - it pulls the pages from cache.
I've looked at the configuration of Safari and see no options to configure this behavior.

Switch from one finger swipe to two finger swipe
ok, since i do not have a trackpad, i used my magic mouse. I changed my swipe between pages from one finger to two and my pages no longer re-loaded. Changing that option back to one finger swipe then set my pages to re-load our setting are slightly differnt, but were looking for the same outcome. Lood for a "Swipe between pages option. Then look for a drop down triangle. now change your swipe left or right with two fingers to one. this should re-load your pages now ;-)

3 finger swipe back/forward

Hi, Prior to upgrading to Windows 10 I could 3 finger swipe left/right to navigate back/forward in chrome. Now this functionality appears to be overridden in Windows 10 with the task view screen. Is there anyway to bring back the old functionality (or assign it to another gesture)? Thanks

In System Preferences under 'Trackpad' -> 'More Gestures' I set 'Swipe between pages' to 'Swipe with two or three fingers' and now I can move backward/forward in Aperture with my MacBook Pro Trackpad with three fingers.
Maybe you try this and see if it works for you.

The Hyperlinks and even the active buttons(like Back, Forward, Maximize,minimize,closeetc) on a webpage opened on Firefox page become inactive and there is no action on mouse click on them.

I use Firefox Version 3.6.6. If firefox is kept opened for a day or two with some tabs opened, then the active buttons like the "Back","Forward","Maximize","minimize","Close", etc and even the links on the webpage become disabled. On mouse click no action gets performed on these type of links. Once this starts only a PC restart causes Firefox to work normally.
Please kindly help me with a solution and I would request a fix for this issue.

I do not use McAfee software and I am having this issue. I can right-click on the "back-or-forward" buttons and get a history list to choose from (which is far from an improvement), but do not get any response from a left-click. The "back-or-forward" navigation buttons are greyed-out. Also, when I open Firefox (4), I get two title bars at the top with two separate sets of the "minimize", "maximize" and "close" icons. It appears as if one window is open within another, but if I click any of the commands "both" windows respond. It's annoying and cumbersome.

Forward navigation does not work in the Front-end new editor

I just upgraded my GUI to 7.20 Patch level 3 (highest available), and when I use the new Front-end editor, the forward navigation by double clicking does not seem to work. When I double click on a perform statement, the editor takes me to the sub-routine. However, when I double click on a perform on the sub-routine, it goes back to the first one. I saw the following thread

and still does not show any solution. It does work when I switch to the Old Front-end editor.
Any thought or solution, other than switching to Old Front-end editor.

Thanks for the response. But it is not the issue. I found the problem. This is a system issue and has been fixed in SP19. There is an OSS Note 1279209 that explains the problem and the solution, if you are interested.

When I click on a link the address does not display in the location bar in the new tab. Which makes the back/forward button and refresh buttons unable to be used

When opening a link any link from firefox address does not display in the location bar. Even when navigating forward from there the address does not show back/forward button and refresh all rendered unable to be used

Where are the back/forward arrows to navigate web site?

If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key, that should make the menu bar appear.
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
* If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
* If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
* If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

Implement History, Back & Forward in custom code

Hi All
We have our custom developed Header Code, where we have controling Personalize, Logout, Favorite & Top level navigation code.
I want to implement the SAP oup of box history, Back Forward functionality in custom developed code.
Please help me how to implement SAP History, Back , Forward Functionality in our custom developed code.

The only way it wouldn't be available is if moving forward opens a new browser window. Look in the bottom right corner of the browser and see if you see a small number inside a box. That would indicate if you have more than one browser window open.
If not, then it may be necessary for you to try to troubleshoot the phone. First step is to power the phone off/on. If that doesn't help, then the next step is a reset, which is done by holding the home and power button together until you see the Apple logo and then releasing, ignoring the slide to power off screen. If that doesn't help, a restore is next, first from a back up and if no change then as a new phone. However, I don't expect you are going to have to go that far.

How do I get my back, forward, reload & stop bottons working again?

When I hit Firefox icon on desktop, the Firefox page come up with "untitled" blank page comes up. I have no access to the toolbar with back <, forward >, reload and stop x buttons.

Why are there no up/down arrows to show recent sites on the "Back/Forward" browser arrows?

FF 3.6 and earlier had a very useful feature on the "Back" and "Forward" navigation arrows that allowed me to quickly jump to pages a few farther back (or forward) than the just one I get by clicking the "Back" (or "Forward") arrow.
With FF 4.0, those very useful arrows are gone. How do I get them back?

If you just click and hold on the button you get the menu with all the sites you've been to. Then just click on the one you want.
